    The reason there was more Casino Royal levels was because the game was supposed to be a Casino Royal game but they didn't finish it in time to they added in the Quantum levels and changed its name.

    • @HOTD108_
      @HOTD108_ 2 года назад +14

      Are you sure? I heard differently. Apparently it was always meant to be a Quantum of Solace game, but since the Quantum was constantly being re-written during the writer's strike, the game devs didn't have enough of the story to reliably make levels so they, in desperation, started making Casino Royale based levels to fill out the game.

    • @jamesatkinsonja
      @jamesatkinsonja 8 месяцев назад +1

      EA were due to make a Casino Royale game but were clearly not going to make the release date so it was cancelled and that was part of the reason the rights were moved away from them. Maybe some of that work went into Quantum.

    The PS2 version of Quantum of Solace is definitely worth playing as well, it's actually a bit more like Bloodstone minus the driving levels. The entire game is entirely in 3rd person and despite some similarity in the levels, it is for the most part a completely different experience that I personally enjoyed more than the XBOX 360/PS3 version, especially cause you are able to carry as many weapons as you find.

    I would just love to say your welcome and thank you for both the thanks.../shout out in the video, didn't realise you were going to thank each of the donaters out loud in person, and also for all the content you have and hopefully continue to produce. You can definitely tell that the quality is much much better. The three exclusive reviews as well as this one are great.
    Also for the multi-player, I have also found that I have never been able to get into a match for lots of the Craig/PS3 games, so maybe could a good idea to play the multi-player with a load of your viewers so that you get to review all, or most of the multi-player, I know you focus mainly on single player.
    Anyway loving all your videos, can't wait for the next one!!! (:

  • @StupidMarioBros1Fan
    @StupidMarioBros1Fan 9 лет назад +36

    WARNING: Very long comment as these are my thoughts from throughout the review.
    2:42 I also hate this feature, I don't care if it's more "realistic" to only being able to carry a certain amount of weapons, gets annoying, I hate it more when you can't trade in certain guns like your P99 in GoldenEye Wii/Reloaded game, fine I'll deal with trading guns but let me get rid of the P99 pistol for an automatic gun please!
    9:55 That is a better way to do Quick Time Events, what I hate isn't that it's just a button press during a cutscene, it's that it's so limited. It's always either "Press this or the game won't continue" or "Press this or you'll get hurt/will die" making more like those combat games like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat where you had multiple options and multiple posibilities would've made QTE's so much better because then it would be like you're actually playing except you can't move around and with awesome animations.
    10:22 OMG YES! I don't care if smartphones are used all the time these days, gadgets are so much cooler to use, I hate how in Craig's films and games (not his fault though) that the smart phone is pretty much the only thing he uses. 007 Legends changed it up a little by giving his watch some cool features, but it isn't as big of a variety as say GoldenEye or Nightfire. Plus the gadgets were a huge part of Bond and just spy movies. When you hear the term "Spy" or "Secret Agent" these days, you think of a cool and good-looking man with grenades that look like common household things, hidden weapons in your clothes, etc NOT a man that uses his smartphone for everything and is only different physically and mentally and doesn't have any cool-looking and original tools.
    13:00 You can argue that aiming with a Sniper rifle was always a little difficult with it moving around, in GoldenEye for the N64 the Sniper Rifle would move around a bit, but it never was as bad as it is now. >_<
    15:22 Really? I figured it would be like one or two flash back levels, not half of the game. In that case, why not just start with the Casino Royale levels first and then go on to the QoS ones, like a two Bond films in One game sort of things or something. Be less weird that what they did here. lol
    18:10 Oh, I was expecting to be just like CoD where it gets red with those vain marks appearing, that's actually a cool take on the modern health system, but it could've been done so much better since it makes it hard to see when you're low on health. :P
    19:47 Shut up and take my money1
    22:50 ...not sure what to say other than that's a pretty cool and unique level design.
    23:36 brhaahahha! Now that is going to be one of my favorite parts of this review. xD
    27:05 Holy shit, maybe that's why there weren't more cutscenes, they spent all the budget on her model! XD In all seriousness that really is an amazing Judy Dench model.
    Anyways I thoroughly enjoyed this review (like always lol) and I can't wait for the next one. :D

    • @Noah-Lach
      @Noah-Lach 6 лет назад +2

      The reason they don't start with Casino Royale is because the flashback cover s up the giant chunk missing from the QoS levels. It skips from the sinkhole (end of the movie's first act) straight to the hotel (third act) which would be super jarring.

    Played this on the PS2, and mostly remember it because the sinkhole level offered one of my fave moments of poor AI in gaming;
    BADDY: "I'll get him!"
    *pulls out grenade and throws it*
    *it misses, bounces off the wall and lands at his feet*
    *baddy looks down*
    BADDY: "GET ME OUT OF HERE!"
    *BANG*

    One of the strangest things I found about this game is that they motion captured Gemma Arterton (Strawberry Fields) but she never appeared in the game? I know because in a behind the scenes video for the game they literally showed her head being scanned.

    • @jamesatkinsonja
      @jamesatkinsonja 8 месяцев назад +1

      They probably scanned her in case they needed Fields but ended up not needing her. Similar to how Camille gets quite a lot of screen time in the film but isn't in the game too much.

    I first thought that the music from the Opera level was very similar to one of the musical pieces featuring Kara or the opera scene from The Living Daylights. I actually had to put the movie in and listen to those scenes to figure out that they aren't the same music, but share some similarities.
    On another note, I also like how they incorporated the very rare Walther WA2000 sniper rifle Dalton fired in The Living Daylights into the Quantum game.
    As always, you gave an excellent and entertaining review that was well worth the better part of an hour watching. Keep up the great work!

    For me, the PS2 version of Quantum of Solace was much better as it was a 3rd person shooter and it was at least creative with the limitations that you could do for a Bond game based on the Craig era. However whenever I am bored I feel like playing a game for half an hour, I would pop this one in occasionally with its somewhat arcade like feel to it and I am not a fan of first person shooters, but I am just as big of a fan of Bond as you are.

    You just gave me a brilliant idea:
    Q gives Bond a bow-tie that also functions as a PS controller.EDIT: Second idea--Q also gives him a watch with a "digitizer" in it. He points the timepiece at a weapon or item, presses the button, and _yoink!_ it's safely stored in a digital inventory. Caveat: It doesn't work on living matter.

I agree with you on the cutscenes being a little lacking - although, I like the idea of us being able to see events from CR and QOS from the MI6 perspective... I think the game makes for a much better Casino Royale video game than Quantum - but then as you pointed out, they had more material with Royale. Awesome review! Totally agree. Game is fun and well worth playing. Feels light on the cinematics and Bondy feel. Here's hoping that Spectre (which looks more fantastical than previous Craig films) will inspire something new and interesting in Bond games. I love everything you do. Keep up the good work!

    Ps2 quantum is 3rd person all the way through. While ps3, 360, pc, and wii versions were 1st person and 3rd person. Which do people seem to prefer?

    Hey Calvin! Nice review :) You've reminded me of the diminishing market of 007 games.. Especially the flop of Legends. Do you think a future video game will arise? Such a new storyline like nightfire? I wonder if another game company will buy the license? And omg at the length of this video!! I'm surprised you didn't do a part 2! ;)

    If you pause this at 30:44, you can see another building, I thought 500 miles would be a long distance, but it appears that in video games 500 miles is more like 10-15

  • @SeekerLancer

    I agree the Casino Royale thing is a bit abrupt. They probably should have just played the game in chronological order instead of making it a flashback. I think it's kind of clear it was meant to be a Casino Royale game and Quantum of Solace ended up being tacked in later.
    I've really been enjoying your channel. Can't wait for future Bond game reviews.

    That statement at 02:45 ...... I hear ya Calvin,and I feel your pain! As for the game,an "open world" character would've been better all the time instead of certain cut scenes. ✌🏻️

  • @tarantulaguy1998
    @tarantulaguy1998 7 лет назад

    This is unrelated to Bond completely, but have you played the game Wolfenstein: The New Order. That game was released in 2014 and it reinstated the trope of you being able to carry a whole arsenal of weapons, all of which you can dual wield. It's nothing to do with Bond, but if you love that aspect of FPS's, definitely check it out.

    Honestly, the Sheriff Pepper skit and the psychotic killing of Marc Forster (I suddenly feel inclined to purchase this game) have brought this review straight into my top 5 videos of yours. I may have to re-edit the montage I did for you.

    • @calvindyson

      Cyburgin I must say... Being tasked with taking out any other Bond director wouldn't have been nearly as satisfying... Except maybe Lee Tamahori ;)

    • @cyburgin
      @cyburgin 9 лет назад

      Who knows, maybe one day you might be tasked with a mission concerning protecting a VIP who bore a resemblance to Martin Campbell or Guy Hamilton. And the gunmen were actually led by Tamahori. That would be interesting!

    • @DarthRushy
      @DarthRushy 8 лет назад

      +Cyburgin LOL Yes. It made think how much better the Craig movies would be if he kept running into Sheriff Pepper every film. Casino Royale, Bolivia, Scotland... and then it turns out Pepper is Blofeld in Spectre.

    The PS2 version was superior to the X360/PS3 version. You got to visit the Haitian Docks and you got to have a shootout with Elvis (which for some reason was ridiculously hard). I still go back to it whenever I get my PS2 out.

    Huh, I'm guess I shouldn't be surprised explosions would sound good considering who was making those sounds for this game.
    I know other games where Berlongieri worked on both music and sound fx and I guess his music just stood out more to me... but those games did tend to have pretty punchy explosion effects too. :)
