I have been in the building game some 40 years and must admit your leadwork is outstanding.
Thank you so much. I aways try and do the best job I can. I take a little longer than most. I just want to do a good job. And I can’t rush things.
Thanks for watching.
I liked the detail in this video
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Nice attension to detail, You make it look easy.
Thank you. Are you in the trade yourself ?
Awesome work Stu 👍👍
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Recommended to me by A&E Building, love your work....👍👍👍👍
Thank you. Did they mention me on their channel ?
@@slbleadworks Sure they did will have to find it, sure it was them don't follow any other builders. Will check.
New subscriber……. And absolutely love your work!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I’m really trying to get the channel to grow.
New vid going live at 7pm U.K. time.
Decent work .. very impressive 👍
Thank you. And thanks for watching.
Excellent job
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Awesome work
Thank you
Very nice job, takes me back to my leadworking days, very satisfying seeing your work on show 👍
Thank you. Do you still do some lead work now from time to time ?
@@slbleadworks I do on the odd occasions, I am a Plumber by trade and used to do quite a lot of leadwork, changed careers 27 years ago so it is just now occasionally for friends or family, still enjoy doing it and having the work there to see in the future, still drive past jobs I did 30 years ago and have some pride in how it looks
Great skill
Thank you
great work mate, well done. good luck with the rest of them
Thank you
Hello Stuart….
Thanks for another excellent informative video…. I’ve never seen an external face plate cut as a step flashing… but it seems so obvious now as it is face brickwork…!
Looks so much better…
U continue to inspire and give me ways to aesthetically improve my own
Roofing & lead work jobs and for that I thank you ..
Hope u and yr family are well
Much love
Chris x
Hi Chris thank you. The face plates really finish things off. And they are quite enjoyable to do too . Thanks for watching the vid and taking the time to leave a comment.
Never seen lead welding , really impressive
Thank you
Lovely job 😎
Thank you
Lovely work m8
Thank you
Nice one , tidy job .
Thank you
I mean it all looks great but the external step flashing looked excellent a really cool looking feature 👍👌
Thank you. I think that vertically stepped face plates really finish it off.
@@slbleadworks never seen one before, really looks smart and done well👌
Tidy work as always pal but that's a lot of work and lead for one outlet. But hey ho, at least it's another earner, l guess the buildings you work on the owners aren't short of a quid or two anyway. You work on some lovely homes
Thank you. Yes I’m very lucky to work on some real posh places. I love seeing how the other half live. One day lol….
Love it
Thank you
Nice work I did a load or rectangle ones last year good to see how someone else goes about it and another lefty wish they would do us a left handed torch
Thank you. Yes when are the gonna give us a left handed torch. Thanks for watching the vid and taking the time to leave a comment.
@@slbleadworks thanks for making them very valuable viewing just given you a follow on IG
I used to do leadwork as par tof a two man team. I am left handed and my mate was right handed. Really useful, as there are always tricky bits for one person that are easy for the other.
very tidy work
Thank you
That was cool, I liked that design, do add silicone to the joints between the bricks and the lead?
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Yes this was pointed in with lead sealant.
What apprenticeship did you do in order to learn this skill?
It’s all very impressive.
Thank you. I think I was lucky to be working along side some amazing lead workers that took a lot of pride in their work. I also went to college one day a week
Nice job,
Only problem I see it that them outlets should have a sump,
So if the insulation is 150mm the sump should be 80mm insulation,
So them outlets should be 80mm of the deck.
Thank you. I agree a sump would be a better detail. But it’s not shown on the drawing and I’m just a subcontractor doing what I’ve been asked by the person running the job.
@@slbleadworks well if that was a Bauder or Iko or Langley system on that flatroof that wouldn't get a warranty,
It's normally the project designer will forward the drawings to the above company and they would send there speck back and that speck would show the sumps.
So who ever is incharge of that job is in for a suprise.
Unless which maybe the case now that the insulation is 200mm and the outlets are fixed at the sump height.
I would definatly make the main contractor or the felters aware of this as it could be a costly oversight.
Good luck and nice work again.
Hi Stuart
8:43 I thought you'd put the sleeve through the face plate, does it have to be that way, or you just go by the feel?
9:35 You shaving the sticks, does it give you a cleaner weld, or is it just to confuse viewers?
10:28 would you consider an adjustable sawhorses for the SLB brand?
14:45 as from the audience point of view, your welding looks cool and all but you'll have to shorten this clip...( know it feels wrong from the creator point of view, but I started scrolling through browser waiting for you to finish your weld)
20:23 Looking awesome mate! (Correct me if I'm wrong, the inner tube must overlap the face sleeve, isn't it? There must be some sort of fancy finish where water overflows, we'd love to see it)
Great video brother in trade
Yes I did put the sleeve through the face plate. However I don’t show how I bossed the front down afterwards.
9 times out of 10 I shave hook the welding rods. I find this gives a cleaner weld and is generally just easier to work with. Lead defiantly isn’t as clean as it used to be many years ago. Omg makes me sound old lol.
And yes sorry I know the welding part was long. I get mixed reviews. Some people want to see the complete process so I try and show as much as I can. But thank you for watching the vid and taking the time to leave a comment.
Could you please make a video how to set up a oxy turbo set? I’m struggling with it. I’m not sure if it’s too hot or too cold. When the lead welding rod melts off its very dark and wrinkled. I set the orange flame to 2-3inches but I think I’m going wrong with the oxygen. Thanks.
That type of gun are you using with the oxy turbo kit. Is it the kit with the model o torch ?
@@slbleadworks I’m not entirely sure. It was actually a kit a lead man on the firm used but it’s a old one he stoped using to use the large set like yours.
It's all about the flame and the shape and colour off the flame .. with oxy turbo set you adjust everything on the bottles . Your looking for a pale blue flame with a rounded tip ! And a welding flame about 3 mm . Your only going to find this by practicing at home and understanding how welding works ! Good luck
Seems like the water might backflow between your open seam as it comes out the end of the pipe?
Yes this could happen if I had left it like the end of the vid. However I didn’t show how I bossed down the front of the pipe to stop any back flow.
@@slbleadworks I figured you did! Nice Work !
@@slbleadworksi was wondering i you were going to weld the lower part of the two pipes together.
I need a mask like that for the bits I do at home. What mask is it?
and is this all in code 5?
It’s a ffp3 mask. It takes out the toxic fumes
Yes it’s all code 5
Can't beat a leftie,
Thank you
