This episode is definitely not boring, serch is taking us to school with the knowledge he is dropping.
@@user-xs3ou8mr8ptrue indeed !!! We all know drama sells but knowledge lasts a lifetime.
I could be wrong but I think he might be dreaming when it comes to that big future payday. Old timey artists aren't getting rich from Spotify. Hell, young hot artists aren't getting rich off Spotify.
Exactly. It's how you tell it.
@@twatmunro thank you someone with sense!!! I love serch but he's gotta stop over exaggerating when he talks. saying the 3rd bass cactus album streams 250 million a year. Or even that illmatic streams 500 million a year. I'm sure illmatic does well but 500 million streams a year ... maybe but I highly doubt it.
@@lveww I’m taking it as every platforms streams together. RUclips Spotify apple google play tidal jpay radio, whatever else all together. Not impossible
This pure education. Every kid wanting to get the industry needs to be listening to this.
They don't even look at stuff like this

Word!!!
@@keshownaallen3599 damn shame
The sad thing society is failing our future(all children).
This is hands down the most educational interview Math has done.
How? This information will never benefit you a day in your life. You’re not a rapper and never will be.. Guy, you’re just some drunk drug addict average Joe
Drink champs used to do this type of stuff in the beginning
@@tiqboom7390 EFN makes drink champs somewhat educational. Nore is well Nore😂
@@eddy562 you need to relax
guru was the best, this is a close second..
You're not boring us fam... you're droppin gems!
Exactly..every person needs to understand the economics of the game and how the numbers game is played!

Legend has it Serch still trying to open that bottle of water
Lol, good catch!
I’m watching the video and scrolling comments and as soon as I read this I was at the 9min mark and he did it about four times. Lol
😂
lol....word.
Now that's funny af
Serch is a legend one of the only white rappers to actually have respect for the culture & actually pay artist alot more money then other labels &never heard of him doin weird shit to our people so salute to him for always being a respectful dude HOFFA u really killing the Content game givens us Classic episodes salute to Math man he deserves everything coming his way the money fame & clout in this industry he came along way
Man, I've learned so much from this dude in the few clips released so far. Nothing but knowledge from this dude. After all the figures Meek put out earlier this week too.
1000%
Be honest which successful white rappers don’t respect the culture? Most do. There is only a handful anyway.
LOL what are you talking about? He never had artists on a label. He had a production deal. Furthermore Serch was part of a GROUP why he didn't talk about his group members? He won't even mention them by name. Why is that? MF DOOM didn't rock with him. Pete Nice don't rock with him. Why is that? They aren't asking him these questions but they badgered Yayo about the Game. Let's stop handling wht rappers with kid gloves if we don't extend that courtesy to our own.
@@PardonMyPresence to be fair, DOOM didn’t rock with most people, bro. He was a recluse. RIP to the legend though. And it’s common to have issues with former group members. It’s not easy, bro. Unless we know the story, we can’t assume it’s anything more than the usual issues that tear these groups apart: ego
This conversation is more valuable and more interesting than 6 dudes yelling “ey yo!” For 2 hours.
Thank you MC search for dropping the game it was far from boring you are such an educated person I can see why Nas and Eminem and all the other people that you've come across were blessed to deal with you I still remember stepping in the a.m. and you guys were the coolest white boys ever peace love and music Troy Bellow the Profit
Much needed Gems 💎
Serch doesn’t realise that we are all still listening even though he thinks he’s talking about boring stuff. His knowledge on a lot of things is incredible and truly fascinating to hear
It was condescending for him to think we want "Moneybagg yo and dababy" over learning the business don't let that go over ya head.
@@PardonMyPresence na you taking it wrong, a lot of people just want crazy entertaining stories
@@spirosbotos9967 no YT is one of the greatest sources of information. Most come here to learn. Learning is a form of entertainment. I enjoy learning new things.
@@PardonMyPresence he said he was just playing you're taking it for being disdainful

This is has been my favorite podcast so far. The transparency… good job Math!!!
NO NO NO, this is not boring, this is reality. Artist who don't know need to hear this "INFORMATION" so they don't get took. Keep the 🔥coming so we can all step into the A.M.
Love these stories. Its like a history lesson of HipHop.
This episode is far from boring; I'm a finance person that worked in the industry. This is very needed throughout the music industry. This should be added into a music 101 class for people getting into the music industry.
Exactly bro!
Serch dropping mad jewels, I’m really enjoying this interview
Serch didn’t bore me not one min, this is the exact kinda knowledge every single artist or musician should have a full understanding of before investing into themselves period. This is what the cactus album was trying to tell you decades ago.
Hell no. Not boring at all Serch the way you tell your story your always on point and honest
I cant get enough of this guys stories and have been down a deep af rabbit hole since I saw the first vid the other day 😂❤ Im a white 40 somethin woman from Scotland,UK and had never heard of MC Serch despite bein a hiphop fan from the age of 14 when I gt to see the amazing Naughty by Nature live in London❤ OPP was massive here at tht time n opened my little teenybopper eyes to the most beautiful artform to ever exist ❤Thank u Math and team for helping me and the world feed our thirst for the real history and knowledge of a culture tht obviously never will belong to my ppl but still speaks to my soul in a way I cant even explain , words always were my thing n since I could read and write I loved writing poems and stories as it was as natural to me as breathing , it was only a matter of time til the talent of these artists became my passion ❤Self expression , baring ur deepest darkest secrets in the hope tht maybe someone somewhere feels all of it and can relate , even could be healed hearing ur words honestly is the fkn bravest act any human can do imo, ora bangin beat n lyrical miracle can change ppls mood in a heartbeat 😂big up all of u , realest shit Ive seen in way too long xxxx
These jewels help us artist in latin america also

and salute to Hoffa great interview
Props to Math for the whole series. Every episode is pure class. This one right here tho is the best one so far. I knew Serch was a legend but he was before my time and i knew not alot about him. After this tho, I have a higher level of respect for this man.
The knowledge he is sharing is invaluable and not spoken about often.
I don't normally comment this much but i feel i speak for everyone watching when i say that what you are doing will be remembered as a pivotal contribution to hip hop.
nah Search, IM glad to hear this...TALK ABOUT IT
Dude I love this type of hip hop talk. It's fascinating to know the business side of it.
Glad to hear people still listening to the cactus album. My best friend loved them and turned me on to it back then and have kept it in my collection, and break it out for a spin from time to time. And actually yeah, Serch i am still listening to your story, not boring at all, but im an old dude and love hearing behind the scenes
Hearing search tell the story about his mom reminds me of my pops. On my 18th birthday, he walked into my room hugged me and said happy birthday, and then told me rent was due on the 1st! Made me a more responsible adult! Thank pops r.i.p.🙏
I love that! He wanted you to be a responsible man. You were blessed.
I got 500 dollars and a loaf of bread and shown the door at 18 😝😝😝😝
The man schooling rappers for 40 years. Not a huge fan of his music but this man deserves respect.
🤣🤣🤣no he ain't...
This was monumental for the culture. Real Hip Hop for life
Every hip hop artist should talk to this guy. This is not boring at all. You are dropping knowledge. A lot of people are taking notes and learning from these conversations. I didn’t know the business side of the game.
Got mad respect for this dude this whole interview is knowledge on the music and the level of respect he has for the hip hop culture is exactly 💯
The Search and Guru interviews felt like a learning experience. It's one of the reason's I like Joe Rogan. Plus I love the culture and this is needed for it too grow.
This is literally one of the best (if not the best) interviews I've seen them do. WISH I could be in the same place at the same time with Search..💯
W/MC Serch...one of the best, Honest and most educational episodes yet 💯
Great stuff Math 😎👍
Watchin them all tryna do that math and then still come up with the wrong answer was hilarious 🤣
This show is like going to school to study the golden age of hip-hop. Keep up the good work.
I can’t wait to see this whole interview 🎉🎉
Nah we needed this knowledge Salute
Nothing boring about this conversation. This is all helpful info we all need especially in the music business. Always know your business, own your masters and make sure you get a great lawyer that knows how to read contracts.
This is the stuff everyone wants to hear, Serch
Fam, THIS is what we want to hear Serch 🤘 you a legend
This is a very important conversation to have I'm glad you guys are doing it
Thanks Search! We wanted to know this information!
*Not bored at all..... Thanks for the business advice 💯💯💯*
This is knowledge! Thank you Search!
Great interview…..Kudos‼️
6 grown men couldnt calculate 4 points on 10 dollars is 40 cents?
Luckily we have you
That spoke volumes
Not 40 cents though its 4 Cent
@@dirtyglovekennels616 Even if it was 2 cent, nobody said anything. That spoke volumes. Most people are not good with math. Labels are counting on that signing younger artists. Not knowing math, and not wanting to read contracts is the avoidable trap that so many didnt avoid.
@@dirtyglovekennels616 isn't 4 points 4% or 0.04? Multiply $10 and its 0.4 or 40 cents per album
I love listening to Serch talk about the business & everything that goes with it.
Love the interview
Thank you for this. These Serch interviews are great.
Man this setup is better and the interviews are better than what LeBron James was trying to do with "the shop".. keep it up Math
Yeah brah Lebron's setup is a millionaires barbershop that people watching no can relate to but Math's setup is 100% more in touch wit da people watching. This setup is right on
I don't think he realizes how much the knowledge he's delivering is really worth.
Great interview
Best interview ever. Salute to third bass and the homie serch!
This is one of the most interesting pod subjects on any show anywhere! Peace to Serch. RIP DANIEL DUMILE!!!
search actually has no idea how much we wanna hear this side of the game. I thank him for trying to be respectful of our time but our respect for him allows us to learn from him. good shit guys. n
This is such great information!!!!
This is one of my favorite episodes...Search just walks you through the stories and through his journey...it's so many lessons and gems .
Please release this whole interview asap MATH BRO C'MON MANE!!!
I love hearing this shit broke down like this it's actually the most realistic shit
DJ Search this is the best interview hands down. You are explaining alot of stuff to us hip hop heads never knew. Basically ur breaking down a lot of knowledge and we appreciate this. Best video Math hands down ❤🙏🏾💯
Thank you Search! Eye opening!
Serch saying Russell signed them to a bum deal is crazy when you consider Russell was the one who threw that giant pack of Newports at them in the "Gas Face" video.
Wow!! Great interview.
GREAT INTERVIEW I LOVE HEARING ABOUT THE BUSINESS
Serch is always dropping jewels on every interview he does. 🚀✨
Master Class!!!!!
Great interview , needed to hear this
Definitely wanted to hear this💯
Serch is a real one. He's got 3+++ decades in this game and he knows the game inside and out.
I'm praying to God Math ask him about Bushwick Bill and he tells some of his stories of time spent with Bill/shit he saw happen
Wrong. It's not boring. We need to here this so we know what's going on behind the scenes. Thanks team for pushing and trying to get more exposure on the subject.
Damn I can’t wait to watch the whole thing!
Math... good to see you again brother! Actually the best episode I've seen.
Search is such a genius. He knows the music business so well
He had the grey area information that most artists aren't privy to before signing their first deal
Serch spoke on how he dotted the ts and i's for nas while getting him signed to Columbia but whatever he did it must have been agreed to upon the fact that nas wouldn't own his masters. Which is normal practice especially if the artist is a nobody and doesn't have equity. But in hindsight there should have been a clause within the contract maybe where the company would agree to overturn the masters after a certain point. Surely nas had no fckng clue and he's probably fortunate that serch at least did what he did over all but nas still did have a pretty bad deal. And made very little off of his sales
Three words... TRIPLE STAGE DARKNESS
Going into Supreme Wisdom (NOI) and 120 Degree Lessons (5 Percent Nation) theology right there!
Great interview Serch
I'm learning. Keep going!!!
Naw Serch....we listening!!!
Every single aspiring artist needs to watch this interview of they want to stay rich and get rich
We appreciate these gems 💎 you droppin. Salute 🫡
This is the best episode I’ve watched so far. Very educating.
Search on here droppin crazy 💎’s!!!
I wish Pete nice come to the show too
They're still not friends
@@necrophagiakc damn i didn’t hear about that
@@tonyrico2265 he talks about it further in the podcast.
Technically they never were they were put together I kinda remember one of them saying they didn't like each other at first.. of course two white rappers and I think Pete is from Brooklyn so it was a "white rapper from different boroughs" thing going on
Serch this is more important than anything else. It's not boring at all.
Serch was really giving the inside industry numbers in this clip. Every artist and/or aspiring artist should watch this and rewind it 20x until they understand how streaming percentages work.
His numbers are way off
Independents make more than that rate per stream
Great info and knowledge
He's right don't sell yourself short you will be surprised how many of us want to know the ins and out of the game and have the understanding and the knowledge you got so please keep on teaching this is one of the best interviews they have so far nobody cares about 30 bands we care about this world hip Hop knowledge
Correct if I'm wrong but this doesn't just turn over back to the original artist you have to make certain moves in order for it to be given back to you right? Its not an automatic times up here u go thank you lol
Great question
Damn they straight robbing Serch and the rest of 3rd Bass.
That’s straight contractual madness.
I’ll make sure to cop Cactus 🌵 when they release it.
Stay up and thanks for the game Serch.
Sheet’Im watching this Great 👍🏾 Information, SERCH’You Dropping Gems,Sunn…!!! Much Respect ✊🏾 Fam
This is one of favorite interviews. MC Serch really dropping gems. Love it!
This is why rappers get killed off...35 year rule. They never live it out. That's why rappers don't get signed until they 35...smh
i love the knowledge serch has this is a great interview and learning process for me
I like this interview, this some game I needed to hear
Good lookin' out on the music business jargon. Serch is droppin' knowledge that most artists wouldn't know. Stay blessed.
I subscribed cuz of this interview so it's def not boring where else u gonna get gems from biz side esp from a legend who been there and done that great podcast my guys
