This song is about how people can still feel like shit even when things around them are seeming really good. It has sad lyrics and sounds melancholy for sure but it also sounds very uplifting. Thats magic of CCR. A sad song yet I can’t help but smile the whole time and feel great. But at times when I feel sad I’m sure I’ll also listen to this song with sad ears. But still feels positive. When I was 19 had a friend and rugby teammate take his life - completely out of the blue. Turns out he was really hurting over a heartbreak and didn't let anyone know about his pain. He was too young to have the perspective that he needed to move on. Steve was about to go off on scholarship to play rugby at uni in the fall of that year and was both a phenomenal athlete and very intelligent and well liked dude. We unknowingly spent his last night alive out with him at some local bars and nightclubs and had a great time. He was in such a good mood that night. Little did we realize it was because he had made peace with it and was just saying goodbye to everyone. We left the bar, he went home and gassed himself in his dad's garage. This song was played at the funeral and you have never seen so many gruff old rugby dudes bawling their eyes out. This kid was such a shining star at our club and was loved by everyone. Even now 30 odd years later I can still vividly remember this song playing and sitting in stunned silence at the funeral as many people wiped away tears. The years that have passed have not dimmed the memories of that day. If you bother to read this and are hurting - please dont isolate yourself and reach out for help - as a life long sufferer of depression myself, I can attest to how many times things that are bringing you down will pass over time and to quote one of my favorite movie's "As bad as things get, they go the other way too".............Rest easy Steve.
The older I become, the more I realize all I want in life is some land in a calm quiet place in nature and to enjoy the simple things everyday around people I love. 🙏
Song is pretty sad when you understand it's basically about CCR understanding they wouldn't be together as a band for much longer. Amazing timeless talent. Every member exactly where they needed to be, no position unimportant. Just wish they could've figured it out.
Actually the other members thought "they could hit clean up" John knew better but let them have their shot and they didn't cut it. Should have let John do what he pleased but they stepped on his toes and the rest is pretty bad history. They had a Foreigner type run in the late 60's very early 70's. What a run though.
My Dad had this Great Song on Cassette Tape back in the Day…One Weekend We were camping and Fishing the Beaverhead River in Montana, and My Dad put the Cassette in Our player in the Motorhome, Cranked The Volume Up Loud, and just kept on Rewinding it to Listen Again and Again 👍😃… My Dads now 84 Years Young and Doing Pretty Well :) :) :) ❤️❤️❤️

i miss my dad he died 3 years ago a month before my 11th birthday he loved ccr and this song reminds me of times we spent having bond fires and sitting in the bed of the truck looking at stars listening to these songs. Sometimes it feels like i lost 1 of my best friends. But ya know what? I wouldnt bring him back if he was gonna be the way he was before because he had epilepsy and he had bad sezuirs idk how to spell that but i love and misws my dad more than anything
I just get thinking about it and think about what im doing rn. I haven't went out to watch stars or anything since he died i really miss doing that stuff. I think thats what i miss the most we would always go in the mountains just walk in and walk for the whole day and he somehow always new where he was going. We always came out of the woods where he said we would. But theres 1 thing for sure he did live a crazy life he wrecked idk how many cars and another reason i wouldnt bring him back is because in the end i know he wasnt happy. Him and my mom got divorced when i was 9 and he attempted suicide but luckily i got a few more years with him ig. Anyway ill leave you alone if u even take the time to read thank you and much love i hope everyone has a nice night.

I was a misfit in the 1980’s who didn’t like the music I was inundated by. I was crazy about CCR and a slew of other 60’s and 70’s bands. I’m so happy that there are millions of us who still love this song!
Amazing that a 3 minute video can convey such a relatable story of nostalgia, heartache, and missed opportunities without a single word of dialogue. Bravo to the writers, director, and actors for telling a more raw and impactful story in 3 minutes than 90% of movies today try to do in 2 hours.

This song means more now than it ever has. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October and it has been the hardest fight I’ve ever had to face. Music like this makes it a little easier. Thank you! 💞
I know nothing about you, but I feel the need to reach out to you. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was about 18 years old. I was the oldest of five children at the time, and still am. I will be 68 this year. I remember reaching out to the Lord and asking that my mother be healed. I knelt down on my bed with my brother and we prayed together. At the time (in the '70s) I knew nothing much about divine healing, just that Jesus not only died for our sins but for our healing too. At the time I was somewhat fearful, not just of my mother dying, but of having to take part in raising my four younger brothers and sisters. (Two of each) Though my mother had surgery, she did recover and lived to be over 80 years old. God is good, and His mercy endures forever. I take this time to pray for you. You will recover, you will live on. God bless you Cassie. I speak life over you. Isaiah 41:10 ‘Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].’ Amplified Bible.

Actually I can see this song playing right after Hughie kills Butcher (just like in the comics), it starts with Hughie sitting down next to Butcher’s dead body, covered in blood, beaten and battered, and then it cuts to Hughie and Starlight’s happy ending with kids and everything

My beautiful father loved this song along with so many classic rock songs. He would play it a lot specially last year when he went through two open heart surgeries. I used to love it now I listen to it can’t help and cry. I will cherish those moments of happiness we had. My brother just recently had a dream with him where my dad left a note and in that note it was this song written. I try to think of it as a happy song but everyday I miss my beloved my father more and more listening to this song makes me feel he talks to us through music. Love you always Donaldo ♥️
It was also my dad's favorite song. Today is Father's Day in Argentina, and I dedicate this song to him. Sometimes, I've been thinking about him and missing him a lot... and suddenly this song was playing on the radio, or in someone else's car... and I know it's him saying: I'm here. ❤
The 20th century will become eternal as the musical century! The most beautiful songs were composed in it! Compositions with a lot of musicality, poetry, romanticism and a lot of talent! What an honor to have lived this time!
Just goes to show technology isn't always bad. Think about how the musical genius of so many of these immensely talented people wouldn't be preserved if they had been born just a century earlier. Yet we lucked out and now their beautiful works will be preserved for all time.
@@Wells13555 You're right. The evolution of radio, the advent of television, vinyl, CD and other media were the engines of many talented artists of the 20th century! I hope that the internet and other more modern media to come preserve all these talents forever!

This song will always be relevant. It's a timeless classic that everyone can understand and relate to. John is going to be remembered for many decades as a premier singer songwriter, what else could a legendary musician ask for.
I love how the video is exactly what hearing this song FEELS like. It instantly takes you back to those good old days, spending time with friends or family, and it makes you treasure the moments with the people you love while you can. Before the “rain”.
CCR 50 years seems like only yesterday What a great time to be alive back then when things were so simple This one is a Masterpiece and will live on forever
Glad I watched the whole thing... Actually very beautifully done. Cherish your memories.. Live in the present. Treat people with kindness.. That's all that matters. CCR forever.
I'll always remember this song from when I took the car rides with my dad to pick up my mom from her work late evenings - my dad has passed years ago, but the music we listened to during those car rides will always remind me of him.
I broke down in the bar when that came on after my friends funeral, something I’ll never forget but it was a happy crying, all the memories of our shenanigans and adventures

I think the song is very melancholic. What is the mysterious relationship between the three people? Why is the lady alone at the beginning of the video and in the process of moving? Is she wistfully thinking back to old memories? Where has time gone?
"This video seems to be about polyamory or an open relationship. These three people seem like a throuple, and in the end, it looks like they separate... it’s kind of a triangle... I think."
I was always told by my grandmother that when it rains on a sunny day that someone has just went to heaven. It rained a sunny day the day of her funeral :)
What a nice sentiment. I recall riding in a car while it was raining & the sun came out. There were two intersecting rainbows in the sky. It was just days after 9/11.

Song is pretty sad when you understand it's basically about CCR understanding they wouldn't be together as a band for much longer. Amazing timeless talent. Every member exactly where they needed to be, no position unimportant. Just wish they could've figured it out.
Why, what happened?
It's really an amazing song, but I actually don't know the story behind it or what the band has gone through
Actually the other members thought "they could hit clean up"
John knew better but let them have their shot and they didn't cut it. Should have let John do what he pleased but they stepped on his toes and the rest is pretty
bad history.
They had a Foreigner type run
in the late 60's very early 70's.
What a run though.

i miss my dad he died 3 years ago a month before my 11th birthday he loved ccr and this song reminds me of times we spent having bond fires and sitting in the bed of the truck looking at stars listening to these songs.

This song means more now than it ever has. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October and it has been the hardest fight I’ve ever had to face. Music like this makes it a little easier. Thank you! 💞
God bless

5 years ago. Did they even understand what they would experience next?

Fabuloso.
it is a beautiful song. for some reason i’m already sad about my dad dying & he hasn’t even passed yet . i love him so much.
Escuchar Creedence Clearwater con Hughie y Starlight es lo máximo, aumenta mucho más el feeling!!
Yeahh, después de 3 años hasta ahora me vengo enterando de que ellos hicieron este video musical jaja

I was a teenager in the 70’s. Best music ever. I played this music for my children when they were younger. They still listen to it now and they are all in their 40’s
My parents as well.. I'm now 49 and blasting rock in a city dominated by rap!!Philly
❤
I'm one of those kids. 😢❤ gonna be 37... still love this music.
Das gleiche hier..
Danke Mama :)
I got the same thing with me and my mom. We used to listen to CCR driving out east to visit relatives in the summers, when i was a kid. Wonderful memories.
Dejo mi comentario para que me recuerden cuantas veces lo debo escuchar este TEMAZOOO
That scene in The Longest Yard when everyone's playing in the rain and mud perfectly fits this song.
Such good vibes
Man, what can I say that already hasn't been said.
At 71 love it. At 81 I'll still sing to CCR.
amen brother
. . . .and at 91, you'll dance while the GenZ doctor looks in amazement at how you managed to say so relevant. . . .and you'll tell her it's because CCR made music to live by🤗

I have very fond memories of my grandpa singing this song while incarcerated. He'd run around the correctional officers in the canteen and sing his heart out. Miss you forever gramps Jean Paul.

I’m so glad that my parents and grandparents raised me to CCR’s music I just find todays music to be a little too much 😅 I love this music because it’s so simple but it makes you feel even more. This is real talent ❤ I even got to see John Fogerty Live when I was 9 years old, I’ll never forget that concert.

My deceased husband listened to this band and I've loved it ever since!! And our son loves them too!!
Man had good taste..... boy will too.
❤️🙌🏻xxxxxxx
También la canta Juan Gabriel
Sending you , your son and your late husband so much love❤️
CCR will never fade, just as the memories with your late husband won’t either. This video represents this song and their band so well. Every time I listen to CCR it has a “good ole days” vibe that comes with it. Hoping CCR brings back good memories from the good ole days for you and your son😌
