    Ayyy! This was a lot of fun! Those St. Agrestis cherries really do pack a bitter punch. It honestly caught me off guard the first time I tried them. I had pretty much the same reaction that you and your friends did. That's maybe another point worth highlighting: they will last longer because you probably won't just want to eat them out of the jar!! Glad it worked out and I'm definitely gonna keep an eye out for the Maraska brand cherries now!

    I've just started down the Bitters Rabbit hole, I'm not sure my teeth could handle a cocktail cherry one too! but good to hear I'm not missing out on a huge amount by sticking to luxardo

    Love it! Given I have explored near endless variations on base spirits, liquers, amaros, bitters, I should be check out more cherry options. Bada Bings were my go to for a long time but now Costco intermittently carries the BIG jars of Fabbri and they last a long time. Intrigued by some of the others and will pick up a variant or two. thanks!

      Wonderful! Fabbris are good, but the more sour options are a great variation!

    Great video! Nice bonus adding Joel! I miss his content! I was talking with someone else about cherries a little while back and they mentioned Walmart's gourmet cherries. It would've been interesting to see where they fell in on this list. Cheers!

      @@UnclePete Great vid Pete! +1 for TJ's "Pitted Amarena Cherries with Stems in Syrup" (wouldn't be surprised if they were made for TJ's by one of the other amarena producers in the vid). They are very good indeed: firm, flavorful with a bit of that "candied" texture, thiccc delicious syrup, and with stems (that can easily be pulled off if desired). Product of Italy and packaged in traditional amphorette glass jars. Craziest part? THEY COST LESS THAN $5/JAR ! They are however a highly seasonal item, only avail for a few weeks in Nov-Dec. Worth keeping an eye out for and stocking up around holiday-time, given price-to-quality ratio!

    Heh. We did a similar tasting last year, minus the St. Agrestis and the Maraska (I didn't even know Maraska did cherries) and plus Peninsula and Filthy. We each ended up with a favorite, but no one chose the American brands -- a couple of Toschi (including me), a couple of Luxardo, one Fabbri and one Griottine.
    Now I need to get my mitts on a bottle of Maraskerries.

    • @megworley6374
      @megworley6374 11 месяцев назад

    • @UnclePete

      Toschis are great, but I might switch to Maraska after this, though they are harder to get, so maraschino in pinch. Cheers!
