    I did a lot of research about tire rotation, what I learned is that how you rotate the tires depends on the type of tired you have , because there is 2 common types of tires directional and non directional, so If your tires are directional you rotate them the same way this gentleman did , which is strait forward front to back and back to front on the same side of the car ,but if your tires are non directional like most tires are you rotate them in a cross pattern meaning front driver side to back passenger side and front passenger side to back driver side and the back driver side to front driver side and the back passenger side to front passenger side and you need to use the star method to tighten the log nuts and torque them according to specs like he did. I don't know much about electric vehicles, though if you should only rotate the tires like he did, it doesn't matter if they are directional or not!!!.

      Yes, that's correct. There are lots of ways to rotate tires. It's always best to go to the owners manual and see what the manufacturer suggests for rotation.

    All you need to do is jack one side up and both wheel will be off the ground. 1inch off ground is all you need. Spend the extra money on impact wrench and a nice 21mm socket.

      You still need at least one jack stand for safety. I have a nice deep socket 21mm, definitely recommended. I have an impact driver and prefer the manual method.

    I'm a big fan of the Rennstand jacks. I particularly like the red powder-coated version sold by Teslarati. Maybe I'll pick some up when I have extra cash on hand. Thanks for the review!

    The jack stands are nice but are more expensive than just buying two jacks.

    Very thorough review! I used mine yesterday to rotate my tires on my Y
    Why install the 2nd Rennstand? The whole side is lifted with just one Rennstand on the back.
    I also bought two Rennstands but I’ve only ever used one so far.
    Just seems like an unnecessary step to add the 2nd stand to me. It’s good for Rennstand because they sell more products.

      Yes, you really only need one. But for best safety, it's not that much more work using two. And of course if you have four of them, lifting the whole car up makes doing cross rotations much easier.

    I ordered one of these and it was defective . It had weld material on one side and the leg would not insert. I don't like that fact you still have run the car up on a boards before you can get it to go under the car and I have model y which is not nearly as low as a model 3

      Sorry to hear there was a problem with the quality. That’s the first I have heard of an issue. Sure, really low cars may have an issue. I’m surprised the Model Y has this issue. My two SUVs have no problem with the height.

    • @MTNRanger
      @MTNRanger  Год назад

      Wow, they must be overtightened! Is this the first time since you bought it? Or did a local place does this?

    • @gammatnt
      @gammatnt Год назад +1

      put a steal pipe over the breaker bar as an extension to give you more leverage.

    • @ctuna2011
      @ctuna2011 3 месяца назад

      You might want to take it to a tires shop . You need and extra long breaker bar on some of the EV's at they are torqued to 140 ft/lbs

    Everything is out of stock. Did they go under?

      They are frequently out of stock. Normal from what I have seen over the last two to three years.

      They redid there factory so they could increase output . I got one last week and sent it back because it was defective. Welding blob where the leg inserts prevented one of the legs from going in . It took them about 6 months to get things started again.

    The cost is excessive in my opinion. I’d feel like a rape victim if I’d bought these. But that is just me, others may find it more than reasonable to make this purchase. To each their own.
    Thank you for the time and effort to make the video and inform us!

    • @MTNRanger
      @MTNRanger  2 года назад +1

      Yes, they are not cheap, and the price increase over what I paid doesn’t help either. But safety does have a price. It’s all relative, some people spend thousands on a lift in their garage. Other people would rather have a shop do it for them.

      @@smoak888 For me it took six days. I ordered them from Safejack, so I'm not sure if the new website delivers that same way.

      I agree, I think the only reason these are so expensive is because they have the patent and can demand high prices. I bet Harbor Freight could sell these for around $50 each if they were allowed to. I need jackstands for my S Plaid not for tire rotation but because I want to change out the diffuser and do a wrap on the rocker panels, so I need four jacks. Ebay sells an adapter for standard floor jacks about $60 each so I think I can get away with needing two, possibly one of the Rennstands. I have a while to think about it since the new diffuser won't get to me until Dec.

      $180 each stand? $360 for two of them. You have to be joking. There are far cheaper alternatives with built in jacks.
