Awesome interview. More Gerrans. Especially more about his transition from pro rider to a life outside of cycling. Certainly different to many other pros. I found this really interesting.
Simon is the reason I became a cycling fan. In 2013, bored and channel surfing, I came across this really cute guy with a brilliant smile in a yellow "shirt". I thought "What's he so happy about?" Intrigued, I started watching and realized "OMG, Its the Tour de France!" I was hooked! 😍
Simon Gerrans is a real favorite. The guy is pure class. Thank you for this one! That said, please ask Sean Yates, Evie Richards & Peter Sagan to do a Cafe' Ride!
Thanks again Sigma, what a great insight into Gerrans post cycling career, a real natural Ausie, and Matt evergreen Stephens, please don't ever change Matt.
These Cafe Rides are fantastic, my racing days are long over but I just can't get enough of these. Matt does a terrific job on these interviews and has a great sense f humor.👍
Another superb edition. Extremely interesting. You really have to respect him for taking the chance with finance and he must have a lot about him to not only to get the internship but (I assume from the interview) to be taken on full time. He looks in great shape and clearly hasn’t let himself go. Hopefully, I will bump into him one day in the Surrey hills (sorry in advance Simon!) Great stuff Sigma and Matt. Can’t wait for the next one.
As always a fantastic piece of reporting, why are you guys not on BBC 2. Matt as always a joy to watch, you bring out the best of your interviewees, very natural and sincere. Great work please keep them coming.
Another great ride with another great guest. Such a beautiful park...and to have the encounter with a deer was really neat! Simon was very smart to take advantage of the opportunity with Goldman Sachs. I'll be curious to see where he lands next. (Thanks for the snippet with Paul Sherwen...he is missed!)
Another excellent one Matt. And special kudos to the editor - including those little "bad question" moments - "have you ever been in the scouts or cubs?" - are so great to see. Shows Matt's personality and how the guests open up.
Phenomenal series! Matt is a great interviewer, he does a great job making the conversation fluid. My only criticism is the background noise on this one, was a bit distracting, although at the same time it was cool to see all the other cyclists basically doing the same thing - chatting over coffee
Very nice interview and ride. I wish there were more cafés like that one. Two ex-pros being interviewed but all those obvious cyclist in the background going in and out. That looks like a really cool place to stop along a nice ride. 👍
Love these cafe rides, really like Matt Stevens, so good at this, a natural conversation is so difficult to capture when the camera is on, and none of the usual RUclips waffle. Well done all concerned
Simon Gerrands a gentleman as always. I met him in Herne Hill few months ago. I Didn’t know he was in London then, we had a selfie with my youngest and him, top bloke. I always look forward to this videos, keep them coming!
My first Cafe Ride and it's fellow Aussie Simon Gerrans! Three days ago while out on my daily ride, out of nowhere I think to myself...I wonder where Gerro' (missed him in this year's TdF)is now? Gerro', along with Cadel are my 2 fav. Aussie cyclists. Not only extremely talented but always came across as a nice guy in the peloton. And kudos to him for not following the usual post-professional route(team director, team adviser etc) and doing something out of the box! Loved your morning ride, convo' and coffees. PS: as an animal lover I loved the amazing deer too!!
What another excellent café ride, Simon is so open with his life and his racing career well done Matt as always and to Sigma for putting such a great video together 👍
Out of the whole series it is difficult to name a favourite but this one is up there! With the wonderfully talented Matt Stephens delivering the questions and whit coupled with such a cross-section of interesting past and present cycling talent, this is one of the most entertaining RUclips cycling shows. Infact, so good I have just watched all severn over a couple of Zwift sessions. Keep them coming, these are great! 👍😂🚴😂
These interviews are getting better and better! Love em!! Thanks so much, I get excited when I get a video notification. I genuinely enjoy watching these.
As always Matt what a great show you have going on here! It is always a pleasure to watch! I know a while back you asked for suggestions or who we would like to see you interview and I got one for ya! How about you fly across the pond and do a cafe ride with Justin Williams!! Dude is an amazing crit racer and I bet you two would have a great time!
Interesting video, hadn't realised he had entered the corporate world. Does he commute into the city each day by bike?! Just needed a cameo from Francis Cade to complete the video.......
Be nice to see a Brief once over on what bikes X pro's like Gerro are riding these days & do they buy their own bikes or are they doing the Brand Ambassador type of thing ?
@@sigmasports From the UK maybe Lizzie Banks, Anna Henderson, Abi Van Twisk... Nicole Cooke would be cool. From outside the UK Ceclie Uttrup Ludwig (obviously), Kasia Niewiadoma, Anna VdB (she seems a little hard to read in post-race interviews so longer format could be interesting), Sanne Cant.
Spare a moment for people who are out there who choose not to ridea bike and also not to eat a bacon Sandwich. Two of the finest things life has to offer and people just dismiss these. What a life.
Matt non related question to this awesome video. I’m looking at buying a Trek Domane SL6 but I do like the super six your riding do you really recommend it?
Hi Michael, Matt is riding a Cannondale CAAD13 in this video, it uses the same geometry of the SuperSix Evo but with an aluminium frame. They both have a slightly more aggressive geometry than the Trek Domane which is more of an endurance bike and will be more comfortable over longer rides, both are great bikes though. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks, Lucy
Awesome interview. More Gerrans. Especially more about his transition from pro rider to a life outside of cycling. Certainly different to many other pros. I found this really interesting.
It's an incredibly strategic transition, cleverly done.
Simon Gerrans - always a gentleman when interviewed but a SAVAGE in the race. Top bloke.
I absolutely love watching these cafe rides they are brilliant 🙏🏻

The Cafe Ride videos are great, always look forward to them and this one didn't disappoint. Excellent.
It's a cycling version copy of "Comedians in Cars getting Coffee".
I love this series because you get the nicest people on it. Simon seems like such a cool dude.
Kudos to your audio engineer for providing the perfect background music for Matt and Gerrans' ride. It and Matt made the day seem bright and cozy.
Cheers Russell!

Loving this series, and great to see that there’s life after racing for the pros.
Did any body notice Simons bike especially made for Simon by BASTION cycles manufacturer in Fairfield Victoria Australia
Yes, just around the corner from me. Hmm, when's my tax return coming in again?
Another great ride with another great guest. Such a beautiful park...and to have the encounter with a deer was really neat! From pro-cyclist to Goldman....Chapeau Simon!

Yeah, Giro Café is quite popular among London based cyclist, almost every blogger has done some videos there
Another great piece, Matt. What a great guy Simon seems. Marvellous career, too.
Lot of fun to watch you both. Matt, good to see you again.
Really enjoyed the scenery of London.
Nice to see Gerrans again.
Love these cafe rides, really like Matt Stevens, so good at this, a natural conversation is so difficult to capture when the camera is on, and none of the usual RUclips waffle. Well done all concerned
Thanks for your comments! More episodes coming in 2022.
Great to see Simon on the bike. Good interview, thanks Matt!!
Cafe rides are brilliant Matt keep them going

Sucha a great guy. Really enjoyed his commentary throughout this year's TdF too.
Thank you for an interesting interview and showing a non-tourist view of London riding
Hard to watch without a big smile ,,just love these cafe ride videos !
Excellent series. Good to get a bit of insight into pros after they've moved on to something new. Wish Gerrans all the best.
Ripper Matt thank you once again .Top Australian cyclist and a great bloke to .
Excellent interview - he seems like a nice guy with a sensible head on his shoulders. Great job Matt and Sigma !
Cheers Thomas!
What a great lad! Simon did the talking and Matt the eating...Sweet!
Matt Stephens again superb. Informative, learned a lot about Simon Gerrans. Interesting guy, and he drinks coffee in one of my cycle stops.
We need marcel kittel to come on this tooo!

I've been lucky to meet Matt Hayman and Amanda Spratt at L'Etape and I would have to say they rank high on my list of pro cyclists.
He seems like a thoroughly nice man. Enjoyed that.
Great episode, top bloke Simon, no big ego just got all the t shirts.
What another excellent café ride, Simon is so open with his life and his racing career well done Matt as always and to Sigma for putting such a great video together 👍
Great episode. Excellent interview. Just two guys out riding bikes!

Another great vid. What a thoroughly nice guy. More please!
These interviews are getting better and better! Love em!! Thanks so much, I get excited when I get a video notification. I genuinely enjoy watching these.
Thanks for watching Xavier!
Great chat! Also, that moment when you're doing a 'Cafe Ride' and a Sia look-a-like pulls up in camera shot!
That was an interesting ride. From the City Center to the Forest and Deer. Then, back again.
Gorgeous Gerrans. Always the commensurate gentleman
Now we need an interview with Taylor Phinney
Dan Kochanek the contrast between the two senses of humor might be awkward, yet entertaining 💞
go simon gerrans, go! good mate, what a storied palmares. a sweet interviewing format. i like!
Matts a star so easy to listen to 👍
This is my fav video so far from you guys. Very informative. Simon seems such a good guy. Thx for this episode.
Top drawer series thank you GCN.
so surreal seeing Battersea Park and Richmond Park where I train when I am in London
Nice one Matt! Simon's a decent fella isn't he.. Top viewing as always.. just for future refs.. I wasn't in the scouts either.. 😂

Brilliant once again. Keep them coming 👌
Great interview as always!
Thanks Annet! Glad you liked it. Cheers, Lucy
What a nice, sensible guy, Simon is. Perhaps race commentary ops may come up, liked his strategy info.....
Two top blokes AND SA v Japan in the background! 👌
I look forward to the cafe rides and Matt......never disappoints!
Matt is very good at this, and I come away motivated to ride, even in February - sometimes tough for an old guy like me 74 years.
Glad you enjoyed it! Enjoy your rides!
Love the cafe rides series
Cheers Adrian!
Spot on!👌.
Was Matt taking a sneak peak at the Japan v SA RWC QF on the Giro TV?
Loving the Café ride series. Any chance of posting up some of the routes ridden as you seem to hit some great spots for riding?
Really enjoyable video /interview. 👍
Thanks for watching J!
I fkn love this episodes
Interesting video, hadn't realised he had entered the corporate world. Does he commute into the city each day by bike?! Just needed a cameo from Francis Cade to complete the video.......

Good interview.
your best coffe ride ever
Matt Stephens is a great host
Cool dude. Thanks for sharing.
Another excellent interview, I’m interested in the bike Simon was riding, what was it ( it looked a bit like that boutique brand from Melbourne)?
Derek Craven @bastion cycles 👌
Brilliant video
Thanks Tom!
Great video
Another great chat and incite into a pro cyclist 👍
Thanks for watching!
Good to see a pro managing to transition into corporate world 👍however, I would hate to live in London and ride in London..
After they crossed the river, I was waiting for them to ride down the boarded over steps of a tube station! 😂
Great video as usual. Always look forward to these. Anyone know the song at the 10 minute mark?
Hi Liam, It's called East City Lights by Jake Schlegel. Cheers, Lucy
What is the name of the song at 9:50?
Hi Garry, It's called East City Lights by Jake Schlegel. Thanks, Lucy
This is a great series of videos - I really like the format! Would be cool to have some female riders being interviewed though...
Hi Ben, we're currently working on this! Is there anyone that you would like to see in particular? Thanks, Lucy

Sigma Sports thank you Lucy for getting back to me and excuse my temporary blindness and not noticing it was a CAAD13 😱
@@michaeladamou No Worries at all Michael 🙂
It seems like he content with life
Matt, are you throwing your voice at 6.30? :D
I was really hoping he could drag Richie Porte into the yellow jersey in that last year in BMC, but alas it wasn't to be
How many cafe stops? What mileage did they cover?
What’s the name of the helmet please?
