    Heh Scott. What is the wattage on the bulb, and what material did you use to make the blades? The way you laced the bottom of the shade really topped it off. Great craftsmanship!

      Hi Charles, I used aluminum flashing material for the blades and you are seeing it spin with a 60 watt bulb. A 75 watt will make it sping faster and a 100 watt will get it going super fast. Thanks

    I would love to know how to make these. You should do a DYI video

      Believe it or not, it would be super hard to make such a video. There's too many things that go into making one. Parts of it are real simple, but others are long and time consuming. Most of my recent videos take overnight to upload to RUclips anymore. My internet is slow. If you study the shade you will see that it is nothing more than a truncated cone template with the graphic printed on it. The top is a metal fan blade that I cut. from aluminum. You can probably create your own fan blade graphic and cut out the blades. I print out my fan blade graphic and tape it to the metal and then cut right on my lines thru the metal. Now here you can make it a bit easier and cut a cardboard circle and cut your fanblades out of that. I've done that for cheaper versions of the shades. Now comes the hard part. Your fan blade will need a perfectly centered hole in the middle. In that hole I glue a piece of domed glass that I hand cut. That is were the pinpoint will sit and allow it to spin freely. A buddy of mine came up with a great a decorative piece of glass. He used a mini Christmas ornament ball and put the pike thru the center hole and glued the ornament to the top of the fan blade. The pin point goes into the ornament and hits the top of the ornament and allows it to then spin. You will have to be careful not to push the pinpoint thru the glass ball though, as the glass on those is real thin. Then you have a fun glass ball on the top of the shade as a decoration. I hope this helps, because I really can't see how to make a decent and cohesive video on the "how to" of this. Best of luck.

    Hello, could i buy one of the bulb clip on motors ? Tom

      Hi Tom, There is not a clip on motor. The top of the shade has a glass dome installed in the middle and then the shade comes with my clip-on pin-point holder. The shade rests on the glass dome and then spins from the heat of the light bulb rising , through the fan louvers.

      @@tom3239 Now I understand. It's odd that one of the shades has come up for auction, as I only just started making them in the last 10 years or so. Anyway, You can email me at c6lites@hotmail.com and we can discuss getting a clip-on pinpoint to you.

      @c6lites  5 лет назад

      Hi Joseph, I just realized that you sent me a request about purchasing the spinning shade. Normally RUclips always sends the messages, but I never got yours. anyway, you can contact me thru my gmail c6lites@gmail.com and we'll talk about it. If you want one for sure you can let me know, I will make it and send you an invoice for $100, plus whatever the shipping is to you. Then you can paypal me or send a Postal Money order and I will then send it out.

    So what you are selling are reproductions not originals!

    • @c6lites
      @c6lites  3 года назад +2

      Yes, They are reproductions as stated many times in the video. These lamps and shades were very cheaply made back in the 1920's. Hence, not many have survived. most importantly, the lampshades. Many vintage Christmas collectors have the lamps, BUT, not the shade. So I started making them.
