Does the mousse make haor crunchy?
No! You scrunch it out!!
My children think I look strange with greys coming in. Plus, it is not coming in the way I like.
🖤🩶🤍
Doing it for the fourth time again! I’m sticking to it this time I really missed it!
I did 15 x LOL :)
@ oh good I just knew I was going to stick with it last time! 😂😂
Yes I also hate the orange ends! Looks so cheap and awful and it’s very damaged I may have to cut it off in the end 😅
I see some similarities between the curly girl movement and the going gray trend. Both trends started as a kind of back to nature styles, before 😢they got turned into massive product dependent highly commercialized consumer things with a zillion products and complicated routines. Both trends threatened to take revenue away from the industry but now are creating even bigger profits. You're a voice of reason and I'm very thankful for your videos❤
Your hair is gorgeous and I see that hopefully as my end result. I am nearly 8 months from dyed black waist length hair and now have grey on top black mids and orangy ends. Please elaborate more on your grey blending. Did it damage your ends? I do not want breakage and I do not trust hairdressers anymore. I want to go cold turkey but the orangy ends.🥰😗please help
What products did you use to get your hair to the color you have in the video?
Now,this is my situation am 40 yrs,I went through so many life situations and am just finishing my Bachelor's degree, with all this grey hair! I got tired of hair dye because my hair grows so much that in only three wks the strands are all out seen. I chose to accept going grey that stress over hiding it! Next year am proceeding for Masters class,am still wondering how I will be appearing like! The strength I have is I've seen many young ladies grey at 28yrs,so no more denial! It's what it is,grey hair, period!
thanks for helping me get thru. hoping I will go whole turkey with my long hair . will see.
9 1/2 months but my ends are still brown
LOVE the waves on you! Your hair is just so extremely beautiful, Lynn!! I love the color and how thick, healthy and shiny it is! You must get compliments galore everywhere you go! Total Princess Hair! 👑💕
Cute video! You got so many great shots! 🏰✨ Your hair looked like Disney Princess hair in every shot to me! Disney needs to add some silver beauties to their stories!
Henna made me feel old, because it was so exhausting!! 🤣 For brown hair, I first had to dye the roots with pure henna (making sure I remembered to mix it up the night before), and after that several hour long process, and getting in the shower to let it all wash out, I then could mix up and use Indigo, and let is also sit for several hours. It did work really, really well though. Indigo sticks much better when the hair has already been dyed with henna. The indigo never faded from my hair, and it stayed a cool, dark brown, with no orange, red or brassiness until it grew out! This actually just gave me the idea to maybe do this again on my current hair, which is dyed with a henna semi-permanent, because the semi-permanent fades & goes brassy quickly, and the henna would keep a cool brown shade at the bottom and would look much better with my gray grow out once it gets longer. I'm also thinking of using Overton though, because the semi-permanent will get really light in color where my grays are, and it might look good to then go over the light colors with Overtone in one of their grays shades (or maybe Espresso). I guess I'll figure it out when I get there! For now, I'm in the headband phrase of the growout--soon to graduate to wide headbands!
I understand so much of what you're saying!! This may or may not be helpful, but for me, the pandemic awakened the belief that I feel we're seeing the biblical end times prophecies all coming together like never before. That puts all of this into perspective for me. I've heard from other Christians who believe we're in the last days that "Things aren't falling apart, they're falling into place." I truly believe Jesus is coming back very soon. I also think there's a lot of bad things going around that affect our health (I believe a good majority of the conspiracies, haha!), and sadly, many were harmed during the pandemic by the virus, etc. I hear you too on needing to make changes, and while I'm not normally one to worry, I have been feeling some fear/anxiety about the future, which is not a fun feeling, but I always remind myself that the Bible literally says worry is a sin, and that I'm to rely on God for my needs. But, I do need to make some changes this year, so I've been spending a lot of time in prayer over that! Oh, I've been more tired and brain-foggy lately, and you're right, I don't want to be in a zombie state either, but I often am, ha! I also think we just live in a really weird society currently--there's so much evil happening, it's harder to be healthy, and technology/social media can be very toxic (except for channels like yours, which I find so uplifting and helpful!)--not to mention AI! Things are changing in our world at a rapid pace, and not for the better, and I think we're all feeling it! You're definitely not alone in feeling this way! I appreciate your channel and thoughts soooo much! 💕 Not only are you funny, but you share great advice, and you're a really genuine, insightful person. You are inspiring me on my gray hair grow out! Okay, off to watch more of your videos now, hehe!
For me, those first few months were the hardest because I felt like I just looked sloppy and lazy about keeping up with my color maintenance. Once I had 2-3" of new gray hair growth, then I felt like it looked intentional, and that people who saw it would realize that I was doing this on purpose. It got easier (easiER, not easy--never "easy", I'm just being honest) AFTER that. It took 25 months until I was able to cut off the last of that old color (I wear my hair just a bit below chin-length) but I am very glad I slogged through and am now on the other side.
Its such a process but It's so worth it!!!
you don't know me!
Girl, I've got to share something with you that I know you'll love! I did just a few minutes of research out of curiosity and found that in the Victorian Times, before hair color was readily available, and before all the marketing for it came out, gray hair possibly wasn't seen as ugly, as noted from this a newspaper clip from 1910, _"...many a woman finds white hair her crowning glory." If you 🔍 that exact phrase, you'll find the article! It might make a fun video! 🥰 Oh! I also kind of think of us Silver Sisters as the modern-day flappers. They totally rebelled against the modern-day beauty standards just like we're doing! 🙌
Ha! I have a video around here somewhere about this!!!
@@grayawhile Oh fun! I’ll look for it!! 😊
Gorgeous
I love your grey hair. You’re noticeable, unique, and no plain Jane. It gives you character and sets you apart.
Aww thank you!! This means a lot!!
after you do one pass, does your hair feel dry or damp? i guess in my mind with steam, your hair will feel a little damp afterwards
No it's crazy it evaporates instantly.
Wow!!! You have an entire wardrobe of tools and products! Honored to be among the products now in your rotation! 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
Silverist hair care is simply the best thing that's happened to silver sisters in a long time! I'm doing a full video on the whole line!
@ Thank you so much! 🫶 That would be so amazing!
Please do a review for your light gray … thank you
I love your channel so much, Lynn!! It’s one of my very favorites. You and a few others are keeping me so excited and inspired, and I’m so happy I’ll have your channel for support as I go through this journey (only 4 weeks in!)!! 🩶🩶
So your hair is damp when you are using the tools?
No completely dry just with heat protectant
I had no idea there’s all these better tools now and I’m still using my regular blow dryer and flat iron. But I’m going to get one of those straightening combs and a better dryer since I don’t want to have damaged grey as it grows longer. Thanks for showing us better tools. ☺️
You're welcome! Make sure you use a good heat protectant too!
It's interesting because your straight hair look is very sleek and your wavy look is very natural and almost under styled. I've tried this wavy routine but found that for myself, I prefer a sleeker wavy style (which requires using a lot more gel and a brush rather than a comb) in order to do away with my frizz. I do love your luxurious, long tresses though!
I try not to over style my wavy hair. I don't like the products feeling I get
@@grayawhile Perhaps because my coarse hair is high porosity, I don't actually feel product on my hair. On the contrary, it feels softer, and more manageable. My son's fine curly hair, on the other hand, can't take more than a small amount before it looks greasy, especially on the 2nd day.
Thank you, Lynn!! I’m super curious to try out the steam one! It’s on my list! 😊
I know! It's changed my hair game and it doesn't fry my hair!
And you are just a pretty princess, lady! Well done.
I smoke but I don't have yellowish hair .
thats a lot of tools and work but it turnes out very pretty
lol I tried them all so you don't have to!!
I use the wavy talk and skip my very ends...then just use my dyson airwrap just on the ends and it's pure magic with way less damage. My frizzy curly hair looks and feels amazing....I don't know what sorcery is in that steam straightener😅
I was so skeptical about STEAM! oooh and I want a Dyson so bad. Is it worth the hype?
@grayawhile honestly I like it, but for the price it still didn't make me stop using other tools...if they had added the airstrait as an included attachment, yes. I hear lots love the shark version that has all the attachments better
Not everyone who goes grey is going to be as stunning as you. No matter how our hair is styled. I love my grey bum length hair. But next to you id look like an old hag. Im 60 i love my hair
Shes a beautiful lady and doesnt look old. Sure not your style but she looks lovely
You're beautiful 😍 ❤ love your hair its so healthy and gorgeous
….ok lady…
It only matters if you are controlled by what other people say!
Sadly many people are
Finally! A wavy hair tutorial that doesn't use a diffuser or whatever!
lol I loathe diffusing!
I agree with you. I receive more ‘criticism’ or receive negative attention from women/women friends than I do anyone else. Sometimes it annoys me but I love feeling free. I disliked dyeing my hair before and I would only choose to dye it to avoid the negative comments or attention, however I love the freedom and knowing that I am not putting extra chemicals on my body and I am saving money by not dyeing on going to the salon to have colour done. I personally like seeing myself authentically me at my age as I am right now. I am 44 and stopped dyeing my hair for almost a year or so.
The real freedom is not giving a cr@p about what other people think! 🥰
Bring it on! I need them tips.. mine is graying and wavy and in transition...whatever that means
This made me feel better. Ill just meep touching up my white roots.i do it myself home snd its not hard to do
While we grow out our grays for ourselves, it's comforting and true that oftentimes those people who were negative about the grow-out become big fans of the natural silver look when it's fully grown out 🤍🤘
When my hair is re-healthy-ized; coming soon; I will resume dying it it's natural haircolor. I am a redhead, & without the visible evidence, I've no apparent excuse for my William Wallace vibes. (The real reason is that I'm actually descended from the bloodline. But people won't know that.) My only other option is to stop acting insane, & I'm just not ready to do that!
I will say that people have been extremely forgiving with the crazy gray haired lady vibe
Love these!! ❤🎉🎉
I recommend blue shampoo and conditioner instead of purple if you look better or prefer cool tones, as purple can look more beige, on some people.
I went 11 months .I'm starting over for the 3 rd time. I'm so mad at my self. I would have been almost completely by now.
I have been sick for over 2 years now, with no real answers. I've been told by many specialists that I have everything from leukemia, multiple myeloma, or lymphoma. I've been told pulmonary fibrosis (5 year life expectancy). I still have no real answers, however. But I've always ADORED grey hair. It's a privilege denied to many. I'm dyeing my hair grey in a few weeks. I want to make sure I get to experience it, just in case. If you have grey/silver/white hair, EMBRACE IT! It's stunningly beautiful.
HEY LADIES! Easy- peasy way to go grey gradually and in secret: a hair topper!!! Just a little clip in solves ALL our problems! They have them in real human hair and if you get one that matches well, no one can even tell you're wearing one! 😊 * Be sure to match not only the color ( you can color them to match your own hair color) but the texture as well. They make them in different density ( ie: 100, 120, 130 %- thicker vs thinner hair.) also match up to straight, curly, etc. You can curl them to match your own curls. Best thing I've found while growing out my grey hair. So easy, and easier on your hair, too. Good luck!
That's a great idea! I also have a recent video about wearing wigs! So fun!
Can i use overtone after my Demi color wears off/washes out? How long do i wait, before using the overtone? Do I refer to the color wheel for color correction? I use neutral and Gold tones, now. Would it work better with Ash or beige tones? Does anyone know? Just beginning my grey transition journey. My hair is white in front, silver on top and salt and pepper everywhere else. There's so much information to learn in order to not end up with green, brassy or whatever color hair! I definitely need to do this at home, due to cost. Simply cannot afford a salon! LoL!! THANKS!
Don't forget to try blue shampoo on the orange ends when they make their inevitable appearance
On this post, how about adding a professional colour analysis into your delivery of going grey. As You know, Grey comes in MANY tones AND undertones. Hence, how about introducing colour analysis for the many shades of grey and what make-up AND colour clothing look amazing and get looks and compliments head to toe.
Oh, I need to find a professional color analyst!
I’ve always thought grey and white hair is beautiful. Me and my fiancé both are going to let it grow naturally. I think aging naturally is such a beautiful thing, and it’s so shamed on now days. Keep it up! Thank you for a breath of fresh air on this topic lol.
I totally agree!
