Good job taping the resepticle 22yrs ago when i first started doing electrical work i was taking a plus outta a metal box it arcked the breaker didn't trip the panel was a federal Pacific but i was burnt really bad from my index finger to my thumb then i was shown by my journey man tool partner to get a thin pair of leather gloves never been railed since.
@@bryanblood7063 oh wow, thank you for sharing that. That’s exactly why I tape everything! My old house here was built in 1910 and every receptacle box is metal. I hope others can learn from your story. Thank you again for sharing! Cody
That was not the right way. You need to pig tail and you only use one neutral and one hot... you just basically used the outlet as a fuse. But there is 2 sets of screws. Yes one set to outlet the 2nd set if you break the tabs and one can be a switched side of the outlet. 25 years of doing this boss.
@@markvasquez9486 thanks, does it matter which set I pigtail and store away? I was only repeating what I *thought* the electrician did when he/she installed this outlet that I replaced.

Ofc the landwhale sister underestimated him the most
Would not recommend a 20a on that 14 gauge wire.
@@adrianlopez3640 not for my application, but for whoever else is doing this and doesn’t have 14 g wire in their house.
