Yes, yes and yes! I'm really grateful I planned way ahead. I stopped doing an all over color in my late 30's and went to highlights/lowlights/balyage for many years. When I was ready to stop coloring we just highlighted less and less and less over several years, and I completely avoided any demarcation line. Having said that, I still had brassy ends, and I'm so happy to be completely my natural salt & pepper now.
I have just started my going gray journey. I'm 43 and the last time colored my hair was a few months ago and I can see my unique pattern of grays coming in and it excites me instead of angers me! I love your videos! And you are an inspiration!
I’m 64 and have gray hair about 7 inches below my shoulders. I get complements on it. My son loves it. I let my gray grow out in my late 40s, and have never regretted it.
Just found your channel- I decided not to colour my hair & also to ditch my hair straightening regime as I became allergic to the product- I’m loving the freedom of totally natural hair-however my sister told me that I look old & less attractive but do I care😜no-I feel great
My mom is 61 and still won’t go gray. I might end up going gray before her because I don’t feel the societal pressure to dye my grays! Maybe I’ll even inspire her to follow suit ❤️
My mom is late 70s and still coloring hers light blond. It does look good on her, but she recently said, after hearing me say I’m going gray, that she’ll probably grow out her gray. Yay!! I hope she does. I can’t wait to see her beautiful silver hair! 🤍🤍
Yes and yes to everything she said in this video. I am 53 and decided on stop dyeing my hair in November 2023. On December I went from very long hair to neck length. I went to the salon to remove the hair dye by an excellent professional hairdresser. For a while I had a yellowish light blonde, which I kept under control with purple shampoo and conditioner. By the end of January I had enough growth, went for a Pixie cut and still loving the Pixie so much! My hair has a very unique color, people have even asked me if I dye it blond. I used to have ash blonde hair, but now with the lighter shade looks somewhat blondish. It took me awhile to get used to see myself in my natural color. It is a process but truly worth it.
You have beautiful skin and your hair looks stunning! I am going to be 48 years old in March , I believe if I didn't dye my hair it would be completely gray by now. I am not ready to get gray yet but I hope when I am my hair will look as good as yours.
Thanks a lot of all suggestions. I am well on my way way, my journey now lasts 8 months. I love the transition and freedom (hairdresser😂). I will stick it out. Bests from Luxembourg, Marie 👐🏻
I stopped coloring/bleaching my hair about 5 years ago using a semi-permanent dye that allowed me to simply stop dyeing it when it was all gray. I love it but I should note that white hair can turn yellowish with over-exposure to the sun or hard water so it becomes all the more important to clarify with a chelating shampoo if you have hard water and to use sun protection (a hat or spf product). Also, my gray felt drier so I've become a devotee of leave-in conditioner and oiling my ends before shampooing.
I made the choice to stop coloring my hair nearly three years ago. The color made my hair feel like straw and it was thinning. I ditched the bottle shampoo with the commercial degreaser, and use Vunella shampoo bars. My hair came in fuller, and my hair feels softer and silky. I have my husband trim my hair about every 10-12 weeks to remove the splits/damaged ends. The colored hair just looked so monotone. My hair is elbow length, and I have about 8” of color left on the bottom. So I figure it will be another year and a half before all the color is trimmed off. I told my husband that he could chop off all the color if he wanted to, but he said that it will get there in due time. No need to chop off so much at once.
I have the opposite it's probably age I'm 48 but 3 years dye free my hair is brittle and breaks very easily, it was stronger when it was dyed. I'm actually worried about getting it cut professionally as I'm not sure it's strong enough for the hairdryer, additionally my ex boyfriend told me how it aged me, I'm now single 😊 I do love the freedom of not dying my hair but wish it was stronger and stopped falling out
Hormonal changes can cause finer and more fragile hair and skin. Try with some supplements for hair, skind, and nails. Also try with strengthening hair masks and sulfate free hair products. It may take a few months to discover which products works best.
YES maintenance free thicker and healthier :) I'm 9 months in now ,after 15 trys LOL and I think about coloring it again BUT I havent. Sooo I guess I like it and other people do to . Happy New Year! subby Connie Murphy :)
My daughter who is is a hair dresser said that if I let my hair grow out it would not look age appropriate. Well, my hair is down to my waist and everyone likes it when I fix it up. She also told me not to go grey, so I let I let it grow out. It is very little around my face and it is almost a blonde color so it makes up for the bleaching she would do to make my hair have blonde streaks. It doesn't look that much different. If I have any regrets it is that I don't have enough grey hair. It is only around my face and the rest is all dark brown which I don't like. Genetically, I think this is what I am stuck with. But no more maintenance is my biggest joy.
"She also told me not to go grey, so I let it grow out." This is PRICELESS! I was also told that I didn't have enough gray to go gray, and I finally decided that I would be the one to determine how much gray would be enough! Good for you!
@@grayawhile She was trying to give me good advise, her objection is that when women expose their grey, it make s them look older. In my cause I am 76, so I am not fooling anyone, I am old. So I might as well have my grey. And the one hairstyle this screams "old" is the bubble cut all over the head in little curls. Nope. I have grown my hair down to my waist. Granted not every one can do that, but even though it is fine , I have a lot of it so my head of hair is full.. My hair used to be blonde as a child and I kept up with the streaking of blonde in my hair that honestly looks like the grey I have. Since there isn't much grey it isn't overpowering. I rather like it.
@@cellgrrlmy mum had quite masculine, short spiky hair for all her adult life. Then, she suddenly stopped dying it and let it grow. Down to her waist! That was in 2020. Now, she's 79 and has long white and dark-blonde hair. It looks amazing! She doesn't wear makeup and never wears skirts or dresses so this is very feminine for her. Very positive, in fact.

And me! One of the best decisions of my life was to go natural...not much grey yet (mainly around the face) but it will come and that will be fine.

You just might! The older generation was subjected to a lot more toxic advertising, and it's tough to deconstruct that for sure!

It's such an exciting journey! And there are so many ways to do it! I didn't have the guts to go short. It's just an amazing hair color!
Just started 2 months ago. I gain so much inspiration from watching these videos because I know it’s gonna get tough.
You're gonna rock it! Just hold on tight it's a great ride! I'm here to help!

If and when you're ready, you'll know.
I'm 37 and I'm sick of dyeing my hair... I think I have 40% gray hair (as my natural color) and I'm ready to check it out 😃

It might mean your are peri-menopausal. That will make your hair fall out and break.

I like my grey hair but people don't...I don't care about it.
When you get old you may not think all this.
