Honorable Mentions: *The Icon Of Sin - DOOM Eternal -First, destroy the armor, then, destroy parts of its body. All the while, hordes of enemies are rushing you from every nook and cranny and the Icon is attacking from the edge of the arena. All this going on at once means you have to keep moving, making for a very frantic fight. *Mundas - Devil May Cry -Starting off with a battle in the skies followed by a stand off in hell. And he has the nerve to activate a self-destruct after the fight and show up during our escape. *Emporer Doviculous - Brutal Legend -A stage battle where you need to bring down the heads of the giant monster Doviculous summons and drive the car through it's eyes leading to a final stand with the Emporer himself. All the while, Painkiller by Judas Priest plays in the latter phase.
Brutal legend was a much cooler game than people gave it credit for. I loved replaying the game and even just driving around the map, doing random stuff while listening to metal
Very much appreciated to see somebody mention Doviculus! He and the Tainted Coil are among the most stand-out demon characters and factions i've come across in video games. I personally am quite a fan of Samael from the Darksiders series too.
It's also worth mentioning that many of Rogueport's civilians report that just entering the room where the Thousand-Year Door stands brings them an intense sense of unease, dissuading them from investigating further.
Spoilers about Manus after Dark Souls 1 Something that goes unmentioned about Manus: In Dark Souls 2, his influence is so strong that upon his defeat by the Chosen Undead in DS1, his essence divided itself into 4 maidens that sought out kings whose kingdoms they could harvest for souls, one of them is one of the final bosses, the other 3 being tied to the respective DLC's of DS2. Manus is a beast!
Not to mention that he is heavily implied to be the Furtive Pygmy, the inheritor of the Dark Soul and ancestor of all of humanity, as well as the humanity sprites.
Sucks that the DLC areas added were pains in the ass with such huge damage sponge common enemies with crap hit boxes. And this is coming from a guy who likes and says DS2 gets too much hate. And I mean it's a shame, because THAT LORE IS FUCKING AWESOME! It kind of reminds me of the Three Queens from Irish Celtic myth, with their three champions to fight: one a terror to her kingdom, one a king she mourns, and another a knight she tricked into betraying his king. And a fourth that uses the player like a puppet to lead to the kiln. God that lore is so cool!!!
So here's an idea; you've had dragons and now demons, but how about to counter them, how about you cover their eternal adversaries; the knights? I imagine that Meta Knight and Shovel Knight could score well on such a list; they are very honorable warriors and epic fighters, to be sure. Of course, I usually don't play a lot of fantasy games with knights in them, so I'd love to see what other brave and gallant knights exist in gaming. Edit: I know that there are better opposites for demons than knights, which is why I mentioned how has covered both demons AND dragons. I admit that it was not the best transition to request a video on knights, but I want to see a video on knights. I just finished Kirby & the Forgotten Land recently, and that game reminded me how AWESOME Meta Knight is, and I want Josh to sing his well-deserved praises, because we all know that he'd likely rank high on a list of video game knights, whether as just a knight in general or as a knight boss.
Crazy how Josh's feelings on Okami have evolved and sometimes have stayed the same after all these years. If he gets 200K subs maybe I will see his next journey through the game.
@@Foxgearstudios One of the reasons is the recycling of some bosses like Orochi, the Spider Queen and all the rematches in the Ark of Yamato. I may have liked the game and even finished it before, but I will admit that it's quite a blemish.
Yess! Oersted/Odio is one of the most tragic heroes/final bosses/main villains ever. (Some minor spoilers below) He was done dirty by almost everyone around him, and the ones who remained true friends all ended up dead. Boy tried so hard to do the right thing but got screwed over by a bunch of unfaithful nitwits and a jealous dirtbag.
I expected Odio in this list and I was not dissapointed. But not about him being in the first place. Live a Live needs more love, especially given that it was released on Nintendo Switch this year.
I mean devils are usually out to make something of themselves, be it being an overlord or rulling earth. To be able to be truly dangerous they must have a code to live by. Honestly that makes them more terrorfoying at times.
A good rule of thumb for me is that lawful can also be considered as the "has a plan or reason" for what it does alignment while it's inverse chaotic is the "does it because it feels good" alignment. Lawful evil: take over the world (lex luthor) Chaotic evil: destroy the world or just kill everything on it, cus fuck it (joker) But that's just me, everybody has their own way to spin something.
Man I was expecting Bobby Kotick from Blizzard to get number one on this list... Also would love to see a top ten about clone or mirror boss fights where you face off against someone who is familiar to your playstyle in some way.
I just *K N E W* that Odio from LIVEAƎVI⅃ would be here. Like, the remake not only gave the Purity fight justice, but added an amazing Sin fight for the True Ending that has one of the best endings ever. I beat him with Oboromaru, Lei, Akira, and Masaru as the primary party.
Lol imagine using Akira (the worst character gameplay wise) and not Sundown lmao. Also not using Pogo is a sin Sundown and Pogo are the best characters in the game gameplay-wise bar none.
@@krimsonkattYeah, I didn't know he was the Joke Character of the eight player characters at the time, but I did use him as a healer. I'm thinking of having the three I didn't use in the final battle be in my party for a replay. Still, it was funny hearing Akira swearing half the time against Purity of Odio.
Shadow Queen isn't a superboss, she's the final boss. The superboss from that game is Bonetail, and is the only superboss in the paper Mario series. (especially since only the first two games are true RPGs) Plus Shadow Queen is only so long because the "getting everyone's help" cutscene is over 20 minutes long. Fun fact, did you know you can skip cutscenes in TTYD? You just need a super complex button combination and you're golden. There are way longer bosses including ones that made the list like Yeizmat from FFXII, Absolute Virtue + Pandemonium Warden from FFXI, and Nyx Avatar from Persona 3.
I CAN I MUST I WILL!!!!! Seriously that final moment where Osterd finaly brakes free is so powerful Also I'm looking forward to the Devils List along with hoping for a God list and yes I am expecting Lucifer from SMT Nocturne and YHVH from 4 apocalypse to be on those 2
100% I expect both of them to be on those lists maybe even as #1. Both of those fights are amazing. Zanza should definitely be on the gods list as well as Chakravarta from Asura's Wrath.
It's funny when bringing up Gaismagorm because as Malzeno is based off of vampires, Gaismagorm is based off of the devil. It's even in its relationship with Malzeno as how Dracula got his powers by making a deal with the Devil the same as how Malzeno got its powers from Gaismagorm trying to absorb all life for itself by hijacking the same Qurios Gaismagorm uses.
@@krimsonkatt look up the one reborn from Bloodborne, the alien queen from echo the dolphin, or monster ock from spiderman the video game and tell if they are scary if not scarier than dead hand.
@@MacNava Alien Queen from Echo is scary but not scarier than Dead Hand. Haven't played Bloodborne but I'm pretty sure that game doesn't count as it's like at least partially a horror game. Plus the game is so freaking dark that all the enemies just appear like shadow blobs and therefore aren't as scary. Nothing in a spiderman game is scary I'll tell you that. There's no way DOCTOR OCTOPUS is scarier than Dead Hand. Edit: Just looked up Monster Ock and he's not scary at all! More silly than scary. You obviously haven't played the Gold Box version of OoT and/or read the lore. It's insanely disturbing. Have no idea how they got away with those things in a E rated game. Later prints of the N64 version (which all ports used as a base) as well as the 3DS version were significantly censored, Deadhand being one of the main victims.
After that intro I'm excited for this list: 10. Well it figures Dark souls would be first. 9. My first Sonic final boss. A shame the HD fight sucks compared to the Wii one. 8. I was going to go with my rule of three joke but with Giratina I'll let it slide. 7. Well never thought a game this old could have a good fight. I think I need to get out more... 6. No Zelda entry :( 5. Ah a sunbreak entry that doesn't involve the vampire dragon. I am interested. 4. Yeah I'm with you, we need another gauntlet legends game 3. While Yami is cool I'm still upset at the lack of Zelda... I guess Ganon only rocks as a villain to you... Let's give him 40K subs people! 2. Well this lady certainly deserves this spot... 1. Perfect choice! Finished this game recently and it fits the choice Also it's odd that the opening and closing were mute...
I knew it, I just _knew_ a certain Lord of Dark would be on this list. Just in time for me to start heading towards my completion of Live A Live, too! (About to head into the Distant Future chapter rn. Super excited, and _heavily_ anticipating the madness that comes next.)
@@theautisticintrovertedluca3634 Well, ignoring that this is just Josh’s personal list.(not to be sounding negative to you or anything of that tone, just that this is a very opinionated list) Giratina is supposed to be based on the devil with the 6 wings, 6 legs, & 6 ribs and was created by Arceus, who’s supposed to be based on God. & both his Altered & Origin Forms are based off of the Beasts of Revelation(which are described as demonic beings). Doesn’t help that the Pokédex for him says “It was banished for its violence. It silently gazed upon the old world from the Distortion World”. So, I do believe that Giratina is a Demonic creature, and it’s also in the colors, Grey, Black, Gold, & Red create this very uneasy look to him. & that he is summoned by Cyrus, which depicted it as a very creepy, black figure with only it’s mouth, claws, & piercing, red eyes being the only things visible.
@@theautisticintrovertedluca3634 Legends Arceus Giratina is definitely a demon by being Chaotic Evil in that. Pokemon Platinum Giratina a Lawful Evil devil.
I was expecting some form of Dark Matter/Zero/Void from Kirby to be on this list. Though I suppose it is more Eldritch than Demonic. Looking forward to that Countdown, as well as the one for Devils.
Huh; that "Giratina chose to protect Hisui" actually explains why he showed up in Platinum to stop Cyrus and drag him to the Distortion World. *Giratina was protecting Sinnoh/Hisui from Cyrus*. And then we went and captured it for doing so.
Joshscorcher said that Cyrus was antagonizing Giratina, but when Cyrus saw Giratina, he wasn’t expecting to encounter another member of the Creation Trio. Like Giratina is one of the few Mascot Legendaries that isn’t a major factor in the villain team’s plans, with Rayquaza not being part of Team Magma and Team Aqua’s plans in Emerald, Zygarde not being a part of Team Flare’s plans in X and Y, the Light Trio not being a part of Team Skull’s plans in the Alola games, with Necrozma being a truly evil Pokemon, the Legendary Heroes and Eternatus not being part of Team Yell’s plans and the Paradox Duo not being part of Team Star’s plans.
From the depth, its voice can be heard. "The time has come." From the depth, it beckons: "Come to me!" As it feeds on stolen life, its power grows ever stronger. Until it finally reveals itself. *Abyssal Archdemon, Gaismagorm* - Fiorayne, Second-in-command of the Knights of the Royal Order
I love how during the number one spot, someone called Century Nerd was just complaining and whining how it made the top spot, making it hilarious to see him pissed
There's actually some benefit to replaying Okami after beating it the first time. If you do things well you have access to a lot more earlier on which opens up new avenues through the game. Plus there's new aesthetics so you can "technically" play as not just amaterasu but other versions of her and even Shiranui in the way that the villagers see you.
Adramahlihk from Divinity 2 Original Sin. Though called an archdemon does seems to act more like a devil in regards to the D&D definition. Lots about him that are terrifying. The corruption of Bloodmoon Island, its scheming and possessing of a number of characters in the entire series (apparently he has been a constant issue since the first game), attempting to become the divine, and too many other things to mention from this game. Like just the implications of everything he’s done from details in demon-infested locations is chilling. The fight with him is so hard that there’s a side quest in the game that allows you to start the fight with him being at 50% less health.
@@Oxman7077 I know right, and the fact your best chance in beating her was to throw the fire shards at her instead of using Ruby's ranged spells lol plus the music is haunting
@@rockowlgamer631 what I did that ended up working was hiding behind a pillar and peppering her with shots from Xiaos slingshot with a fire attribute until the shield was gone and then switching to Ruby to throw a fully charged Fire Atrribute spell and then switch back to Xiao to rinse and reoear until all 1000 of her HP was gone
I think Malefor also fits here, not only for committing such horrible actions before being exiled, and not only for trying to destroy the world, but also for raising an army of apes that cause so much chaos (one of which was the raid on the temple that ended with kidnapping Cynder’s egg and killing the rest of the baby dragons before they’re even born), and for corrupting Cynder to become an evil companion to him.
Here’s the top 10 list I’d love to see somebody try to tackle: Top 10 “Greater good“ type villains. Those manipulators, The villains that believe that they’re doing good. They’re usually the most insidious, and the most dangerous because they can convince random people to do the dirty work for them. That they’re doing what’s best for everyone, win in truth they’re just throwing a bunch of bodies onto a pyre whether it’s to create a new order or protect the status quo. (Extra points in the list if the villain truly believes in their rhetoric.)
@@s.p.d.magentaranger1822 Edelgard isn't really a villain, more like antihero/antagonist depending on the route. And in Three Hopes she's way better and actually feels like a protagonist instead of a deeply flawed morally grey protagonist/antagonist who makes some REALLY dumb decisions. Basically to compare Three Hopes and There Houses Edelgard: Houses -Commits genoside on an entire endangered race. -Teams up with the people who ruined her life, killed her siblings, and tortured and killed many of her friends. -Glorifies a serial killer tyrant and makes her champion into said serial killer tyrant's successor. -Desecrates a holy tomb and steals the bones of hearts of children to make weapons. Hopes -Gets rid of the terrorists who ruined her life ASAP -Doesn't commit multiple war crimes, and does everything in her power to spare her enemies if possible -Her route has the least garenteed deaths (two, being Ingrid and Gustav both who are hated by the fanbase) and the most possible recruits. -Her route is the only route where both Ashe and his dad (Lonato) both live. Literally the only bad things Edelgard did in hopes is frame the central church unfairly based on lies and half truths (which she also did in Houses) and make Count Varley (the biggest scumbag in Fodlan) the new leader of the church, though luckily that can be redeemed if you let Count Varley die in the final chapter so he can be replaced with Mercedes or Marianne. (both who are recruitable in CF)
@@krimsonkatt Honestly, it's up to interpretation, one side may argue she's a hero, the other a villain, she was just the first figure that came to mind.
If I could add one honorable mention, it would be Lucifer from Shin Megami Tensei. It's literally a franchise about demons-you'd have to expect Lucy to show up at some point. In terms of correlation to the term "demon bosses", I'd recommend his fight in SMT Nocturne, but the one from SMT V is also noteworthy in its own right.
I think Lucifer will end up on Josh's Devils List. You just wait. If Lucifer from Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne does not make the Honorable Mentions, let alone his Divils List proper... Well, he included the Matador Fight from Nocturne in Difficulty Spike Bosses List, so he'd better include it in the Devils List.
My pick would go to Mortamor from Dragon Quest 6. You never directly see him until the final battle, but you do feel his presence as he is responsible for the four most powerful demons in both the real and dream world. He was so dangerous that a king tried to summon an eldritch abomination to get rid of him only for it to refuse to listen and destroy his entire castle. He's also made a separate world that is affecting the other two where he tortures their inhabitants by draining their power in order to make them succumb to despair, having them kill each other over a nonexistent treasure and imprisoning them. Even after you save the people in the prison, he retaliates by turning them to stone. And that's not even all of it, because the Great Sage Isaac's younger brother is kept in the same prison's maximum security cell. He's there because Mortamor and his minions want to corrupt Isaac by trapping him in his own mind and gaslighting him with a vision of his brother being executed vía guillotine. He manages to push through the pain it causes him even though he doesn't know his brother is ok, but he's "rewarded" for his iron will by being shown that vision over and over again as Mortamor's minions gleefully tell him that he killed his brother by doing nothing. By the time the main party came with the brother to snap Isaac out of it, the Sage was on the verge of giving up. After you rescue Isaac, you can finally enter Mortamor's lair to fight him once and for all. He appears in the shape of and old wizard and has orbs that can't be targeted that launch spells and breath attacks. After you destroy his body, you hear his voice as (in the DS version, the original just had him fuse with the orbs) his true demonic form emerges from nothing and absorbs the two orbs. He now has access to more brute strength as well as high defense, which he can put to good use by ramming into you on top of still having a wide range of spells. After you defeat him once again, he threatens to take you with him as (again in the DS version) his true form disintigrates... Only for a pair of claws to tear through the sky as the head emerges with them. This time, all three are separate targets. In fact, you have to destroy all of them or risk one of the claws reviving the others with half of their max HP. One last neat little detail is that you can actually summon the previously mentioned eldritch abomination, also known as Nokturnus. He's the game's superboss and if you defeat him fast enough he'll do what he was summoned to do, wipe the floor with Mortamor and then peace out.
@35:12- "Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom!" Lol, anyone get that reference? And yes I read the description, this was just too perfect lol.
Y’know, Eggman’s plan using Dark Gaia to make a themepark becomes hilarious when you realise the backstory to the Nemesis roller coaster at Alton Towers is basically a Roller Coaster built on top of an Alien cosmic horror monster
Correction: Manus is not a demon. He's a pygmi. The sorcerers of Oolacile found him buried in a deep crevice and started experimenting on him. That's where the dark sorceries come from. Their experimentation on him is what ended up turning him into what you fight. He is the one that is corrupted, and his humanity is what exploded outward to create the abyss in the city. Artorias, unfortunately, was just a hero who got caught up in it all and horrifically failed in his given task of purging it all.
I didn't know about the whole devils is lawful evil while demons are chaotic evil. Anyways, glad to see Dark Gaia, Giratina, and Shadow Queen represented. Other demons I liked are Majora's Mask, The Marauder, and Dark Matter.
It feels weird to see Manus on this list when he's from a series that has an entire civilization built around demons, and he's a creation of the abyss which is something else. As for big bad? He's more of a victim than anything; a man long since dead whose rest has been disturbed, his humanity lashing out, writhing and expanding. Killing him is as good for him as it is for Oolacile, a mercy. As for demons themselves... Bed of Chaos has the best lore, while the Demon Princes has the best fight. Could go even further and go with the Burnt Ivory King possessed by Chaos.
A good honourable mention would be Chaos from the Castlevania Series. Even if he appears in only one game (That being Aria of Sorrow), he is responsible for the constant resurrections of Dracula, as well as the endless battle between the dark lord and the Belmonts. Battling him in Aria is also symbolic because it is Soma fighting against his own fate of becoming the next incarnate of Dracula, and Chaos not only represents Soma's inner darkness, but the entire chaotic realm and force of evil that has proceeded across the entire franchise.
Definitely agree that Chaos from Castlevania should definitely be at least mentioned. Chaos is very obviously the greater scope villain of the entire series and the force behind everything. Heck, if you look into the lore a bit Dracula himself is actually a tragic villain and is quite relatable and even somewhat sympathetic, unlike Chaos who is darkness and sin incarnate. A force of nature and the true opposite of God rather than an actual character. Too bad his fight kinda sucks tho. I'm glad Soma/Mathias and Mina/Lisa/Elizabeth can finally get a happy ending after DoS. He's earned it after nearly 1000 years of suffering in darkness.
@@passing2010 Yes, but the entire plot of Castlevania from beginning to end was planned from the beginning, arguably since the third game on NES Dracula's Curse. Symphony of the Night is only around halfway through the timeline, so a lot of stuff happened before that game. As for the timeline: Era of the Beginning 1016: Lament of Innocence (Mathias becomes Dracula) 1218: Dracula's Curse (Netflix S1-S2 also works. S3 is an AU/fanfiction and not canon to the story) 1219: Curse of Darkness (direct sequel to Dracula's Curse) Era of the Eternal War 1318: Castlevania: The Adventure/Adventure Rebirth 1320: Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge (direct sequent to Adventure/Adventure Rebirth) 1418: Castlevania/Vampire Killer/Haunted Castle/Castlevania Chronicles/Super Castlevania IV (the first game that was remade FOUR TIMES and the one with Simon Belmont. The NES version is the "most canon" of all the versions.) 1419: Castlevania II: Dracula's Curse (Direct sequel to Castlevania 1. Good ending is the canon one.) 1469: Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance (sequel to Dracula's Curse featuring Simon's grandson Juste.) 1518: Castlevania Rondo of Blood (The Dracula X adaptation on SNES is non-canon) 1523: Castlevania Symphony of the Night (sequel to Random of Blood) Era Without a Belmont 1600: Castlevania Circle of the Moon (Konami says it's non canon but it doesn't contradict anything in the timeline so...) 1618: Castlevania Order of Ecclesia 1708: Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness (prequel to Castlevania 64. Konami says it's non canon but like CotM it doesn't contradict canon and the MC shows up in crossover games) 1718: Castlevania 64 (Konami says it's non canon but once again it doesn't contradict anything in canon, fills up an empty segment of the timeline, and vaguely foreshadows Soma Cruz) 1910: Castlevania Bloodlines 1944: Castlevania Portrait of Ruin (Sequel to Castlevania Bloodlines featuring the children of the protags from that game. The same game in the timeline before 1999) 1999: Castlevania Eclipse of Sorrow (Cancelled 3DS igavania game and the last planned game in the series. Dracula dies for good in this one. It was cancelled in favor of making Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate instead built off it's engine but the Lords of Shadow reboot failed and the whole series was cancelled soon after due to Konami leaving the games industry to pursue gambling instead) 2035: Castlevania Aria of Sorrow 2036: Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow (final game in the timeline and direct sequel to Aria of Sorrow. Mathias/Soma's story ends here but there is still a possibility of a new dark lord rising in the far future once Soma is long gone...) Non Canon Games -Kid Dracula 1&2. They're just silly gag/parody games and not meant to be taken seriously. Though elements of them HAVE appeared in the series namely in Symphony of the Night with it's main superboss. -Castlevania Judgement: A non canon crossover fighting game involving heavy time travel and wild redesigns and personality changes for all the characters. Obviously non canon. -Castlevania Legend: The 3rd Castlevania game on Game Boy that was originally meant to be a prequel to Castlevania 3. Deeply contradicts the rest of the timeline (Trevor is Dracula's grandson?!) and was retconned out of existance when Lament of Innocence released. -Castlevania Harmony of Despair - A silly multiplayer fanservice crossover dungeon crawler loot-based RPG featuring a large cast of characters and no real story. -All the Panchinko and mobile games/ports: I can't believe this has to be said. Weird Stuff that is probably canon -The Symphony of the Night and Dawn of Sorrow audio dramas that exist as epilogues for both those games. Very arguably canon despite they're obscurity.
I had no idea who was gonna be on here, but then I saw Bendy in the intro. I can definitely understand why he wasn't on the list since his boss fight isn't really that good. Plus, even though he's called The Ink Demon by many, several others call Bendy a "devil", and this is a list for demons. I just hope that one day, Josh talks about Bendy. Maybe in a list about stalkers? Also, Sonic Unleashed is not a poor man's beat-em-up! Give that title to Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric.
Idea for top 10 list: “Top 10 Unexpected Bosses.” Basically, any boss that make you think “WTF?” But ONLY in the cutscene before you fight it or during its spawn animation (if it’s an open world game). Also, because there are different types of “wtf” reactions for different scenarios, you can decide whether it’s a good wtf or a bad one. It doesn’t matter if the fight itself is good, bad, or mediocre. All that matters is if the intro/spawning to said boss made you think “WTF?!”
Wow I was holding off getting live a live but seeing that final boss, I’m tempted to grab it when I next can. Great video as always Josh. Also, the lack of sound on the intro and outro added to the atmosphere. I’d thought you’d left it out on purpose lol
Ngl I was totally expecting Daimon from Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen on the list. He's a boss with a tragic backstory, tough fight, fierce attacks, and a sad but epic theme. He is also motivated to destroy everything after being set up to either kill the dragon that happened to be a former Arisen and mother figure, or the freed pawn of that Arisen that he fell in love with. While his actual destruction spree seems non-existant, his anger and hatred have permeated the entirety of Bitterblack Isle, threatening to unleash death on the world.
Why did Dr. Eggman release Dark Gaia to use his power to build his Eggmanland Theme Park City? Simple, because he wants to, Eggman is insane and dangerous.
Hey, are we finally going to be getting Skorne on a list? He's been a part of the intro for ages and he's never really been covered on the channel, at least to my knowledge.
Also extra info about Gaismagorm thanks to the recent MH digital event. Primordial Malzeno, a new variant is a Malzeno that was never infected by the Qurio, meaning that Gaismagorm did in fact corrupted Malzeno into becoming more aggressive and hungry for blood. Adding more aspects of Gaismagorm’s demonic powers
This is something I did not expect but I'm glad to see this list, my favorite was Gaismagorm I didn't think that Monster Hunter had a demon in it, glad to see it on the list along with Odio seriously this was one amazing countdown.
Is it me or is it weird that there are no bosses on this list from Shin Megami Tensei? You know THE game series that centers around demons and fighting with and against them!
@@kirinbobarcana Toc-Man/Orson in Pacman World Re-Pac. In the Golden Ending, if you find all of Pacman's family members, Orson doesn't ends up being eaten. Instead, he's forgiven by Pacman himself.
As soon as you brought up Gauntlet Dark Legecy, I lost my shit! That game is my damn child hood and I'm so damn happy Skorne made it as far as he did. From his music, to his taunting and manic laugh whenever you missed a crucial item, to the absalute litteral hell he puts you through just to get to him in both the Forsaken Provence and the Underworld. As far as I can tell, this 3 part act is the final charge to put down evil across all the 8 realms, and it feels earned!
I have an idea for a list. A "Nothing left to lose" fight. A final boss fight where the two combatants have literally nothing but their pride left to motivate them. They may have lost family. They may be on the edge of death. But the only thought on their minds is one singular thing: Kill the opposition. I have four examples of this: The final Ryuji Goda fight from Yakuza Kiwami 2, the final Liquid Ocelot fight from Metal Gear Solid 4, 9S Vs. A2 in NieR: Automata, and the Shadowlord fight from the original Nier.
have to say the 9 is more of a primordial than a demon, and 8 is literally one of the incarnations of the pokemon devil , so it feels like neather of them should be on this list
Seriously, Josh even gracing Okami a numbered spot on this countdown is something I never thought he'd do. Sometimes you need some time away from a game to see it in a different light. And maybe some context: It's Hideki Kamiya, after all.
of course the Shadow Queen wants Peach she is the strongest Knigth in Mario RPG Series, and since Oersted fell to hate does that make him a sith that can be redeem if you choose to play as the other characters instead of Oersted
I'm glad to see Diablo being recognized as a Demon Fight (obvious due to how it came to mortal realms, AKA Sanctuary for those who knows, and also how Josh perfectly recaptured the path of the youngest, yet most destructive being in the original 4 acts game) Also, if one wants to know more about the first 2 Diablo Lore, it's worth reading (and actually far more complex than one could think)
I'm surprised that Void Termina from Kirby star allies wasn't at least mentioned in the list. It's such a memorable fight against a world destroyer demon with a lot of lore, a great atmosphere, it plays out incredible, and there is a big mystery about his final form looking like Kirby himself.
Fun thing about the word odio In spanish odio is hatred What happens when you remove the O it becomes dio which is the word for god in spanish considering odio can just snap his fingers and erase existence yeah... Though the vagueness of odio is what intrigues me. Is it the man that makes the hate, is the hate that makes the man. Is the demon king in essence possessive or was it birthed by unimaginable loathing for existence by one man's trauma. None knows but all know his name. Odio, King of demons. Hate itself once one becomes hate itself the moment they truly stop hating.. is the moment they start dying. True tragedy. Now i shall tell people to listen to the karaoke version of megalomania the song that inspired funny skeleton man song. It's lyrics are beautiful.
Odo and Odeo is the other way around. Odo is an incelosaurus-rex who kills females of other tribes because it itself can't mate. The fact that the chapter is themed around love and only females were seen captured by the Kuu Tribe supports this notion. Odeo is powered by thousands of liquefied humans despite the machines only really needing one, and all that effort to farm that many people don't even matter because the boss was intentionally designed to be easy to kill, what with the self-destruct trigger at its back.
Garm never survived Skorne’s slap. His soul was held by Skorne in the underworld, as punishment for assuming that he could control Skorne without the 13th runestone.
Correction about Giratina in Platinum. Cyrus wasn’t antagonizing Giratina Joshscorcher. Giratina came and took Cyrus away because he saw that Cyrus was trying to do what Volo did, and Giratina was protecting the world from Cyrus. In a sense, Giratina was dragging Cyrus to the Distortion World, which is basically Hell. Cyrus was surprised at Giratina’s appearance, as Cyrus only used the Red Chain to summon and capture Dialga and Palkia. Giratina was not something Cyrus was expecting. And I know this because I played Pokemon Platinum.
Yokai Watch is an amazing and underated series I was so sad to see it die due it being fully localized far too late in the 3DS's life. Heck, the third game was one of the last physical 3DS games ever released!
Yeah, we've had a lot of giant hand bosses. And MegaMan is no stranger to that. MegaMan X1 and MegaMan X5 both have the second form of Sigma with giant hands, while in MegaMan Zero, there was the second form of Copy X, and in MegaMan ZX there was the second form of Serpent.
You know, it makes perfect sense the Giratina attacked Cyrus in Platinum if he decided to protect the land after his loss to the chosen of Arceus. Cyrus was threatening to destroy all of Hisui (Now known as Sinnoh) and as a Result, Giratina attacked Cyrus and dragged him to the pokéquivalent of hell
I know this is unrelated, but Arceus is Pronounced Are-Kay-Us, not Are-See-Us. Silvally's RKS System Ability proves this (even then, I will always pronounce it as Are-Key-Us, thanks to the Jewel of Life Movie).
Here's an idea for a Boss Countdown; Top 10 Evil Creation Bosses. Bosses that were seen as experiments and were created by the main antagonist, usually a mad scientist, to be seen as their ultimate weapon for their evil goals.
I kind of wished there was some bosses from the Darksiders series in the list there's a ton of demon bosses from the four games that would have been perfect for this list. To name a few : 1). The Destroyer 2). Envy 3) Absalom 4) Samual

I still enjoyed the video. Great job to you and everyone who worked on it.
Honorable Mentions:
*The Icon Of Sin - DOOM Eternal
-First, destroy the armor, then, destroy parts of its body. All the while, hordes of enemies are rushing you from every nook and cranny and the Icon is attacking from the edge of the arena. All this going on at once means you have to keep moving, making for a very frantic fight.
*Mundas - Devil May Cry
-Starting off with a battle in the skies followed by a stand off in hell. And he has the nerve to activate a self-destruct after the fight and show up during our escape.
*Emporer Doviculous - Brutal Legend
-A stage battle where you need to bring down the heads of the giant monster Doviculous summons and drive the car through it's eyes leading to a final stand with the Emporer himself. All the while, Painkiller by Judas Priest plays in the latter phase.
It's actually spelled Mundus, but good effort anyway.
Brutal legend was a much cooler game than people gave it credit for. I loved replaying the game and even just driving around the map, doing random stuff while listening to metal
Might be covered on the mentioned Devils list.
Spoilers about Manus after Dark Souls 1
Something that goes unmentioned about Manus: In Dark Souls 2, his influence is so strong that upon his defeat by the Chosen Undead in DS1, his essence divided itself into 4 maidens that sought out kings whose kingdoms they could harvest for souls, one of them is one of the final bosses, the other 3 being tied to the respective DLC's of DS2.
Considering he pulled out a Bible at the end, we might get the Demon's counter.
Honestly, he could do top 10 witch bosses as well.
Man, what I wouldn’t give to see the Black Knight boss from Scooby-Doo: Night of 100 Frights on that list, lol.

I've been starving to work on the Odio entry since we managed to get you to talk about Oersted. So happy to see it finally come to light.
I'm so happy too; Oersted/Odio is SUCH an amazing villain, and the remake does him justice.
@@falconpunch19 But is he better than the likes of Consul N?
Yess! Oersted/Odio is one of the most tragic heroes/final bosses/main villains ever.

Live a Live needs more love, especially given that it was released on Nintendo Switch this year.
Until now, I never thought of Devils being “Lawful Evil” but hey, you learn something new everyday.
Honestly it makes sense. They still have a code of honor in some way. And they need to be a pillar for other demons
Welp, that would definitely include THE Devil from Cuphead
I mean devils are usually out to make something of themselves, be it being an overlord or rulling earth. To be able to be truly dangerous they must have a code to live by. Honestly that makes them more terrorfoying at times.
@@MrDaimeon why am I not surprised to see you here?
A good rule of thumb for me is that lawful can also be considered as the "has a plan or reason" for what it does alignment while it's inverse chaotic is the "does it because it feels good" alignment.
Lawful evil: take over the world (lex luthor)
Chaotic evil: destroy the world or just kill everything on it, cus fuck it (joker)

Lei? You sir, is a man of culture.
I used Akria as my protag, Lei, Sundown and Oboromaru
I'm surprised Demon of Hatred from Sekiro wasn't on this list. He has a tragic backstory and he's a tough boss fight to boot.
Finally good to see the Shadow Queen on a top 10. After missing top 15 longest bosses, I say it’s about time.
@@krimsonkatt Ah right. For some reason I got “Top 10 Superbosses” confused with another countdown name (can’t remember which one, but oh well).

Hope this halloween, Josh does a remake on disturbing bosses from non horror games.
If he makes that list Deadhand from Ocarina of Time needs to be #1. Easiest the scariest boss from that category even if he's really easy.
@@krimsonkatt I can think of a LOT of bosses from non horror games that are a lot scarier than Dead Hand.
@@MacNava Like what? Nothing is scarier than Dead Hand outside of horror, especially when you consider the lore.

So happy to see Giratina, Shadow Queen, & Gaismagorm on this list.^^
Ehhhh... I woden't say Giratina is a deamon.
@@theautisticintrovertedluca3634 Well, ignoring that this is just Josh’s personal list.(not to be sounding negative to you or anything of that tone, just that this is a very opinionated list)
Giratina is supposed to be based on the devil with the 6 wings, 6 legs, & 6 ribs and was created by Arceus, who’s supposed to be based on God.
It's Are-Kay-Us, not Are-See-Us! Silvally and it's AKS System Ability proves this.

Joshscorcher said that Cyrus was antagonizing Giratina, but when Cyrus saw Giratina, he wasn’t expecting to encounter another member of the Creation Trio.
Top 10 “Greater good“ type villains.
Edelgard.
Cyrus. Even near the end when he's completely snapped, he still talks about bringing peace to "our world"
So N then?
@@s.p.d.magentaranger1822 Edelgard isn't really a villain, more like antihero/antagonist depending on the route. And in Three Hopes she's way better and actually feels like a protagonist instead of a deeply flawed morally grey protagonist/antagonist who makes some REALLY dumb decisions. Basically to compare Three Hopes and There Houses Edelgard:
Houses
-Commits genoside on an entire endangered race.
Hopes
-Gets rid of the terrorists who ruined her life ASAP
-Doesn't commit multiple war crimes, and does everything in her power to spare her enemies if possible
-Her route has the least garenteed deaths (two, being Ingrid and Gustav both who are hated by the fanbase) and the most possible recruits.

In terms of correlation to the term "demon bosses", I'd recommend his fight in SMT Nocturne, but the one from SMT V is also noteworthy in its own right.
I think Lucifer will end up on Josh's Devils List.

@@azazeltheundyingdamienkali5700
I'll hold you to that.

It was cancelled in favor of making Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate instead built off it's engine but the Lords of Shadow reboot failed and the whole series was cancelled soon after due to Konami leaving the games industry to pursue gambling instead)
2035: Castlevania Aria of Sorrow
2036: Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow (final game in the timeline and direct sequel to Aria of Sorrow. Mathias/Soma's story ends here but there is still a possibility of a new dark lord rising in the far future once Soma is long gone...)
Non Canon Games
-Kid Dracula 1&2.
Weird Stuff that is probably canon
-The Symphony of the Night and Dawn of Sorrow audio dramas that exist as epilogues for both those games. Very arguably canon despite they're obscurity.
odio means hate so for someone to be named that yeah they a threat
Oh my god Josh showed off the final boss of Yo Kai Watch 1 finally it’s getting the top 10 list attention it deserves
YES
Yo-Kai Watch needs alot more love.
Sounds like we're getting an angels/celestials boss list in the near future looking at that ending.
I have a idea for a future list. Top 10 undead bosses if you haven't done it already. If you have then top 10 mech bosses
Nice to see Vlitra actually getting some love for once, it's a boss you rarely see talked about tbh!
I love the use of Psycho Sid's theme here, kinda funny.
I recognized a few names from here. Shadow Queen, Dark Gaia, Manus and Gaismagorm. And I may even consider LAL if the final fight is that good.
The devil is in the details when it’s comes to this list.
Is it me or is it weird that there are no bosses on this list from Shin Megami Tensei? You know THE game series that centers around demons and fighting with and against them!
I’m happy that Gaismagorm made it to the list. Definitely a spectacle and one of the best fights in Monster Hunter yet. 😊
I’m a Monster Hunter fan and I’ve never heard or seen that name before in my life.
@@JaelinBezel It’s a new monster introduced recently in Monster Hunter: Rise Sunbreak.
Oh HELL YES finally someone remembers Skorne and Gauntlet Legends!!!
Finally, after all these years, oersted finally gets his moment to save the world, no longer a vessel, but a hero
He's not the only villain to have a happier ending in a video game remake.
@@geekdaparaiba can you give me some examples, I wanna look those up
@@kirinbobarcana Toc-Man/Orson in Pacman World Re-Pac. In the Golden Ending, if you find all of Pacman's family members, Orson doesn't ends up being eaten. Instead, he's forgiven by Pacman himself.
@@geekdaparaiba that's so sweet
29:29 "No, thats actually German for: The, Child, The"
As soon as you brought up Gauntlet Dark Legecy, I lost my shit!
MAN I need to play that game again! It’s the only game me and my sisters can agree on!
You forgot something important about #1... Namely the alternate scenario.
Already covered it in Fallen Heroes.
I hope we see Shadows of the Damned on this list. Fleming or Justine would be my choices if it was.
You missed Deathven from Breath of Fire 2. Not enough people talk about that series I swear...
20:15 I also really love gauntlet dark legacy! I still play it from time to time. I just wish I had others to play with.
Time to SHOUT AT THE DEVIL!!!
"Resist the devil, and he shall flee from you"
Called it with Odio at 1.
have to say the 9 is more of a primordial than a demon,
and 8 is literally one of the incarnations of the pokemon devil , so it feels like neather of them should be on this list
Seriously, Josh even gracing Okami a numbered spot on this countdown is something I never thought he'd do.
Sometimes you need some time away from a game to see it in a different light. And maybe some context: It's Hideki Kamiya, after all.
To be honest, I was actually expecting Lao Shan lung or Kushala daora to appear in Giratina’s place
of course the Shadow Queen wants Peach she is the strongest Knigth in Mario RPG Series, and since Oersted fell to hate does that make him a sith that can be redeem if you choose to play as the other characters instead of Oersted
I'm glad to see Diablo being recognized as a Demon Fight (obvious due to how it came to mortal realms, AKA Sanctuary for those who knows, and also how Josh perfectly recaptured the path of the youngest, yet most destructive being in the original 4 acts game)
Also, if one wants to know more about the first 2 Diablo Lore, it's worth reading (and actually far more complex than one could think)
I'm surprised that Void Termina from Kirby star allies wasn't at least mentioned in the list. It's such a memorable fight against a world destroyer demon with a lot of lore, a great atmosphere, it plays out incredible, and there is a big mystery about his final form looking like Kirby himself.
Fun thing about the word odio
In spanish odio is hatred
What happens when you remove the O
it becomes dio which is the word for god in spanish considering odio can just snap his fingers and erase existence yeah...
It's funny how I'm playing Rune Factory 5 while I'm listening to this video. Light, whimsical town theme versus a countdown of demonic bosses.
This ill tempered draught, we shall partake of it again.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Come on, Giratina spent untold millennia all alone in the Distortion World, can you blame it for being... cranky?
Oddly theres no DMC or bayonetta(2) bosses in this top 10
Odio/Oersted - Hate
O. Dio - Wrath
Odie O. Bright - Envy
OD-10 - Sloth
Ode Iou - Greed
ODO - Lust
Ou Di Wan Lee - Pride
Odeo - Gluttony
Odo and Odeo is the other way around.
Odo is an incelosaurus-rex who kills females of other tribes because it itself can't mate. The fact that the chapter is themed around love and only females were seen captured by the Kuu Tribe supports this notion. Odeo is powered by thousands of liquefied humans despite the machines only really needing one, and all that effort to farm that many people don't even matter because the boss was intentionally designed to be easy to kill, what with the self-destruct trigger at its back.
@@CountShaman Because of your good point, I just edit my comment. Thank you for pointing that out.
Garm never survived Skorne’s slap. His soul was held by Skorne in the underworld, as punishment for assuming that he could control Skorne without the 13th runestone.
Damn this was a heck of a list . Multi phase bosses would be a cool idea ,
Correction about Giratina in Platinum.
Honestly seeing McKraken as a part of the rules list gives me hope that eventually there will be some Yokai Watch Representation in these top 10s
Cyrus: I'm going to create a new world, destroying this one in the process!
Giratina: Aw hell naw, I've seen this one before. Get over here, boy.
The Distortion World is not an equivalent of Hell.
23:36 Oh come on, no Undertale?? That was the most obvious one!
29:10
Is this the 'Oersted scream' static I've heard of? I tried finding it on RUclips, but no luck.
Call it now next is angels
This video has told me one major thing that I've realized this year, "WELCOME TO HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Here's an idea for a Boss Countdown; Top 10 Evil Creation Bosses. Bosses that were seen as experiments and were created by the main antagonist, usually a mad scientist, to be seen as their ultimate weapon for their evil goals.
first: I FREAKING LOVE OKAMI BEST GAME EVER
2nd: how are you all doing?
3rd: hey, josh mentioned okami in his video, cool
So does this mean we'll eventually get a Top Ten God Bosses list?
I kind of wished there was some bosses from the Darksiders series in the list there's a ton of demon bosses from the four games that would have been perfect for this list. To name a few :
1). The Destroyer
2). Envy
3) Absalom
4) Samual
