Knowing how to complain is an art form. On my last Celebrity cruise I had a 4am noise issue, not from passengers but crew. I approached the Hotel Manager onboard and stated I did not want anything from her, just for the noise to be dealt with. I said I didn't want a credit, didn't want a free meal. I wasn't looking for compensation. She dealt with the noise issue and at the end of our cruise gave me a $1000 future cruise credit!

This legitimized your complaint. You made it clear you didn't want compensation, which identified you as a reasonable person who just wanted to be able to sleep.

On my Celebrity cruise to Alaska two years ago, there was one piece of steel string 1 inch long inside the food. I did not pay attention and actually ate the food with the string. Luckily I spilled it out when I could not chew it. I talked to the waiter and received a free bottle of wine. Later on I was so scared. If I ate down this steel string, did i end up at the hospital for an operation?!!!

A few years back my hubs and I were on a cruise to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We eloped and never had wedding pictures so we paid the steep fee to get photos taken and they were beautiful. We still love them and think they were worth the cost to us. We probably won’t ever do it again but this is an example of why some folks my want to do the professional photos. Having said that, our photographer was exceptional and took pictures of us that were outstanding and captured how we really felt about each other. We had beautiful sunset shots and photos in beautiful areas around the ship, no staged background photos.

I agree.. we took a cruise with my partner's family and was the first time they were all together in years.. I felt like it was worthy of a photo session. Yes it was expensive, (but would have been about the same price on land) and the photos were amazing.
Also, with status, Royal gives a 8x10 free so why not take some pics and if one is good.. get it for free? But otherwise, no, I shew off photographers on a ship. It's usually at an importune time.

    • @spooniesarah

#8 I think I can shed some light on this one. I earn a good living. I have plenty of disposable income, but not a lot of time. When I have some free time the last thing I'd want to do is go shopping. I'm usually responsible in my spending. But when I go on vacation I like to give myself permission to cut loose a bit. I find it convenient during a cruise to pop in to one of those shops to get something for myself or my wife. Do I know that I could get it cheaper somewhere else? Sure. I'm basically paying for the time and proximity convenience of it. Plus the loosening of fiscal responsibility that comes with being on vacation.

On a family cruise we had all agreed to meet in a particular spot on the ship and disembark together after the morning rush. We were trying to locate one of my brothers and his wife when my sister-in-law called me to tell us they were on the dock already. It served no purpose for them to get off early because they still had to wait for the transfer to our hotel which wasn't going to leave until all of us were there. But my SIL seems to think "getting there first" is a competition except none of the rest of us are playing.

Good video, thanks gents. The one point that I take a small issue with is the one about queuing. Not every culture in the world values queuing the way English culture does. I grew up in England and had the value of queuing drilled into my skull from an early age. I have lived in America for 20 years and still think that way and yes, while most people in this country do queue as well, not everyone does because they’re from other cultures that just don’t do it. I remember as a kid going to France a lot and in France they just don’t queue the way we do in England. It’s not that they’re “being rude“, it’s just not in their culture. They queue jumó in front of each other and no one seems to mind. So I could see why people on an MSC cruise wouldn’t queue very well.

Many cruise lines allow you to take on board limited amounts of soda, bottled water, and wine. You must carry it on board yourself. Can't put it in checked luggage. No beer or hard alcohol.
If you have a drink package and you know you will want a night cap in your cabin then get one from a bar and take it with you. Can Room Service bring alcohol to your cabin?

Being rude to the crew members is so low class, I’ve seen it especially in the formal dining room where some guest treat their servers like slaves and insult these grow adults. My wife and I have gone out of our way to move ourselves away from these people, but keep our servers as they are so awesome that we bond with them. Being insulting to the crew is a great way to show everyone on board what a jerk you really are!

My fiance and I went on our first cruise at the end of 2019, so we were suckered in with the photography. Admittedly, it was great photography, a nice package and, heck, it was out first cruise ever, not just together. We know now of course that we will not be making use of the photography suites, but we'll likely pose for a few photos here and there when we're doing the themed nights on our next cruise, probably happening in 2022/23, fingers crossed!
As for early disembarkation, we're usually very slow and liked to take our time at ports, so on port days, we made sure to get up extra early to be one of the first few tenders off the ship. That way we've got the morning through to noon sun, then back to the ship just as it gets really hot, back to air conditioning and a nice lunch/afternoon snack.
Everything else was a great reminder and just common sense. Especially the washing your hands thing. It just confounds me how washing your hands seems like such a hard thing to do. What's wrong? Don't wanna dry your hands out from washing them so often? Moisturise when you get back to your cabin! Not hard, gents!

I traveled alone so I had to fight (not literally) to get a table at the buffet, near the pool, and a lounge chair by the pool. Dont mind people cutting lines. Europeans dont tend to queue anywhere, it is not part of their culture and is really only an English speaking thing. Queueing for buses in Spain was initially a shock to me as everyone just moved enmasse to the bus. Funny thing was, we all got on just as quick as if we had queued. I get more bugged at people at elevators who will not make way for those in wheelchairs

Many of these things are not exclusive to cruising. Always wash your hands after using the restroom. Always be kind to staff, and other people, period. Don’t. Push and shove to get into an elevator and let those get out before you get in. It is safer for everyone this way too. There is no reason to rush off the ship, unless you need to catch a flight or are I’ll. Personally, I hate buffet queues, and will either wait unless most people already loaded up, or go to a restaurant where a server serves you. It reminds me too much of a cattle call. Even kids learn not to cut in a line. Use your benefits and freebies. None of these are truly free, so get your money’s worth. I and probably missing stuff, but you get the idea. Use your manners on a ship the same way you behave off of one, or better them.

It is completely wrong for people to stand in front of the elevators, and we don't do it, but I know why they do. Because when you stand back people will run around you. Such rudeness. On MSC we had to wait through 18 cycles of the elevator, and we were the first in line. People didn't want to ride with my handicap wife's scooter. Literally sliding across and jumping to get in front of us. We have experienced the buffet line cutting, and you are right, MSC was by far the worst. Since I have to get food for 2 it makes it very difficult.

He took me to see them and they were nice, but totally not worth the price. He said, "They're worth double what I paid!" I asked him who told him that, the man who sold them to him? Good grief. LOL. To be fair, there are reasons that people cut in line at buffets. For example, I have severe food allergies and if I get stuck in front of something that I am allergic to because someone in front of me cannot make up their frggin mind, I am going to go around. I am not being rude, but I don't want to have my vacation ruined because I had to use my epi pen and 400mg of Benadryl and am spending the next 12 hours in the ships infirmary. So those of you who are indecisive on what you want, be courteous and don't get in line until you know what you want to have.

I have been on 40 cruises and only 3 times have had bad experiences with crew members. I usually write up a list of praises on my questionaire and if you are my server or housekeeper you most likely will get a good comment on the survey, However while I don't think you should chew out bad workers in public it is important to write their issues down in the comments so that they know they have wronged guests, and so that the company can replace them with a worker who meets the standard, Sometimes the 1 bad employee costs the rest of that crew a lot of tip money and it is better for everyone if that person is replaced.

Queuing in front of a service is a chance to demonstrate politeness. A bus, a line to the teller etc. However buffets, in most parts of the world, present opportunities for people for example, to skip the pork roast and choose the chinese. Queuing "rights" generally cease at the buffet entry, with people dispersing to their favoured flavours. English people just don't get this.

I have to admit I have and do cut lines at times. BUT! In my defense I only do it when I have already gotten my breakfast in hand and all I need is butter, syrup or even grab some bacon because I ate it while standing in line lol.
Now as for the smuggling Alcohol. On my particular cruises. We do it because it is a completely chartered/themed cruise. And the cruise line raises the cost of all the packages sometimes significantly. Even the nonalcoholic packages. So in these cases it's definitely cheaper to smuggle 5-6 days worth of alcohol. Because it is in our experience on our particular themed cruise (once again) it's definitely cheaper 😂🤣😅😛. True Celebrity Eqinox story, they do not sell White Hennessy here in the states (Los Angeles). In 2018 on the Eqinox a guy bought every bottle of White Hennessy the ship had. Somewhere around 25 bottle. So after a day and a half at sea as soon as we docked. The ship restocked with a few hundred bottle and still sold out by the last day 😆🤣. They learn that our particular themed cruise people drink like a fishes. Thus the following ry 2019 Celebrate raise the alcohol prices for our particular cruise event 😀😎😉.
