"A very large lizard causes a great deal of inconvenience while trying to lay some eggs in Madison Square Garden." a superior writer like Roger Ebert can _completely_ rip apart a thing he WANTS to rip apart without ever actually saying anything _negative_ or BAD about it. here he's simply stating the plot, only doing so with very carefully chosen words to make it sound absolutely ridiculous. THAT is hilarious. that's the reason he's the best film critic of all time. he's hilarious, witty, devastating when he wants to be, and even _sly_ when he is sometimes. THAT is good criticism. without ever actually firing a shot or even revealing his opinion yet, he takes the film apart.
Love the ending when we see Gene's empty chair when he asks if anyone has tried to sit in his seat. Nobody did until the next year when he went on leave and they started to have fill in hosts and he died right at the beginning of that.
FYI, the description reads that this is from 1997. All of these movies are from 1998 and Ebert said he came back from the 51st Cannes Festival, which was in 1998.
I couldn't watch this classic show in 97 or 98 bc I get sad seeing siskel deteriorate knowing he will die soon. But I decided to bc I love these guys & I liked a lot of movies from 97 & 98. These two launched literally a million review shows on the internet. True originals. The only thing I remember about bulworth was the hit song " ghetto superstar" that was played over & over but in these times of politics in our faces & the divide of them sounds like a good movie to watch. I remember people loving hunter s Thompson for gonzo journalism & Godzilla was a big bomb. In 97 I only went to see movies like jerry Maguire, scream 2 , titanic. A lot of great movies came out in the 90s the last decade of originality.
That's a lot of fish! Mayor Ebert and his sidekick Gene was Roland Emmerlich's slam at S & E for giving thumbs down to all his movies. He should've went all the way by having the monster squish them.

it's really really interesting that they gave any credence to the fat, disgusting "Mayor Ebert" character and his nerdy, ridiculous "Gene" bootlick. it was an embarrassing nincompoop trying to take cheap, lazy potshots at two giants of film history. Roland Emmerich will always be (in)famous for making _Independence Day,_ though he'll never be close to the same immense standard of respect these two guys enjoy. i really liked how self-aware they were, though - they even _wanted_ to see their flimsy filmic doppelgangers get stepped on, because they assumed that's what audiences _wanted_ to see. which was probably, at that time, very accurate.
It's funny when Siskel asks when will a real Bulworth ever appear on the American political scene, and if he did the media would ignore him. Well, it took until 2016 when Vermont Senator and presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders, exploded onto the political scene, and true to Gene Siskel's word, the media tried to ignore him.
Bulworth is an extension of my political leanings to this day. In fact, when I become President, I will institute a program of procreative racial deconstruction.
Nah, as someone who proudly voted for Trump, he is just another globalist stooge (controlled opposition). He gave in on Corona, going against small businesses. He went against the people’s right to bear arms with the bump stock ban. The wall is still not built. The anchor babies are still here.
