Lady with the gardenia in her hair sang the blues as she lived it in her own bluesy & saturating voical sound. With such a traumatic life story there could only be one awesome Billie Holiday.😢 ❤❤❤R.I.P. Ms. Lady day
I heard this song when I was 14, a little white girl and living in Europe. The lyrics hit like a punch in the gut and I started to cry. I suddenly saw the horror of racism. People, we've gotta recognize that every group has been persecuted one way or the other. We need to start being kind and taking care of each other.
I'm sure it was as sad & as traumatizing to actually see it as well. She sang it with a heart of painfullness just as she witnessed it. Heart wrenching.😢
She is a really courageous woman. In those days it was very dangerous to perform such lyrics. She did manage to overcome this just to make the world become sensitive about coloured peoples' problems
Southern trees bear strange fruit, Blood on the leaves and blood at the root, Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze, Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees. Pastoral scene of the gallant south, The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth, Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh, Then the sudden smell of burning flesh. Here is fruit for the crows to pluck, For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck, For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop, Here is a strange and bitter crop.
'Blood At The Root' by Patrick Phillips is a Nonfiction read NOT to be MISSED! 🎯👀 I also recommend 'Emmett Till' by Devery S. Anderson. "Epic truth" in cinder block!🎯🗣👂👀👏
Are you a boy or a girl?....to that special person who I think of all the time ....thank you for being there for stitches coming out after lymph node in the back wall of my breast was removed and bringing happiness to this sad soul of mine

Horrifying and haunting..she wrote history with her voice, documenting what was real.

It scares the shadows out of me to hear this. All the world is afraid of this strangeness.
It's not normal for humans to do this, it's strange
I feel all in my soul, I cant stop crying whit this song..

А главное всему миру
Обьявила об этой проблеме,не побоялась в те страшные времена.
Strange Fruit will forever live.
La magia del blues,el dolor,el dramatismo inigualable de los tiempos,de no olvidar

Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.

You already know how much I love you. What, more could I possibly do or say for you to come home? If I knew what it was I would have said it already

Is Billie Holiday still alive?
Sadly, no
Billie flew to heaven at only 44 years old
Died 1959 at 44
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth 😔
The most powerful line I thought had heard before but that struck me
Song a perfect for a solo midnight drive ❤️🔥✨
