    Thank you for this perfect video. Someone had pulled my COM2003 apart and put it together again completely wrong. The ABS was always on, the horn was dead and there were strange noises when rotating the wheel. The horn was dead since the copper wires were bent and not in the holes. The strange noise was the white ribbon incorrectly mounted and thus slightly damaged. The white housing with its letters was 180 degrees wrong. Finally used LEXIA-3 to initialize the angle sensor. The ABS went off after less than 100 meters. 😉

    Good evening,
    This time this message is not for help, buThe way you wrapped the white ribbon is the right way. On mine, which had never been taken apart, it's like this.t to tell you that I finally succeeded thanks to your video. It is the only one on the internet for COM 2003. So a big thank you and bravo.

    Thank you for making this video , the ribbon cable yanked off when I pulled off the steering wheel and wouldn’t have been able to reassemble it without this video 😀
    Also this helped me to adjust the steering angle sensor with the tiny gear even though I used the assistance of the pp2000 diagnostic

    Hello Just seen your video and wonder if I could repair the light switch without unmount steering wheel . I have a Renault Laguna 2 from 2005 and is a Valeo 251640 switch found on Megane and other s .... . The light switch do not change to long ( intense ) light . Thanks .

    I done this myself today, looking for the RF receiver but I didn't get as far as you did. When I put it back together the hall mag sensor was off by one rotation (I wasn't watching what I was doing!) and the steering wouldn't calibrate until I set it right again. Nice video though, Think I'll tackle the RF receiver again soon, it died on me last week and it's not getting picked up by Diagbox anymore..

    • @hthring
      @hthring  7 лет назад

      yes, id always wondered where it was, so was interesting to find it there. glad you watched it. another thing i didnt realise until recently is that its this com2003 unit that diag box refers to as "switch under steering wheel" in the list of ecu's you can dialog with. not an exactly clear description...

      i also have a problem where i cant pair new key fobs with my car, have tried 3 used ones but wont work. have associated the rfid chips and that can start the car, but the HF remote to unlock the doors wont pair.. i try the process in lexia, but no luck. have you done it how ?

    • @JoeBob79569
      @JoeBob79569 7 лет назад

      When I got the car a few months ago the buttons weren't working, but I eventually got it working using the "key on, hold lock button for 10s" method, but I think my rf receiver was always a bit dodgy, the key fob would only work within ~2ft of the comm unit.
      I had to go right up against the window to get it to work. And my drivers door lock (barrel) was broken so I was afraid to lock it with the fob in case I got locked out! Then last week the rf receiver stopped working altogether, it's not getting detected by Diagbox anymore, so I assume it was on the way out for a while.
      I think I heard that they can only be paired to one car, but I don't know if that's just the immobiliser(with the security code in diagbox), or the central locking too, think it's just the immo though, so it should work alright..

    • @JoeBob79569
      @JoeBob79569 7 лет назад

      Suppose you could try disconnecting the battery for a while and try again, that seems to fix a lot of things! I had engine issues at the time as well and I disconnected the battery a few times to reset the bsi (don't know if I ever successfully reset the bsi !) to try and and sort it, so that might have helped me get it working again.. Think there's an actuator test in Diagbox to test the remote keys, but that's not really much help..

    Hello,
    When you put it back on the car, did you turn the rotary switch to the left or to the right, or did you do nothing else?
    Thank you and good Sunday

  • @CulinarySpy

    Thanks for the tear-down Hayden - I don't quite see what the problem was however and how you repaired it either. Did I miss something?
    My car is giving dodgy steering angle sensor messages but I won't tear mine apart if there's nothing in there to fix.

    • @hthring
      @hthring  7 лет назад +1

      Guido Fawkes what messages? I was looking to see if there was any problems I could see inside it, as I did have some errors but there turned out to not really be anything wrong with it.

    • @CulinarySpy
      @CulinarySpy 7 лет назад

      OK I understand now. Mine is saying stuff in the dash display like 'ASR/ESP faulty' or similar and when drilling down to check in Lexia steering angle sensor fault, which is showing '364437.2º' both before and after calibrating. Intermittently shows steering angle tracking with steering wheel movement.

    • @hthring
      @hthring  7 лет назад +1

      so depending on what module in lexia you are looking in the steering angle doesnt show correctly, that is normal, it can calibrate fine and work but it shows weird numbers. that being said you still may have a problem with it. does it calibrate successfully ?

    • @CulinarySpy
      @CulinarySpy 7 лет назад

      I've done these checks before when it was giving normal angle numbers. Either the sensor has a problem, or the BSI is processing the signals wrong - or some bad connection between the two I suppose. According to Lexia the steering angle sensor doesn't talk directly to the diagnostic system nor to the rest of the network except through the BSI. And while it says it has completed calibration, then I clear errors etc., it still comes back reading biggly degrees when checking parameters. Might be power not real good in one of the circuits I suspect, hopefully not mux board faulting. I woke up with a back injury today so don't want to go under the dash to check wire resistance etc. until it's healed a bit...tempting to gobble meds and have a quick look though ... appreciate your assistance very much Hayden!

    • @hthring
      @hthring  7 лет назад +1

      take it easy, no rush, it still drives, just turns those systems off until your back heals, to stop the warnings. so the 'under steering switch' is the com2003 module, you can also access the steering wheel angle in the suspension module ,though i think for me here it is not correct, as my version of suspension did not have adjustment due to steering angle so it did not need to receive it correct. the com2003 will send the angle readings to the bsi via CAN. the used com2003 modules go cheap from time to time on ebay used.

    hello, thanks for sharing,
    is it the same method with com2005?

  • @MrMajo1979
    @MrMajo1979 9 месяцев назад

    Hello sir. The steering wheel sensor is behaving very strangely. in a straight direction it shows -128° and just turn the steering wheel by 1-2 cm and it jumps to 51° and then it subtracts and adds how it has to zero which is roughly in the same place, it only does it from zero to zero by about one turn of the steering wheel. before I noticed this, when I saw 50°, I thought that someone had turned the center of the COM, so I had the steering wheel down and I found out that if the steering wheel is down, the COM is locked and nothing can be adjusted. ABS and ESP do not write an error. Only the suspension writes the error. Something can be done about it. Thanks for any advice.

    thx for the vid man .. you really gave me the courage to take`it apart , so this is what i will to this week , but i really dont know what to expect when opening the com up.. i have scaned the car with my delphi diag tool and found 3 errors : c1335 c1388 and u1205 all related with the angle sensor from the steering whell , i dont know if its the sensor faulty or is just not centered.. how do you know if the sensor is bad or just out of place .. does it have a mark.. ?

    • @hthring
      @hthring  6 лет назад

      What actual problem/s do you have with the car ? As the error about angle sensor might not be an issue, and the sensor might be working fine.

    • @konfusedmind6659
      @konfusedmind6659 6 лет назад +1

      i have a esp warning light on the small display when i start the car .. comes with a beep and then displays the esp crossed , and says esp/asr system faulty , i use a delphi tool scan , and shows this errors u1205 - CAN signal- steering angle sensor -permanent , c1135 -steering wheel angle sensor internal fault - permanent, c1388 steering whell calibration imposible - permanent , i delete the trouble codes , and after starting the car ..they come back .. the car runs fine , abs works.. but last winter i had a problem with the car drifting a litle at verry low speed.. guess the esp is not doing its job. thx for the quick reply

    • @hthring
      @hthring  6 лет назад

      So yeah it sounds like you got a problem. But there could be many parts causing it in this system, from the sensor/s themselves to the supporting circuitry and then the wiring. You might be easiest of getting a second hand switch unit of ebay, i got one for about $100-$200 , but if you want to pull yours apart you could for a look, you never know, you might see something. esp does keep you from drifting/spinning out, you can test it easy on gravel road by turning sharp on bend, and if it doesnt brake auto to correct it is off, which yours likely will be if you have the light.

    • @hthring
      @hthring  6 лет назад

      Dont worry pulling tho clock spring apart, that is not related. Did your error just start, or you think something that happened caused it ?

    • @KonfusedMind
      @KonfusedMind 6 лет назад

      Hayden Thring yeah .. so at first i had a abs/esp warning message . scaned the car , abs sensor in the right wheelhub failed , i've change'it with a new one (not original) , and then the abs worked , but the esp/asr error still there. anyway i guess you could be right with the other parts.. now i have a problem with the fan, doesnt turn on ..and the wather temp skyrokets..ac not working , glow plugs relay not responding..it seems to be something with CAN signal.. but dont know where to look ..searched the cable loom all seems good.. but still . i think the esp,asr,fan,glow plugs relay, are all inter'conected thru CAN , and the BSI is not responding when i try to control the system . like delete the fault codes.. i'm lost :) the car is a Peugeot 407 2004 2.0 Hdi 136 psi

    Hi there.
    First thanks for making this video.!
    I just bought citroen c5 with few small problems .one of them is ESP/ABS fault on dashbord .when i did scan the car with delphi i see fault (no communicaton with stering wheel sensor-permanent ) when i check live data about angle of the steering wheel position there is totally nothing happening when i turn the steering wheel.
    is there some other possibilities that i can check before i will take the whole com2003 apart?its looks to me like he is not geting power at all.
    greetings from holland.

    • @hthring

      they are not thaaat expensive used on ebay, you can lookup can find out what model yours is by the sticker on it or have someone look it up in a data base, or check with ebay seller, you want to check in diagnostic s with lexia or such, to see for any errors. it may or may not me the switch, though likely, it just sends signal to relay computer/module

      Hayden Thring I was told there are numerous modules and if you fit the wrong one even tho identical it won't work, I think it's because Ive been using the seat belt from passenger side on my driver's side and constantly leaving it in there, apparently there connected, bloody French electrics

      Hayden Thring it might not be but apparently there linked up with a tenchener to the airbag, but my lights come on all on there own and indicators will only work if lights are turned on, mine is a Peugeot partner 1.6 hdi 2009 how much did you pay for yours. I was told some Scrap yards won't even do them anymore for these models as there are numerous modules that are identical but the nos have to match up. And bran new there £300

      i got mine for $50US off ebay, you just make sure its that same model thats all, this can be found out a few ways, including the ebay seller, genrerally they can look up if it will fit your VIN or not.

      @@hthring Hi,
      No thank you very much, it's not necessary, there is only a little text that is not readable. You know we French are a bit lazy to learn foreign languages, so I have to use a translator by copying everything.
      But having written a text rather than speaking is much better for me to translate with Deepl. I only have to copy the text.
      Thanks again for your video, there are no others, so as I'm dismantling my 407's rotary switch, it's really very useful.
      You know I uncoupled the steering column at the gas and brake pedals, and turned the steering wheel oops! Now I've got the airbag light on and the horn doesn't work. So I'm taking it apart to see what happened and possibly change the white cloth that's rolled up inside.
