I had spent my life before this buying the more affordable computers (well, affordable Macs). This was the laptop that inspired me to splurge and go top of the line. One of the best decisions I ever made. Loved my TiBook for years and years.
Loved it when I first got it - was so happy to get rid of it. Hinges cracked multiple times, the bezel wore away to black, the bezel cracked and the paint came off.
I actually bought mint condition 1ghz SuperDrive model for 15€. Was very good deal and it is very beatiful machine. It only is a bit loud, and runs hot. My iBook G3 Snow is dead silent always.
What a beautiful design! I've got a nearly mint one highest end model AND an original working battery (1h battery life). Sadly the plastic pegs on the charger have both broken off and the screen has an old ccfl tube, which causes the screen to look pink when it boots up, but still it's an amazing device!
Titanium's max strain before plastic deformation is 800 Mega Pascals where Aluminum is 250 Mega Pascals. I'll give you that Titanium won't stretch as far as aluminum would, but it takes way more force to get to that point.
But it wasn't solid titanium. Had you not painted the thing (it would have IMO looked cooler to boot) you still had the creaky hinges and bezels that broke off. The Aluminum PowerBooks didn't go unibody until the MacBook Pros, but they were definitely more durable.
@@davidfuchs845 Yeah, it's a titanium alloy--and one that ended up being poorly suited for the task. Spy planes probably don't have doors that snap off when you try to close them!
@@JasonSnell I understand where you’d coming from and “Looks” would have been better but if I guarantee Steve wanted to say it and wanted the symmetry of one word

G4 Powerbook. My 1st ever Mac. Bought it used in 2015, April. & it STILL KICKED ASS!
The TiBook was the first Apple laptop I ever bought. It was so great, I regret selling it when I upgraded to an aluminum PowerBook a few years later.

Probably still the thinnest bezel in any apple laptop.
I like to think the PowerBook you are showing is the one I donated to you
I had a titanium PowerBook.... excellent machine at the time...

its never awkward to watch a steve jobs keynote and even this power and sex one he nails confidently.

Jason Snell's shirt is fucking brilliant.
Titanium G4 PowerBook
A very soft element? What? It’s literally one of the most non-malleable metals in the industry.
It scratches like it’s no ones business
@@apowers7783 that's because it was painted. Not the metal scratching, just the paint
@@beastModeRocco I own a titanium watch and its also known to pick up scratches very easily. The surface of the G4 also flaked badly.
Non malleable doesn’t mean hard. Hardness measures a different property
Yes, I was expecting him to say “brittle”
I think you're too hard on the presentation
You're welcome to your opinion. I think it's gross and weird. (Even "sex appeal" would've been better.)

@@nfugitt89 Oh, I'm sure Steve wanted to say it! Doesn't make it any less gross IMO
