I like that you used the Polaroid Hi-Print cartridge in this camera. Thanks for testing that. That pretty much sold me to purchase this model over the Mini Shot 3, which I agree is a little too bulky to carry around.
This camera is pretty nice, but I can't find the paper for it anywhere - it's so hard to find in my country, but I can find Polaroid Hi Print paper, it's nice to see you tried it with that so I'm assured I can still use the camera
Great review. I just got this one. It seems to have no way to tell how many prints still left in the printer. Is there a way to tell? Also notice the battery life seems to be not very good. I print 7 and down to 10% already.
Can you use a Kodak cartridge for polaroid hi print? I thought about getting a polaroid hi print, but cartridges are more expensive than Kodak's, so I did not get it.
I'm not in the instant camera space, but is the Kodak paper something will still be sold 10 years down the line? Are there cameras which have films which have always been sold and don't seem to become obsolete?
I really want to buy this camera, but this question keeps going on in my mind. In my country it is easy to find the films, but only in the official Kodak store. Is very cheap, also. But I want a camera to be with me for a long time - so, it's a big doubt for me
@@amandaviana3974 I gave this some thought and I think it's not worth it. You could get a simple digital camera for like 50 bucks, and then just print them out in a convenience store (dm, Müller or Rossmann in Germany). It's a slight hassle to go there, but you really only need to bring an sd card with you and the pictures are also fairly cheap and you get them instantly. Plus depending on what camera you really get, because you can get anything really. The images will be lightyears better. And if you want them to look worse you can always put a filter on the images.
Can I put it somewhere warm to make the process warming up much faster or the words, "warming up" doesn't actually pertain to the camera trying to heat up on purpose?
So when we click, we have option to cancel or print, if we cancel does it get saved in phone? Or just get deleted? I want to save pictures and print only one i want, is it possible?
Hi Chris! Thank you for this video. I have a question tough about something you mention on the video but I am not sure if you tested it out. Do the kodak cartridges work on the polaroid hi-print? Because I am thinking about buying the polaroid one but, as you say, the kodak paper is much cheaper. Could you confirm that the kodak cartridges work on the polaroid? Thank you again!
Great review! Thanks very much 😊👍🏼 I’m thinking of buying this for my 10 year old daughter as she has asked for a Polaroid-like camera for Christmas. Would you recommend this over the Instax Mini 12? I know she likes the look of the Instax but I’m worried about printing costs/portability vs the Kodak. Many thanks and all the best, Jono 😊
Hmm I would get a instax mini and buy the film from wal mart. It’s $14 for 20 photos. The paper for this camera people have been saying it’s getting harder to find and sometimes not being able to find it anywhere.
Keep in mind that instax is “shoot and print” camera, you take a photo and it prints out immediately, it will not let you chose which ones to print or discard. Plus don’t shake the picture as it develops.
I think this camera stands btw an instant camera which prints the image immediately and the instax mini evo which save all the images and allow you to choose the image and print later this camera is like a printer that can take picture but and print it but not saving for later
Hi there! I have been looking for a pocket printer to take with me while I travel and I watched this video as well as the Polaroid hi print one. I agree with your note about how much trash these create/the environmental impact and I was wondering if you have come across any portable printers that make less trash? It seems like maybe an area that instant printers/cameras havent figured out yet? So far it seems like the best option is to just print at home later. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
See I wanted to buy for quick snaps of family and vacations but I don’t want to spend a lot of time warming up and waiting when you’re living in the moment and want a quick memory
We carry around our smartphones 100% of the time and smartphone camera module is 10x better than the polaroid cameras (10MP vs 100MP). Kodak Mini Shot supports Bluetooth connection with the phone to print the photos straight from the phone. So.. what is the need of the microSD card? It's a very old feature and a gimmick.
I think you’re missing the point of all of this. Yes we have our phone in our pocket we could take pictures whatever. The joy of these cameras is to offer something different, being able to shoot something and have a different look and feel that’s also physical. That’s what it’s all about.
@@JustAnotherChris I think Jordan is saying this because you talked about the internal storage and SD card option. This is irrelevant to your point on having a "different look and feel that's also physical".
The physical part is the camera. But if the camera does the cool thing of make prints, but not the very basic thing of "works as a digital camera", it's pretty silly. Yes, you can get the printer-only version. But the camera version has a chance to be so cool, except you don't get a digital copy of the photo... why?!?
THANK YOU: I got the Mini 3 and Mini 2 during Prime day to compare -- BUT THEN I saw your review for the Liene M200 with 10 mins before all the deals ended - AND I am SO SO glad I found your review of the Liene - the print quality vs the kodak isn't even in the same class. Conclusion: I'm willing to forego pocket portability for hi-res photos i'd be happy to gift to friends w my name on it!
Once upon a time, when computer and book stores could be found nearly everywhere, I stopped off at Computer City to look for Inkjet cartridges for my Canon printer. There was a Dye-Sublimation printer on demo, that did a "triple in/out" thing with the print media. It looked very good, but the price of a tricolor cartridge was too expensive. I (sorta) yearned for a three color Laser printer, but when they finally arrived, Computer City was about to shut down and the machines were huge/heavy. I have heard of Dye-Sublimation printers from "Techmoan," from "Polaroid." So now "Kodak" has these on the market? I used Ye Olde Canon PowerShot 15 for my brother-in-law's birthday and the 4X6 inch prints made at the local CVS drugstore were great and much cheaper, so this is a hard pass.
While the print quality of these is excellent, the camera is so bad it's stunning. It's not sharp, the colours are washed out. If you use the flash, the pictures are over exposed and totally washed out. It's so bad it's hard to believe. Like a keychain toy quality camera from the 90s. Prints turn out well from a smart phone. I would say it's better to buy the portable printer version of this and forget about the camera. If you're thinking "Well, the camera one is only $20 more. Maybe I might want to use the camera once in a while", trust me, you won't. It's that bad compared to any smart phone. I can't say it strongly enough: The camera picture quality is extremely poor. Use your smartphone instead. Forget about the camera and get the portable printer-only version instead.
No thanks, you may want to look at the instax mini Evo, shoot mini, saves pics on unit or mini sd card (900+ on 128mb card) prints from phone with app something to look at
Just so you know, Instax film costs $1 a piece and Kodak costs $0.3. Kodak Mini Shot Retro connects with your phone to print from the gallery... and our smartphone camera is 10x better than the polaroid cameras, so what is the need of microSD card? It's a gimmick, don't be fooled. Make the right choice, I went with Kodak.

polaroid into the kodak so useful THANKS!!!!
I only use the older one as a printer, I don't see myself jumping on this one ... I did get the Kodak branded half frame camera ... pretty cool!!!
The half frame camera looks pretty cool and I might have to get that thing.
Have you ever tested the Kodak Step Touch? How would it compare to this?
Wonder if you can use the zink film in it?
How long the battery lasted? I got one but it run out of battery after I printed 3 or 4 photos :((
Is it possible to use kodak cartridge in polaroid hi-print gen2 ?
Kodak should have been inspired by the Leica instant camera that has an sd card and lets you print whenever
Have you seen the new ERA line of these? The “mini” shot 4 Era that prints 4x4 looks great. Huge camera but I need to try it out.
Can I record video with this camera?
No you can not
the problem of hiprint, is to cheat my papers, it always, always roll up all of my ink and leave all photo paper inside than says paper empty to me.
I'm not in the instant camera space, but is the Kodak paper something will still be sold 10 years down the line?

Nothing saves. The app only to send photos for printing only.

Hmmm good question. I mean I was in California in about 80° weather and it did still take a while to warm up

It’s the same

Nope you have to print or the photo will be deleted. No internal storage.
Can we save the photos or use some sort of SD card or so??
As mentioned in the video, there is no SD card on the camera
