Be advised my wheels and tires are all the same size, 18" T Sportline with BF Goodrich tires. The MYP stock 21"Uberturbine wheels are a staggered setup so the rear tires are wider than the front and you should not rotate tires from front to back, only left to right.
How are you liking the 18s on your MY? Do you have any pictures you can share or link to? Love the beefy tire look
We are loving them. Here is an update video after 5k miles. We are currently at 13k miles now. Hope this video helps.

Thank you
You're welcome
There's a company by me called "discount tire" that rotates and balances tires for free regardless if you've gotten tires from there or not. Makes the maintenance on my Tesla even cheaper!
Yeah ok lmao. They charge 20-30 a tire
I personally prefer to work on my car myself instead of trust some 18 or 19 year old kid rotating them at discount. Yes it is more convenient, but I also have heard horror stories of over torquing the lug nuts or not properly lifting the car using the appropriate jack points.
@@Omar_313_ That's weird my bill was 0.
@@cannukian1 you probably got it from there. Or they kinda screwed up and thought u got it from there. I got mine from Tesla and they wouldn’t do it. I called around and 1 discount tire said $50 for the entire car (4 wheels). Then I actually went there and it was $30/tire smdh. I was forced to do it bc I emptied out the car (car seats and other things for the kids) plus it was close to my workplace.
@@Omar_313_I think they might’ve charged you for both tire balancing and tire rotation.. if you ask for just tire rotation then they will do it for free I guess.
I read the right way to rotate is right front to left rear and left front to right rear though?
That way works as well.
I just wonder about the tire changes on those GMC Hummer EV's
Rivian RS1, Rivian RS2 , and Tesla Model 3's, Tesla CyberTrucks as well......
since the car is almost balanced unlike ICE, rotation interval can definitely go longer at probably 12000mi IMO
Thanks for the tip
Ahhhhh so those Model Y's require Tire Changes after 6,000 miles 📝🗃️📚
I believe it’s 6500-7500 miles.
How do you know if you set the right torque when tightening the lugs?
I use the torque wrench and set it to the recommended torque.
Excellent use of two floor jacks for cross tire rotation! Dual motor Teslas seem to be rear wheel drive biased so your rearward cross pattern is the way to go per tire company recommendations. I plan on rotating mine the same way on my new MY LR when it hits about 6K miles.
EDIT: Don't jack diagonally! I just found this in the official Model Y service manual under Raise Vehicle - Floor Jack (Mobile Service):
CAUTION To avoid damage, NEVER support the vehicle from diagonal points (for example, LH front and RH rear) at the same time.
Diagonal jacking is too risky for me with that expensive battery pack. Maybe do front to back each side, then lift rear only with two jacks and swap wheels side to side? Can probably get away with only 3 lug nuts in rear wheels after first front to back step and tighten by feel to save time.
Good to know!
I have the standard 19in Gemini / Non Directional Tires) but the manual says to do the cross pattern. What are your thoughts on only going front to back?
I would go with what the manual recommends.
Ahhhhhh 2023
Do you need to program the tpms sensors to the different positions or does the car automatically knows and update?
Car knows.
