Whos still listening to this gem in '24?
Great song .I play this for my fiance
I remember hearing this as a kid and thinking, “who even likes this song?”....flash forward 30 years and it’s one of my favorites.
My dad and me and my siblings used to sing this at the top of our lungs riding down a dirt road in his pickup on the way home. We were barefoot, fearless and phone- less and happy as pigs in mud. Those were the days..
No you didn’t.

To the one who have gone on before. He'll yeah they are still listening. Just like us HELL TO THE YEAH
my number 1 dive bar cover band request tune. all bands should cover this tune.
This song don't play. Charges in, says what it needs to say to make you groove and laugh, then charges out. Game over.
This is gonna sound really dumb but I have a gap between my two front teeth. When I was younger I was very self conscious about it. I would never smile and I always thought for some reason it would hold me back in life. My folks couldn't afford to get me braces. My dad had this CD so I had heard this song 100 times. One day when I was around 10-11 we had one of those music video channels on and this video came on. I knew the song but had never seen the video. When I saw Dan Bairds smile the first time it instantly made me feel better. I thought wow, here is a guy who is a rockstar, loved by millions and he never got the gap in his teeth fixed either. From that point I realized even with a gap in your teeth you can still smile, be an awesome person and still be loved and admired by people. I am 20 years older now and haven't been self conscious about it for over a decade. It's funny how just one little thing, like a music video can begin changing your perspective on life. It didn't take any therapy, self help books, or a happiness guru. It took Dan Baird rocking out telling us how he had to keep his hands to himself.
You are awesome. I love this comment! Go man, go!
And, btw, doesn't sound dumb at all... I wish we all could have that experience early in life. Our looks aren't what we are. WE are what we are. The good, the bad, the ugly, all of it, lol. I met guys I thought weren't "good looking" that became so handsome the more I listened, learned, and got to know about them, same with female friends, etc. I hate that some people suffer so over their looks. I wasn't dealt a bad hand there, however, I do understand it.. But it don't matter, these are just our earth suits, haha. Have a great day!! : )
@@dawndriscoll513 Haha I really appreciate that, thank you. You sound like an amazing person with a very spiritually intelligent view on life and the people in it. I love "Earth suit" that is 100% true and a great reminder. Your exactly right too, our looks are pointless, if your a beautiful person inside people will see a beautiful person outside too. Thanks for the reply friend your outlook is spot on :).
@@AndrewHarmless-wv5or Hey, thanks! You just made me smile with your reply and you're so welcome. You're comment made an impression on me and I'm happy you got over that which you thought was an "imperfection". I'm willing to bet it was what many found endearing about you! But, yeah, I agree with your assessment very much too.. Birds of a feather? Haha. I guess it just makes me sad that some (really great) people I've had the pleasure of knowing throughout my life have felt "less than" because of something they see as "unattractive". Then, there were some really outwardly good looking, my s*** don't stink, types along the way too. Now they were "unattractive" to me. It's like "normal"... What is "normal"? As far as I can tell, it's a setting on a washing machine. So who gets to define "normal"? Not me, that's for sure, haha. You made my night better, Andrew, I can tell you're a great person too! Carry on... : )
@@AndrewHarmless-wv5or And, fwiw, in my younger days, I wasn't very intelligent or amazing, like I am now, lol. I feel this little nugget is in line with our conversation... I married my "ex" mostly because of his "looks" and he was the lead singer in a band. He had his reasons, let's say. But Yikes! Not very nice, or smart, and yeah, that didn't work out well. Haha.. live and learn, as they say

I’m here for it!! 2024 ❤🎉🤘
Earlier today was my dad's memorial service.. and it got me thinking back to a time in the late 80's when he worked near my grade school. While driving us in the morning, ANY time this came on the radio, he'd crank it up and we'd jam to it! lol ...... he was the type of guy who doesn't want to be mourned, but rather celebrated, so I listen to this tune tonight (the night of his memorial), and CRANK it up the way he used to on our way to my school / his work. My dad was cool like that : )
Dad was looking down moving to that rocking song
His memory lives on.

I love how his voice breaks cause it's just some legit music and singing. song gets 1 thousand stars
That’s vocal control, it isn’t an accident. What he’s doing is the same mechanism as yodelling. It’s incredibly hard to do, it requires years of practice and strong vocal chords to be able to control that sound.
@@TripleXMango yeah Jack White is really good at it as well. Kurt Cobain was too. They’re all trained in making their voice not sound perfect.

Such a rocknroll classic it's like a jukebox, a roadhouse, and a beer stained dance floor got together in a band, with a Saturday night in summertime as lead singer.
"WHEN A GLOVE FITS -
ANALOGIES ARE BORN"
well there, you said it..
and that picture holds what you told, as in itself..
not too much more it needs, to be mentioned & keep on running - keep it, play them & dance with at least one more, anytime it finds you; when the day is able, may it find you were dancing, to the music..!

@@AtomicBlonde1 heh, yeah. It just has that joyous singalong vibe that the whole family could be ready to kill each other but the moment it comes on the car radio everybody goes from hollering at each other to hollering together "I got a little change in my pocket going jing-a-ling..."

I drove through rural Missouri with my 25 year old son listening to this banger. We had a blast!
Great and iconic song, did you ever attend his concert?
@@AfonsoGeorge No. My 25 year old son loves 70’s and 80’s classic rock. He played “Keep Your Hands to Yourself” and told me how much he loves Georgia Satellites and I showed him the video and told him I used to listen to them when I was in high school. My husband, son and I had a great time listening to this on a road trip through southern Missouri.

The official anthem of every man who's ever been blueballed.

Thats... not really what this song is about. It's about the guy seeing his woman as being honest but he just wants it more than she really wants him.
Well, it’s obvious by the video that she’s pregnant, unless it was immaculate conception. He’s getting some loving too.
Back in the 70s I had the absolute honor of being present at a friends house when her dads buddies would show up with their instruments and jam like this. This spontaneous jam session would go late into the evening and it is one of my most cherished childhood memories by far! Thank you Mr. Vassar, you were always the cool dad 😊

Such a great song, and such an underappreciated band. They were ahead of their time in the 80s -- too rock and roll for Nashville, too country for the LA hair band scene.
Every man from 20 to 80 years old needs too listen to this at least once a month. That is for future reference, or just to bring up a fun memory. 🙂
One of the greatest one hit wonders of 80s

2 hits. Battleship Chains which I actually prefer.

Back in the '70s I used to go see these guys every week at Hedgen's Tavern in the Buckhead neighborhood. Dan Baird and Rick Richards on guitars, Brendan O'Brien on bass, and a drummer whose name I can't remember. They were just "Satellites" then. Name didn't change until they got on a major label. Good times. Great band.
When they went to sign the deal they found out there was another band with the same name so they added "Georgia."
Oh yeah, here in '24. Caught up with this song late, off an old cd of Sweet Home Alabama. Great to hear guitar playing as good as The Calling version. Lit me up and now I'm on a journey into country rock!

This is the anthem of my 'salad days' at Virginia Tech in the 80s. When bands played this song the whole building would vibrate and wood floors would bounce and the entire Main Street would hear the chorus, "Don't hand me no lines and keep yo hands to yoself!"
