I worked in the body shop since 1980... Great memories and sanding forever... and EVER but when we did, we'd always sing the song by Dee Snyder and Twisted Sister.. but change the words a little .. I WANNA BLOCK !!.. I WANT TO BLOCK !! insert your air guitar and background noises as necessary
As someone who only gets to paint a project around once in 5 years or so, I forget a lot of thing's every time and have to relearn how things go in real time, don't get old folk's, anyway thanks for the video, it reminded me of masking techniques that hopefully will be used again in the future.
Would love to see the paint outside in the sun... Awesome idea painting the stripes rather than using a decal stripe kit... Am i missing something via im not seeing any stripes down on the bottom of the two tone job?
if you still had orange peel after all that, your surface wasnt clean before you started, you had your sweaty hands on it too much, or your air presure was too low on the gun, or last but not least, you need more reducer in the primer.
Going from the epoxy to the high build primer, was there any sanding? Or is it a "recoat window" thing? Does the build primer adhear chemically without sanding as long as it's done in a certain amount of time? Great video.
Because after a certain year, I forget, both trucks came down basically the same assembly line. C mean two wheel drive and K means four wheel drive. Some just say c/k

Nicely done boys haven’t seen a square body look that good since back in the day when they rolled out the factory!
Great project and really liked the tutorial on the steps of proper sanding so keep the AWESOME videos coming.
I've been driving my two tone '86 K10 since I took it off the lot in 1986, and I approve this video!!
You guys are amazing... 200 hours
Never underestimate the value of a good body and paint guy.
Fantastic job! That should be a honest to goodness show stopper.
Ole girl is looking good. Can't wait to see the final product
That deep blue color is sick! Loved seeing the process and all the tips/tricks.
Believe me, you aren't the only person in the world who loves sanding! It's very meditative.
Man 200 hours that’s some dedication. Definitely a fine art
Nice paint. It looks like the custom paint job that my best friend's dad laid down on his '79---in 1984!

Great work! I wouldn’t even be able to put the tape on correctly 😂.

Great colour
Brilliant content, keep it up. 😊
Beautiful!! All that hard work really paid off!!
Very nice work!
This makes me so anxious about redoing my truck 😬
I had an '88 GMC 2500 with that same paint scheme.
That’s the best color combo the square bodies had.
YOU ARE THE BEST BRO
Very nice! Looks great!

Superb.
Polycarbonate wheel is what I use, even the Harbor Freight version does a great job getting down to bare metal.
Ice cream paint job right there
👍👍👍

Most likely gun setting...but in all reality its not that bad and normally you wet sand and polish after anyways so its not an issue at all...
I know that pin stripes and 2 tone paint is period correct , But I much prefer a solid colour .
Do you prep the surface before you lay the second color on?
Good

So by 200 hours you say? That means that’s probably about a $13,000-$25,000 paint job depending on how much the shop charges per hour at $85-$125.
Yep. Plus materials.
What about flap disc
To bad all the yahoo's selling the ole square body for more than most ruled off of the dealer lot for.
In body shop time how much would that be in money.?????
Average body/restoration shop charges $100/hour so 20-30k for a decent paint job isn’t too far fetched these days
With CHEVROLET "naming" their truck series "C prefix", why didn't the GMC Division just use the "G-prefix" as in G-10? 🤔
Because after a certain year, I forget, both trucks came down basically the same assembly line. C mean two wheel drive and K means four wheel drive. Some just say c/k
Ok Chevrolet and GMC merged in 1918 and then in 1943 general motors completed the purchase of GMC.
"G" is for van platforms on GMs.
I see why body work is so expensive
Why so meny steps.??????
Thats what's neccessary for a good paint job
No matter how well you can lay down paint, it will look awful without all the prep work. Think of a house being only as good as its foundation.
Hello sir I need a work I want to work with you please give me a chance 😊
finally someone actually painting those ugly square bodies . . .
