That stuff looks fantastic, Mike. I know what kind of coax I'm going to be looking for next time I need to purchase some. Buy once, cry once, and get the stuff that will perform, and last. Thanks for sharing the awesomeness of this product.
And right you are! I also have M&P co-ax and connectors here in the U.K. . A joy to install, and high spec/performance/quality cables & connectors. Thanks for the vid Mike!
Hi Mike, I have gone over totally to M&P coax and connectors - a joy to use. After the antenna the coax is the most important bit of the set up. Worth every penny. Thanks mate. Tom
I saw today that Messi & Paoloni is one of the sponsors for the January 2023 Bouvet DXpedition. I'm currently using ABR Industries coax that is made there in Texas. I am planning to take a look at the Messi & Paoloni at Hamvention. Thanks Mike.
Aside from the connectors, why did you choose to go with M&P as opposed to Times LRM-400 or DX Engineering 400Max? Is the M&P Hyperflex 10 really that more flexible? The loss chart pretty much shows them as identical. If you were in Europe, I could see with going with M&P, but it's a bit more expensive here in the US than the alternatives.
I’m glad you’re bringing M&P into the light. I stumbled on their coax by accident. They weren’t exactly mainstream as far as I can tell until now. Wouldn’t buy anything else.
Hi Mike, Great video. Will have to get some of those M&P connectors. You made putting them on easy. Their scissors made cutting to jacket look easy. Is that a metal mast you are using for the VHF/UHF antenna? Might also want to use a couple coats of liquid tape on the outdoor connectors as waterproofing. Stay safe. 73 WJ3U
I ordered a length of Messi & Paoloni coax from MFJ , but I never received it due to it being on backorder. I ultimately cancelled the order, but it wasn't a big deal since I ordered the coax just to see how well it performed.
i have ben looking for a pair of them M&P pl259 connectors for 2-3 Weeks Now & Every Where i looked is Out of stock ! just need a pair or maybe 2 at best for LMR 400 but i just have not had any luck ..Maybe one of these days but i really wanted to get it before my new ant goes up n a week or so but i am just going to half to use my standard Amphenol pl259's
How does the braid make connection to the outside portion of the PL-259 connector when there's no soldering of the braid and there's a rubber spacer between the insert that goes in the cable? When I use a multimeter to check my just made M&P cable, the center to center connection is good, but the outer portion of the PL259s is not showing connected. Weird.
uhh... cool coax! however, you mentioned talking the connector off without cutting it off the coax. But you cut the connecter off after talking it apart lol! i think the connectors are very cool! mjc
Hey Mike I really enjoyed the video. The M&P Cable is a fantastic cable And I really love the connectors. But I did not know you could take the connectors apart like that and reuse them that’s better than the PL 259’s. I just got tired of trying to put a PL 259 on a cable. Thanks for Sharing the video. Hope you have a great day WD5ENH Steve
The best that you can afford. It really depends on what you're doing though. M&P has great spec sheets on all their coax so you can compare the different versions. For me, running 100 watts the Ultraflex 7 Sahara is more than adequate. messi.it/en/download.htm
Thanks for the great video, I love my M&P coax, but was not aware of the assembly process, since the connector came on the coax at purchase. I have M&P coax with the connectors, I do have a couple questions: Should the entire connector be able to spin around the coax? Do I need to tighten down like I seen you do during the install?
When did it come in white. The numbers look better that lmr 400. You get it at HRO. Every time I go to look out of stock. And the connections are pricey
The Sahara is pretty new. Within the last year or so. It is better than LMR 400. It can be purchased at Gigaparts. There are links in the description. You get what you pay for.
Why did you pull the pin off? It wouldn't fit through the wall with the pin on? So screw on and tighten down connectors have been around for a while, but these look like a lot nicer setup. How does the dielectric hold up to the soldering iron? I know cheaper brands melt in a heartbeat. At the end you hooked the jumper from your meter to your VHF/UHF radio. With that heavy ass cable, now the equipment is going to go where the cable wants it and not the other way around 😁. What is the cost on this stuff? I might have to look into it when I put up my tower.
After reading your first sentence, I can't tell you how dumb I feel!! I've put a good amount of heat on these and have had zero issues with the dielectric. Granted, they aren't really touching or anywhere near each other with this design either so that's a plus. There is a balancing act one must perform with the heavy cable so as to not move around the equipment, but it's a small price to pay. As far as cost, Gigaparts doesn't have the version I used yet, but they are the US distributor for M&P Coax: www.gigaparts.com/nsearch/?lp=Messi#?lp=Messi&Stockstatusfilter=Currently+in+stock%21&search_return=all&res_per_page=60 There's also a 5% off link in the description.

I would suppose they would so long as they are of the same (or close enough) size. Hyperflex 10 is .400". Very similar to RG-213. I don't have LMR 400 but I will try them out with other sizes that I have. I'm going to do a video just on the connectors so I'll try that out.
