    Pulling up a dozen crabs per net is insane! Now I see why you like the nets over the traps. So many crabs you get to hand select them. Great job! Always fun to watch a net coming up, never gets old.

      @@blkmacgyver8949 yes access by boat only. But there are piers by the launch and other places in the area that you can drive up to. I saw crabs being caught by the launch. Thanks for watching! 🦀🦀

    Great catch. Saw you look at one’s belly to see if it was a male or female and just wanted to say that you can tell just by looking at the claws. If it has red tipped claws just think of it as fingernail polish and it’s a female, if it doesn’t have fingernail polish then it’s a male.

    • @Marsh-Mechanic
      @Marsh-Mechanic  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks! Yea my grandfather told me that about the fingernail polish. I actually mentioned that 😀. I was showing a female that had not laid her eggs yet. The flap is not as round as one that had. Thanks for watching!!

    FYI I have been fishing and crabbing there for 25 years and just this spring I noticed a sign on dock that said NO FISHING FROM FLOOD CONTROL STRUCTURE. Just so you won't get a ticket you can crab off the left and right walkways but not off the MAIN DAM with the 3 culverts. LWF agent will write you up...JUST saying.

    I never keep small crabs for gumbo. I set them free so they can become big crabs. Just put a normal size crab in your gumbo and set the small crabs free.

    Dang brother did you save any for the rest of us...lol. That's what I call a great day crabbin' and I'm glad to see them really starting to come in. Once this rain stops I plan on getting out there and trying my luck using a different technique then what is the norm around Louisiana along with traditional ways. Great video and I am looking forward to seeing you make a seafood gumbo with some of those crabs among whatever else you cook. God bless and see you on the next one.

      LOL there were plenty to go around! It was a crazy amount. You’re making me hungry for gumbo now. If you want gumbo crabs they are plentiful there that’s for sure! I picked through and got some nice size crabs for boiling. Good luck when you go buddy! I look forward to seeing how you do! God Bless.. 🦀🦀🦀🦀
