Damn Right! Good Rock and Roll was hard to vote by in the new wave 80s...these guys saved my soul..along with bands like the Del-Lords and Jason and the Scorchers.
Those early Satellites records were masterfully recorded. They had the bass and drums cranked up to 11. You could really rattle the walls playing those albums on your stereo. In the 80's there was such a lack of focus on the low end of recordings most of the time. Their music really stood out for that.
In the late ‘80s I saw these guys play a stadium with Duran Duran and David Bowie! It’s a shame they had to play with about half the sound system and in total daylight. If it was a dive bar instead of a shiny stadium they’d have blown the doors off the joint!
I was in Rota Spain. Then the New Jersey pulled in and rendered the salute to the base admiral. Damn, those guns shook everything around for miles. Long 21, but damn… what a chill it gave!!
When I first heard the Nirvana song "Sliver" (before they were big). I honestly thought it was Georgia Satellites. The cadence of "Grandma Take Me Home" kind of reminded me of Battleship Chains. I was an ignorant teenager
They already explored the possibilities. We are just left with a Whoo! Make the best of it and bring a Cheez-it or String Bean casserole. Here's to Drunk Uncle season!
I saw them at the Ritz in NYC on my birthday close to Christmas...the played Run Rudolph into its Only Rock n Roll... and encored with I Wanna be Sedated for Joey Ramone in the crowd. Blew the roof off.
This entire album is a master class in Rock-N-Roll. It is all killer and no filler.
Damn Right!
