Lovely looking bike Andy! Hydraulic disc brakes are bloomin amazing - powerful and very tactile. Lovely comfy, grippy tyres too and fairly low gears, but perhaps not quite as low as Caribou? Anyway - enjoy being back on camping/grippy flat bar bike 👍
Thanks buddy. Lowest gear is lower & highest gear higher than Caribou. Not sure what effect different size wheels make though. They're 700c, 28 inch & 29er apparently (scratches head!) First ride though and it 'feels' good although bit more minor saddle adjustment needed. Staff at Giant shop in Bradley Stoke & Avon Valley Cyclery in Bath get a Big thumbs up from me for customer service 👍👍👍
700c and 29er are the same size. I discovered this when I wanted to put new tyres on my Decathlon Rockrider 29er. I had some old Vittoria Randonneurs- 700 x38c, I tried them and they fitted fine. Glad you are back on the road.
Hi Andy. Glad to see you’ve got sorted with a new bike. I hope you have miles of adventure and fun. I look forward to the forthcoming videos. Take care. 👍
@@andysadventures3910 ideally they will be a straight swap in and out, but all wheels will have slight differences, it’s an easy tweak to align, hold the brake on (cable tie, bungee, etc, etc), slacken off the 2 mounting bolts (5mm allen key), then tighten back up, caliper should have aligned itself on the rotor, loads of RUclips vids, hope that’s helpful👍🏻
@@mortyoutdoors7109 Thanks Ian. I was hoping it would be fairly straightforward Only just got bike so haven't even taken wheels out yet. They're tubeless which is also new! Hoping a simple transfer of cassette will make wheels interchangeable. Possibly a bit of brake re alignment It's a learning curve but hopefully within my ability. Need to feel confident with local rides before I take new kit out into the sticks! Yes, RUclips videos are ideal educators 👍
Nice bike Andy, you'll soon forget how the old one felt to ride. My do everything bike is a Giant, somewhat older -1995. Still going strong but it's much harder to get wheels and tyres also 8 speed cassettes. In a way it's forced you to update. I expect non availability of parts will force a change on me too. I know you don't do reviews but I hope you tell us your impressions after a few hundred miles.
@@colinwellman9480 I future proofed the Caribou with spare 26 inch non disc wheels. Lots of 13-26, 8 speed cassettes and SRAM chains. Once I'm sure Caribou is not coming back I'll be selling them on at some stage. Andy
@andysadventures3910 considering we both own the same Giant bike I have recently been told the crankset us nit that great. It's a cheap Chinese brand called ProWheel. As it has Deore derailleur back and front I was surprised that Giant didn't complete the fit with Deore. We're you aware of this. I decided to change my crankset to a Deore to match the rest of chainset
@@mbrylewski I did wonder about it. Doesn't seem to match spec of rest of bike. No I didn't realise it was cheap Chinese though. Once rings wear I'll replace it too. Thanks for the info 👍

Nice looking bike. I hope you both have lots of happy cycling adventures together. Also I hope you have a good D-lock for when you take it on trains.
Thanks Alex. Gold standard D lock + heavy duty cable arrived in post today. 👍

Pleased to see you sorted Andy, the generosity of some people is humbling. Looking forward to the next video
Glad you got it sorted Andy. Put it in the past and move forward onto your new adventures, looking forward to seeing where you go. 😀
That's a lovely bike, Andy
Hi Andy, lovely looking bike, glad you’re back up and running….and glad the saddle was useful at least🚲🙂👍🏻
Thanks Ian.
Hoping the wheels will be interchangeable too for heavy touring trips.
👍
@@andysadventures3910 yes they will be mate, they’re 622mm, so road bike, 29er, any 700c disc wheel compatible 👍🏻
@@mortyoutdoors7109 Thanks. Wasn't sure if disc brakes would need realigning.
This is new tech for me and I'm a bit tech illiterate 😊

Just think of it as a forced update of the bike! I treated myself to an electric bike horn…
Yes!! Lmao!
Wasnt your bike locked on the train?
hows the bike doing?
Really pleased with it 👍
