    I love that tip about buying 3 or 6!
    I think buying small amounts every year allows us try different wines from different chateaus in Bordeaux which I love but can also be expensive e.g first growths.
    I’ve stuck to buying 3-6 bottles of some super seconds to enjoy in 20+ years time

    I’m about 6 years into the 1200 bottle cellar I built. I wish this channel existed back then. While I did get the tip to build a cellar larger than I needed, But over filled it with wines that sort of fell out of favor with my pallet. I made the mistake of buying by the case....I figured I had the space so why not. I like your tip to limit case purchases. I think it makes sense for Blue chip wines...or cellar defender wines that I can drink every night, but I wasn’t thinking that way earlier in my cellar development. Love to get your opinion on buying and selling wine at auction.

In the wine business since 1990 and I have tried and experienced so so so many corked bottles of Beaucastel that it's difficult to suggest cellaring it. Absolutely think Cellartracker is worth it. I know what it's like to buy too much of one or two things. Too much Bordeaux, especially from 2003-09 vintages, and too much Barolo from same era. I need to buy a wider variety of wines such as Loire, Alsace, Chianti, Mosel and draw down my collection as my drinking window (i.e., my lifespan) is likely twenty years. This is an issue for all of us seniors.

    • @AttorneySomm

    What will be the score to be considered as top vintage? 95 and up, or must have one of two 100s from the expert reviews, for investment collections, those scores are still most important, right?

    • @AttorneySomm
      @AttorneySomm  Год назад +1

      Scores can certainly be useful, but are not necessary most important. For example, with Burgundy 100 point scores are rare and producer is most important. Also be wary of Suckling scores as he has lots more high scores and dozens of 100 pointers each year. But certainly for Bordeaux if RP and JD give 99-100 point scores, that is a very promising wine.
