Why I’ve switched to Asics (Everything Else Sucks)

- In this video I review the Asics Gel Nimbus 26 and explain why I am switching over to Asics shoes for the foreseeable future. I took these shoes on holiday as my only running shoe, to find out if they're any good - and I came to the conclusion that Asics have clearly become an awesome brand. It's also clear that they have a wide variety of shoes for many different runner - which I'm a big fan of. I compare the Gel Nimbus shoes to the Gel Nimbus 25, the New Balance 1080 v13 and the Nike Pegasus to see which is the best daily trainer. These shoes are great for daily runs, long runs and even a tempo session one in a while!

Novablast 3 just does it all for me 🔥
Me too! Best all around shoe I've ever had.
Whats the difference between gel nimbus and novablast?
@@MrClarkJohansson Novablast a bit quicker and a bit more robust, more for long runs at sustained tempos
bridging the gap between high cushioned shoes and the speedy shoes. Perfect marathon training shoe!
Just started lacing up in anger a few months ago, after a very very long time on the couch.
I tried all the brands I could in my size. Along with a bunch of YT video reviews... I only found Asics to fit my foot shape perfectly, and I haven't regretted them for a moment. The Novablast 3 was on special, and the Trabuco trail shoe was on sale, too. My wife was in Japan when the new Superblast was released- they're 60% of the retail price compared to NZ. Too good to pass up IMO and the fit is perfect again. I learned long ago to wait to buy the best-fitting shoe, and not hope it'll 'break in'
thanks for the vids. great content!! incl. the training plan design last week
Awesome mate! Good to hear you found what works and you’re smashing out the running 🏃
The nimbus 25 was my favourite daily trainer of 2023 🙌🏻 I’m keen to try the 26, although I’ve heard it’s very similar in a good way
Pick them up for sure! Just don’t get a black pair lol 😂
Brand loyalty is a funny thing. I’ve stuck with ASICS for years as a casual runner even though their offerings have been ‘meh’ and really been led by the Kayano for ever (they would feel like I’m wearing clogs now).
Until the last few years, where they’ve sorted their shit out and got serious. This has coincided with me getting more serious with running - Magic Speed - NovaBlast - and now the SuperBlast which is my all time fave daily (I’m buying as many pairs as I can when on sale) In saying that though, I race in VaporFly2’s which I wouldn’t change for anything. Not even sure I want to risk dropping 300 boys on the Metaspeeds just to give them a try.
Get on the SuperBlast wagon if you can. I’m on my second pair, 1100+ kms on the first, and still holding up really well.
@@toasterboy708awesome! Might have to get some superblasts
@@PeakStride you’ll pick a pair up for 25-30% off occasionally from running warehouse. If they ain’t got your size, Asics stores will price match.
@toasterboy708 that’s for the tip! I’ll have a look
Hey nice video, what app are you using for keeping track of your running?
thanks!
Generally I just use the Coros App. Also Strava as it automatically uploads there too
I would recommend the vomero 17. To me thats what the pegasus should be after 40 years. And also look into the ride 17. A good blend of cushion and responsiveness
I’ll see if I can find a pair thanks 🙏
Novablast 3 and nimbus 25 are my favourite daily/easy run trainer. However, when I am doing speed workouts or race pace stuff, I still found myself grabbing a pair of Nike’s Vaporfly or alphafly more often. The aggressiveness from the Nike’s are unmatched.
I do love my vaporfly 2s, they feel great!
I’ll be trying out the metaspeed shoes fairly soon
Dragonfly, Vaporfly, invincibles, think Nike is the top dog and will be for a while, they cover everything you need in different areas (smart marketing from them)
Awesome - I’m glad they are doing the job for you. One thing about Nike is the fit, apart from the vaporfly, I find them too narrow. But if they get along with you then that’s awesome 👍
@@PeakStride yesterday in class (UK physio student) we were covering isometric, concentric and eccentric movements/contractions and how they relate to different sports and can be put into rehab programs for patients. As a runner, would be super cool to see a video looking at running and how it challenges the lower (and upper body) in different ways via all these different contraction types (eg hamstring eccentric loading rates during a 1500m etc). Happy to share your channel with my classmates, absolutely love your stuff mate!!
@sstevogb thanks bro! Glad you’re enjoying it. That’s a great idea - it can be quite confusing to figure out what’s doing what.
Might have to bust out the electrical stimulation machine!
I like that you put cereals and banans in your suitcase, right priorities.
Bananas + weetbix = PBs
i'm still rocking my nimbus 23 all black amazing shoes indeed
Love it!
Cant relate about the tongue as a nimbus 25 owner. Its probably my favourite tongue out of all my shoes. Sucks to hear that its all thin now :/
25's ive heard are much better than 26's
Superblast is my fav. Asics convert here.
I Will have to find a pair to try out
Second this, I have used my superblast nonstop since getting them.
1080v13s are not real running shoes. Idc who likes them and the great revirws...theyre amazing walking shoes though
Cumulus normally.
Awesome!
