    I tell my brain that sleep will come. I don’t concentrate on my fear of not falling asleep because as per your teachings sleep is a passive process, sleep happens when sleep decides it will happen so it is out of my hands. Thank you so much for helping me understand that Alina.

    Hi alina. Could you do a video goi g on holiday or a trip away from home during insomnia recovery journey? I'm going on holiday in in a few months. Although I'm starting to do a little better it's always in my mind that I have this upcoming holiday. I don't want it to be ruined. I know that it's this way of thinking that will keep me stuck but it's just so hard. I've been thinking of cancelling but I don't want to let this insomnia control my life. I would really appreciate your input ❤

    Hi Coach,
    So I read someones comment somewhere where they were stuck in a loop of insomnia. 4-5 days of no sleep followed by a day or two of sleep and then no sleep again. This had been going on for a while. In this situation, the person has had sufficient exposure to wakefulness. As per him, the first two days weren’t anxiety driven but the nights that followed after were. In such a situation how does one tackle the situation.

  • @pelilin2519
    @pelilin2519 Год назад +1

    Long term insomnia that has dealt some damage will need additional trauma therapy instead of just treating the anxiety behind it. Which mean exposure with the fear will be needed.

    I am not sleeping since it's already morning time and I want to stay up longer until my body is calmer and I could sleep more than an hour haha... so I'm gonna attempt to simply live my life and show my brain it is safe.

    Thank you again for providing wonderful content. I have had chronic insomnia for 3 years. I gave up the whole sleep hygiene, sleepy teas, melatonin. They never helped. I gave up worrying about it, but the insomnia will not go away. I deal with generalized anxiety. My Dr wants me to give anxiety medication a chance. Do you feel that living with generalized anxiety can cause the chronic anxiety?
    God Bless you

    • @FearlessSleep
      @FearlessSleep  Год назад +7

      Hi Michael, you know, I was always wondering where was the line between generalized anxiety and chronic anxiety and all other anxiety disorders. I thought before I had generalized anxiety and what I discovered was that I was using the same coping strategies on all life events. What if all types of anxieties are just uninvestigated beliefs and fears that need to be uncovered and faced? 🤔 Can't say much about the medication and - but as far as I know there hasn't been invented a pill that would disable our safety mechanism (i.e. fear)

    • @wednesdayschild3627

    In the stuck in the loop video, you show us that breaking the vicious circle by accepting that awake fullness is not the right way to do. But in this video you emphasize that accepting awake fullness is the solution to insomnia.
    Could you elaborate more on this point?
    Thanks

    • @FearlessSleep
      @FearlessSleep  Год назад +5

      Thanks for your comment! I will try to clarify this because I think that my "loop" video was misunderstood. In the video i was talking about how trying to break the cycle is what keeps us in the cycle. And when we try hard to accept or try hard to feel at peace in oder to break the cycle, we sre actually adding more pressure. Because we are using the acceptance as an effort to escape unpleasant emotions instead of showing the brain that it is okay to experience any outcome. The key word here is "trying hard" and that's what I said in relation to acceptance in that video. Acceptance can't be forced, because then it is more likely to turn out to become resistance. So when it is impossible to accept something at the moment, it can be more helpful to let go of trying hard to accept. That is the path to the real acceptance we are talking about here :) Hope this makes sense! I was explaining this more in depth in my blog post www.sleepcoach.sk/how-to-practice-acceptance/ i hope it will bring more clarity!

      You didn’t lose it, you began to feel scared of losing it. Work with that fear and you will discover that that experience has never left you but it just got covered up with a layer of hyperarousal.

  • @javixavalier4456
    @javixavalier4456 Год назад

    Quick question, how much sleep per night on average do these people with insomnia get?? Because I seen some people say they barely get 5 hours which is more than enough in my opinion. I get on average 0 hours of sleep per night and never feel sleepy at all. I literally get minutes of sleep per night and never get “huge” chunks like many people claim after going multiple nights of not sleeping.

    The solution you are talking about is exactly the intent bof cognitive behaviour therapy so that confirms that CBT could be effective if done by the right therapist. All you are saying is to twist your beliefs and fear about insomnia and wakefulness so the brain would perceive it as less danger. Changing an automatic mindset or an unconscious belief is the hardest thing a human being can do… the solution itself is frightening and induce a lot of fear cause how are you gonna master that giant automatic system that is out of your control! I might sound negative sorry but this is where my thoughts are, any advice ?
