Peugeot 406 COM2000 Indicator Stalk Replacement

- Removing and replacing a COM2000 unit from a late Peugeot 406
This will apply to face-lifted 406's made after 2001 that featured the COM2000 combined indicator and wiper stalk assembly.
It was a part notorious for developing a floppy indicator stalk. Unfortunatley some try to fix this by fitting the unit from other PSA cars of this era (307, 407, Xsara Picasso) while the units removed from those cars fit and mostly work in the instance of this 406 the unit was not compatible with the automatic lights feature.
It is possible to simply disable auto lights and switch them on at the stalk, like a mere pheasant such inconvenience.
However i have been waiting for years to make this video, my own 406 had a brand new replacement valeo com2000 unit fitted in 2010 by a local mechanic before i started working on cars, any i have worked on since have been pre facelifts with the old separate stalk units.

Ohhhh... Long time.
This comes in time, as my signaling indicator went crazy, signals to the left by it self and is loose so I'm planning on replacing the inner plastic knob (sold on eBay)..

Excellent and professional video. One question when you replace the com2000 did the engine start or needs coding with Peugeot Planet? I am asking because one connector out from 4 is comming from key.
Hi there, thanks for the comment.
No there is no need to do any programming for the key, the com2000 contains the wiring going to the immobiliser antenna that revives the signal and presumably sends it back to the BSI or ECU to disable the immobiliser. It is the BSI or ECU that have the programming to recognise the key.

Tried this but bottled out on removing stalk...got one pivot free but found that when I tried the other the first one just popped back again. Really worried that plastic surround would crack and completely destroy the mount. What's the secret??...

My spedo meter not working.i checked spedo sensor in gearbox.i seen there is no sensor 3 wire socket.then i check the engine bay wire harness, but i could not find 3 wires for spedo sensor.i need to find 3 wires from ecu & bai to sensor.
Can you plz help me

The speedometer sensor should be electronic on all 406's the sensor sits on the end of the gearbox where the driveshaft goes in.

I do not have any 406s for sale, however there is no shortage of them for sale if you keep an eye on the classifieds, join the owners clubs and watch/ask there. They are not yet particularly hard to find. Some extra waiting about if you want something with very low mileage or a V6 but still about.
Could that be why my fog lights aren't lit?
Possibly although the actual fog light switch on these stalks is not usually known to go. Are you getting the indicator light coming on in the instrument cluster to show you have them turned on? If it comes on then perhaps check the bulbs for the fog lights. Depending on the year there might be a relay or else the BSI controls the fog light operation.
@@peugeotCitroen2CV There's no fog on the dashboard. I tried the light bulb, it worked.But I'm still thinking about buying a light bulb and trying it out.
