Gilbert & Jessica's tiny home was built by Nomad Tiny Homes out of Austin for $68,000. They then relocated to the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California with the goal of creating an off-grid homestead. But their hopes were shattered when they received a visit from code enforcement. Fortunately, they were able to sell their land for a profit and then found a fully legal, beautiful corner lot in a mobile home park.

You know how you can tell that tiny house living is great? It's the soft acoustic guitar music that always plays when you're walking up to one.
Things happen for a reason. After having a tree demolish our home and neighbors being there within 2 minutes to help us, I have been much more appreciative of neighbors close by and less concerned about my need for privacy. With yall becoming parents, I really think it was a blessing in disguise that your initial place didn't work out. Wishing you all the best with your newest blessing, River.

I love that huge orange tabby! I just adore fat cats lol. You can tell by how chill the cat and dog both are that they are very content and well taken care of. Love the house too. Haha

Wise young couple. I love the idea of tiny homes and it's 1,000 times better than having to live in an apartment, I would still find it hard not having my own land. Hopefully they can eventually move this to their own land and if they want, be able to add an addition or something like a garden shed/workshop. So good to be planning on only a 10 year mortgage. My husband and I feel blessed to find a foreclosure that lets us go mortgage free after the sale of our last home. After building 3 homes we wish we had done this much younger.
My daughter’s favorite toy was a wooden spoon and stainless steel bowl. Beautiful family, enjoy making memories!

That ginger cat is so humongously big. So gorgeous as well, got to be a Tom - luv him. When Rivers older, you can say he’s the fall cat instead of a traditional black Halloween one, because his coat compliments fall colours❤️. The dogs real cute too with those melting brown eyes: going to be a great family

what I love about tiny houses is that you live as a minimalist.
Actually you don't have too. I've seen some with lots of bookshelves for book collections or shelves for gaming stuff. Not to forget the closets for lots of clothes

Babies need love, nourishment and warmth. Baby rooms are more for the parents than the babies. (And to store all the unnecessary stuff). My daughter has a large bassinet (the one we kept her in as a baby) but ended up co-sleeping with their baby. They only need a few toys and will enjoy more playing outside making forts and running around. I loved your tiny house and dog Biscuit (perfect name for him!). Your philosophy of living with just what you need is great. I can only imagine the pain of not being able to stay on your land in your yurt. You bounced back and recovered really well. Maybe you can look toward buying land again and moving your tiny there one day, if you want to. But there is a lot to be said for living in a community with great neighbors. Great job. 💗🙏🏻✝️😀

Guys I must say this is THE BEST Tiny Home video I have seen on this site yet. Your builders sounds like they were great, helpful and sensible - are you allowed to advertise their name??. Yours is the first tiny home I have seen with smoke detectors in the bedroom or anywhere else. The first with a fire extinguisher, the first to mention helping you with a loan and the first to mention helping you with insurance...well done to your builders.
I love the décor of your tiny home. It certainly sounds like your previous site in the wilderness was a bit scary...you certainly fell on your feet when you found your current site. It looks peaceful and beautiful. I can see River in her backpack checking out those mountain views very soon. All the best for the future to your little family and may I be the first to wish you all a very merry first Christmas as a family. Could I suggest self adhesive carpet (you can buy carpet squares about 1 1/2 foot square, just cut them in half) on your stairs so nobody has a fall with a baby in their arms nor a baby falling down those stairs. Ok. Before I decided to post I read thru (most) of the comments to be sure someone else hadn’t already said this. But I had to laugh at the notion of leaving Austin and going to California when the reverse is usually what happens. But it looks doable going the tiny house route. Congratulations on being able to swing it. I’m looking at a retirement solution and I have saved this video because there is so much more information besides a tour of your home. Thank you so much!
