- This is a table top review of the light Hollow Point 0.177 Premium Standard Slug weighing just 13gn from UK manufacturer Pro Hunter Swaging. I will weigh and measure these slugs to assess their quality and explore the possible performance that they may offer in a sub-12ftlb gun.

They are spot on slugs.
Love the little bag they come in.
I get these slugs at 0.07 bc .
So much higher than the web site states .
This is shot at fac speeds though .
Where they often shoot groups of around 1 inch at 70 yds and 1/2 inch at 50
Hi Stuart, Thank you for sharing all this info. The group sizes look excellent. Did you calculate the BC from the drop or did you use 2 chrono measurements? Can you please describe your method.
All the best.
@@MartinHealy
Hi I estimated the bc via the drop at range method. But I do have double chronos and can calculate bc that way also .I just haven't done yet .
@@rufusduck71 Hi Stuart, Thanks for sharing this info. If you do get a chance to test the muzzle and, at a measured distance, the down range speed/energy then that would be very interesting. Just remember to build a shield around the down range chrono to prevent a costly accident if a rogue slug drops low.
All the best.
I'm using a bsa barrel and shooting them around 800 fps .
What the bc is at sub 12 levels i don't know .
Latest now in 9.5 and 10.5 grains. Shooting like a boss.
Hi, Thanks for the tip. I will get some to test asap. I just visited the Prohunter Swaging website but it is currently being updated so will try again soon.
All the best.
I've just purchase some Pellets and lube... I will be testing then in the theoben rapid 7..sub 12.😁
Hi, After finally getting my Covid jabs I have been back to the range. I tested the Pro Hunter Slugs but not in depth because they were only producing just over 10ftlbs in my HW100. However, I think that I should have persevered and tried Napier Power Pellet Lube as well plus shot a target at 50yds to see how tight the group stayed. I will do the test again.

How did your testing of these slugs go?
All the best.
I’m very interested in seeing some accuracy tests with these in the HW100! Great video thanks
Hi Dan, I too am keen to shoot these slugs. I will produce a video giving my impressions of the accuracy through a HW100 that is setup as a target rifle. The lockdown has frustrated me and prevented a bench target session at the range. I was thinking of just shooting in the field using a laser range finder. But I have been concentrating on a major restoration of a small woodland clearing the ground and planting several hundred trees. That work is now ending so if the weather co-operates I will get out into the field. I have already realised that I can't find my Combro chrono so until I can get to the range I won't be able to produce chrono data. My main reservations are that in a sub-12ftlb gun Chairgun predicts (see 1:41 in the video) only 630ft/s which may not be fast enough to stabilise the round. The fit in the barrel and the twist rate are also factors that will affect accuracy. Anyway I am looking forward to testing these slugs and I congratulate Pro Hunter for being at the forefront and producing a 13gn slug for us to experiment with.
All the best.
@@Incognito1-1 I look forward to seeing the video! If your stuck for your combro I would be happy to lend you mine via the post. I have 2 HW’s a .177 and .22 I see they now do a 17.8 grain in .22 as well. They show excellent groups through a sub 12ftlb HW on their site so I’m hopeful. From what I know of the twist rate I “think” the .177 HW comes with a slightly faster twist than most air rifles all though I can’t for the life of me remember what it is.... I “think” most come in 1in18” twists and the HW i “think” is 1in16”..........
@@Incognito1-1 I have found a supplier in the US that makes 10 and 11 grain slugs which are pure lead and have a deep hollow base similar to a Diabolo pellet. I have emailed them to ask if they post to the UK....
@@danpearce5192 Hi Dan, I did see an ultra-light slug from a US manufacturer - might be NSA. The one I remember had a very deep hollow base that left just a thin wall. The slugs would obviously be very fragile and the manufacturer said that they wouldn't ship for that reason. A real pity because if they used foam sheet with cut out holes to pack them in they could maybe be OK. I have some match flat head pellets that are packed in this way.
I'd be interest to hear how you get on with your enquiry.
All the best.
@@danpearce5192 Hi Dan, You're brave - given that I have lost my own Combro! I will have to turn the place over and have a good look. I have already looked in all the logical places so expect that it must have been put away in an odd place. This is a downside of having such a tiny chrono.
All the best.
Anyone want a perfect slug look up mako slugs made for sub12 guns n kill stuff dead and group like a Diablo they specially made for sub12 look them up on RUclips
Hi Kirky, Thanks for sharing your tip about Mako slugs. I will definitely give them a try. The JSB Knockout 0.177 slugs at 10.03gr just came back into stock and I have them on the way to me. If the Knockouts suit my HW100 and perform well then they will be a real bargain at £13.99 for 500.
All the best.
