@@filevans You are right. I should have said conversion to be more exact because in the 16-bit days there was no way the game systems could get a port of a 32-bit arcade game. Don't be too upset, just be happy it happened and people were able to enjoy these games at home. Happy Holidays!
I'll always remain impressed that the Ryu intro animates perfectly on the Sega Genesis and isn't missing any frames of animation. The SNES version is missing a lot of them and supplements them with more movement, making Ryu's limbs look floaty.

Flávio Eduardo Pontes The game could be transferred to SNES thanks to the external chip s-dd1 of compression and decomposition of graphs something impossible in MD

Genesis/MD fans will swear on their life that the Genesis port looks better than the actual arcade. Despite the fact that it has a shitty 9-bit RGB. They'll do any sort of mental gymnastics to make there beloved Genesis/MD look superior. I've seen people on the SSF2 SNES vs Genesis comparison actually say that the Genesis version looks better because of the colors. The funny thing is when you compare the SNES to the Arcade you notice just how much closer it is in color to the arcade than the Genesis/MD. Not to mention that the SNES has a beefier 15-bit RGB.The Genesis version looks like it was colored by someone with a very limited pallette (and it essentially was) and it looks basic and blown out in some parts. Also the Genesis/MD is missing a lot of background animations as well. It's a good port, but definitely not superior to the arcade (lol) or the SNES version.
to me the genesis version is a a bit of a step down in some areas compaired to special champion edition . the music was awful as special was pretty damn close . the backgrounds didn't look so great either . but the game play still was great with great controls . it was far from bad , but far from good port .

Given the huge hardware differences, it's a great port. But I can't stand the Genesis' ugly SFX/music, that's why I prefer the SNES version. I know there are color and sound improvement hacks out there, but they sound just slightly better. Whatever, SF2 games never get old or boring!
Ah the cheese grater that was Genesis's sound system. There's a few cool sounds and tunes on the Genesis, but it's not when it was trying to emulate someone else's pre made tunes.
Actually it was a great sound system it was just devs didn't want to spend extra time on it and just often used the easiest sound core to program for even if it sounded terrible.
Never realized how accurate the Ryu animation was in the genesis to the arcade while the snes was missing a lot of frames. The thing with this port though was how shitty the music and SFX were heavily degraded when the console is much capable.

Wow....you know so much fuss was made back when the 4th generation ports of SSFII came out about them not being close to the arcade. I even felt that way but I didn't care because Super Street Fighter was in my home. After watching them side-by-side I think the 16-bit consoles did a damn fine job. However, it's even better now that an indy developer has completely fixed both versions of Street Fighter for the Genesis. Now it's so close to the arcade it is scary. I wonder, did Capcom purposefully nerf the Sega Genesis version so it wouldn't blow past the Snes port? It really seems that way too me as when the Genesis has the proper sound codecs and the right color implementation it's not even close. The Snes port becomes inferior in every way conceivable. The fixed Genesis port sounds almost arcade perfect, it already featured better frames of animation, it has all voices that are arcade perfect, all backgrounds found in the arcade fully animated, and the new colors just pop off the screen like a fireworks display.
Worse graphics but better animation and more voices than SNES + the music doens't reboot between each rounds unlike SNES + one exclusive game mode. Good port overall even though it could have been tweaked in a few aspects.

Although the MD version puts out pretty damn good if you want a true arcade perfect port get the street fighter collection on the Japanese Sega Dreamcast it had the original CPS2 arcade version of street fighter 2 the new challengers
Aren't MK3 and UMK3 bigger? Also SNES has 40 and 48 meg carts with Tales of Phantasia and a few others. And then there are the post-official games such as Pier Solar and its 68 meg or the forthcoming Paprium and its 80 meg.
+Yohko M. - It is in fighting games, near of neo geo style. SNES had some games with more storage, but these were japanese rpg, very slow games. In fighting games, SNES did not surpass 32Mb and already these had problems.

Genesis version is garbage. Especially the sound. The graphics are a little nicer than the SNES version, but the SNES does everything other than the graphics right.
SNES version had frames removed, not the genesis (more animation frames, more background detail, etc). After all the genesis program surely share a good chunk of the arcade program.
Graphics were a good effort ... It was the sound that let the Megadrive down badly even to the SNES let alone the arcade. It sounded tinny and awful. And it sucked that you had to buy a 6 button controller to play it properly as the original only had three buttons. 2 if you wanted multiplayer.

Although the MD version puts out pretty damn good if you want a true arcade perfect port get the street fighter collection on the Japanese Sega Dreamcast it had the original CPS2 arcade version of street fighter 2 the new challengers
Arcade!!!!
Genesis always got an A for effort but holy hell the shading on genesis ports in general looked terrible
Tiny characters and dull colors on the Genesis.
still better than the SNES version ahahah.
Better Graphics and Sound: Arcade
Better Color pallete: Sega
The only 40 Mb cartridge on 16-bit!
Apparently MK3 and UMK3 even on SNES are also bigger, at least the rom sizes are. btw Star Ocean is 48.
+John Jameson
Ha! I already implied a lie in another video, when someone claimed that Street Fighter II SCE is bigger cart on Genesis than SNES while actually Genesis rom size is smaller. I don't know how it works though between cart size (meg) and rom size but if it's a lie, then next level Crapcom towards Sega (in addition to others bullshit such as Mega Man the Wily Wars).
+Don't do it
While in rom size terms SSF2 genesis = 2,74 Mo while MK3 SNES = 3,35 Mo.
So 🤔 consoles are harder but smaller though darker colors and bad music.
Megão mesmo boicotado pela Capcom, muito superior!
Show a versão do Mega Drive
Genesis version is garbage. Especially the sound. The graphics are a little nicer than the SNES version, but the SNES does everything other than the graphics right.
SNES version had frames removed, not the genesis (more animation frames, more background detail, etc). After all the genesis program surely share a good chunk of the arcade program.
arcade vs sega genesis? you are a insane, and sega fanboy...
Graphics were a good effort ... It was the sound that let the Megadrive down badly even to the SNES let alone the arcade. It sounded tinny and awful. And it sucked that you had to buy a 6 button controller to play it properly as the original only had three buttons. 2 if you wanted multiplayer.
Le versión arcade siempre será la mejor, no hay ninguna adaptación que pueda llegar a lo que el arcade genera
Arcade
First - Chupa Giovani = D
estou assistindo ainda XD
Street Fighter 2 new challengers for Sega is a Perfect port.
LoL... NO
It's a good port not a perfect one!
Are you high?
it isn't
It's a shitty port with horrible sound.
Yo por arcade o tliin
Arcade and snes stomp the genesis version!
No.
This is my opinion ok? Don't judge it.
@@louiskeiflin5858 if you don't want someone to respond then don't post a comment.
No !
The gameplay is a way better on genesis !
@@louiskeiflin5858 are you missing that the genesis and the arcade have more in common than the SNES with the arcade ? Capcom had to reprogram SSF2 for SNES, while they used the arcade program with recoded part on the genesis. you see the difference ?
MD more fiel to arcade
Genesis Does ! What Arcadon't!😂
Not really, the arcade game SQUASHES the bad sounding MD version.
No
1th
Mega Drive, como siempre, malísima y la música pésima..
Arcade é melhor do que qualquer console
Genesis sound.....iugh
Colors, voices and music are terrible. Decent port though.
