    legendary stuff! we had this wack problem where the indicator would only flash 3 times, then the headlights would come on and the indicator would cease, but if the headlights were on at the time, it would just continue to indicate like normal..
    the problem was just the indicator stalk itself, which my old man swapped out, but then failed to put the whole thing back together right.
    the angles and tests you provided along the way were magnificent and exactly what i needed to put it back together properly myself, and it's now working!

    The stalks being loose(e.g. indicating left when you go over a bump) is caused by the spring unbending, if you re-bend them they will last years. clockspring cable is a real problem, as it's hard to get a replacement. (Horn and air bags)

      Huh got the problem when indicating right and turn the wheels straight, it's indicating left. Going to try this. They asked 400€ for the entire module only (new part). Nope. Going DIY :) Hope it will be fixed, otherwise might have to get the part anyway haha.

    Many years ago.. umm 27 years ago I worked for a UK company that made some of the early “all singing all dancing switches “ for Fords. No electronics at all just a load of connectors.. made some prototype bits.. that was fun! Don’t think I have the courage to mess with air-bags n steering wheel !!

    At 13:38 you said you're not sure how the stalk itself comes apart. I'm currently having an issue with the headlight controls within the stalk itself being touchy and requiring some wiggling to gain contact at times. It's amazing that something so little can cause the car to be completely undrivable at night.
    I don't suppose you've had any exeperience taking one apart off camera, or since then, that you could shed some light on?

    Since blowing a Screenwasher fuse and replacing it, the wipers themselves are unaffected but I'm still not detecting any power delivery at the reservoir-pump. I'm swithering whether to replace (a) just the stalk-assembly in question or (b) the whole unit displayed for fear of burnt contacts in the latter. 'Very good demo', just the same.

    • @mr_nice.
      @mr_nice. 4 года назад +2

      Looks like a simple mechanical issue good buddy.
      The self canceling mechanism is visible in this video. It's just a piece of plastic that protruds into the path of the steering wheel column. In your case, it must have moved somehow and doesn't sit properly, or it might have broken.
      However..... the self canceling function is sometimes unwanted. I have the C5 (X7) that uses similar switches, and I can tell you, I'm seriously thinking of opening my stalk and removing that little plastic part, to disable that self canceling function. I'm so used to using my signals properly, AND putting them back, that it realy anoys me to turn the signal switch and it returns back when I don't want it to.
      What I'm getting at is that you realy don't need that self canceling function if you're used to using the signals normaly. And realy, how many cars have you seen on the highway with their blinkers on, and staying on the same lane? ... exactly. No use for the self canceling function there.
      You can take your pick, but I'm pretty sure it's a simple mechanical issue.
      Good day.

    Nice video, but there wasn't much about the wiper switch here, obviously.
    I have a problem with my 308 peugeot that it washes it's rear window randomly. Most obvious fault would be in the switch itself as the program works flawlessly. Any idea where i should begin - if the trouble even is with the stalk unit?

      @iikkakonola 6 лет назад

    • @backofficeshow
      @backofficeshow  6 лет назад +1

      They are thin little copper contacts that will have usually worn away or corroded. If you look on eBay you can sometimes find just the stalk on its own and retro fit that into the body. Make sure all the part numbers are the same.

    Citroen cars are quite famous for having melting connectors issues, some the pins in the connectors are largely undersized for the current they handle. They overhead and completly mess the plastics around. It is the case on the ground pin for the tail lights on the C3.

    • @backofficeshow
      @backofficeshow  8 лет назад +1

      +msylvain59 lucky enough now experienced too many electrical faults on ours. The worst random issues were because my wife dropped an entire bottle of water into the fuse box and ecu under the dash.

    I have the same problem as you good buddy, the computer doesn't recognize the first two positions of that rotating switch. The "off" and "side lights" positions aren't recognized by the car. Diagbox says "invalid command", and since it doesn't "see" anything, it turns on the lights by itself if the switch is in those two positions. The normal beams position work fine though. AND it can switch between high and low. It just doesn't see the first two.
