  • Shooting the H&N Excite Econ ll flat head wadcutter pellets through a Weihrauch HW100 sub-12 gun. A 10-shot group at 25 yards is followed by a 20-shot group at 25 Yards and finally a 20-shot group at 40 Yards. 10 pellets are selected at random and weighed to show the consistency and determine the average weight which is 7.53 gr.

    Regretted purchasing these at first, but thanks to you I restored my faith in these budget-friendly german pellets. First outdoor shooting from about 20-25 metres resulted in 2-3 cm group. I used my new Crosman Copperhead, which was factory downgraded down to 7.5 Joules because of strict Russian gun law (recently they made it even worse for us air gun lovers by setting a 2 years jail probation time with correctional labor and modified gun being confiscated for any tiny upgrade which will make our guns stronger than 7,5 Joules), I'm still able to shoot 5 litre bottle from about 35-40 m with a very few misses due to my inexperience with mid-range shooting. Once again, thank you very much for showing me how great these pellets are, now all I need is a lot of practice which is gonna be a lot of fun!

      Hi Sergey,
      I did not know that the gun laws were so draconian in Russia. I had thought that the UK gun laws were strict because we are restricted to 16J for rifles and 8J for pistols but now I think we are perhaps lucky. Of course I am jealous of the liberal air gun laws in the USA.
      With the 7.5J limit it is very important to get the best performance out of your pellets. If you spend some time on pellet preparation it will minimise your group sizes. Carefully inspecting the pellets to spot any damage, weighing, sorting and sizing, then lubricating will be time well spent.
      I I would also suggest looking for super light pellets including the newer lead free pellets.
      Enjoy your shooting. All the best.

    Nice video, good shooting. H&N make great pellets, I'm using the slightly heavier Sport flat heads, excellent value for money too.

      Hi John, Thanks for the tip about the H&N Sport Flat Heads - I will try to buy some and give them a test. Enjoy your shooting.

    These pellets are definitely a bargain for the casual non hunting airgun shooter. They are good both for plinking and target work so I always buy them in bulk in a buy 10 cans get one free deal.
    Much appreciate this thorough test! Well done!👍

      Hi John, Thanks for your kind comments. The only thing I would add is that these pellets are very effective at short range for rat shooting.
      I live in a very rural area so only get to a gun shop very occasionally. I can recommend JSRamsbottom for mail order and I get most of my pellets from them.
      All the best, Martin

      Thank you very much for the recommendation@@MartinHealy I am not surprised that these pellets are effective for short range rat shooting as the flat head will certainly ensure an optimal energy dump as opposed to, say, pointed heads.
      Unfortunately JSRamsbottom does not deliver to here Germany so I guess I will have to stick to my Versandhaus Schneider. 🙃 In any case I cannot complain about their standing offer of € 39,50 (currently £ 33,68) plus €5 (currently £ 4,26) shipping for 10 tins + 1 free of the Econ II. Whenever I reorder I do make sure to include other items to better exploit the shipping fee though, i.e. felt pellets for cleaning the barrel.
      Nevertheless I intend to order a 10+1free package of H&N "Sport" soon, which cost a bit more than the Econ IIs but still are within an acceptable price segment for me as a casual target worker/plinker on a max 15 meter range in my attic. They are for my Weihrauch HW57, for which the manufacturer recommends the heavier types of pellets. The Sport pellets weigh 0,53g/8,18gr and I hope to improve my groups with them on said HW57. Meanwhile the Econ II pellets make dream groups with my rested and scoped HW40 pistol.
      Concerning pests I should mention though that (luckily) I have no rats, not to mention that this type of "varminting" is not allowed here in Germany. Besides, I am not sure if a maximum of 5,5 ft./lb energy is really adequate for this particular task. In the end I am quite happy that I don't need to bother.😄😌
      Cheers and always dead on target from 🇩🇪

      @@ytucharliesierra Hi John, I do use the cleaning felts in my CO2 pistols but where possible I always prefer pull through patches. In my 0.177 barrels I use Bisley 0.22 patches which are a tight fit in the barrel and effectively remove lead build up. If you find that your groups are gradually expanding then the culprit is usually a dirty barrel.
      I envy you having an attic range.
      Enjoy your shooting. All the best.

    Very informative video cheers , I've just ordered a couple of tins of these for use with my hw45 pistol, Having just watched this I will be trying them out on rats up to 20 yards with a air arms s400 , I've been using domed pellets which hit the mark every time but result in pass throughs , I'm fairly certain these will be devastating at short range , pending accuracy in my barrel of course
    Cheers

      Hi, I hope that these pellets are a good fit in your barrels. My thoughts were that these Econ ii would be an ideal ratting pellet - flat head to dump all the energy in the target, decent accuracy and consistency and very reasonably priced. What's not to like.
      All the best.

      Hi, I am well thank you. Still hoping that the world can get back on track soon...
      The gun I was shooting is a Weihrauch HW100 PCP air rifle. A great gun that has been in production for a long time but remains a great choice. These guns have a traditional land and groove rifling.
      The reason I published this video was just to share the surprising results I got shooting a bargain pellet at distances way beyond what it was designed for. The message is don't be afraid to experiment and most of all - just have fun shooting.
      All the best.

      They work a treat in my s400, quarter inch groups at 25 yards ,, They poleaxed the rats I shot with them 👍 no runners. Just need to try them in my hw95 and air arms prosport now 😊

    Would these be ok for a Hw99s for plinking?

    • @Incognito1-1
      @Incognito1-1  9 месяцев назад

      Hi Chris, Yes, I think that it would be worth trying these H&N Excite Econ II in your HW99S. Given that they performed well even out to 40yds and the very low price they certainly deserve a look. I shot them straight from the tin without any sorting so they impressed me.
      I buy in bulk from JS Ramsbottom and get keen pricing, reasonable postage and the pellets are very well packed and arrive in perfect condition.

    If the gun is a sub12 why is your crono showing over 12 ftibs.

      @Incognito1-1  Год назад +2

      Hi Gary, I made this video to share some good news about an interesting value for money pellet. I hadn't set out to make the video and it was something that I added on to a day testing at the range. You will see on the chrono screen that I had estimated the pellet weight at 7.9gr but I did not have scales with me. You will see later in this video that I very carefully weigh a batch of pellets and found the actual average weight to be fractionally over 7.5gr. If I had entered the correct pellet weight then the chrono would have indicated that the gun was running just inside the 12ftlb limit. The main thing to take away from the chrono work is the consistency of muzzle velocity and the accuracy down range of a bargain pellet. This pellet dumps all its energy on impact and is a devastating pellet for close in vermin control.
      All the best.

    FAC?

    • @Incognito1-1
      @Incognito1-1  2 года назад

      Hi, I doubt that these Econ II will perform well in an FAC gun. These pellets only weigh 7.5gr so they would run very hot through an FAC and could easily go super sonic giving a loud crack (even with a silencer). Once a skirted pellet approaches 1000fps they usually destabilise. So I would predict that they will group like a shotgun! However, I have missed my guess plenty of times before so the best thing to do is pick up a tin for about £3.50 from JS Ramsbottom and give them a try.
      I am doing a bit of metal detecting myself here in Devon when I get a bit of spare time.
      All the best.
