Yes, I saw The CC and I found it to be a fascinating documentary. Such a shame that for decades, the gay community had no voice in Hollywood. Thankfully, times have changed for the better.
Been checking out some of these old shows. Thank you for uploading! Good lord, some of the shit movies that these dudes had to sit through. We got to just get up and leave or turn off the television. They were paid well though at least. RIP Gene and Roger, the 2 best ever.
Have you seen the episode where they review Black Sheep? Siskel walked out on it - a rare one for him as he felt critics should stay for the whole picture as a matter of professionalism. He looks giddy-happy on the show - finally having saved himself an hour and a half rather than sit through another inane flick. (I'm just talking about Siskel's opinion, not my taste - I haven't even seen Black Sheep - so if you're reading this and you're a Chris Farley fan, don't start chewing me out).
Yeah Scarlet Letter is maybe the worst adaptation of all time. My English teacher even showed us the ending in class to show how movies can ruin literature and completely miss the point. Jade is really bad but Linda Florentino is super hot. To bad it isn't more erotic, really just a snooze fest. David Crusoe starring in anything is like maybe the biggest warning sign that a movie is going to be terrible.
I agree with you. This movie start the decline of Demi Moore 's career. It made the classic a piece of trash 🗑 Jade is a awful movie. A movie that is supposed to be exotic and is sexless.
Hard to believe there was a time when Dr. Strangelove was in danger of being destroyed. These days, that Kubrick film is often being resissued multiple times on the same format. Too bad many lesser known films like the works of King Vidor don't receive even half that attention.
@@cherylhulting1301 I would like to think that script he got was brilliant then executives started meddling with it. That's often the case or he simply needed the money.
11:18 - "If you could answer every question You'd still end up with a worthless story." - Gene Siskel being savage.
Their review of celluloid closet is excellent.

Especially when they said "other minorities could use this film as a template"!

Same
Dan, it's ebert.
R.I.P. Richard Crenna.
Siskel = _"I DON'T WATCH BAD MOVIES FOR FUN!!!"_ Hahaha
He would have hated RUclips.
I so miss this show, those times. Nothing makes sense now. Movies are horrible now.

The scarlet letter with Demi Moore remains one of the worst adaptations of all time. Completely missed the point of the original novel
I agree 💯! It's silly 😜!
I know that's right, this film was and still is embarrassing from the start
How come nobody blames Gary Oldman? Everything about that film was awful
10:43 - Ebert, the classic movie LAURA did the same mistake. Nobody could identify that the dead woman (spoiler alert) wasn't Laura?
Why did Gene throw shade at Jim Jarmusch at 13:58? Jarmusch has had a lot of funny and excellent films.
Love Jim jarmusche
R.I.P Jim Jarmusch.
?
jj is still around. apparently the dead dont die...
My reviews: out of 5
1 " The Scarlet Letter " 1.5 out of 5 👎
2 " Jade " 2 out of 5 👎
The Scarlet Letter👎 1/2 star out of 4
Jade ⭐️👎
That movie partially ruined Demi moore career
Jade is GREAT!!!👍👍👍
What the fuck did Oldman see in the script of the Scarlet Letter to star in it?
Right? How such an actor ended up in this outrageously bad adaptation is mind boggling.

19:45 - 'The Scarlet Letter': 👎👎, 'The Celluloid Closet': 👍👍, 'Jade': 👎👎, 'Blue in the Face': 👎👎, 'Les Miserables': 👍👍
Even in a crappy movie Gary Oldman shines...
Jade is awful!
