Myamsar is a pretty strange option. Having 2 weapon slots you get a lot of damage types at once, and being naturally fast they attack many times per cycle. Though their hero mode is near useless and set skill slots are hard to get
News most likely you already heard about this but Project Jabborwocky the "Patapon" Spiritual Successor in works. Also it's Fighting Rhythm similar to Patapon but would change alot(Obviously). Instead also in land, It's Patapon but Boats another thing to note about it's stages are straight like patapon. Kotani and Adachi would be working on it so yeah(LET'S GO). Another side note they also have discuss that the game would be the more artistic one compared to Patapon which is to make it cooler one.
@@Harrazel Tbh I also felt the same where they just left us with 3 and wanting a 4th one to be having the Ultimate version DLC of it all like Monster Hunter Ultimate, Iceborne, or basically it's expanded more cooler version. And as I think many people would agree on this but you can only use the same formula on how many times, but I do well also agree that Patapon can have a final 4th game as ending the franchise in which basically fix all the problems the previous games have and basically make it the best of all(Which honestly 3 failed to do so or to be the "Ultimate" of it all). Still this is my favourite game in the trilogy even after watching all of your retrospective videos on it. Great content btw
@@HarrazelNow that it was announced as "Ratatan" im in some part happy but also worried. At least it would expand in the army system of the first two games, but seeing that in the kickstarter they priorized the online mode over the console ports... weeeeell.... i dont want to criticize the game before release, but i never was as happy and worried at the same time with a videogame release in the past. Graphics and music would be 10/10 like always, but we still dont know how the game would play (seems like Patapon but it probably be very different in terms of rhythm. Thats why i never preorder games.
@sebastianaliandkulche honestly i think it's a good sign that online was a stretch goal in general, shows that they'll focus on the singleplayer being the main part of the game as it should be
@@Harrazel Yeah, but idk why they put it before the console ports which would probably take less effort. Im still hyped for this game i guess, just i would go with a bit of caution.
If its campaing mode have more variety, the minigames returned, a better story and the grinding and difficult curve wasnt so broken i would actually loved Patapon 3 more than 2. In its higher points is excellent, possible even better than Patapon 2, but in its lowest points, honestly, its pretty much terrible. The developers however focused on the multiplayer aspect of the game, but i always say that a game shouldnt never focus on multiplayer because when the servers are down the game just would lose everything. I respect however the people who like this game, you know, it has some really strong points and i can understand that, but in my mind is my least favorite on the series, in fact, i dont think is good at all. Pd: 0:58 Well, i think that Patapon 2 deserves a 9, or at least is much more deserved than Patapon 1 and 3.
I haven't watched the video yet but already i wanted to say that I loved these retrospective videos of yours. Patapon games were my childhood (I even bought the remaster of 2) and I love that there are finally highly detailed videos about these games. As I said i haven't watched it yet, but I assume you did criticise the amount of grinding you have to do to unlock decent class and set skills. Personally I never experienced the multiplayer but I heard it was super fun, but its dumb that without multiplayer or DLC you couldn't get your units past level 32. Even with DLC, it would come down to replaying the 50 cyclops mission over and over because the rest was too hard.
Another issue I had were the difficulty spikes - for some reason Tower of Purity is really fucking difficult sometimes, but all archfiend bosses after Kanogias are piss easy due to how strong your units get
I wanted to like Patapon 3 so much. Like I loved 1 and 2 so god damn much, but 3 was some middle school bully that the teachers and the entire student body kissed the ground he walked upon. I hated the way the drums sound, while the songs were good, I hated the way they changed the voice of the patapons who do the background chanting. The entire thing just sent the series crashing down and I refuse to acknowledge the game even exists outside of the music. I didn't have friends growing up so I figured that's why I didn't care too much about the Multiplayer. I really wish they stuck to the same system 1 and 2 had, but actually fixed issues 2 had.
My biggest problem with the third game is that alot of the content is locked behind online/multiplayer. When the online services eventually shuts down those contents are lost forever. Some missions, especially the DLCs are also impossible to complete without multiplayer. And the grinding is somehow even FAR worse than the second game, which is quite the achievement. But atleast in Patapon 2 you can have an entire army of trees to be more efficient at it. Also, I agree so much about berserk mode. Imagine slowly chipping down the HP of a boss and when they're finally low, you get instantly stat-checked. Absolute garbage. Overall, Patapon 2 is still the better one imo.
i once heard an argument FOR rage mode which said that WITHOUT it a boss is just a stat-check, i don't know if the person who said that has a learning disability or not
you can't really get them on actual hardware anymore, unless you go on the ps store through a ps3/vita or you get them on there yourself by downloading them on your pc and putting them on your psp (again fuck sony)
Best way to summorise the game is that it's a good idea but medicore execution. This game could've been so much better, even if the multiplayer functional to this day somehow, it's where most of the good stuff is locked. I really feel like the direction they were going was mostly a multiplayer experience but they realised that most people probably don't have a PS+ to play with others so they made the whole campaign an offline experience but you can clearly see they intended you to grind for even better items with friends.
online on sony consoles did not require ps+ before the ps4. however, considering how it's supposed to be for a portable console, it's still very stupid how they made it so reliant on online for any good content
30:35 khe khe in the DESCRIPTION of the mission Gallant but Helpless it is said that Ragewolf RUN and this is said in both versions of the translation. ALL dont see this.
It's nice to see someone talk about Patapon recently since I never met anyone who liked/knew this series. I liked this game alot, but I just wished it wasn't so built around multiplayer. Since nowadays I can't get to level 40. Also no dlc on the vita made it worse. Patapon 2 was my introduction into the series, and it was soo good. It's funny how I played the games from 2-3-1, since I sucked at Patapon 1. Thanks for talking about Patapon. Also I thought the Archfiends were really cool, even though they didn't do anything.
Just watched your reviews, they are pretty good, the jokes, visualsand commentary were really cool, and I didn't know patapon 3 had a modding comunity so tahnks for showing it off!
Patapon 3 is great. only if they didn't really focus on darn multiplayer... And with the God on Earth, why is hatapon even needed? That darn eyeball is primary reason why I always restart a darn level.... Speaking of level, the game will start to get boring because of EXP leveling system. You cant earn xp on lower level mission which means you either play on previous map that gives lower xp the higher the difference between recommended level of the map vs the lvl of the unit which will eventually end up "repeating" a single mission...
i'm surprised that they thought naughtyfins doing and saying suggestive things was ok but not that one cutscene in the previous game. and this game was targeted towards children as it's rated E despite the E10 rating having already been invented in 2005 and this game came out in 2011. and they somehow managed to get away with keeping the game rated E.
Hey don't do my Charibasa dirty like that. Undeniably, he's the only class that you have to invest a lot of class skills to make him function properly but he becomes extremely versatile in the long run. My level 31 Charibasa only needed to inherit 5 spears of Yarida and only up until the second class skills of the rest of his benefactors but he's still devastating in the field. Able to support, tank some hits, heal, and deal hundreds of thousands of damage, I can say he's the perfect class.
I really wanted to say some of the missions you were talking about weren't hard in the slightest, then I realized that's not a tondenga lol Also I miss being able to fight reasonably leveled bosses without having to go through entire dungeons, wait 100+ missions for sukopon to finally spot them, or having them go rage mode and just make you have to do this all over again... but that's just one thing on a list :/ Multiplayer was amazing while it lasted though
Somehow you can still do the dungeon with ragewolf and then super weapon even though he is "killed" by the other dark heroes. I believe that they just banished him to eternaly fight in thag dungeon with the patapon army till he kills them with the super weapon.
I loved Patapon 2. Played the demo of the 1 and 2 to death until I got the full games. I remember spamming the end of the demo (some Karmen mission idk) and trying my hardest to get rare items. Then I played Patpaon 3 and although it was grindy, I loved it just as much.
I've been attempting to max out my patapon 3 save on psp (unlock all class skills, max level all classes and get all or a majority of the gear) and it is a slog The only classes i have maxed out are cannogabang because of my actual playthrough, jamsch for peerless mushroom and wooyari because he's broken Its been extremely tough to find which classes to train when and im pretty sure the cyclops race is near extinction already It's gonna be really tough and probably not very rewarding but i'm gonna have to keep at it Atleast the musics good Edit:i should also mention im doing this alone Im forced to cheese multiplayer dungeons using tondenga or another uberhero in order for the better treasures
I dunno, I actually really enjoyed Patapon 3 as a whole, obviously the singleplayer campaign has probably the worst formula for gameplay, since its repetitive (2 field missions followed by an arena and dungeon) and the balancing is horrible for single player, but they nailed the multiplayer part of the game. It's always fun, even with total randoms. I can't help but love this part the most out of the 3. The best parts about this game are the songs and overall graphic design for sure, even the Uberhero designs that many people not like as much, because they look nothing like other Patapons, but the masks designs are top tier, same is true for equipment and minibosses. But yeah the way they handled dungeons is bad, 0/10
the multiplayer in patapon 3 is, infact, a fun experience. the music? fantastic. visuals and designs? beautiful. but the main game just ruins all of that for me, hence why i don't really like this game as a whole. literally everything else is at the very least okay, but they just HAD to fuck up the campaign SO FUCKING MUCH.
@@Erspel i guess in a way the focus on multiplayer prolonged the game's lifespan. if it was as singleplayer-focused as the previous two, i don't think people would be playing it as much or making god damn MODS for it, still not worth it though imo.
@@Harrazel Thats true, and i agree with what you said in the review that a poor multiplayer would never excuse a bad single player, but also because is a PSP game. PSP games should be able to be fun in any moment especially because is well, portable. I have this game on real hardware and honestly, this game shouldnt released here. There are not many good online games on the PSP honestly.
As a patapon fan. I loved this video. I don't remember the tree fiasco only the golem fucker shitty ass game oh i beat it by luck well now i can play fiasco. I never could enjoy the full paragon 3 experience because i was a dumb fucking kid and didn't use my multiplayer code so i never could play online. That made me look at the campaign as the game and i liked it with the exception of that one fucking enemy. Patapon 2 is still the best in my opinion.
I remember playing this game a long time ago, when I got stuck to that FFFFUCKING GIANT ICE GOLEM, I was like, "oh damn I didn't play well", and after watching this I realize nah the game is just a floppy, but no matter how flawed this game is, I still play it, maybe it's the desire of getting stronger is satisfying idk why I couldn't stop playing it
Now how do i explain i only play singleplayer, no dlc, and im currently trying to level up all the heroes and upgrade all of the class skills... O yeah, by saying im crazy
at 3:03 is 32 the limit? no... is it hard to get above that? yeah.... Tbh I think patapon 2 is peak performance, but I'll gladly admit I have spent more time on 3. Than I ever will on 2. that being said, my psp has been broken since 2015... and I use ppsspp and transferred my data.
I have noticed you still respond to comments on this video, so while not entirely related to Patapon 3 I think this is a pretty good place to ask. I’m sure you’ve heard of Ratatan, the spiritual successor to the Patapon franchise with the creator & music composer reprising their roles, & im curious on your thoughts on it so far? *also sorry for the long ass comment lol*
i tried to merely be optimistic at the beginning and not get my hopes up too much, though with how fast the kickstarter hit its initial goal that changed very much! i'm pretty hyped for it but one thing that is a little worrying is that it advertises itself as a rouge-like and honestly i don't really enjoy any rouge-like that much aside from isaac, but aside from that all seems well so far
Personally, unlike many people who say it's a bad thing, it didn't bother me that much, mainly because there was a lot more customization compared to Patapon 1 and 2. Although the large amount of customization is useless anyway, when the balance of the different classes is a mess.
@sebastianali extremely late response but: i wouldn't have been bothered the 4-man army if it wasn't for hatapon being tied to chin (who dies a lot). it would've been better if they tied him to the uberhero and made hatapon vulnerable whenever your hero was absent could've led to situations where you need to wager between using a summon to make sure hatapon is invulnerable RIGHT NOW or taking the risk of hatapon being able to die in one hit but saving a summon
at first i was confused with your rate for the game, but then i heard this hilarious story about skill issue at first and then cheesing at the end, good video man
Thanks a lot. This was a great video. This game's gameplay mechanics are awesome but the level design is ABSOLUTELY RETARDED the game seems designed by a number generator or some shit. The monsters seem completely chosen at random and some, like the golem, are INSANELY OP! Way more difficult than the main bosses Also, the balance is total bullshit. At about level 8, I got a giant pike called Giant cedar tree +4 or some shit, which completely broke the game!!!! I used that thing until the end and with Wooyari, you could do 100k+ damage in a single pon pata.
Hello wanted to ask if you used an emulator, how did you play multiplayer? Me and a friend wanted to play patapon 3 so bad together but we barely find guides online on how to do it
if you still wanna get the dlc on your psp you can either put them on there yourself if your psp is hacked, or you can do it like me and get them on a console that still has access to the legacy store (ps3/ps vita) and then download on your psp i think there's also a chrome plugin that allows you to access the legacy store, but i haven't tried that

Oh god... The patapon franchise reminds me of the anime, Darling in the Franxx... Where it starts good and ends in shambles.
Another side note they also have discuss that the game would be the more artistic one compared to Patapon which is to make it cooler one.
on one hand, yay new game from the patapon guys; on the other, they did leave us with patapon 3 so i don't know what to expect honestly
Nice review ngl...I just felt like listening to patapon songs but came for a review trilogy
i still love this game, but i think we can all agree that golems here are trash
Yeah, also some trees and the dragons.
Another issue I had were the difficulty spikes - for some reason Tower of Purity is really fucking difficult sometimes, but all archfiend bosses after Kanogias are piss easy due to how strong your units get
yea pretty much nailed what i talked about, glad you enjoyed them

Overall, Patapon 2 is still the better one imo.
i once heard an argument FOR rage mode which said that WITHOUT it a boss is just a stat-check, i don't know if the person who said that has a learning disability or not
Patapon 3 is so bad, that's its just comedy gold. I was laughing for the entire video, because all this is so relatable and hilarious
oh, didn't expected you here.
44:25 dlc hunting missions? what did i miss? how have i not known about this?
you can't really get them on actual hardware anymore, unless you go on the ps store through a ps3/vita or you get them on there yourself by downloading them on your pc and putting them on your psp (again fuck sony)
11:49 Jumpscared me :( I was falling asleep.
my fault crewmate
@@Harrazel It's ok the vid was good atleast.
@@Harrazel I actually didn't know about the online thing being free as I had the PSP version without the Internet connection so it sucked quite a lot.

Just watched your reviews, they are pretty good, the jokes, visualsand commentary were really cool, and I didn't know patapon 3 had a modding comunity so tahnks for showing it off!
i mean, if you're ever gonna re-experience patapon 3 for some unknown reason, you better do it the right way, no?
oh and thanks
I love 2 but 3 is not bad. I think it is really good. And i like this. P2 is still best but 3 i cant get mad on it.
Good for you
Patapon 3 is great. only if they didn't really focus on darn multiplayer...
I remember playing this at 10 years old and one shotting pandara with my denga, lmao.
I agree with pretty much everything, but man... I still love this game with every fiber of my being.
i'm surprised that they thought naughtyfins doing and saying suggestive things was ok but not that one cutscene in the previous game. and this game was targeted towards children as it's rated E despite the E10 rating having already been invented in 2005 and this game came out in 2011. and they somehow managed to get away with keeping the game rated E.
I really wanted to say some of the missions you were talking about weren't hard in the slightest, then I realized that's not a tondenga lol Also I miss being able to fight reasonably leveled bosses without having to go through entire dungeons, wait 100+ missions for sukopon to finally spot them, or having them go rage mode and just make you have to do this all over again... but that's just one thing on a list :/ Multiplayer was amazing while it lasted though
the fact the bosses somehow passed playtesting hurts me the most
Somehow you can still do the dungeon with ragewolf and then super weapon even though he is "killed" by the other dark heroes.
I believe that they just banished him to eternaly fight in thag dungeon with the patapon army till he kills them with the super weapon.
My god, 11 years has passed, huh?

I loved Patapon 2. Played the demo of the 1 and 2 to death until I got the full games. I remember spamming the end of the demo (some Karmen mission idk) and trying my hardest to get rare items. Then I played Patpaon 3 and although it was grindy, I loved it just as much.

I've been attempting to max out my patapon 3 save on psp (unlock all class skills, max level all classes and get all or a majority of the gear) and it is a slog
The only classes i have maxed out are cannogabang because of my actual playthrough, jamsch for peerless mushroom and wooyari because he's broken
Its been extremely tough to find which classes to train when and im pretty sure the cyclops race is near extinction already
It's gonna be really tough and probably not very rewarding but i'm gonna have to keep at it
Atleast the musics good
Edit:i should also mention im doing this alone
Im forced to cheese multiplayer dungeons using tondenga or another uberhero in order for the better treasures
it took me 2 months to get past on that giant golem using destrobo class 🤣🤣🤣
@@Harrazel Yeah, it almost feels like they rushed it and/or neglected it until the end of development.
There are not many good online games on the PSP honestly.

Hello I want to mention that the class you chose is way easier on the series of levels that end in the final boss of patapon 2
*also sorry for the long ass comment lol*
i tried to merely be optimistic at the beginning and not get my hopes up too much, though with how fast the kickstarter hit its initial goal that changed very much! i'm pretty hyped for it but one thing that is a little worrying is that it advertises itself as a rouge-like and honestly i don't really enjoy any rouge-like that much aside from isaac, but aside from that all seems well so far
i wanna talk about it a little more in a patapon sort of "bonus video" but i'm currently waiting on patafour 1.2 to release for that to happen
Funfact with mage boi as the last patapon and cannonbang as the uber the game makes golems and anything else a joke
I have never even played Patapon 3 and I dont like that I dont have an army to command
the 4-man army idea wasn't THAT bad, it was just executed very poorly imo.
@@Harrazel I can see that from the gameplays haha
Personally, unlike many people who say it's a bad thing, it didn't bother me that much, mainly because there was a lot more customization compared to Patapon 1 and 2. Although the large amount of customization is useless anyway, when the balance of the
different classes is a mess.
@sebastianali extremely late response but: i wouldn't have been bothered the 4-man army if it wasn't for hatapon being tied to chin (who dies a lot). it would've been better if they tied him to the uberhero and made hatapon vulnerable whenever your hero was absent
could've led to situations where you need to wager between using a summon to make sure hatapon is invulnerable RIGHT NOW or taking the risk of hatapon being able to die in one hit but saving a summon
at first i was confused with your rate for the game, but then i heard this hilarious story about skill issue at first and then cheesing at the end, good video man

Super sentai ranger time
Thanks a lot.
