Bond games need to get away from constantly trying to be GoldenEye and focus on something that builds characters, a MetroidVania game in the style of Arkham Asylum, where the whole game is set infiltrating a Spectre citadel would make for an amazing Bond game.
The potential for something great with the Bond license is so great it's frustrating! I wish someone would have the balls to take it up and realise that potential... Probably not anytime soon though...
@@calvindyson Indeed, anything that's happened in a Metal Gear Solid game could easily be transferred to a Bond game Etc. I don't think we'll be seeing any more Bond games for a while, a lot of the big publishers are struggling with their own titles right now, so probably can't afford the luxury of a license, especially when it's been dormant for a few years. Oh, please please please try the James Bond Jr NES game, no one ever talks about it, but it's really good! Eurocom developed it too.
What's wrong with trying to be GoldenEye? Gameplay is important. If you want story and characters, you can read a book or watch movie. Also, Legends tried to be Call of Duty, not GoldenEye.
I disagree. The gaming world is severely lacking in GoldenEye style shooters and the Bond franchise was the only thing keeping them going. I'd much rather play an upgrade version of the Bond games than Call of Duty.

Yeah, we have a game where you can play as all heroes from all movies so far with distinguished and unique animation and combat, and costumes from movies as well as CGi Clone Wars, 4 classes for each side, wookies, flametroopers, troops with jetpack, droid commandos, droidekas, *FUCKING CLONE COMMANDOS*, did I also mentioned flight combat with three classes and Hero ships? All of it with same price to pay for all, without any DLC or expansion packs deciding community like any other shooter nowadays. With active support from developers. Never Star Wars fans were ripped off as much as that. /s
I know it’s unlikely that this will ever happen but I would love to see a new bond game based on the cancelled third bond film featuring Timothy Dalton, The Property of a Lady, It would be awesome to see that story made into a game, Dalton would most likely be able reprise his role as bond since he’s still alive, there’d be various locations like Tokyo, Hong Kong, etc and I would prefer for it to be in third person so we can see Timothy Dalton’s model, the game can be semi open world but not fully free roam, the game can have driving levels since the Aston Martin db5 was meant to appear in the film or even flying levels and more That’s my dream bond game
I think that it has legs.. Perhaps capturing the late '80s early '90s, too, as they did with the '60s setting in the "From Russia With Love" game. Using that as a bench mark, expanding on the original sets, score and overall feel they could make a whole series of Bond games featuring classic Bonds with expanded content. I'd totally buy it !!!
That’s sounds like a great idea. There’s just one problem, Dalton would never do it. He still loves and is passionate about the character but He’s not really fond of the commercial side of it all. He’d probably think it’s just weird
@@mohammedashian8094 Agreed. I does feel like when he left Bond it was a mutual departure and he was fine leaving it behind back in 1994 and as you say he was never keen on the commercial side [similar to Craig] so there's no chance he'd come back.
Calvin - Bond Reviewer same here for us Transformers fans. We haven't had a new game since Transformers Devastation (which was a bit short but still epic) in 2015.
Calvin - Bond Reviewer same for doctor who, well we have never really had a game. Also Star Trek, although we have online it’s been out for nearly ten years, we need a new game
"I didn't catch your-" "JAMES BOND!" I'm 8 mins in and I can already tell this is going to be fun! Hahaha! The only saving grace this game has is the soundtrack and character models. Genuinely nice to hear some of the older, classic Bond motifs completely reorchestrated and integrated into a modern score. This game had so much potential and now i've been reminded about it i'm just angry all over again!! I remember playing this when it was released and getting up to that insanely boring stealth sequence during the Licence To Kill mission and I just stopped playing. Didn't complete it until a few years ago and found the fact that the whole thing just abruptly ends completely unbelievable.
Remember when Bruce Feirstein was interviewed before this came out and talked candidly about the "really clever and intricate plan" in place to weave all of these separate plots together in a fresh and exciting way? Jesus christ. 😂😂
Man i'm getting some terrible terrible flashbacks of this game. I completely forgot how all the cutscenes look like someone has smeared vaseline on the lense. I completely agree when you say Moonraker looks like it has the most care put into it. It's the best level in the game by far but has the exact same problem as the others in that it makes NO SENSE!!
This is pretty much the Kevin McClory of the Bond games. Someone who tries to act as if he belongs to the series, but instead was just another mistake to be made.
Interesting fact: The Wii U version is technically the “definitive version”. It’s the only version where you can do the unlocking mechanisms and switch weapons and gadgets with the GamePad touch screen, albeit mediocre, but they still tried I suppose. It’s the only version where Skyfall dlc is included, which is why it’s funnily dubbed “definitive” lol. Can make kinda in bed too with the GamePad lol. Also the only version you can play separate screens in offline multiplayer.
37:24 Now I want to see the 15 min Skyfall Special Edition, where M immediately calls Bond after he was shot down and climbed out of the water to say that she's sorry. He forgives her. Then credit roll.
The closest thing you can get to a Bond game these days is actually the modern Hitman games. (HITMAN 2016 and HITMAN 2). I think you might like them actually.
21:08 Both TLD and LTK have had videogame adaptions. I never could bring myself to play this one, it looked so horrid. In the early 2000's we had Agent Under Fire, Nightfire & Everything Or Nothing (a golden era). A decade later we had.... this.
Bond8789 Timothy Dalton was also the first Bond to get an original video game: ‘James Bond: The Duel’ for Sega Mega Drive. I’m not sure how much of a story it has, but it does have his mug on the box art and title screen, so I guess it counts.
@@BenCol Quite right. From what I remember of 007 The Duel, I think the story involved Blofeld, Jaws and Oddjob. But it's been a loooooong time since I last played it.
@@BenCol James Bond: The Duel was also on the Sega Game Gear and Genesis as well. I had a Game Gear years ago and I am a little sorry that I never played The Duel for it. Still the GG version only had four levels so I doubt I missed much. James Bond 007 for the Nintendo Gameboy was a much better experience. I like to imagine that it was Timothy Dalton's Bond, I was playing as in that game. I feel very privileged that I got to play both Goldeneye 007 and The World Is Not Enough on my Nintendo 64 as a teenager. Both of them shaped my enjoyment of First Person Shooter video games for years to come. Additionally, I enjoyed Nightfire, Everything Or Nothing, From Russia With Love, and Goldeneye 2010. I am glad that I never traded them in since 007 Legends was such a bust and as the moment their are no new video games in the works.
JB0071051982 The Mega Drive is the same machine as the Genesis - they had to rebrand it in the States because someone had already trademarked the name there. And while I haven’t played ‘The Duel’ (from all accounts it looks a bit like Namco’s ‘Rolling Thunder’ but with Bond) I have played ‘James Bond 007’ on the Game Boy. It felt a bit like Zelda with guns, and I enjoyed it for the most part, although I do remember disliking a bit in the middle where you had to win a certain amount of money in a casino to progress - basically locking off the story until you got good enough at blackjack.
@@calvindyson The Moonraker level was actually the first one they showed when they revealed the game so that does make sense. Too bad they didn't put half as much effort into the rest of the game..
Goldfinger is iconic and they probably wanted to have any excuse possible to play the theme in the movie, Moonraker was probably just picked to use anti-gravity mechanics and Die Another Day because it’s the only Brosnan era film not to have a game already
Here’s a new angle for this game: what if they did a 007 legends but in Lego? With the newest Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga boasting a complex combat system with special abilities, a massive character roster with many actors reprising their roles and a massive open world. I get some of the innuendos and violence would be hard to work around, but I would love it if they did.
It’s really a shame that modern companies are looking at movie licenses as quick cash grabs with the emphasis on quick. It’s like they believe that “real” gamers won’t play it so all they have to do is throw some fan service on a half-assed 20min game and everyone will pay 60.00 for it. You can look at Star Wars, or this game to see what modern gaming companies think of these licenses. The thing that made older bond games like goldeneye, everything or nothing, nightfire etc. great was that it was a AMAZING game in the James Bond universe. Not just pixelized James Bond characters set to clash of clans.
Slow day at work today, watching Dyson’s new review to pass the time. To make matters better, it’s a public holiday here in NZ today, that means we are being payed extra, so basically I’m getting paid double to watch a brand new RUclips video! Fuck yeah, talk about a bloody profit!
I for one really liked this game. When I got my 360 in 2013, I played 007 Legends for the first time and was mind blown by the graphics because before I had my 360, I was playing PS2 (I still play PS2 to this very day). I think the game was awesome but the Skyfall DLC is absolute garbage because you don't get to drive into Scotland or drive up to the Skyfall Lodge. The DLC is a HUUUUGE disappointment but all in all, I liked the game because it felt like GoldenEye: Reloaded but based around old 007 movies (Goldfinger, OHMSS, License To Kill, Die Another Day and Moonraker.
Dlc is only the Japan scene because of spoilers for movie since it came before the movie. And they SHOULD have had with the ending scenes of Skyfall to play!
Such a wasted opportunity... They could have brought back the original actors (which can never happen now) for their films, or even better, made original stories for all of them. It would solve several problems and just be amazing. Imagine getting new adventures for Connery and Moore, Lazenby finally getting revenge after OHMSS, Dalton getting the third film he deserved, Brosnan getting Phoenix Fire or something, and Craig getting ...whatever. And then have multiplayer levels from every film and even some based on books etc, plus the cars, the gadgets, and references to everything Bond ever made. Well, I can only dream...
I remember reading that they wanted to use the pervious Bond likenesses for a multiplayer feature in Goldeneye N64 but it ran into legal issues-I presume it's still an issue as none of the subsequent Bond games have had multiple Bond likenesses.
When I was younger I enjoyed this game immensely. It's a shame to revisit the game and see how objectively poor it is, especially because of how much fun I had with the stealth and gadgets.
I hate this game too, but if you honestly think that a video game, or any art, can be judged "objectively" then you're woefully delusional and you have my pity.
@@HOTD108_ i still like the game, but you can judge aspects of it objectively. the level design, for example, is objectively poor. it is difficult to navigate, every hall looks the same, and the secret functions are often so confusing that it’s difficult to know where they are. this is because of objectively bad design
@@marthaindahouse1010 "you can judge aspects of it objectively" You fundementally misunderstand how taste and art work. It's such a sadness that media discussion has devolved to the point where people unironically think their opinions are objective.
@@HOTD108_ it’s not “my opinion”, the level design is objectively more complicated and convoluted and is less easy for the casual player to understand. this is not my opinion, this is if you look at the design from an objective standpoint
@@HOTD108_ You can like whatever you want, but if you're claiming it's not bad, you're being willfully ignorant. There are a lot of bad games I love -- Shadow the Hedgehog, for example, has garbage writing and the main character controls like a stick of butter on an oil slick on ice, but I still love it. You can enjoy something while still acknowledging its glaring flaws, that's not a problem, but the moment you start pretending they don't exist is the moment you earn _my_ pity.
It was actually incredibly clever to have all the original adventures take place (in some way) between QoS and Skyfall, then Spectre came out and ruined that lol
The highlight for me was probably the finale of the Goldfinger portion. Say what you will about how inaccurate it is to the source, but it was absolutely action packed and pretty honestly well done. It kinda highlighted how well Reloaded handled allot of its revision. The problem is that no other part of the game kept that same momentum and it was a very hit or miss experience afterwards.
In my opinion 007 Legends was terrible but my favourite mission was On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and I wished the other actors had their likeness and voices in the game. Can’t wait to see the 007 Racing review keep it up Calvin 👍🏻

In all honesty my favorite segment in this game was On Her Majesty's Secret Service due to the Piz Gloria level, great review by the way, been waiting for this!
I was so disappointed when these levels were just flashbacks. When they announced that they were going to be tied with an over arching narrative I thought they were going to have all these villains working together all Spectre like.
When it comes to Bond games, im suprised they have never attempted to make a fighting game since the Bond movies are also known for the awesome fight scenes. This concept would have worked better as that, a fighting game with characters from past and present Bond movies, including all 6 Bonds if they could get the rights to use each of thier likenesses, Stages would be familiar locations from the Bond movies.
It's always a pleasure to see one your reviews uploaded, especially the gaming ones. Some of my favorite moments from this video: 4:00 - 4:20 I'm sorry are we watching Bond keeping a low profile or how I like to play stealth sections? 25:10 Now I want someone to mod a Star Wars game to replace Emperor Palpatine with Gustav Graves. This works almost too well. 25:30 Geez, Bond are you going to make it? Do you need Q to design a helmet for you? What's going on buddy? 29:10 Well at least it makes sense this time. In regards to the lack of Bond games recently, Activison lost the James Bond Video Game License years ago and it has been in limbo ever since. Apparently in 2013 likely due to 007 Legends' poor sales & reception since the deal was supposed to last until 2014, so I guess this game did more damage than originally thought. On the bright side that along with other games like the Batman: Arkham series & PS4's Spider-Man prove that rushed games to release alongside a movie do not make as much money as taking the time needed to craft fun gameplay, writing great stories as well as simply giving the developers the time they need to complete the game. There have been some company presidents commenting about how they'd like to make some 007 games but so far nothing has progressed. One of those was the president of TellTale...but with the company filing for bankruptcy and shutting down a few months ago....yeah that's not going to happen although it would've been cool to a game focused more on the spy element similar to how their Batman games focused more on the detective aspect of the character. Regardless of who picks up the license (unless it's somehow EA again in which we'll need to host a funeral for 007 games) they will know that they can not crap out a 007 game & expect it to sale like crazy meaning the next game, whenever that'll release, should be something worth playing. Some day we will have another great 007 game...just probably not for another several years since again, no one has the license to make a James Bond video game right now and it'd (hopefully) take a few years to make to allow the time & effort it deserves.
The worst thing is that this game probably picked the best out of the previous Bond actors’ films which could be made into a game: Goldfinger with its iconic characters and sequences, Secret Service with its ski chases, License to Kill with the tanker chase, Die Another Day with the vanquish chase and Graves fight, and Moonraker with the battle aboard the space station.
A51 Trooper Does it? I thought Nintendo shut down the Wi-Fi servers for Wii and DS. Ah well, even if it is still up, my Wii’s up in the attic now. I had a lot of fun with GoldenEye’s online back in the day, but I have since moved on. Hopefully a Bond game will appear on Switch - I can but dream.
Yeah, it still works because it isn't Nintendo who run those servers, but I'm hoping for a Bond game on Switch as well. I just want this nightmarish Bond game licence over with.
Oh, if you collect 007 games, try and get hold of the Wii U version of 007 Legends, they only made 5000 copies for Europe as Activision were trying to rush the game out before the lost the license. So it could be quite collectable someday.
I think you’re right about the game’s story. Unless you know ahead of time about the mythology of James Bond your not going to understand the story of this game. I think the other problem is that they didn’t always choose the best film in each actors eras. Now they made the right choice with Goldfinger and they had no choice obviously with On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, but some of the other levels were just bad. I would have been fine if for Roger Moore they would have went with The Spy Who Loved Me or Live and Let Die, but why did they have to choose Moonraker a movie that the majority of Bond fans don’t like, and when I saw that Die Another Day was the movie they chose from the Brosnan era, I immediately turned off the game in frustration.
The other Brosnan films had already got games so they didn't have a choice there. I guess Spy who loved me would have worked as you still could have Jaws in there [I wouldn't have minded a full SWLM game in the style of the From Russia with Love game if they followed that up with a Roger return back in 2005].
At the time this game was released all Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, George Lazenby and Daniel Craig bond films had been at least partially adapted into games. Spectre now being the only Craig not to. I wish we had a video game with Roger Moore like we did Sean Connery.
"I didn't catch you're name" "James Bond!" Most iconic quote in all of James Bond, his first line in the series and so much more, how do you fuck that up?
I want rockstar to make a bond game. Imagine a gta like open world bond game based around true espionage where you could choose how to get close to the villain and how to take them down.
No more Bond games probably has to do with a wider game industry shift: No more console/PC movie-tie-in games. That the developers have seemingly caught onto the poor image that games have of movie game adaptations, and have simply decided to stop making them. Those that are made are in the form of mobile games, going all in on the casual market. And presumably, in the now-seven years since 007 Legends, no other game dev has garnered any interest on trying to pull a Batman Arkham or Spider-Man PS4 for a Bond game.
I think a Bond game could be made if it has an original story or maybe mixes some elements from the books or comics or whatever. Maybe have an original Bond, M, Q, etc. models (like with Agent Under Fire), a good mix of action, driving, stealth levels, some superb multiplayer elements, etc. etc. Maybe they could take some notes from Spider Man PS4 or the Arkham games or Hitman even. I feel like a licensed game for console/PC could be made it's just that licensed games are turned into shitty mobile games now with heavy microtransactions. I don't think a lot of ppl remember that a Bond mobile game was released in I think 2015 and it was just a shitty mobile game with microtransactions.
I made the mistake of playing this on the highest difficult, so you can imagine the frustration and boredom. The MR section when you need to shoot the mechanisms before the globes are released was particularly vexing. I appreciate this for the set design. The Piz Gloria and Ice Palace sections are gorgeous. However ever since we've had the COD-esque style of Bond games, it's been a disappointment. I also thought the voice actor did a great job of capturing the bored essence of Daniel Craig's Bond.
Imagine having a weird time warp sorta feel....each time Bond looks in a mirror, he sees the right Bond for that era. With appropriate gameplay style for each.
I still wish Skyfall had a scene with every previous Bond like Craig has to meet MI6's "Board" and it would be Connery,Lasenby,Moore,Dalton,And Brosnan. As cheeky as it would be every Bond was alive at the time if you ask me it would have been perfect
This was my first ever video game I got for myself. Instead of playing my siblings games, and because of this I have major nostalgia for this and so love the it. Understand its problems but will never dislike the game
I much would have preferred had this game used the likeliness of each of the Bond actors. Gameplaywise, this game needed much more polish, it was very rushed.
Activision rushed this out because their contract for the Bond license expired 2 months after this game came out. The PCGamingWiki page for the PC version of 007 Legends says that this is the cast, at least. Would've preferred Goldeneye Reloaded on Steam instead of this crap...
This was in 2012, so I'm thinking they could have gotten every bond back to voice their game moment. Moore was still alive then, and they'd be much better voice actors.
Don't worry Calvin, you weren't alone in hoping that all the Bond actors we're assembling to reprise thier roles for thier films, how awesome that could of been. Having Craig in the classic films makes no sense.
@@calvindyson The hallucinations are dumb and unnecessary, it should of have each actor in thier respective films celebrating each of arguably thier best films in thier tenure and of thier era. Another mistake like the film SPECTRE they tried to narratively link them. Especially with Craig who they established a new continuity (sort off) and supposed to ignore the previous movies.
I remember when the developers said that they would "tie" the movie universes together with this game, which I was hyped for! To bad they got lazy and just used water hallucinations! Just like u said Calvin, its just a ton of mindless shooting, and zero differences in gameplay basically throughout the whole game! Stealth and gadgets were the best part about 007 Nightfire and Agent Under Fire, and they terribly implemented them into this game! What a shame! I hope we one day get a new 007 game!!!! Awesome review Calvin, I've been looking forward to it!!!
26:30 I worked on this game as a beta tester in summer of 2012. In the earlier builds of the game, this character indeed did looked like the actress but they replaced the model a bit before release. I suppose they couldn't secure the rights to use her likeness for release.
It just plain sucks that this game killed the bond game. Hopefully when we get too see and here more about project 007 from the guys who made the hitman games we see something really good
Since the trailer I thought that this was not going to be a good game and also I would prefer that for each mission they used the Bond actor at that time. For example: In Skyfall you use Daniel Craig, Die Another Day you use Pierce Brosnan, For Goldfinger - Sean Connery and I would love that they have their own unique abilities and ways of fighting, etc. I think that would have make it waaaay better! Oh! And, of course, that the missions be as close to the movie, not exactly the same but to catch the essence of them. My favorite opening secuence will forever be Nightfire's.
10:03 - Interestingly I just checked and the voice actor who is doubling for Bond and Goldfinger is the same guy. So he's literally talking to himself!!
"Hey for this special celebratory 50th anniversary James Bond game why don't we just take Call of Duty and slap a bunch of 007 stuff on it?" "BRILLIANT! Make it happen." *sigh*
the parts that made me rage 1) on her majestys secret service on rails affair that made me absoultely angry 2) license to kill level pissed me off 3) die another day really fucked me off with the endless shooting of guards when you break into the icarus project and also the driving level 4) moonrakers destroying poison gas pods and also the pissing stealth mechanics and the part before the space station section where you infilitrate the control room and all 3 terminals that was garabage 5) the entire skyfall level sucked
The premise is interesting, that Craig!Bond is reliving his predecessors' missions while slowly going unconscious, but filtered through his unimaginative sensibilities.
Yeah I think I'll stick with my Nightfire PC mods lol (speaking of which you should definitely play through and review in the future as it's quite different to the console version). By the way that comment about Tracy eating carrots is the funniest thing I've heard this year (the Sith lightning is close behind though XD) Let's hope that if there is a plan to make a new Bond game for the 60th Anniversary that they start the development this year or have already started so it's not rushed and actually has a chance of being good.
The ups and downs of being younger than most Bond fans: Down - I haven't watched Moonraker because I never got my hands onto it. Up - I still felt the nostalgia when the yellow-jumpsuited goons appeared, because Goldeneye N64 was and still is a masterpiece.
I Love James Bond: Agent Under Fire & James Bond: Night Fire. This game for me was sooo difficult! I could only play it at the lowest level (easy) to keep me from dying over and over, I know lame.
I dont understand why many people does not like this game, is challenging, good graphics, contains License to kill my second favorite Bond movie. And also every time i play the game on multiplayer mode is a LOT OF FUN.
There was another factor on the development that you might not have been aware of, Calvin. Activision's Bond license was about to expire (and did only 3 months after 007 Legend's release). Activision has a history of trying to crank out one last game before losing a license, and they often turn out to be terrible rush jobs. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 had the same issues.
Bond fans - we must be the only group of gamers that actually miss the days EA had the rights to our series.
Eh, Activision did decent work until this mess.
starschwar Well that was before EA discovered microtransactions and just used their huge budgets to make high quality games.
If EA still had it we'd be hit with Battlefront levels or horridness
Back then EA was challenging everything. Now EA is charging everything.
Honestly, I did enjoy QoS, Bloodstone and Reloaded way more than any of the EA titles.

"Goldeneye: Rogue Agent" was the "Shadow the Hedgehog" of Bond games. "007 Legends" by that token must be the "Sonic '06". XD
Legends takes something from Generations, but just ends up being 06 as far as reception goes instead.
Don’t feel bad we Star Wars fans are feeling a drought in the gaming department as well.
Solidarity
My two favorite franchises are in the absolute shitter in terms of video games and films.
Calvin - Bond Reviewer same here for us Transformers fans. We haven't had a new game since Transformers Devastation (which was a bit short but still epic) in 2015.
Fucking EA man. :(
Calvin - Bond Reviewer same for doctor who, well we have never really had a game. Also Star Trek, although we have online it’s been out for nearly ten years, we need a new game
"I didn't catch your-"
"JAMES BOND!"
I'm 8 mins in and I can already tell this is going to be fun!
OH MY GOD THOSE PUNCHY BOSS FIGHTS AS WELL WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?!!?
Remember when Bruce Feirstein was interviewed before this came out and talked candidly about the "really clever and intricate plan" in place to weave all of these separate plots together in a fresh and exciting way? Jesus christ. 😂😂
Man i'm getting some terrible terrible flashbacks of this game. I completely forgot how all the cutscenes look like someone has smeared vaseline on the lense. I completely agree when you say Moonraker looks like it has the most care put into it. It's the best level in the game by far but has the exact same problem as the others in that it makes NO SENSE!!
personally, i think some of the weapon models also look pretty good
"Sorry I didn't catch your--"
JAMES BOND
Sorry Could you repeat that please? Um I don't think I caught the iconic introductory line.😮
This is pretty much the Kevin McClory of the Bond games.
Someone who tries to act as if he belongs to the series, but instead was just another mistake to be made.
So basically Dragonball evolution,Kai and super of the Dragonball franchise
The vending machine countdown had me in tears. Great video as always
Playing this game with the gamepad is so painful 😂😂
@@fatnug2430 You really think so? I thought it was a great added convenience. It made playing a terrible game far more bearable.
37:24 Now I want to see the 15 min Skyfall Special Edition, where M immediately calls Bond after he was shot down and climbed out of the water to say that she's sorry. He forgives her. Then credit roll.
I want a James bond game for the ps4
That goldfinger laser scene was probably one my top 5 favorite movie scenes ever
The Moon raker “level” is by far the best one, yet the Goldfinger is extremely slow
It's so uneven isn't it? They must have done the Moonraker level first
@@calvindyson The Moonraker level was actually the first one they showed when they revealed the game so that does make sense. Too bad they didn't put half as much effort into the rest of the game..
Why did they choose the lesser movies though? Why not TSWLM, Thunderball or The Living Daylights?
Goldfinger is iconic and they probably wanted to have any excuse possible to play the theme in the movie, Moonraker was probably just picked to use anti-gravity mechanics and Die Another Day because it’s the only Brosnan era film not to have a game already
Just like the movies
Whos here after the new game was announced?
Everything Or Nothing as great a game as it is...should really have been Brosnan’s final outing as Bond.
Craig in a space suit is so hilarious
Slow day at work today, watching Dyson’s new review to pass the time. To make matters better, it’s a public holiday here in NZ today, that means we are being payed extra, so basically I’m getting paid double to watch a brand new RUclips video! Fuck yeah, talk about a bloody profit!
Hahah, I'm glad I could contribute something to your day :D
Yes, this is what I wanted. Use the likeness of all the Bond actors for their respective stories.
Say what you want about Goldeneye Rogue Agent but at least it had set designs made by Ken Adams. God knows why they couldn't use that design here.

2012 saw the last 007 and medal of honor games. We're getting medal of honor again, now we need 007.
Fun fact: As I just learned, the voice actor of Golfinger and Bond are the same in this game... Meh
Tbh, I do prefer Goldeneye Reloaded to this mish mash of Bond movies in a video game, the idea was good but the execution of that idea was poor!
I want a James Bond game in the style of Mass Effect or the Deus Ex games.
It needs to happen!!
Go check out Alpha Protocol. It's a little rough round the edges but the story is pretty cool. Well worth a look anyway
@@stevenhay7147 Alpha Protocol is such a hidden gem. There's some clunky aspects to it, but the actual choice and consequence aspect is probably the best I've seen in a modern RPG. Tons and tons of replay value.

I SO wish we’d get a Blofeld book sometime. Kim Newman would be perfect for something like that.
Everything or Nothing and From Russia With Love came closest to giving us that
@@rampageclover9788you mean nightfire russia with love was already a movie
7:26 Try not throwing a punch... The game litterally gives you like 5 seconds. It's impossible to lose these fights.
30:07 Moonraker was the first movie announced as being in the game so those levels probably were finished first
It's always a pleasure to see one your reviews uploaded, especially the gaming ones.
Some of my favorite moments from this video:
4:00 - 4:20 I'm sorry are we watching Bond keeping a low profile or how I like to play stealth sections?
It was playing Eurocom’s ‘GoldenEye 007’ on the Wii that got me into Bond in the first place.
I’m forever glad I played that one and not this.
I dread to think how many potential Bond fans we lost because of 007 Legends...
If you didn't know, the online for the Wii game still works
A51 Trooper Does it? I thought Nintendo shut down the Wi-Fi servers for Wii and DS. Ah well, even if it is still up, my Wii’s up in the attic now. I had a lot of fun with GoldenEye’s online back in the day, but I have since moved on. Hopefully a Bond game will appear on Switch - I can but dream.
Yeah, it still works because it isn't Nintendo who run those servers, but I'm hoping for a Bond game on Switch as well. I just want this nightmarish Bond game licence over with.
Nobody:
Bond: *Gets knocked out*
Your review is more interesting than the game itself
Oh, if you collect 007 games, try and get hold of the Wii U version of 007 Legends, they only made 5000 copies for Europe as Activision were trying to rush the game out before the lost the license. So it could be quite collectable someday.
I hear it's the only way to play the Skyfall levels now if you didn't get the DLC at the time of release. Alas, I no longer have a Wii U!
@@calvindyson Well they're £50 in CEX now, worth getting one just to mod :P
Who has the game license now?
@@Daniel6254 No one. Some developers have approached EoN but nothing has come out of it.
@@JustLynnYT It's really a shame. I love this franchise
I don't remember Bond waking up in a fancy hotel bed with a golden girl next to him in skyfall. He was on a island after he got shot.
With all the Star Wars references, you think Zao in his coat looks like a sith lord from the expanded universe?
As a bond fan, I love this game!
Lmaooooo the James Bond part. You spit out your drink 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
At the time this game was released all Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, George Lazenby and Daniel Craig bond films had been at least partially adapted into games. Spectre now being the only Craig not to. I wish we had a video game with Roger Moore like we did Sean Connery.
Roger moore died last year....

"I didn't catch you're name"
"James Bond!"
Most iconic quote in all of James Bond, his first line in the series and so much more, how do you fuck that up?
I want rockstar to make a bond game. Imagine a gta like open world bond game based around true espionage where you could choose how to get close to the villain and how to take them down.
No more Bond games probably has to do with a wider game industry shift:
No more console/PC movie-tie-in games.
Alien: Isolation was an amazing game....
A new Bond game could work, but they should have focused on just one film.
I think you better look at the new project 007 trailer
Judi Dench M would never apologize that is not her style she has shown many times the mission is important no matter what can happen to the agents
Afternoon Calvin!
Good afternoon, Jacob :)
Imagine having a weird time warp sorta feel....each time Bond looks in a mirror, he sees the right Bond for that era. With appropriate gameplay style for each.
That would've been so good!
The Holly Goodhead Model looks like they swapped for what would have been Jynx in Die Another Day.
I love 007 Legend because It was the first James bond game that I even played on my xdox 360
21:08
Timothy Dalton had all of his Bond movies in video game form.
The new hitman games are great. A sandbox bond game (each level being a different sandbox rather) would be pretty great.
Especially taking Spectre into account. Now the game is literally just James Bond hallucinating random adventures
William Southall That would have been stunning
I hope we get a Dalton game at some point
It exists. The Duel on sega megadrive.
A new one would be great. Although Duel is likely the closest we'll ever see Dalton as Bond for a third time.
Oh I’ve been waiting for this baby!!!!!
Hope you enjoy :)
I HATED how Goldfinger sounded in this game. Why couldn't they get the same actor from GoldenEye Rogue Agent? He was so good.
I’ve been looking forward for this ever since you hinted at an in-depth review in your original Legends first impressions!
Ever since Activision's Goldeneye remaster Bond hasn't used a Walther PPK for some reason.
I do recall that if you bought the 007 Pack for this game, you would have gotten the PPK, but yeah, its a bit weird...
Hopefully when we get too see and here more about project 007 from the guys who made the hitman games we see something really good
21:08 wrong! timothy dalton (my 2nd fave Bond) with Living Daylights for Commodore 64, and Licence to kill in 007 Legends!
The only fun you had in an action game, was running away.
😄
Hi Calvin just curious as to when your licence to kill re-review be out ?
No exact date as of yet I'm afraid, hopefully at some point this year!
Joseph R. The actors for eras of masterful espionage
Make it happen." *sigh*
the parts that made me rage
1) on her majestys secret service on rails affair that made me absoultely angry
2) license to kill level pissed me off
3) die another day really fucked me off with the endless shooting of guards when you break into the icarus project and also the driving level
4) moonrakers destroying poison gas pods and also the pissing stealth mechanics and the part before the space station section where you infilitrate the control room and all 3 terminals that was garabage
5) the entire skyfall level sucked
The premise is interesting, that Craig!Bond is reliving his predecessors' missions while slowly going unconscious, but filtered through his unimaginative sensibilities.
I personally loved playing this game.
I waited YEARS for this review!
I can't wait to see what you think of this one, as I haven't even wanted to get past the part on the first level I kept dying at XD
Haha, maybe this will inspire you to go back and give it a go... Or not... probably not!!
Hated the campaign, but my god my friends and I loved the split screen multiplayer.
Great review as always Calvin!
I dont understand why many people does not like this game, is challenging, good graphics, contains License to kill my second favorite Bond movie. And also every time i play the game on multiplayer mode is a LOT OF FUN.
Since then no bond games, what a sad time.
Hell YES. I have been looking forward to this.
