This entire video, and your answer to the weighing of fish comment is precisely why you're the man in this field on this medium. Class. Been a fan a lot of years now, but now it becomes apparent every video I become a deeper admirer to a deep and humble mentor! Wish my buddy and I luck on another spell of tangos with dinos from the depths!
Hey Clayton, I’m new to your channel and I love watching your videos I’ve learned a lot from your knowledge and I look forward to watching your future ice fishing videos and adventures. And I’ll take your knowledge on my family ice fishing trips thank you for making your videos and everything lie watching them 👍🏻
Another quality production from Clayton Schick Outdoors, but of course, he's Clayton Schick. I really appreciate how you handle the fish you plan on returning. I appreciate your discussions, over the course of your videos, about handling fish in freezing air conditions and using the right gear to land and not exhaust the fish. The best thing is you're not scared to use a barbless hook💪 👊. Around here those big girls you're releasing could be 30-40 years old. You're a great teacher and steward of your passion. Keep it up! BTW, nice fish too! I'm jealous down here on the southern edge of the ice belt.
Never gets old or repetitive CSO!! You are a joy to ride along with and enjoy the wins and sometimes the lows. Cool shallow aqua view camera footage, never seen that one till today👍
Awesome video Clayton, I’m always impressed with your attentiveness to the conservation of our fisheries. Kudos to you, and other RUclipsrs who advocate for conscious fish handling techniques, for passing on such valuable information to your viewers. 👍🏼
I carry a decender on all my laker trips for the sake of the fish. Very important. Only need it once every couple years, but it's saved a few 30 pound fish. P.S. Terrific video as usual. Loved what you said about being open to learning new things.
I like your thoughts on weighing and measuring fish. It's pretty easy to get a quick pic and measurement of a nice fish, but the extra time it takes to weigh could make a difference as to the health of the fish when it's released.
You mentioned it feeling repetitive sometimes. Speaking for myself, I enjoy just watching the fishing and what you do while you are out there, (especially on the ice).
I'm from the UK so we don't get to fish like you do, your videos are great to watch, looking forward too watching many more, hope you catch that 50lbs trout, john francis
I don’t think it’s a bad idea to go over tips like structure, technique and lures more than once. New viewers are one thing but the rest of us don’t always have a chance to use your tips in time to make them memorable. It helps to hear them more than once.
Was just looking for a vid to watch while eating supper. Perfect timing! Finally got on the walleye bite and got my dad on a 28in 9lb walleye last weekend, hopefully the same this weekend lol!
Clayton, your recent information about trout not burping helped save 3 lakers in the last couple outings. One of which was a really bad situation. The irony is crazy. Been fishing lakers for over 25yrs and have never encountered one that didn’t burp until this week. They came up with a mouth full of burbot, quick reaction to remove the lodged meal followed by massaging till she puked all over the ice with some nice burps for her to be released back down to the depth’s. now as much as you didn’t give out much info on the what to do in this scenario, having the bit of info you gave fresh in mind made the emergency revival that much more quicker for us to get her back safely instead of just laughing at the fact we caught a hungry trout with a burbot in her mouth. As much as you think you’re getting repetitive in your videos, which you sometimes are, the fresh information or refreshers help many of us more than you think. I can honestly say without a doubt you helped save a beautiful 31.75” chunky laker. And I can’t thank you enough for that.
really wanted to see the blacken'd laker, do another vid with it. love that style of fish. just grilled some Marlin the other day we caught, Keep'em coming big fella.
I caught a decent Laker around 16 lbs many years ago that would not burp. I couldn’t get it back down after many tries. I ended up putting it in my livewell and used a syringe to vent it like you can do for bass. I hated doing this but it was my only option. It did swim down after but I am still not keen on venting. So glad this has only ever happened once
every try boiling lakers? Had to do it once when cooking in the pouring rain in the BWCA and couldn't keep a fire going. Now, when fishing for trout, we always have one dinner boiled. Cut into small cubes, they boil very quickly and sprinkel some Lawrys salt. Fantastic!! It's a big deal on the south shore of Lake Superior. My wife grew up attending lake trout boils (HUGE kettels, under a fire, with potatoes, carrots and onions all cooking together).
Fish sandwiches are the best! Do you ever fry your laker with the skin on? I love it that way, get the skin crispy and it’s deadly. Always fry them up when they’re between 16” to 22”
Hey Clayton love the vids can you please make a video on getting pike or whitefish to bite when the are very negative and high pressures I tried using a smelt on a tip up but it didn’t work
Another great video, was looking forward to the Blackened laker but glad you spiced things up and added the All Terrain. Damn should have used that with my fish bites the other day ❤️❤️🤜🤛
Clayton have you ever tried dropshooting while ice fishing?,Got an idea for name of your question segment ,,ask Eeyore (donkey off of whinney the pooh) bwa ha ha.You rule buddy, keep up the great content....bob
Also, how was the fish with Clayton event? Definitely something I would die to take part in! Outta my price range but hopefully one day I can come! Just a trip to bakers narrows would be amazing lol
Not a question but a livescope tip if you're interested Clayton... take your depth off auto and adjust manually when you're ice fishing. You're losing about ⅓ of your screen in this video at that 70ft depth. Get that bottom as close as you can to your bottom adjustment buttons. Thank me later.
Hello Clayton, my name is Jeff first time subscribing to your channel really like watching your videos. Lots of information and I tried to use some of your ideas when I go ice fishing it is February 20 right now 2024. Haven’t had much luck catching fish this winter, I’m watching your video of Lake Charles fishing. I have also noticed on a lot of your videos you really don’t mention the lakes that you’re on just wondering why is that lol.
Are you supposed to wet your hands before landing or handling the lake trout like we are for rainbows or brook or brown like we are in Pennsylvania? Great vid good meal👍👍
Hi, just curious ive fished lakers for many years in the apostle islands, and you fish mostly what i think of as whitefish, splake, browns depths, i like 200-250 feet i never target them in less than 125-150 feet. Never caught i big one yet, lots of nice ones. Most times they don't have a problem swimming back, just if its small take a bit more time bringing them up. Is this in your opinion killing many of the fish, most people here think they live and id agree if you take time on the small ones, some you cant keep too small 13,14 inch, but they are not bloated if you slow down bringing them up.
Question for Clayton . Do you believe that burping lake trout is a good or bad thing ? We fish Lakers on Big Green Lake in Wisconsin in around 100 feet of water. And we try to burp them before sending them back .
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors I'm hoping so. I was kinda hoping to get Jeff knocked out, but I'll settle with him having a great time. Hey feel free to shout me out on a video. Also for the record, if Jay was going to be there, he was only supposed to get a suttle nod. Keep up the content brother and I'll keep watching 🍻
No wieghtin* them is to see if they are normal or extra good fishery like a 19 inch 7 pound fish , But u have a 26 in fish that's 3 1/2 pounds ,just to see if the pond watershed is healthy , But measureing them is kinda the same ,bragging rights, why measure them ? Same same

What you said from 36:00-38:00. I wish everyone had this mindset.

The numbers don't matter at all. It's all about making the memories and enjoying time out there waiting for the next bite.
Hell ya. Just finished fixing the broken garage door that prevented me from getting it fishing today. Now to relax and watch Clayton fish.
Never gets old or repetitive CSO!! You are a joy to ride along with and enjoy the wins and sometimes the lows. Cool shallow aqua view camera footage, never seen that one till today👍
You had me at "blackened Lake Trout sandwich"! mmm...😋
I guess a "spicy crunchy Lake Trout sandwich" will do too! Looks and sounds so good!

Well, that was enjoyable. Beautiful fish, food, fun. So respectful. Thanks Clayton. ❤️✌️👍

just another great video. can't wait for the next one.
Eating like a king on the ice! Love it. Great video
The fish interigation with your eater on the ice was funny!
I really enjoy the cooking segments of your videos it gives such good ideas for on ice meals. You should make a cook book
Great footage and knowledge as always. Been waiting to see fish sammy on the ice thank you! Cheers bud.

Nice tut on cleaning them. Those pin bones just tick me off. Lol. Very good video Clay.
Love the under water camera views while fighting the fish
love the aqua view cam, game changer this year
Favorite Part of the Week!!!

I caught my pb laker last weekend on a small inland lake in Michigan. 33”er slurped a lake shiner out of the dirt. Wow, was that exciting.
Was just looking for a vid to watch while eating supper. Perfect timing! Finally got on the walleye bite and got my dad on a 28in 9lb walleye last weekend, hopefully the same this weekend lol!
Highlight of the night! - A Clayton Schick video to watch! Always look forward to another CSO video.
That fish samich had my mouth watering 🤤🍻
Haha love the "Dort Slurp". Our ice season is done here in SE Ontario. Horrible winter, worst I've seen 😪.

appreciate the filet tips!

It’s not on auto :) I do adjust of myself. Also if it’s not all the way to the buttons you can see further out the sides.

If any, what rod case do you use to transport and protect your rods?
What do you mean your not a lake trout professional. I feel like a pro just from watching your vids lol. C&C love it
Awesome video Clayton, considering I’ve never had lake trout I wonder in your opinion what is the best species of fish to eat? Keep up the great work

No Clayton, I don't play keep away with fish because I don't CATCH enough fish to waste opportunities like that 🤣
I have a question, why did you go with Garmin livescope vs megalive?
Great video. Nice fish. By the way, what does FG stand for as far as the knot goes?
I ‘WAS’ just about to go to bed haha , oh well
Question for Clayton . Do you believe that burping lake trout is a good or bad thing ? We fish Lakers on Big Green Lake in Wisconsin in around 100 feet of water. And we try to burp them before sending them back .
hey clayton what do you think your biggest laker is weight wise?
What’s the most expensive object youve dropped down the fishing hole? And did you retrieve it?
Lets goo
Will I'm still wait for your live chat clayton
You had me scared when you said you were going to show off your buns. I was reaching for the mouse.
Hey Clay, it's Mike from Ontario. Did you get that hug I sent you?
Haha!! The long awkward one? :)

Question, do you smoke any trout much? If so, what is your recipe. Thanks.
Do you ever get stopped by conservation officers while fishing? I feel like that would be cool to include in a video.
These Laker videos...dude where was I before I found CSO....
Was that Jay saying you didn't know how to measure a fish?? lol
Is there a jay vs clay ice fishing addition
❤️👊💪🎣
I know you target all spices of fish but there is nothing that comes close to the Mack videos you do !!! As always thank you for the video !!
Get sum
I tip my cap to you for your conservationalism. More people need to think this way

I said the measurements are the same thing. Bragging rights and that’s all.
I love the catch and cook episodes!!!!
