I love Lars. I know he's not the best, but he's the best for Metallica. Nobody could replace him.

Lars is in his mid-50s, there are plenty of cats still playing at that level at his age. he's lazy and over charges for concerts so no reason to expect anything less. he should retire if he can't play the parts he wrote.

You do realize that Lars wrote these Drums, along with other brilliant drums like master of puppets. That requires talent that not all good drummers have.
My kid started playing Metallica song on drums at 12. They're not that brilliant or difficult at all. Ill give Lars credit for two things. Not overplaying the songs and doing enough that it fits the music.

The drum producer/percussion teacher in the recording studio is the hidden gem behind Larz drum patterns and playing.
