- "I can't find this footage anywhere, I found this tape on my grandparents' collections for some odd reason. From what I could tell this was a story about a child who died due to a modded Pokémon game (I speculate the reason why it was on English is because this was not modded in Japan) that this single parent has lost her child to. I could not find any articles or any discussions anywhere about this. Also yeah I did add subtitles so it would be easier to watch this."

Sad fact: In 2000 there was a case in turkey where a kid jumped from his balcony thinking he was a flying pokemon
I didn't know at the time I was making this, I hope the kid is okay.
@@vibingleafHe's most likely okay since articles mentioned him recovering in a hospital
very sad to hear
Apparently a 7 year old girl did the same thing, except she fell five stories as opposed to the boy who fell a whole seven stories. But yeah, both only got broken legs. Turns out that these incidents got the show shut down for a bit, solely because parents couldn't watch their damn kids and the show made "no distinction between good and evil."
@@rretroo thankfully he only suffered breaking his leg(s) instead of passing away
Imagine being a kid who innocently plays Pokemon where the game's objective is to "gotta catch 'em all", but the game catches you instead.
That's what happens in Russia, not Japan. You see, all the game did was manipulate him into jumping of the balcony. The copy of the game was a cursed version of itself, probably made by a video game pirate, not Nintendo.
it would be a fact that they turn into Pokémon but it's sad somehow to live your whole life trapped :/ in the game ☠️ with a Monster
epic fail
that happened to me once. I got lucky and was able to make it out alive.
This is like those "in russia [y] does [x]" jokes but real

What really gets me is how you expect the video to reach it's climax of why the child died, but no reason is revealed. The unexpected ending cut gives it an unsettling, underlying tone and leaves it unquestioned. Great video, well done.
i feel like whatever was in the cartridge somehow, someway, was able to do the same thing it did to make the kid die, and everyone that was watching the broadcast just kinda, died yeah.
Listen.
Ghost used curse, thats how the kid died
If you know the original Creepypasta, you know that what killed the kid was a frequency (what it caused, not the frequency it self)
Hepburn/Emil after killing Gengar tells the player to "Listen"
This News Broadcast likely killed thousands of people, whom all heard the frequency live.
@@mothramaster1837 Is this video adapted from a specific creepypasta, or are you referring to just general Lavender Town Syndrome?
One important thing to note is that at 2:58, one of Blastoise's moves is BITE which is displayed as having the DARK type and 25/25 PP. In Generation 1 (Red/Blue/Yellow), BITE is a NORMAL type move. Dark and Steel were only introduced in Generation 2 (Silver/Gold/Crystal).
When HEPBURN sends out "DER", instead of saying [Trainer] sent out [Pokemon], the text states: HEPBURN has unleashed DER!
Also, HEPBURN has no title that most trainers have before their name. ex: Ace Trainer, Swimmer, Rival.
With the way IVs/EVs work in Gen 1, these Pokemon would have likely had to have no training prior to the fight (at least in HP). Also, the reason these IVs are so low is because in Generation 1, the maximum IV value was 15. They might be some sort of code: 74112.
Charizard - 158 HP
0 EVs/7 IVs
Pikachu - 107 HP
0 EVs/4 IVs
Blastoise - 153 HP
0 EVs/1 IV
Gengar - 144 HP
0 EVs/12 IVs
You can check this over again in Pokemon Showdown. Probably not intentional.
HEPBURN has three Pokemon in total:
DER - Lv 15
EMIL - Lv 30
ELUB - Lv 70
I don't know what to make of it. Maybe an anagram?
Also for anyone wondering all of the Pokemon's moves are legit and can be learned by the Pokemon in Generation 1.
Edit: I read another comment, don't know how I missed this.
The trainer's name is GREEN, and the game is likely played on a cart of Pokemon Green, a port of Pokemon R/B/Y only released in Japan. You can't trade from Pokemon Green to a US copy of Pokemon R/B/Y, nor can an "English" setting be enabled in these games. Older games just had to be bought in specific versions to include your language. The description states that this game is modded, which might be reason for the Dark-type bite, and English text (though I'm not sure if English characters are even programmed into Pokemon Green.)
The "Pokemon" that HEPBURN sends out are anagrams for colors.
The first and last are of RED (DER) and BLUE (ELUB), the primary protagonist and antagonist of the other two games, who have a Charizard and Blastoise on the cover. Yellow isn't a character within Pokemon Yellow, funnily enough, where Red still serves as the protagonist and Blue serves as the antagonist.
GREEN possesses all of the U.S. cover Pokemon: Charizard, Blastoise, and Pikachu.
The only thing missing is Venusaur, the last starter and the cover art Pokemon for Pokemon Green. It is replaced with a Gengar. Considering they both have the same secondary typing and the ghost from the beginning states that you 'betrayed them' by 'still being here'. Venusaur might have been 'killed' and replaced with the only fully evolved Kanto Ghost type.
EMIL is the only "Pokemon" left, where @feelin kinda goofy stated that it's possibly an anagram for LIME. The combination of Yellow and Green.
Do what you will with this information.
Edit 2: got called a nerd 😔
Something about the last pokemons sprite makes me think of venasaur
This is a very high effort comment. Congrats

HAH, NERD!
I think the worst thing of all is the implication that the broadcast killed a lot of it's viewers at the end due to the frequency that played when the entity said "listen"
? I don’t understand what do you mean
what?
Because the apparent unknown reason why the child died, and it might have been the frequency in the last bit that affects people. Also that might be one of the reason why it's not published anywhere regarding the case, it's being covered up by the government (?)
@@zodiakw8963 the vibingleaf just cut out the part because they down want to make viewers died by broadcast
@@gamedevelopmentstudiobyark3294 I’m sorry but there isn’t a frequency high enough possible on youtube to injure someone’s ears, due to youtube’s spund compression
I like how the ghost in the game misunderstood you as the kid who was the puppet of this entity, implying that you came back disobeying him.
What's scary is that the kid has a Charizard AND a Blastoise! You can only have one starter per game file unless you trade with another person with a game. That means this kid had to have connect this cursed game with another one! Imagine if the entity within could spread its influence that way!
not to mention a gengar which also requires trading to evolve
Man this feels like an actual old tape i could find in an attic. Your video making skills keep improving and its so impressive
That last image of what I ASSUME to be Elub… Or whatever that is, is absolutely terrifying. Imagine being a little kid, playing Pokemon all alone, and you’re left with that horrifying image, and whatever happens after. What I like is that the entities detour from the game’s style; they’re pixelated, yet have such more high detail compared to the other sprites. You did a great job replicating a Pokemon related aspect of horror!
It's like those enemies from the Organic Level
It’s just another form of Hepburn/Ghost
I’m telling you, VibingLeaf should totally make an actual horror game using their style of horror. I would play the shit out of it and recommend it to as many people as possible lmao.

Interesting! I don’t think this is based on any creepy pasta that’s existed before. The tape looks like it cut out, because I don’t think that someone just saying “listen” is normal.
Way better then the simple lavender town syndrome I was expecting!
I believe this might be based on Pokémon Black, albeit loosely
I think its based off pokemon creepy black. Its a creepypasta about you having a ghost pokemon in your team for seemingly no reason, it gets every enemy pokemon scared which prevents them from attacking your ghost, it allows you to use a move named "curse", killing your enemies, if youre on a trainer battle, then at the end of the fight, youll be able to either kill the trainer themselves, or let them go. After you beat the elite 4 and become champion, you get a timeskip, showing an old version of red, you have to walk back to your old home, and stand right qhere you began the game, then you get into a battle against the ghost, however, red cant hurt him, he'll just use STRUGGLE over and over again, the ghost wont attack red, but once your hp is almost at 0, the ghost will use curse on you.
I feel like it's a combination of Black and Lavender Town syndrome
I think it might be based off of the Lavender Town Syndrome story, but I could be wrong
It could probably be based on the lesser known "Come Follow Me"
So, I tried to figure out the meanings behind the names.
Hepburn is a surname that means “a high place beside the water”, and/or “high burial mound”. The second meaning relates a lot to the Buried Alive creepypasta.
Elub is an anagram of Blue, and Der is just Red backwards.
Emil is a name that means "rival". It’s also Lime backwards, but I don’t know if that relates to anything.
Lime is a Combination of Green and Yellow, which are Gen 1 games.
Lime is also a colour, a colour like Green which is the player's name in the video. That might be important
"Der" also mean "The" in german. No idea if that's helpful in any way.
Elub (Blue) Der (The) Emil (Rival)
so blue fucking died and he'a now buried at lavender tower
At first glance, I assumed this was some kind of a retelling of Lavender Town Syndrome (with the kids jumping off of balcony thing) but this is actually really weird. The entities that the trainer fights look like it wasn't even from that system with how detailed they look. Very amazing stuff.
Huh, it's interesting how the child died jumping off a balcony, and when you boot the game where they left off it clearly says "You betray me" pointing that the game somehow manipulated the child into killing themselves and if they ever came back they would be punished for it (or they did come back and were scared into jumping by the message we see)
I'm pretty impressed and found this really good!!
The fact that this actually loops into itself PERFECTLY speaks for itself.
OH GOD IS TRUE
I only realized that the infamous “lavender town syndrome” frequency was playing at the very end when Hepburn/Elub (Cant tell which one was supposed to be talking at the end there) told me to listen, even though the news story said that the boy killed himself
That’s genuinely a really clever twist and use of foreshadowing, bravo
Gotta love it when there's 37 haunted spirits inside my game cartridge
the likes.
This man is one of the only reasons I have hope in analog horror. His talent is remarkable 🔥
Not just analog horror, but the entirety of creepypastas as well.
I think he makes digital horror
Yeah all the horror content he makes is amazing and gives me hope for all horror.
My man is single handedly carrying all of horror 🫡
This isn't analog
I'm glad you finally did something Pokemon related! Pokemon translates into horror really well because it basically just the real world but with some wacky creatures, therefore it can be taken more seriously than something more cartoony like Sonic or Mario. Overall really great stuff, can't wait to see what you create next! :D
The scariest part about this are the movesets
i love how this actually looks like a real live report
Did anyone else notice how the first monsters name is red spelt backwards and the lasts is an anagram for blue. Its also noteworthy that the second monsters name could be an anagram for lime, a combination of yellow and green, which takes on a whole new meaning when the players name is green, and the cartridge is of pokémon green. Blue also telling the player to listen at the end is possibly a reference to lavender town syndrome.
If this is ever continued (which i hope it is(great job by the way)) the colour's, specifically green, will be very important
Edit. Another thing i noticed is that he has all the box cover Pokémon (charizard, blastoise and Pikachu) but not venusaur. Instead he has a gengar.
Could it be that whatever is haunting the cartridge has to do with what happened to the venusaur?
The face at the end also reminds me of buried alive
Bule
But "elub" spelt the other way is "Bule". If it was "blue" backward then it would be "eulb" on screen.
I didn't realise the error in the fact the monsters name was not blue spelt backwards. I have corrected it now
@@CeroColaZ I've corrected it
I wouldn't let that happen to me personally, i would've rolled up with a competitive team of Tauros, Chansey, Snorlax, Mewtwo, Starmie, and Zapdos

I must say that the quality of these videos are top notch especially considering not every ending is a bad and gory one, some still being bad but not that much so and some even being wholesome, keep it up
i think this is my new favorite from you. Pokemon horror is almost never executed well but this is outstanding.
really good video, minor nitpicks for future Pokémon related videos:
- the text is monospaced in the original games
- in gen 1 the message is “One-hit KO!”
- the Pokémon menu seems to be off some places by one pixel but I can’t tell exactly why
It seems the gigachad of all gaming myths has been gifted a vibing leaf remake.
I absolutley love that it gives you false hope by having charizard one shot the first two "pokemon"
Really makes it scarier, as if its toying with you
Theres something about their designs that never fail to be horrifying
Every time a new horror video gets recommended to me, and when i click on it i see it's good, it's every time a VibingLeaf new video! Keep it up man!
Nintendo then went on to sue the mother $15,000,000 for piracy
*I imagine that after this was shown, everyone watching jumped of of the highest point they could against their will.*
This is honestly the best way I've seen Pokémon horror done its legitimately phonemical, cant wait to see more of your vids you make great stuff man .
Okay that is really sick VibingLeaf, did not expect a Pokémon video, thank you so so much! Really enjoyed it.
Now for some constructive criticism, I do wanna point how the fainting animation is a bit too smooth for the Game Boy, a similar approach to how the games did it would make it a bit more genuine, as well as not making them fade out while fainting. Fadeouts to the Pokémon selection screen are also a bit smooth, maybe a white flash (or black to give it a bit more of that false copy feel) would work best. Won't note about the health bar being depleted during the hit, since I think that gives it to the false copy feel as well.
Ofc, sprite wise won't say nothing: I love your art style and it def sells that haunted look the video's going for. Plus it would be hard to make them full on disturbing with 4 exact pixel colors, so yeah I'm fully okay with it. And about the report itself, that's a 10/10, very realistic and without flaws!
Again, just some constructive points from my behalf! The video itself is amazing (like pretty much your other works!) and I fully enjoyed it.
Keep it up, we love your stuff and you have a big, unmatched talent
I like the detail of the top being cropped down a little since it makes it more realistic in some way along with the background noise and the translations from the editor like this was recorded on vhs or something and then uploaded somewhere, even the way the ghost like Pokémon look do look like something from a fake or hacked Pokémon game form back in the day, good job!! I would love to see more things like this in the horror/analog horror community more often to be honest
this feeling of getting destroyed by the last pokemon in a battle is so real for me
This has so much lore potential I wouldnt be surprised if MatPat makes a game theory about this, what a family friendly vibe
If MatPat reviews any of Leaf's videos, a swarm of chilren would flood Leaf's channel, and do god knows what to Leaf's health and motivation.

@3Eyes4Watching Leaf bouta traumatize those children 💪💪🔥🔥🗣🗣
Vibing Leaf is so unbelievably good
Ok, the "Listen" part at the end could have been cut (at least in universe, it's obvious that it is to add a unsettling vibe) for probably one of these reasons:
-It would start playing a sound that would hypnotize people into jumping to their deaths, like how the kid ended jumping from a building
-"Ghost" would probably share information that a human mind would be unable to handle or comprehend, thus the child eventual suicide to escape whatever horrors they learned
-"Ghost" steals the victim's soul, leaving a husk in it's place
-A frequency that drained the person who is listening of any will to live, leading to suicide
Or
-Everybody that watched that broadcast died, making the Japanese goverment trying to delete any trace of that video due to how lethal it is
probably Lavender Town Syndrome
Most likely the 1st and 5th option combined, there's a hearted comment saying that its scary how the cutoff implies it killed multiple broadcast viewers. Heart probably means its canon.
ive been looking at a lot of crappy pokepasta lately and wondering what someone like you could do with some fresh takes on them. ecstatic to see this. hope there's more pokemon stuff in the future
God, this is by far one of the best videos you have ever uploaded, its so good!
Man I'm just so mind blown by how accurate this is to the pokemon style.
The soul talking to the player said to the child to jump of the balcony or face a punishment. When the game got booted up again the spirit tought that it was the child, so he ‘punished’ the player in which his soul was captured in the game
This is very well done
This is really good!! I love Japanese horror videos.
This definitely gives me the unnerving feeling even when witnessing what has even happening on the new report, and even when encountering an unknown character that only you will see, but not anyone else. Like a personalized copy.
Anyways, fantastic job with your own take on a Pokémon horror style. Can't wait to see what you'll do next
Yoo this is awesome! Love your work Leaf :)
I noticed that "Hepburn" is a system of romanization for the Japanese language and their "Pokemon" are all anagrams of Red, Lime, and Blue respectively.
Bro this is so good especially with the subtitles and different language makes the aura so different
It doesn't even sound like a normal Japanese.
Impressive work! But I'm confused, what language does the news anchor use?Is that Japanese creole,Okinawan,or Yilan Creole?
Imagine a young japanese child watching the news about a kid gone missing after playing pokémon, while playing pokémon at the same time
Paranormal entities resisting the urge to possess game cartridges and influence the behavior of children:

Are the spirit opponents meant to be the souls of trainers? Their names are Red, Lime and Blue (but backwards). Could one of those be the rival character? This seems like the Pokémon Black creepypasta, but a slightly different plot and I like that. The video seems zoomed in when I watch the video in full screen, but I’m not sure if that is intended or not.

This is actually a pretty cool concept
Pokémon creepypastas used to always trip me out, Lavender Town was the cause of it because some frequencies in the original song like are headache causing sounding you know.
I liked the touch where the subtitles were grammatically bizzare/sounds weird when said, as if it were a translation error between the languages
the way the reporter speaks japanese is so funny to me
maybe because of the robot tone

besides that everything looks great

Vibingleaf, I think you should do a remake of "Ben Drowned" cause if you think about it there would be Ben's mother in a huge amount of grief that her son died while drowning in a lake but cuts to the player playing the Zelda game that is corrupted or pirated version of the game that has scary and graphics elements. This is an idea for your next video because I though you were really good at making scary but also sad reimagined videos based on Creepypastas.😊
"HEPBURN"
possibly "help" and "burn"?
"der" "emil" and "elub" what could they mean? (wait "blue" "lime" and "red" like red green and blue?)
also "listen" at the end? hmmmmmmmmmmm
Well shit now I want more footage of this cartridge because I wanna know more about what happened before and after this footage was recorded. Good job!
i wonder if one of the news crew members was the one who was able to get footage (whether they were familiar with pokemon or not). its also pretty interesting how whoever the entity was couldn't seem to distinguish that the current player wasn't the deceased child.
It’s Pokémon altered copy. 3:22 where it says “listen” it’s probably when the GameBoy emits some sort of radio waves which affect the brain. Causing so much distress to the point where you just want to die. Which is probably what it means by “listen”. Be careful where you get GameBoy cartridges from.
finally, a well polished pokemon creepypasta.

So did a quick Google search and googling Hepburn says - The origins of the name are suggested to be the same as that of Hebborne from the Old English words heah ("high") and byrgen ("burial mound") and then shows the next 2 Pokemon having their names reversed DER is red, EMIL is lime and then ELUB I think is suppose to be blue :3 I think this is a redone version of buried alive but I honestly have no clue >~
I feel like this is a celebration of every gen 1 Pokemon creepypasta, since there seems like there are elements of Strangled Red and Black Version also in this video.
P.S. - Elub is not blue backwards; though it could be done as a red herring or some sort of scrambling of the word instead.
The fact that the gameplay resembles as his room was a neat idea!
Leaf be holding everyone at gunpoint to pump out masterpieces like this lmao 💀
Ngl tho this was some creepy shit, especially with the whole japanese news channel that showed up at first stating what had happened and seeing how real it is was so uncanny
The fact that the gameplay shown was after the child had alt + f4’d himself tells me that the ghost told him to do it or convinced him to before the gameplay. Idk tho what do you guys think?

Nice creepypasta! :D
One small note though, the font spacing for the dialogue boxes isn’t quite right. The space width seems correct, but the letters are a bit too close together compared to the actual game.
A great way to get the exact spacing would be to put an actual game screenshot into your video editor, then adjust the letter spacing in your editor using the same text as in the screenshot to line it up. This will give you the correct letter spacing settings for any custom text you want to add!

People are saying lavender town syndrome but this looks like it's actually supposed to be Pokemon Black (not the modern game, I mean the pasta).
