Rip off, too expensive
for the hassle, twice as long, and cost, just get a quickjack for the cost of a 5th jack and 1/2 the lift time. It does need more space and lifts much higher.
So glad I invested in a 4 post lift years ago. Its already paid for itself working on other peoples cars and my own over the years. Now even more worth having for my model 3.
That is nice to have but most people don't have the space for that
I agree. The smaller portable lifts are getting cheaper though. Good investment for the racer that tweaks suspension and changes tires a lot.
Ordered my set of 4 today. Received a 20% discount after online chat with company rep 👍
(Most likely a limited time offer connected to Overland Expo happening soon)
500 dollars for the stand? I don't think so. I just take 2 2by 4 and jack them up in the middle and works perfectly
Good jack stand for Tesla owners but little pricey because they are 179$ for the individual stand.
Price up $100 since your video, whoah! Would you ever jack stand and jack the same side or would you go two stands for even height? I was hoping one with a stand and the jack would suffice to rotate tires on the same side front to back
Really impressed by the stiffness of the chassis. No wonder Model 3 drive so much better than other sports cars.
A whole new generation of car enthusiasts is buying Tesla's, learning amazing things about them, and not realizing it just normal car stuff. (yes, many sports cars, even convertibles, you jack up one corner and both wheels on that side come up). And they don't "drive worse" by any measure other than not having instant torque. Which is too bad, I like instant torque. For Tesla's to start competing in the "driving well" space they need to get lighter and/or add limited slips (or torque vectoring) along with more track/sport mode options. Hopefully soon!
Hi-
What is the clearance you have between floor and jack point? The stand and adapter plate appear to take up quite a bit of the available clearance.
The available clearance would be affected by the rim size and tire setup you have, right? What size rim and tire do you have?
What is the width of your floor jack? It obviously has to fit between the legs of the stand. I believe aluminum jacks have a side handle that would interfere with one of the legs.
Thanks.
Thumb up bro... i wanna see your wrap. so I can do too
WHAT IF you try to "drive" the car when it is jacked up? Any warnings???
Juan Giménez why would drive the car when it’s on all 4 jacks?
Road to heaven
For that price you can just buy a set of harbor freight floor jacks hahaha
$225 each on Amazon? Perfectly adequate 3 ton jacks are $189 each from Harbor Freight. I'll just buy two more jacks and be able to do much more that just hold my Tesla's up. What a joke!
These things are way over priced, shame on safe jack for locking in patents (I assume since no other companies offer a properly priced solution) and marking these things up likely 5x (doubt the manufacture cost is > $40).
But there's no way in he'll I'm going to get under a tesla that is only supported by jacks which would drop if the pneumatic sealing fails!!!
so you mentioned the TESLA PLUG.... now, there are some amazon plastic plugs "jack lift point pads"... do you know if the pads will also fit snug on the jack or the stand? i noticed that on the Renn stand has a little hole in the center of the bar... thoughts?
Those jack pads are just for a jack. The Rennstands don't need those because of the plug thing.
You might want to start a marketing business...
Or you can spend $60 and get tesla jack stand adapters that will fit any standard jack stand...
Right, but then where do you put the jack?
@@anthonypalumbo460huh? What do you mean where do you put the jack? You jack it up with the hockey pucks
Your discount code is not working
There is just a slight issue with watching this video.. I don't even own a Tesla.
can you 'drive' it like that? can you film that.. I want to hear what it sounds like lol
Rip off product
Thank you for the video. It helped me but one stand costs about $170. Oh well price gouging ☹️
These jack stands look great and I was about to buy two of them even though they are priced way too high. Then at the buy point, I saw the shipping cost. Ridiculous! I don't mind paying top dollar for a useful product but I won't be ripped off. I'll find another option. Thanks for a great video though!
Love the concept, but the pricing is insane.
My man Brian. That's why I love this channel. I'm always learning something new. Well done brother. You're an asset to the Tesla Community. Great video. Keep it coming
2023, they are now $300 each…. Ouch. I'll have to pass.. i'll keep visiting the shop..
Good Luck - Selling - People work hard for their money set of 4 for $500 way over priced!
Lift the feet to align holes instead of lowering the jack.
was about to buy it, but its $230 per jack.... wtf!
That's nice and all but those two legs of the jack will be in your way while you're trying to work on... the.... muffler... err... never mind.
Nice but, damn $150 for one stand, wtf ?
Do you tho? Do you know you said harbor freight? :) Cool jack stands man...
Nice solution stock heights.
But as soon as you lower your car, be warned, you won’t be able to use those jack stands. There is very little clearance to get the harbor freight jack under my lowered car. I guess you could run the car up on 4x4s or something though..👍
If the car is lowered then you will have to drive it up on a 2x4. Stock ride height has about 1/2 inch clearance. Here is the jack I bought. www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-low-profile-steel-heavy-duty-floor-jack-with-rapid-pump-64264.html
i1Tesla yea, I have that same jack... gotta love HF. 😍
I use these for lowered cars. They work great. www.summitracing.com/parts/rrr-6009-v2?seid=srese1&cm_mmc=pla-google-_-shopping-_-srese1-_-rage-powersport-products&gclid=Cj0KCQiA1sriBRD-ARIsABYdwwFwNgabP58OIR6evoQRET5gD0TlfgohWyPsn4L4m4BdJ-bHoji9ZKoaArGSEALw_wcB
Get ramps. You don't have to improvise with your safety.
What a fucking nightmare.
Any reason not to buy 1 Rennstand, and just use that and a jack on the other lift point to be 'safe enough' for tire changes and brake work? if the jack collapses, the single jack point (if high enough up) should prevent the car from crashing down?
$ 800 For all 4 it is a little bit pricey, it must have another co. Making it, I hope
Wonder how many people will die/class action lawsuits till tesla adds 2 jackpoints on 4 corners so the car can be safely listed with standard jack stands.
I would have bought one but I just found out you can’t rotate the tires on a model X. Great idea and video, thanks.
Those are awesome but 125 each awesome not so sure wait for competitive prices to dive it down
The quality is there
I was wondering about the Jack also and thank you for detailed video. I just think it's way too expensive. $500+ for a set of 4. I can easily get four 3 ton bottle jack with built in stand for
$140 on amazon.
Those wont fit under the car
@@i1Tesla Yes, but you already have a floor jack to raise a wheel, which in turn raise one other wheel since the body is so rigid. Then you can fit a bottle jack to raise it to where you want. Safe jack is great but it's just too expensive for me. And, you're right in that bottle jack stand won't fit by itself.
$800, 00 today Feb 19, 2022
$1000 for 4 jack stands... think I'll look at a QuickJack instead.
I would just buy 2 low profile jacks and jack pad to do them same.
4 pins required for 1 jack stand. LOL ridiculous!!
Not everyone has the clearance around the car to use the jack at a 90-degree angle in their garage
Unnecessary for changing wheels. You don't need a jack stand unless you're going under a car. You're not going under a car to change a wheel.
Could I rent these from you for about a week? Lol. I need jack stands to get my wheels powder coated while I am on vacation and don't want to drop $600 on something I will use once.
Maybe concoct some sort of framework that connects all 4 jack points.
Then jack anywhere on the framework? It's an idea anyway...
Scary as fuk. Car needs to be built well to not bend battery.
I love those jack stands, except one minor detail. That set-up won't fit under a P3D with a flat tire. Test it you'll see. Only like 3 1/2" of ground clearance when lifting with a flat tire. Might work with inflated tire...???!!!
You wont use this to fix a flat tire. You will just use the jack to remove the tire. Also remember the car is super rigid and you could put the jack on the back or front jack point and lift the whole side of the car. Then place the jack stand under and lower the car. That way you are taking the rim and tire to the shop to get fixed.
Two jack stands, one spanner board with a centering rubber bumper. I have what I need, thanks for the idea.
$125 per jackstand? no thank you
I have the model 3 and can save you 10 min if you just get 2 jacks.... ur not gonna be under the car since its a Tesla...you don't need the stands, 3 ton jacks are more than enough. Your wasting so much time. I actually use 2 1.5 ton small jacks and works just fine
that jack stand is so cool, it'd work on my vw golf, too. So many of unibody (and pinch welded ones) also consumes the only jackup points and there are so many tricks to lift the whole car on jack stands.
Interesting product. But to me it is quite kludgy. There is a risk of damaging your car if you are not extra careful lining up pins on a previously installed jackstand (which the car was lifted off of When installing an adjacent corner) when lowering the car. Had I not seen this video in probably would have fu ked up my Tesla with this product.
Great info, I just bought one if these, very nice, I'l probably get a second one for tire rotations.
Ok i am trying to understand the point with these so bear with me.
If you are going to be jacking up one side at a time what is the purpose of those vs a normal puck with a jack for changing your wheels?
I am assuming this is for more permanent jobs where the car needs to stay in the air for longer time (f.e. painting calipers)
I have seen people writing that you might damage the roof glass if you lift one side at a time to change the wheels but this system doesnt really help much with this...
Great video. Three years on do you still recommend as best option for lifting a Mod X? I hear that you must use a low profile jack is that true? Ty!
Brian or anyone , I have a low profile jack but I still don’t think it’s low enough. What’s the height of your jacks deck? Curious how low I need to go.
Cool, was wondering about those jack stands from your last video. Looks like great quality. Price is a bit high for me but I could see paying it if I was going to do any major work on the car. Definitely will be handy for that wrap. Thanks for the video.
Fantastic video!!
thank you. well done, and very helpful to this Tesla (Model Y) newbie who wants to swap/rotate his own wheels/tires.
Haha Brian, love your Vid's Brah! I used to live in CLT. Got a Bro & Sis still there. When I come back to visit them (from TX), I'm gonna have to swing out and catch a Selfie w/ya! lol. But I doubt I'll drive my AWD TM3 out, since... I fly free for American Airlines. ;-)
Everyone is so obsessed with the hole. Just use a block of wood and lift from the jack points like you did with every other car you’ve ever owned.
That is not safe at all.
Lifting a car is unsafe! I repeat, how’s this one any different from your ‘76 Chevy Vega (you know you had one!) ;)
This is 1000X safer then a block of wood
I have a 100% safety record lifting on blocks of wood.
Tesla is unique in that the battery pack can be seriously damaged with standard jacking equipment and procedures.
Now shake the car... as if you’re working on it with a breaker bar!
You don't need a breaker bar much on a Tesla but I changed my brakes out and brake lines. Wheels and wrapped the car with it up on the jacks. got in and out of the car too. no movement. Very large base on the stands
i1Tesla
i would be alittle concerned by the angle the jacks were not sure the ones parallel with the frame rail were correct.
A 6foot 5, giant, Working on cars. Love to see it.
Nice stands, would definitely get them for my Model Y first oil change.
Can you post a link the the floor jack you used in this video? Thanks!
I'm also gunna start running the long Island chapter of TOCNYS...thx
Brian can you send me a PM. I got a wrap done and I want to ask you a question and maybe save you an issue 😁 Thanks
Way overpriced. There are very similar Jacks on Amazon for much less: VKRP Enterprises Safety 3 ton Jack
Thank you for suggestion, looks good, though out of stock on AMZN and any other place Googled (as of Apr 2021)
Quickjack is the best way. Cheaper than paint option.
So simple and brilliant... a small girl could change the tires on a 2 tonne Tesla ;)
fantastic video it explains all thanks
This is cheaper than the other Tesla jack was looking at.
Not really cheap, but genius!!! Thanks for your great service!!!
Love your videos. Sad that all these gimmicks are only sold in USA, so if I want to buy them I have to pay a lot of toll taxes and shipping costs.
But I just want to get them.😏
So thanks for the video. 👍👍👍👍
Wonder what is the steepest angle of attack with that jack and those stands? Having a narrow garage or shared garage space, wondering if this system would be a viable option. At the moment I pay the premium to have others do work on the car.
Thank you so much . You get straight the point without the repatriation of other RUclips tutorials- your information has helped me - your explanation gives me no question of understood knowledgeable details that has helped me - thank you so much
Will a 2 ton jack hold a model 3 sr+?
For simply rotating tires, it looks like two jacks (diagonally) would raise the two corners. Has anyone tried this? The other two diagonal corners would be on their tip toes?
That would work
Great video! Thanks for the info.
I cheaped out and just went with Harbor Fright Jack stands, same exact Jack though! Worked fine to rotate my tires, but to do more extensive work, these would be really nice.
How did you get a Tesla Model 3 on Harbor Freight jack stands? You need to fit the adapter and you only have four lift points.
@@T1Oracle I don't, I lift one side with the jack and place the jackstand on the other point and quickly change tires around.
Can't wait for the video of you wrapping the car! I plan to clear PPF wrap my Model 3 as well. The front looks a bit tricky so have yet to do it. Well, really haven't done it because it is 30 degrees out still. :-) As always take good footage.
PPF is much harder then vinyl
Cool product!! I may have to get these. Thank you for another great video. Very upLIFTING!!
why do you have a plastic floor ?
One of my reasons for buying my Model 3 was not having to jack it up as I would do for my previous cars to change the oil. A long time ago I would do my own brakes as well, and the Prius I had never needed them done, nor will the Tesla for the same reason, regenerative braking and and the fact that I no longer feel the need to ruin my tires with sports car driving like i used to do way back when.
As clever as these jackstands are, I suspect a second set of Harbor Freight cheapies, used with a bar like the one they have with bolt through it and a piece of plywood under would do the same thing doubled up to either side of the jack I already have. The Tesla field service rep. who rotated my tires for me in my driveway showed that the car was so stiff he could do it on each side with just one lift at the back jack point, as your experience showed.
Great idea thanks for showing
I just let the grunts do all this
Brian, we are all waiting for you to show us how to wrap our Tesla M3 . At least for the vital areas.
Me too
that is cool, good idea
What jack do you carry/would you carry to change wheel on a trip?
Road side assistance. No jack on a trip
OMG. You are a freaking savior!!!! I paint correct/ceramic coat a couple model 3s I month. I've been debating buying Quickjacks for months now. You just saved me $1000!!!
Err wait. Didn't realize they were $125 EACH. That's a bit expensive for what they are.
lol i hope u bought quickjack instead cuz they def. worth 1500 dollars lol. dropping 125 per this piece of crap? not worth it
Lick Mike Hunt I got my set with 20% off. So $400 vs $1000+ for quickjacks. I bet if you timed me, I could have a car up on these just as fast as it would take you to get the quickjacks out and setup. Price of crap? Umm you couldn’t be more wrong. The safejacks are very high quality. I
I got these before this vid was posted and I love these. I just needed one for tire rotations on the model 3. Worth the model.
Brilliant! This solves a massive issue with working on any car. I've got pinch rails on my Golf and many people have caved in their floor trying to jack up and get jack stands in incorrectly.
LOVE IT! I want a set of these. Thanks for doing this video, Brian. Cheers! 😃
These are pretty nice. I'd take just one so I can take a wheel off to clean the well out easier.
Sweet! Those are definitely on the Christmas wish list!
Definitely!
Another great video! Thanks!
Please do a tire rotation video with torque specs.
129 pounds. Will add that to the paint caliper video soon
One of many informative videos. Keep up the great work Brian!
Cool jack stand idea for M3.
