The cost to get into the top 3 for a qb is too high and we have way too many needs to throw away 2-3 future first round picks for a qb. Doesn't matter who is under center when your team allows the most sacks in the NFL. They need to get a new tackle and try Evan Neal at guard and get a #1 receiver.
If you watch that o-line play and think it can be fixed by coaching and a qb then there's really nothing even worth talking about. Trading up is looking really smart for the Panthers right now right? Don't have the assets to help Bryce Young. Trading up for RG3 went well for the redskins right? He's already out of the league. The bears trading up for Mitch Trubisky went well right? Dude might not even be good enough for a backup spot in this league. Trading up for Jared Goff worked out for the Rams right? They needed to trade Jared away to get their super bowl with Stafford. The only time it has worked when trading up that high with the number of picks required to give up you could argue is the Rams for Goff because they made it to a Super Bowl with him. You need to mortgage your entire future to move up just to take someone who statistically plays a position with the highest miss rate of first-round draft picks by position. The Giants unfortunately need a bridge qb and maybe try and find a gem outside the first round. Personally I think they should trade one of their second-round two picks for Fields, draft Nabers with the 6 pick, and use the other second round pick on a tackle or make a trade for a tackle while moving Neal to gaurd.

The Bengals drafted Joe Burrow with the #1 overall pick with No O Line very few weapons and an unremarkable defense after going 3-13, and were in the Super Bowl 2 years later. First you get your QB, then you surround them with high end talent, ideally in the same offseason, sometimes the next year. Then you start competing for championships.

It’s not the last of the positions you should fill but in the Giants case it is one of their strongest positions. Of all premium positions, QB is the one where NYG have the best quality. The last of the Giants problems
As long as we have Jones we will live in mediocrity, the answer shouldn't be a lot of good quarterbacks haven't won Superbowls, lots of quarterbacks are competitive and give their teams chances to win and thus make it to the playoffs so they CAN be in a position to go to the Superbowl. This is a case where saying I have faith isn't justified, it should be: we believe he has the talent and skill. Faith is blind and saying this means you are hoping for miracles. Daboll and schoen are going to be abysmal failures. We need to trade for a new GM and a new coach.

@@patsmith1129 yea and they went 4-11 in 2020, this is not a new staff and regime, they don’t have another year to have a losing record, if they draft Caleb Williams first overall QB and he doesn’t get them a winning record for what ever reason, Joe and Daboll are gone and that means a whole new staff and system to mess up the QB that Joe selected specifically for their regime and no 1st round picks for next years draft to help C Caleb. Why take that risk when we have at the very least a top 15 QB when healthy and just build around him and finally get the roster right, we have yet to see what DJ looks like with a good roster, idk about you but I want to see that especially now that he is in his prime and there will be time to get a rookie and let him sit like what Green Bay does, there’s other ways of getting good QBs. Like Joe said there are great QBs who haven’t won rings yet, Josh Allen being a obvious one

I get you have the Joe burrows and the Payton manning but look at all the other 1st overall QB busts, Bryce isn’t a bust yet but hell the panthers just showed us why you don’t throw a massive haul for a 1st overall what if unless you are a new regime and can afford 2-3 years to develop them which Joe and Daboll don’t have. It would be different if we were sitting at 1st overall but moving up even to 3 isn’t worth it. That makes less sense to me then sticking with a QB who, like him or not, is capable of winning, there’s no real reason to rush the process, a healthy dj is giving you atleast 7 wins a season. I’m taking that over a what if and extending my time as a Gm over putting a rookie on a holed filled roster

As long as we have Jones we will live in mediocrity, the answer shouldn't be a lot of good quarterbacks haven't won Superbowls, lots of quarterbacks are competitive and give their teams chances to win and thus make it to the playoffs so they CAN be in a position to go to the Superbowl. This is a case where saying I have faith isn't justified, it should be: we believe he has the talent and skill. Faith is blind and saying this means you are hoping for miracles.
