My 2013 Elantra was leaking on the drivers side, through the sun visor. The hole is small but I was able to scrap debris away and poke some speaker wire through the hole to clear the clog. Poured some water in it and it drained quickly. Best video I've seen yet for resolving this issue. Thank you!
This might explain the problem I have. It is 2017 Lexus RX350 and changes the whole sunroof and done more work on it this year. Keeping my finger crossed. Thank you so much for sharing
Very very helpful tips, I really appreciate it I’m struggling with my car sunroof leakage, I had no idea that there are drains for the water 💧 I’m gonna check them. Thank you Eddie 👍
Hi Mr. Berrani, yes there are usually 4 drains, one in each corner and the drain tubes run behind the plastic interior panels and usually exit near each tire. Let me know if you need any questions answered :)
Hi again Eddie, yes I already checked them and I did the needful in a Garage services, actually I live in Dubai & it rarely rains 🌧 but whenever I wash my car OMG 💦 but all is good now, your video saved my life 😂 thanks a lot Man 👍
Hi Eddie, I know this and old video, but I hope you still get the notifications. I'm having this issue and I was able to clean the front drains, but I can't see or access the rear and I have water stains in the headliner where I presume the rear drains are. How can I access and clean the rear ones?. Thank you
Try not to buy a vehicle with a sunroof. I have had nothing but issues after 4-5 years with 3 different vehicles over the years. And I never really used my sun roofs here in the hot south. Just another headache and water damage/leaks are no fun.
Very true. Fashionable, I suppose, to some. They may be OK for relatively dry climates but where I am it rains quite a bit and very heavy at times. That is where the problem comes in...heavy rain. The trough inside cannot handle the water flow at that rate. 4 windows and an AC is on the money!!! LOL
Hi BIS, the tube is connected to a rubber boot when it exits the vehicle, the tube may have become disconnected at the connection or the leak may be something else like a windshield seal or open body seam. Has the car ever been in an accident?
@@EddieCarrara1 I am having the same issue I think it's disconnected because when it was tested today most of the water was in my fuse box and relays actually caused me to lose turn signals, wipers, and door locking capabilities. I have gotten it to dry out and the power is back for all the above, but how do you reconnect the tubing or is that a job for a mechanic.
Hi Indigo Blue, you can try using low pressure compressed air or a coat hanger straightened, the clog is usually near the top of the drain near the sunroof.
Locate the drain holes and verify they are clogged. You could also try pouring water in the tray to watch it drain. Let me know if you have more questions MB
Under a storm, I have few drops of rain water that seeped into head liner between the driver side front and rear drain holes. I'm about to look for a video on how to clear it. Is that something I should do without causing more damage?
Thanks a lot brother it worded . i was worried that i had to go spend some $ again, question that water that is / was up there is normal & where do it comes from ?
Ok so I have a question! I recently bought a Ford Everest 2020 , and much to my horror it’s taking on water bigger than the titanic 😩 Left hand front interior (it’s entering via the leverage door handle ) also at the windscreen side of the Sunroof panel. I’m in Australia so keep in mind the driver side is the right of the car! Where do I start?
Hi Jodie, I recommend you start at the sunroof and work your way down. You know for sure your sunroof has a problem, you'll need to figure out what's causing that leak and then water test it after the repair. you may only have one leak because water doesn't travel in a straight line. Let me know if you need more guidance and keep me posted on what you find.
Just curious. Are you saying that the gasket around the glass is not designed to keep the water out and even a brand new car would leak with a clogged drain hole? I hope this will solve my leaking issue. You're describing my exact problem.
incorrect... water will always find a way in. it really depends how much water is coming in and getting past the seals. mine is leaking like a faucet was never closed completely.
Hi Wanda, you could use a small wire or coat hanger or lightly use compressed air to clear the tubes. Let me know if I can answer any other questions 😊
I have a 2015 genesis coupe and i.have a leak behind the drivers side seat on the corner of the floor boardmore towards the passenger side. Atleast i think i do, waiting for next rain day. It was kinda damp
Have a gallon of water in the rear seats. I checked the sun roof drains and I saw the water exit through the tires like you said. What else do you think I should check. ?

Hi Samuel, the drains are located behind the front kick panel on each side of the vehicle, you may have to look inside the "A" pillar sheet metal and the rear ones are located inside the rear quarter panels close to the hatch area. Let me know if you have more questions.
Hi! I’m about to buy a used 2021 pilot EXL but the hatchback seems to be collecting water and it floods down and out when open. I’m wondering if this is a sunroof issue or if it is just designed that way like the dealer is trying to tell me?
My 2004 Explorer is leaking into the headliner and on the door and floor of the passenger side. Floor is soaked. So, I am guessing that the sunroof drains could be plugged. Thoughts?
Hi Rhonda, I would check the drains first like show in the video, Here is another video of mine with the same issue on a Subaru ruclips.net/video/-VaDBnxRbds/видео.html and if you go to my channel home page and see my playlists, I have on dedicated to water leaks that may be very helpful. Hi Eddie, Very useful, and I approached step by step. I have a honda odyssey 2012 . There is leak inside the roof on both sides and it's from sunroof drain tubes l think.the drain holes are not clogged, as l used a chopstick to make them clean but still there's water Coming inside. It drips in back of front tires ( where it should dripp) as well as inside the roof panel. Any suggestions?
How do i find the rear drain holes and how to get to them. I have a 2003 acura tl thats leaking from the rear of the sunroof. And how do i unclogg them?
The drain tubes should be located in the trunk behind the side panels. You'll need disconnect them behind the panels and then blow light compressed air up the tube.
Im having water build on on the driver side of my car. It was raining for 3 days! So ut got soaked. Where do you recommend taking it to see if it was disconnected. It happen last year but i cleared it with a straw. Now i guesss there is more blovkage?😊
I recommend you clear it yourself, if you did it last year you can do it again lol and it won't cost you a dime. Just clear the same spots as you did last year 👍 Mechanics don't like to chase water leaks because they think there is no money in it, it's a viscous cycle 😂 but there is plenty of money in it when you do it right and you have a satisfied customer.
Hello. I have a Honda ridgeline water leak seems wate driver side between the two doors right by the driver's sit belt I'm not sure if is leaking from the sunroof or from the roof rack what's your thoughts I hope you can give me some ideas thank you
Hi AM, try opening the sunroof and pouring water in the tray, notice if it leaks into the car, if not, try pouring water on the roof where the roof rack attaches. Let me know if this helps.
Hi Iao, That's awesome!! If you want to know how to dry it as quick as possible, watch this video ruclips.net/video/fwZNqynTeqQ/видео.html if you have any questions I'll be right here 😊
I have a 2005 Camry. For the life of me, I cannot find the drain holes. the tray in front of the sunroof looks solid all the way around. I've spent an hour with a flashlight looking for the holes with no luck, but when I do pour water in there, it just sits there and nothing is coming out under the car..

I think I have a drain disconnected. When you pointed at the bottom corner passenger side under glovebox. I thought - yup thats the problem. Any advice? 2005 Chevy equinox. My head liner gets wet right in passenger corner above the door by windshield and leaks onto the floor under glove box. Any advice would be great! Thanks!
Hi 11Gemineye, I think your windshield is leaking not the sunroof. I recommend you pour water in the sunroof tray and see if it leaks in that spot if you don't see the headliner getting wet run water over the top of the windshield with an open-ended garden hose (not a spray nozzle) and look to see if it gets wet. Let me know what you find, thanks.
@@EddieCarrara1 ok so i checked windshield again. Seems to be just fine. Infact the water disappears and comes out the drain hole behind front tire. But when I put water in tray to go down drain hole is when the headliner gets a lil wet and drips onto carpet from under glovebox. Help! 😆
@@EddieCarrara1 and I did drivers side drain hole no leakage or problem. If unclogging it doesn't do it and I don't want to take apart headliner fear or getting it back on. Would it create a problem to plug the hole w silicone or something? As an easy fix. 🤷♀️😆
@@11Gemineye You can try it and see what happens, you have nothing to lose. I don't recommend filling the tube tho. Or you could try pulling down the headliner from the windshield area and see if the drain tube is disconnected? 👍 Keep me posted
@@EddieCarrara1 hi, sorry for the delay in response. Alot going on...BUT...after checking everything out and deciding to not pull down the headliner and create a nightmare. Thanks for your video, time, and help! Take care!! 🚗
The tube may be leaking over the headliner on the drivers side. You'll have to pull down the headliner on that side and inspect the tube where it connects to the sunroof tray.
Have a 2010 nissan maxima. Passenger floor front and back only gets wet. Tried cleaning front drain holes in sunroof w/trimmer wire and air hose but still clogged. Cleaned bottom of door holes too. Are there back holes on sunroof to clean? Floor in front is wet under glovebox too.
Hi Steve. If you're running your AC, maybe the evaporator drain is clogged and water is leaking from the evaporator box, or maybe the drain tube for the evaporator is disconnected? Are you running the AC? Is the condensation draining under the passenger's side of the car? Let me know, thanks.
Sometimes u have to clean the drain tubes from the exit point. Mines got done that way..and there is a rubber piece at the end, a small pi3ce was cut off to open the drain up

Hi Bryce, you need to clear the drains with light compressed air or at least clear the sunroof tray of any debris and clean the top of the drain tube with a coat hanger, pipe cleaner, tooth pick or whatever will fit in the top of the tube. The front drains are located in each corner, the rear drains are buried in the rear of the tray, start with the front drains.
So depending on where the clog is you can either clear it from the try with a piece of wire or coat hanger, or use light compressed air. Check out this other video I made, it may explain it better.ruclips.net/video/-VaDBnxRbds/видео.htmlsi=g1pynedkJC8OYbcM
Hi Miss Lee, did you pour water into the sunroof tray like in the video and did it drain? If the tray is draining it's possible the top of your windshield is leaking. Has the windshield ever been replaced?

No Sir Randy, I usually use light compressed air, it works the best, Draino would destroy the plastic tubes but good idea if it wasn't so corrosive. A wire coathanger works pretty good too, but not very flexible.
I have a 2003 Volvo S40. When it rains, the driver side floor becomes soaked. Could this be the issue? How could I get in there to see if the drain is disconnected?
My sunroof will close,( in a 2014 SUV) but will fall down a little and you can hear loud air coming thur it, and leaks after a heavy rain. Could this be fuss or some kind of damage has happen to my sunroof? I keep my SUV in top shape, I'm the only owner of my baby. PLEASE can you help me!
Hi Phyllis, Some sunroofs have an adjustment to stop that from happening or it could be the cables are stretching. I recommend you have someone who is familiar with those vehicles to take a look if it can be adjusted first. Those types of repairs can become costly if the sunroof need to be removed or replaced.
Hi Lloyd, I recommend you pull back the front carpet on the driver's side floor and water test the windshield area to see where the water trailing from. Help, I have a 96 Honda Passport. Water is leaking onto the floor on driver side. My car is parked on a declined driveway with the nose of the car down. I pulled back the carpet and I see a rubber plug and a nut and bolt on the underside of the auto in that area that I think may open up the plug to drain out the water, but I’m having a hard time loosening up that bolt. There is a rubber strip that runs horizontally under the hood at the back end right below the windshield that is detached in some areas. I think this is allowing water to get passed this rubber strip and then travel down into the driver side corner under the back corner of the hood and it is flooding the floor under the break pedal. 4:37
How many drains are there in dodge charger &where does the water drain from in back &front?I thinking it on both sides, was wondering cause trying to add some side skirts and didn't want to drill in them ?help anyone !!
Hi Mohammed, what's going on with the 2020 Civic? Can you give me some details? The drains could be clogged but give me some details about where you see the water and when you see it, thanks.
Hi Naron, first determine if they are clogged or if you have a different problem. You can use light compressed air down the front drains and up the rear ones if you can locate the drain tubes in the rear of the car.
@@EddieCarrara1 i compressed some air in the tubes they seem to be clear.. But it seems as if the water takes very slow time to go down the drains so if the water overflows it would drip from the visor around the rear view mirror part. I also notice when water overflows in the roof visor thats wen the sunroof gets full cause the water cant drain down so i took the visor off
Hello, I have a sunroof leak on my 2009 C300. I have tried to blow it out with an air compressor and it seemed okay, but it just rained again and I have damp carpets on the driver side front and back.
Hi Chickenmaster, you'll need to find the point of entry first, it may not be the sunroof. Check out this video, it may help you find the leak. ruclips.net/video/veFEvlXnGlE/видео.html
There is a manual way of opening the sunroof, it's usually a plug in the headliner in the back seat, remove the plug and there should be a bolt or Alan head screw up there that you can turn and open it manually. If you can't open it Im not sure how to check them without pulling down the headliner.
Hi Ron, if it's at the "A" pillar (front) that is where the drains are usually located, if at the "B" pillar (Located at the drivers seat back) it could be the tray spilling over. Did you pour water in the tray yet to see if it's draining?
Hi Cinthia, you can use a coat hanger from the top or if you have access to compressed air, you can lightly push air down the tubes in each corner, a vacuum may work as well with a small attachment to the hose.

I have a 2006 Honda Pilot EX with a sunroof. Just recently I found water under the floor mats on both sides of the front of the car. We had some recent hard rains. I've had the car since it was a year old and never had this problem before. I've been to several places and no one is able to tell be where it's coming from. Help!!!!
The rear drains are usually behind the rear side panels and usually run behind the rear wheel and inside the rear quarter, it's a pain to get to but might be well worth the effort.
Hi I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey touring it does have a sunroof and the Driver side seat belt keeps getting wet any ideas what’s causing that? Thank you for your time.Mel.
Hi Mel, I recommend you take a small bottle of water, park the van on level ground, open the sunroof and slowly pour the water into the sunroof tray. It should drain quickly out any of the corner drains. If it's draining good you may have a problem inside the roof Channel. There are 2 black plastic strips that run from the back of the van to the windshield on the roof. You'll need to remove the strip on the drivers side and inspect the channel for any rust in the roof at the hold down pins or cracks in the seam sealer. Is the headliner wet in that area?
Hey I watched your video and I have located my drains but I have had to pop the hood and remove paneling and unclog. I am now getting some water behind both rear wells but I have gotten water on my roof line in the back. - I know you said put your car at an angle but how would I unclog the rear drains? I have a 2018 Renault Koleos
Hi Hayley, the rear drains are tough to get to but usually drain behind the rear tires, so you'll have to pull the side panels back in the hatch area to locate them. You'll need to pull them out of the body grommets, the grommet is usually a rubber tube that fastens to the car body, it holds the tube in place and then connects to the bottom of the drain tube. Let me know if this helps.

Hi Mark, good question. Either your drain tube is cracked or somehow got disconnected. I recommend first checking the drip tray for any cracks or damage and if everything looks ok, pull down the headliner a little and inspect the tube and connection. Let me know what you find, thanks.
Hi BF, if you can see the clog in the tray you'll need to remove the debris clogging the drain or use a straightened coat hanger to clear the drain holes. If you can't see it you'll need to use light compressed air, you could actually try canned air like for cleaning your computer keyboard. Let me know if this helps.
Hi Mohamad, you'll need to lower the headliner to find out what is causing the leak and then you can decide on how to approach the repair. Make sure you clean the drains first with either a coat hanger or compressed air and see if it still leaks.
Hi Ardent Bull, sorry I didn't see your comment. You can use light compressed air, a long thin ridged wire like a coat hanger, or find the drain tubes exit in the body and manually clean them, the debris is usually at the bottom. I recommend you test them first to see which one(s) are clogged if any. 👍
Hi I have a 2005 Chrysler 300c. I noticed the passenger rear floor and under the passenger rear seat were soaked, then found the passenger front floorboard was wet, but not as soaked. @@nathanlevigraves If you leave the seat out to dry, try filling the sunroof tray with water while the front of the vehicle is pointed uphill and see if the water is backing up into the vehicle's rear seat or if it's draining behind the rear wheel. Keep me posted on what you find, thanks.
Hi Eddie, I have a E90 BMW 323i 2007 Just recently when I washed my car water started dripping on the driver side visor. I've tried the curtain wire and compressed air but its still leaks, how do I fix this issue? I dont know much about the car. Please help thank you
Hi Kwestt, Try water testing the vehicle just at the top of the windshield, don't let water reach the sunroof and notice if you're getting the drip on your visor. This will eliminate the sunroof possibility. Let the water run out of the hose without the sprayer, you don't want to force the leak. If you don't see any leaks after 10 minutes, try taping off the top of the windshield to the body and then water test the sunroof, if it leaks, try pouring water into the sunroof try like in the video and see if that leaks. Let me know what you find. It sounds like the top of the windshield is leaking but this procedure will help pin point the leak. Let me know what you find, thanks.

Ogo Godson you’ll need to locate the drains in the front of the sunroof and clear them with a small wire like a straightened coat hanger or if possible, light compressed air and see if that helps. Let me know how you make out, thanks.
I got a Scion tC and every time it rains the floor in the back fills with water! I Lil on the driver side but a puddle on the back passenger side? Is that the sun roof?
Hi Greg, Water will flow in both directions while driving but if you have a little water on the front driver's side floor before driving and a lot in the rear driver's side floor, most likely the water is coming from the front and trailing to the back seat. Check out my other video on water leaks ruclips.net/video/veFEvlXnGlE/видео.html and let me know if this helps, Thanks.
Hi One -Express, you can access them from the trunk, remove or pull back the side panels over the wheel wells/tires and look for a clear plastic tube attached to a rubber grommet exiting the vehicle, remove the tube from the grommet and blow them out with light compressed air. Let me know how you make out 😊

I'm having leakage in my rear passenger floor in my 01 accord it has a sunroof but thats the only area where it is leaking, would it be the sunroof drains aswell?
I recommend you check your trunk and spare tire well for water first, I also recommend you pull up the carpet on the passenger's side floor because if you're using your AC and the evaporator is leaking into the car instead of draining out under it, a clogged AC evaporator drain could be your problem. Let me know what you find so I can help you figure this out, thanks.
My sunroof is leaking via the passenger safety handle halfway down the front windscreen. I can see it dribbling. Does that mean the drains are split or just blocked. No one wants to help me fix it and my car is very wet
Hi Miriam, Your windshield seal may be leaking or the sunroof drain could be split or clogged lol. You'll need to lower the headliner in the corner and peek up there with a flashlight to se where the water is coming from, or try using light compressed air in the drain located in the sunroof tray. A lot of times the drain is clogged at the top, so just inspecting the drain and cleaning it at the top may fix your issue Let me know if this helps or if I can answer any other questions Miriam, thanks.
Eddie Carrara Hi. It turned out the drains had been dislodged by the people who installed my rear camera and stereo. We managed to fix it but then damaged the seal in the process. I had tried to clean the drains before and confused why it didn’t work. It was good to find out the issue and your tutorial
Thanks for the video! Anyone know where the rear sunroof drain exits are for a 2016 Ford Expedition/Navigator? (2007-2017 models) If they're anything like the front sunroof drains, which drain into the rocker panel (BAD design, Ford!), they're impossible to get to ... I've dug into the wheel well area and removed a lot of the interior trim to no avail. Also, I saw another video that shows a fix for the Ford Expedition roof leak, is actually the roof rack screws allowing water in to the headliner. I'm gonna fix that, too. But I'd like to be able to clear the rear sunroof drain tubes too ... when I park facing slightly up hill, there's no way the front sunroof drains are going to capture the water ... so I just park facing downhill for now (update) just found a thread that comes really close to addressing my issue/concern above: www.f150forum.com/f118/10-minute-sunroof-leak-fix-409873/index3/
Hi George, I'mm not sure exactly where your drains are located but most rear drains are located in the rear quarter panels. If you peel back one side and look behind the sheetmetal you should be able to see the location. The sunroof tray is double the length of the glass which should give you an idea where the drains start. Let me know if this helps.
Thanks a lot brother it worded . i was worried that i had to go spend some $ again, question that water that is / was up there is normal & where do it comes from ?
Hi Curby, The sunroof seal doesn't completely seal water out so the manufacturer installed this tray with drains in each corner. If the drains get clogged, the tray fills up with water and spills over onto the headliner or your lap lol. Great question 👍
My 2013 Elantra was leaking on the drivers side, through the sun visor. The hole is small but I was able to scrap debris away and poke some speaker wire through the hole to clear the clog. Poured some water in it and it drained quickly. Best video I've seen yet for resolving this issue. Thank you!
Awesome Justin! Thanks for sharing. It's a simple test, and a simple repair (sometimes) lol.
Thank you for this video. It helped me know what is necessary as a responsible sunroof owner. I love the sound effects for the water. 😂
THANK YOU! You just saved me a $300 visit for an "inspection" at my Honda service centre. I was sure it must be a simple fix....
You're welcome Tanime, let me know if you have any questions 😊
This might explain the problem I have. It is 2017 Lexus RX350 and changes the whole sunroof and done more work on it this year. Keeping my finger crossed. Thank you so much for sharing
I hope you fixed it Hassan, keep me posted if you need any advice 😊

I’m struggling with my car sunroof leakage, I had no idea that there are drains for the water 💧 I’m gonna check them.

Thank you
hahaah on the waves in the background im still in PTSD after finding my car floor soaked and that sound effect was perfect :))))))
Hi Kathleen, hehe 😂. I have other videos on water leaks and how to dry them completely. Let me know if I can help.
Try not to buy a vehicle with a sunroof. I have had nothing but issues after 4-5 years with 3 different vehicles over the years. And I never really used my sun roofs here in the hot south. Just another headache and water damage/leaks are no fun.
Some people won't buy a car without a sunroof Tibzig, I particularly don't like sunroofs, too hot in the summer, give me 4 windows and AC :)
Very true. Fashionable, I suppose, to some. They may be OK for relatively dry climates but where I am it rains quite a bit and very heavy at times. That is where the problem comes in...heavy rain. The trough inside cannot handle the water flow at that rate. 4 windows and an AC is on the money!!! LOL
Can you do a video on how too access the rear drain please
If it's a solid tube, how does it leak into the fuse box on the driver side in my odyssey?
Hi BIS, the tube is connected to a rubber boot when it exits the vehicle, the tube may have become disconnected at the connection or the leak may be something else like a windshield seal or open body seam. Has the car ever been in an accident?
@@EddieCarrara1 I am having the same issue I think it's disconnected because when it was tested today most of the water was in my fuse box and relays actually caused me to lose turn signals, wipers, and door locking capabilities. I have gotten it to dry out and the power is back for all the above, but how do you reconnect the tubing or is that a job for a mechanic.
I like the water sounds, funny !!! 👍
Hey Jim Bo, automotive videos are not the most entertaining 🤣
Thanks so much for this, I have this problem... How would you clean it, if one of the drains is in fact clogged?
Hi Indigo Blue, you can try using low pressure compressed air or a coat hanger straightened, the clog is usually near the top of the drain near the sunroof.
@@EddieCarrara1 Thank you, my brother helped me out with it and we were able to vacuum it out, using a straw.
Weed trimmer line, is a safer way to clean out your drains.
Any advise on how to actually unclog the drain if it is clogged?
Locate the drain holes and verify they are clogged. You could also try pouring water in the tray to watch it drain. Let me know if you have more questions MB
Under a storm, I have few drops of rain water that seeped into head liner between the driver side front and rear drain holes. I'm about to look for a video on how to clear it. Is that something I should do without causing more damage?
Yes, you can either use compressed air or a thin wire like a coathanger to clear the drains.
Thanks a lot brother it worded . i was worried that i had to go spend some $ again, question that water that is / was up there is normal & where do it comes from ?
Hi Curby Harry, the seal around the glass isn't 100% water tight, that's why the manufacture installs a catch tray with drains below it.
Ok so I have a question! I recently bought a Ford Everest 2020 , and much to my horror it’s taking on water bigger than the titanic 😩
Left hand front interior (it’s entering via the leverage door handle ) also at the windscreen side of the Sunroof panel.
Yes MB, that is correct.
incorrect... water will always find a way in. it really depends how much water is coming in and getting past the seals. mine is leaking like a faucet was never closed completely.
Good video. How can you fix the problem if it’ s not draining properly.
Hi Wanda, you could use a small wire or coat hanger or lightly use compressed air to clear the tubes. Let me know if I can answer any other questions 😊

You'll have to park on a hill and pour water in the sunroof tray. Hope this helps.

Hi thank you for your video. Can you let me know where the sunroof drains are on my 2017 Odyssey? Thanks in advance!
Thoughts?

Hi Eddie,
Very useful, and I approached step by step.
Hi Vahid, it's draining in the right place, can you use any light compressed air down the tube to clear it? Or maybe a vacuum to suck out the debris?

Help! 😆

@@11Gemineye You can try it and see what happens, you have nothing to lose. I don't recommend filling the tube tho. Or you could try pulling down the headliner from the windshield area and see if the drain tube is disconnected? 👍 Keep me posted

The tube may be leaking over the headliner on the drivers side. You'll have to pull down the headliner on that side and inspect the tube where it connects to the sunroof tray.

So how do you fix the slow leak please?

Hi Phyllis,

What if you can't open the sunroof how do you check the drains then?
There is a manual way of opening the sunroof, it's usually a plug in the headliner in the back seat, remove the plug and there should be a bolt or Alan head screw up there that you can turn and open it manually. If you can't open it Im not sure how to check them without pulling down the headliner.
What about if you have water leaking into the car at the top of the pillar
Hi Ron, if it's at the "A" pillar (front) that is where the drains are usually located, if at the "B" pillar (Located at the drivers seat back) it could be the tray spilling over. Did you pour water in the tray yet to see if it's draining?
How do you unstop the drains?
Hi Cinthia, you can use a coat hanger from the top or if you have access to compressed air, you can lightly push air down the tubes in each corner, a vacuum may work as well with a small attachment to the hose.
I used electrical wire to unblock mine
I use the plastic/nylon string from my weed whacker.

How do you unclog it?

Hi Tony, there should be, each corner needs to drain.
Thank you, No the headliner does not get wet it’s just the seatbelt.
Would you recommend the sunroof on the Subaru. Or would avoid all sunroofs?

How do clear the rear drain tubes?
Hi Ardent Bull, sorry I didn't see your comment. You can use light compressed air, a long thin ridged wire like a coat hanger, or find the drain tubes exit in the body and manually clean them, the debris is usually at the bottom. @@EddieCarrara1 there is. More on the passenger side. I just pulled all the seats and snaked/flushed the sunroof drain tubes all around. The passenger was blocked/clogged. We had a heavy rain so I’m wondering if they all backed up/leaked inside.
Do we have to change the rubber gasket of the sunroof..?
SuperVishwesh Nope, unless it’s distorted and causing a problem closing or a wind noise.
My tomorrow project on a 2012 Elantra Ltd.
Hey Jim, let me know how you make out, thanks.
Hi Eddie,
I have a E90 BMW 323i 2007 Just recently when I washed my car water started dripping on the driver side visor.
Hey My name is Felix I have a question so yeah my floor is wet on the passenger side very wet can a machine fix this ?? I’m 16 and my mom want me to fix it but lol I can’t from watch this video so yeah I just wanted to know if this is fixable
Hi Felix,
Check out this other video I made, it may help you a little more. Let me know if I can help after you watch it. ruclips.net/video/veFEvlXnGlE/видео.html
Hey hi, Thanks for the video. The problem I have is, water is leaking from the car cabin light area. From the light and buttons. It only leaks when I move the car. There's no option to post a picture, otherwise I would have. What could it be?
Hi Srinivasa, do you have a sunroof?
@@EddieCarrara1 I have same problem yes, I have a roof what do I do next please
Ogo Godson you’ll need to locate the drains in the front of the sunroof and clear them with a small wire like a straightened coat hanger or if possible, light compressed air and see if that helps. Let me know how you make out, thanks.
@@EddieCarrara1 I have a Peugeot 807 but I cannot find the drain, I have looked very well. Any ideas
@@EddieCarrara1 yes, Hyundai i20 with sunroof . I'll check and I'll let you know. Thanks for the reply.
I got a Scion tC and every time it rains the floor in the back fills with water! I Lil on the driver side but a puddle on the back passenger side? Is that the sun roof?
Hi Greg,
Water will flow in both directions while driving but if you have a little water on the front driver's side floor before driving and a lot in the rear driver's side floor, most likely the water is coming from the front and trailing to the back seat. Check out my other video on water leaks ruclips.net/video/veFEvlXnGlE/видео.html and let me know if this helps, Thanks.
Thx u so much,
I'll check on that
love your video, keep up the great work!
My car have water leaking on my driver side its wet on the floor what can it be
Hi Wanda, is there any other signs of water anywhere like on the headliner or door panels?
Is it possible it’s draining into my trunk
Yes
How do u access the rear drain to blow them out my 91 prelude leaks while parked on a hill
Hi One -Express, you can access them from the trunk, remove or pull back the side panels over the wheel wells/tires and look for a clear plastic tube attached to a rubber grommet exiting the vehicle, remove the tube from the grommet and blow them out with light compressed air. Let me know how you make out 😊
@@EddieCarrara1 thanks brother
@@S.s.s_88 Yes sir
how to solve the problem part not covered
Sorry for the late reply. Look at some of my water leak videos on my channel, they should help you locate the leak.
Mine leaks from the sunroof, the sbottoms corners of my front doors and my back windows. Do you think the back windows is due to sunroof leaking?
Hi Jess, It sounds like your drains in the sunroof tray are clogged and water is spilling over the edge of the tray. Try doing my little test with a small water bottle. Let me know what you find, ,thanks.
@@EddieCarrara1 thank you so much. I will try that
I'm having leakage in my rear passenger floor in my 01 accord it has a sunroof but thats the only area where it is leaking, would it be the sunroof drains aswell?
I recommend you check your trunk and spare tire well for water first, I also recommend you pull up the carpet on the passenger's side floor because if you're using your AC and the evaporator is leaking into the car instead of draining out under it, a clogged AC evaporator drain could be your problem. Let me know what you find so I can help you figure this out, thanks.
Good video keep it up buddy.!
Thank you
You're welcome Bernard.
Thanks.
You're welcome Richard, let me know if you have any questions.
The filter they put at the end of the drain tubes is the dumbest idea ever in car manufacturing history.
Hi John, I think they do it to keep out rodents.
Thanks but I cannot subscribe to this channel because of the soda sound effects. Bottled water does not have carbonation.
🤪😂 it was Seltzer water...
Ok, that’s different. LOL

My sunroof is leaking via the passenger safety handle halfway down the front windscreen. I can see it dribbling. Does that mean the drains are split or just blocked. No one wants to help me fix it and my car is very wet
Hi Miriam,
Your windshield seal may be leaking or the sunroof drain could be split or clogged lol.
@@miablossom73 I would definitely contact that company and explain the damage they have caused, you may get reimbursed 👍 Glad you fixed the problem 😊
Eddie Carrara they were fiercely denying it. But i tried
@@miablossom73 I thought that would happen 🙄 , Sorry Miriam.
Never get a sunroof it's pointless.
I Agree Jabari, it was a used car and it came with it lol.
Thanks for the video!
Anyone know where the rear sunroof drain exits are for a 2016 Ford Expedition/Navigator? (2007-2017 models)
If they're anything like the front sunroof drains, which drain into the rocker panel (BAD design, Ford!), they're impossible to get to ... I've dug into the wheel well area and removed a lot of the interior trim to no avail.
Also, I saw another video that shows a fix for the Ford Expedition roof leak, is actually the roof rack screws allowing water in to the headliner. I'm gonna fix that, too. But I'd like to be able to clear the rear sunroof drain tubes too ... when I park facing slightly up hill, there's no way the front sunroof drains are going to capture the water ... so I just park facing downhill for now
(update) just found a thread that comes really close to addressing my issue/concern above: www.f150forum.com/f118/10-minute-sunroof-leak-fix-409873/index3/
Can the rear drains be accessed with a pipe cleaner?
You can access them from the cargo area in front of the back wheel, then use compressed air to clear them.
How would I unclog them?
