Chase... Dude!! Thank you SO much for this great, yet fairly simple fix! I wasn't able to order the exact LEDs in your link (sold out), but I was able to order similar, and a receiving them a week later, we now have 14 like-new inflatables in just a few hours!! The single light "guys" only take about 10 mins each, and the multi-light ones take a bit longer. So appreciative! And just as an idea for anyone who might not have a soldering iron and heat shrink (like me), I just used simple, small *waterproof* wire connectors... can't see them inside at all. And since the LEDs I ordered were a bit cheaper... no high-quality 3M double-sided tape - it was some cheap, sticky tape that stuck to nothing but my fingers... so I took your suggestion and used some small #4 stainless steel sheet metal screws (3/8") to attach each LED to the flat surface of the old LED, which worked perfectly! Thanks again for helping to give new life to our formerly very dim, or completely dark, holiday "guys." I'm now a new subscriber to your channel.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I recently purchased a store demo Halloween inflatable because it was the last one they had, out of stock online etc. It's so hard to tell how bright the thing is when it's on display in a store, so when I got it home and realized it was super dim, I was kind of bummed out. I figured, oh well. It was a demo, I knew what I was getting, and I got it for 50% because of this. Then I saw your video. Holy crap! I followed everything you did, and BAM! The thing looks good as new! I was so impressed I actually decided to swap out the LED in a Christmas dog infallible too because it only has 1 in its head and was never the brightest. I swapped out the original plus added a second one in the body, and the thing looks 1000x better now! Thank you so much again. Awesome video! Question...do you know how many of these LEDs you could run on this type of power supply without them dimming too much? I ask because I have an inflatable that already has 4 LEDs, but I was thinking of splicing 2 more in between the existing so that the body lights up as well, as right now its just black and dark.
From my measurements, at 12 volts the LEDs that were in my inflatables drew about 20mA each, and the ones suggested by Chase drew about 95mA each. The power supply label said it supplied 1A @ 12 volts. The fan itself was rated to draw 1A @ 12 volts so even just one of these LEDs was overworking the power supply. You need to look at the rated output of the power supply and either measure what the existing circuit is drawing, or sum up the rated draw of each component to see how much reserve capacity you have.
Did you say Chase Bliss? Like the guitar pedal builder? I build guitars, pedals and amps (an mod them 24/7 when im not working as a hobby lol) and i just looked up what other solutions people have come up with and your video was the first i saw. If you are "that" Chase Bliss then i couldnt be happier to take your advice lol. Either way thanks for the idea. I have some 3mm and 5mm white leds and i thought about just using some diodes to lower the voltage from the adaptor a bit but i figured that still wouldnt be bright enough (even if i maxed out the amperage at around 30 ma). Ill probably pick up some of the recommended LEDs tomorrow. Thanks again!
Awesome bud. I do the same. Just built my first amp. Have been wanting to for years and finally just bought the parts and went to town. I’m not Chase Bliss unless someone has given me a name I don’t know about haha. Glad to be able to help you out bud. Talk soon.
Thanks for the help from Huntsville! Getting my LEDs at Super bright LEDs. My kids are excited since the cheap LEDs used in these fairly expensive Home Depot inflatables. Thankfully I got ours when HD discounted then like 70%
I just tried replacing lights on a 10 foot inflatable. After 3 times of replacing and testing one led, it shorted out each time. I already completed one inflatable so I’m pretty sure I’m doing it right. I ordered the exact same led’s from your link. Halp.
Sounds like you have another issue going on. Probably a faulty power supply or your leds and power supply are different voltages. Check the power supply and see what it supplies volt wise.
Yup. It’s 120v. 😫😫. Do you have any videos/links for product on that? Amazon has me spinning and I burned my thigh with the soldering gun. 😫😆. So any assistance is appreciated.
I like your videos and it helped me a lot to save my inflatables, but on some of the inflatables when I use the led lights like you got and change them out they all work but on some when o have 3 to change out the first 2 will light up and then the last one won’t and on another one that has 3 leds the first one will light up but the next one won’t what is the problem I go them the same as I did the other ones
Hey Wanda, I’d definitely check the wiring between the leds. Also they do have a polarity so if they don’t work one way reverse the wiring and see if they work the other way. Hope this helps.
Wow you saved me this Christmas thank you soo much, I have a question I have Christmas inflatables how can I make them stay inflated during the day without them being connected to an outlet
Thank you soooo much for this video!Would that work on an inflatable that lights on and off? I have a 30 of his moments that have music and light off and on but the middle one doesn't light up anymore I was wondering if that will work with that
I'm a year late, but I just bought a Minnie to go along with our Mickey that our toddlers are obsessed with. Minnie's lights are dimmer than a night light right out of the box. Good grief. This will get her lit up nicely. Thanks!
Are the LEDs still sticking to the old ones? Remember you attached the old LEDs to the new ones with the 3M tape and back. Wondering if that's still holding together. Great video.
Man I wish I had seen this video last year when we got rid of our Christmas Darth Vader. You couldn’t see him at all at night. This would have fixed him up perfect. 😞. Oh well, it’s gonna save our snowman this year for sure! Thanks!
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I should be able to do this myself. Just one quick question. How do you remove the existing lights from the inflatable?
Thanks for the video, I have a problem, my ghost inflatable has 7 lights so I attached the new LED lights & only 4 of the 7 work. The first 4 are the ones that work & the 3 last ones don’t. What would fix my problem?
Now I can't find the parts list you set up, but the difference in the two were one went from 4 to7 MM and the other 4 to 9 mm. But now I can't find the links
I have a new Christmas tree inflatable with the same tan and lights it’s bright right now but once it gets sun I know what to do lol thanks 🙏🏼 my 10 feet Santa has bulbs though I’m gonna replace them with led bulbs when these new ones go out
I did not have trouble with mine. Make sure you don’t have a busted seam or any other tears. Usually that’s the cause of one not inflating properly. Had a few others state that their inflatables were old and the material had thinned and was coursing the inflatable to not inflate totally. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info! How’d you get the larger wires on the replacement lights into the connectors? We couldn’t get them to work with the crimping connectors. But we figured out another way and they’re looking great now! Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Thank you for the video. I just finished upgrading all the led lights in my Airblown decorations. I also used the UY wire to wire connectors instead of soldering. Rick83400 suggested them (thank you). That worked like a charm to connect the wires together.
Thank you I was able to get my inflatable to work when I swapped the outlet connection. I have a question do you have to Sauter the connections? I don’t have those too maybe some tape will work ?
Lourde Flores great! In the update video I go over other ways to attach without soldering. The video update is at the top of this comment section. You can find links to the parts in that videos description. Glad I got you going. Id defiantly use something besides just tape to make the connection. Hope this helps.
Do all inflatables have the same led lights? How do I determine which lights to purchase? Or can I use any? Can I also add more lights or brighter lights?
Look in the description of the video there is a link to snap connectors or butt connectors. They should work fine for what you’re wanting to do. Hope this helps.
This is such a great video. I’m gunna do this for our Christmas inflatables. Thanks so much. But quick question, I’m wondering if you know where I could get a new motor for one?! Our motor went in our favorite one. Thanks so much
Jenny Poole, thanks for the kind words. If you’d like to watch my update video on this you can. I discuss more about this project and there are links in the description on different parts. Hope this helps.
Jenny, yardinflatables.com also has motors for sale a bit cheaper than the 1 on amazon in his second video. Chase thanks for the great videos on these darn inflatables, lol. I have other broken wires on other regular Christmas lights & needed to learn about connecting options since they will be outside too, info. helpful for that as well.
Hey Chase! I bought my daughter a Hermione Granger inflatable for Halloween. I'm a little late taking them down. Here we are 8 days after Halloween & one of the sides of the wire broke at the adapter. How can I fix this so I don't have to throw it away within less than 2 months of buying it. Of course now that it's out of season I can't replace it & she will freak if I throw it. Please help!!!
Hey Jessica, you should be able to splice the connection back together. If you’d like you can send me an email of pics of it and I can give you a better idea how to fix it. Weatherfordwoodcrafts@gmail.com.
Michael Gerber awesome! I did another video on some questions people had. It’s pinned at the top of this comment section. If you have any questions let me know.
How does your uncle power so many inflatables? I put out almost 10,000 led light and 6 inflatables. Over that and I'm tripping breakers. How can I get pass that?
He wires in dedicated plugs to sections of the house where he could plug them up. More than likely all of your outdoor plugs are on one maybe two breakers. I would get an electrician to run you a couple of plugs on different breakers. That way you are spreading the vc amperage over multiple breakers instead of just one. Most 110 breakers are only rated for 20 amps. You’ll need 2 or 3 to power all your lights safely. Hope this helps. Thanks for the question and if you have anymore let me know.
I fixed all my small inflatables with these lights but I have an 11 foot snowman that I tried to fix but these lights blew out the second I plugged it in. Do they make a similar light for a 120v inflatable?
Hi there! Just wondering how I open an inflatable up that doesn’t have a zipper...and on the motor I don’t see any screws to undo...do I just try to pop it off? I’m scared to break the fan/motor part trying to open it up! Thanks for a great video and any tips you have!!
Lacey Parnell hmm I’m not sure on that. I’d say the way into it would be what you said by going through where the motor is. Not sure how it removes though. It might not be made to removed. You may could bust a seam in the back and then use some 3m Velcro to fix it after the repairs. Never tried that but it may work.
Hey bud. It’s pretty much a 50/50 shot to get them right. I’d try one and see if it works if it doesn’t switch the leads and repeat. One combination should work as long as the voltage is right.
How's it going ? Appreciate the video. I order the led's in the description, wired them in on two different inflatibles and they don't light. The connections are good as the fan still works. Or maybe it would work regardless even if I cut the wire coming out of the fan to the circuit ? I tried wiring them both ways in regards to the wires, but nothing. What am I doing incorrectly ? Thank you for your time.
middletown wolfpack hmm. Make sure you have continuity from your fan to your lights. Could be a broken wire. Also check the polarity and make sure they are both correct.
Hey bud, you can usually reach them from the zipper in the side of the inflatable unless it’s a newer model you may have to bust a seam or remove the fan motor. It’s usually held in with a zip tie. Let me know what you find out.
Thank you for your video! Your link wasn’t going to arrive in time so the lights I grabbed came with 4 wires ? It seems like two on the positive two on the negative .... is this an issue ?
Linzi Pryor-Ralph you could have rgb lights. Send me a link to the ones you got and I’ll try to see if I can show you how to wire them. RGB lights usually work off of a controller that can vary voltage to different led in the light so that you can get a wide variety of colors. There is usually a way to wire them where they are just white too. If you want send me an email with some pics of your setup. Chase@cwkshop.com
Hello. Thank you for the video. I'd like to know if I can simple twist the wires together and tape it with electrical tape? I don't have a soder iron or soder or heat shrink. Is this ok to do?
ChampangeSuperNovaz thanks, I would use some way to bind them atleast with a wire nut and heat shrink. I have a few options on my update video that you can watched pinned in the comments above.
It’s not ness is art to solder but I would try to make it a waterproof connection. Also if you’re new to electronics watch some basics on it and make sure you’re comfortable doing it before attempting it. I plan on doing another update on this project. When I made the video I had no idea this many were interested in it.
If you have at the very least a heat gun, you can buy solderless heat shrink connectors on Amazon that will do the trick. They have a band of solder in the middle with some glue on the ends to make the waterproof seal. That's what I ended up doing (as I have no experience with soldering) and they worked great! I added some electrical tape after as well just to hole both wires together and for some added protection.
@@ChasesWKshop I used these ones, the red were the ones that fit best on the wires. www.amazon.com/Kuject-Solderless-Waterproof-Electrical-Automotive/dp/B07T1HYJ9G/
Yes, that should work fine. Wire nuts butt connectors anything. I would get some liquid wire from Lowe’s to help make it water proof too. Thanks for the question!
Your a life saver. I have been thru 2 strands of lights on the roof. One went out within a week 2nd I bought a more expensive set and went straight to the roof and replaced them..(with out plugging them in first to check that they worked 100%) and boom 1st 25 don’t work. So after this inflatable project I’ll be looking to haunt down the faulty bulb on the roof. Thanks for the help bro

Talk soon.
Definitely helped me out!!
Thanks for the help from Huntsville! Getting my LEDs at Super bright LEDs. My kids are excited since the cheap LEDs used in these fairly expensive Home Depot inflatables. Thankfully I got ours when HD discounted then like 70%
Thanks for the vid bud!! JUST what I needed!! 😁👍🏻👍🏻
You’re welcome bud!
Thank you, just updated our Oct inflatables and boy do they look great. Will soon do Nov and Dec.
mike cech you’re welcome! Glad I could help you out!
Thanks so much!
Took pics, but didn't see where I could upload them!
Worked beautifully!
karen maierle awesome! Glad I was able to help you out!
Wow you saved me this Christmas thank you soo much, I have a question I have Christmas inflatables how can I make them stay inflated during the day without them being connected to an outlet
J Juice you’re welcome. I’m not sure if that’s possible bud.
Thank you soooo much for this video!Would that work on an inflatable that lights on and off? I have a 30 of his moments that have music and light off and on but the middle one doesn't light up anymore I was wondering if that will work with that
Thanks! Yes it should work fine if all that is out is the light.
I'm a year late, but I just bought a Minnie to go along with our Mickey that our toddlers are obsessed with. Minnie's lights are dimmer than a night light right out of the box. Good grief. This will get her lit up nicely. Thanks!
Erdie5 you’re welcome. Glad I could help!
Just what I was looking for! And easy to follow. Thank you so much! You’ve got a new subscriber in me! 🤗
Are the LEDs still sticking to the old ones? Remember you attached the old LEDs to the new ones with the 3M tape and back. Wondering if that's still holding together.
Great video.
They did last year. I haven’t checked them this year. It did a lot better than I expected.
Man I wish I had seen this video last year when we got rid of our Christmas Darth Vader. You couldn’t see him at all at night. This would have fixed him up perfect. 😞. Oh well, it’s gonna save our snowman this year for sure! Thanks!
Janet Worley dang I hate that!
I only wish I had seen this video a couple of months ago. Great job!
Thanks! Ordered my lights off amazon - should be here in 2 days!
Did you have to solder together?
can you provide the link to those lights.. cant find them on amazon
Love your country accent.
Thanks! I never realized how much people like an ole Alabama accent haha! Thanks for the comment!
Thanks I need to do this to mine it’s very dim this should help
Thanks for the info i was going to mess with mine after christmas before i box them up for next year
Paul kincaid awesome. Let me know if you need anything!!
@@ChasesWKshop Finally started working on them. Got 2 done 4 more to go.
Paul kincaid awesome!! Glad it helped you out.
Looks amazing! I’m fixing to order some and fix mine!!!
Awesome!
Great video ! Is it still holding up ?
Yes! Working great. Thanks for the kind words!
Great video keep it up
thanks for the great info Chase
Great video where did you buy the led lights?
Thanks. Look in the description of the video for links to led lights and other parts.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I should be able to do this myself. Just one quick question. How do you remove the existing lights from the inflatable?
Al I didn’t. I actually used the adhesive backing on the new lights and attached them to to old lights.
I need to fix mind, thanks. I might just glue new light to old lights.
Awesome! My grinch stopped working. I'm going to do this
Congrats on 1k! You’re amazing. Can’t wait for you to have the shop you need and deserve. I’m a huge fan😘😉
Steph Weatherford thanks babe!! 😘😘
Hey buddy do you know where I can get a replacement power supply for the airblows ?
Hey bud, look in the video description. There are links to parts. Hope this helps bud.
Thank you for sharing this I will have to use in mine.
Bob Peck you’re welcome!!
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Thanks for the video, I have a problem, my ghost inflatable has 7 lights so I attached the new LED lights & only 4 of the 7 work. The first 4 are the ones that work & the 3 last ones don’t. What would fix my problem?
@@genivecline8400 you could try switch the polarity by flipping the connection of the wires you added. LED lights will only work in one direction.
The butt end connectors are they k1 or k2 when i clicked your link it gave me two options
Hmm. Either one should work. Never had that option before. Sorry for the confusion. They look like the same product.
Now I can't find the parts list you set up, but the difference in the two were one went from 4 to7 MM and the other 4 to 9 mm. But now I can't find the links
I have a new Christmas tree inflatable with the same tan and lights it’s bright right now but once it gets sun I know what to do lol thanks 🙏🏼 my 10 feet Santa has bulbs though I’m gonna replace them with led bulbs when these new ones go out
Awesome, glad I could help you out!
I’m curious because the new led is bigger than the old did the inflatable have trouble inflating and standing upright?
I did not have trouble with mine. Make sure you don’t have a busted seam or any other tears. Usually that’s the cause of one not inflating properly. Had a few others state that their inflatables were old and the material had thinned and was coursing the inflatable to not inflate totally. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info! How’d you get the larger wires on the replacement lights into the connectors? We couldn’t get them to work with the crimping connectors. But we figured out another way and they’re looking great now! Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Cynthia Smith dang I’m sorry. The lights I had wires were small enough to go into the connectors. Glad you got them going though.
Thank you for the video. I just finished upgrading all the led lights in my Airblown decorations. I also used the UY wire to wire connectors instead of soldering. Rick83400 suggested them (thank you). That worked like a charm to connect the wires together.
Awesome! Glad to hear! I bought some of those too and used them in a video I hope to get out today or tomorrow. Thanks for the comment!
@@ChasesWKshop awesome I will check it out thanks again!! Good luck with everything! I will subscribe for sure!
What did you do to the end piece? I see you put the green shrink wrap on the end did you just wrap it from touching?
I heat shrieked each wire separately then heat shrieked both of them together. I think that’s what you were asking.
@@ChasesWKshop got it thank you
Do all inflatables have the same led lights? How do I determine which lights to purchase? Or can I use any? Can I also add more lights or brighter lights?
Look at the power cord and see what voltage it’s using. Normally it’s 12V. In that case get 12volt bulbs. Most of the ones I’ve seen use 12 volts.
What I you dont have a solder. What would be the best way. Have it done with Electrical tape now til i get what I need..
N. Watson awesome thanks for the link!!
Did they take off the little cap over the leds? If so, how?
No I didn’t remove any cap on the leds. I’m not exactly sure what you mean by caps on the leds?
This is sooo helpful! Thinks for the amazon links!
You’re welcome!
Where to buy lights
Debra Cooper there is a link in the description.
About to do these today! Thanks man!
Hi i purchased the lights mine came with a red line and not grey. Which wire does the red one go to?
Have you noticed a delay when turning on the lights at all? Kind of weird that the first one I did takes around a minute to turn on once I plug it in.
I know this is old video but how do u get to the lights inside
@@ChasesWKshop if I order self soder heat shrink connectors and use a hair dryer will it work?
Has anyone found those locking tabs for the backside of the lights ? Grommets whatever you want to call them. I've been looking all over Amazon
Great idea! Is it necessary to solder or can you just intertwine and use electricians tape? Zero experience with electricity here...
It’s not ness is art to solder but I would try to make it a waterproof connection. Also if you’re new to electronics watch some basics on it and make sure you’re comfortable doing it before attempting it. I plan on doing another update on this project. When I made the video I had no idea this many were interested in it.
@@ChasesWKshop thanks Chase! Keep up the projects!
Jordan Downer great idea! Can you link the parts from amazon that you used. Thanks for the info!
@@ChasesWKshop I used these ones, the red were the ones that fit best on the wires. www.amazon.com/Kuject-Solderless-Waterproof-Electrical-Automotive/dp/B07T1HYJ9G/
Can I use butt connectors on my positive and negative led lights instead of soldering them together? Thanks
Victoryous1 MoB that sounds like my kinda luck lol. Glad you got it figured out though! Thanks for the comment and Merry Christmas!
It’s actually tricky on replacing leds on my airblown inflatable
This is awesome. To bad I don’t know how to solder. 🤣🤦🏻♂️. Need this done so bad as all of my blow ups lights have gone out completely.
Michael LaMartina thanks bud, check out the update video pinned at the top of this comment section. I go over other ways to fix besides soldering. Hope you get use out of it. Take care.
So random question not related to the video really, your uncle's inflatables, is he near Florence, Alabama? We've been asking around Florence looking for places to see Christmas displays, I noticed your shirt and thought I would ask. Great video by the way
Blair Page yes he is in Leighton. Look up Gargis Christmas lights on Facebook.
Where do you get replacement lights, what are they called
There is an Amazon link in the description where you can get them. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Thanks.
I need the link to getting replacement bulbs
