    Huge thanks to CCM Hockey for sending me these gloves to review!

    I started with a 14 in a True, felt like good protection, but loose. Dropped to a 13 in a Ultrasonic, loved the snugness but fingers stuck out at the tips in spandex and not much protection, bought some super Tacks in a 14 but haven't used em yet

    Protection package wise from top to bottom, do you like these, the true Catalyst 9, Tacks AS-V Pro or something else for retail. I brought in the Ultrasonics and the lack of plastic in the fingers and backhand was a quick no for me. I value pro level protection from a retail glove with a snugger style fit. Love plastic everywhere and a good thick finger block and thumb area for hyperextension. I’m back on the market now that I returned the Ultrasonics. The Ultrasonics feel amazing I just felt for a top level glove with a retail over $200 it felt cheap with its protection package.

      @HockeyReviews  10 месяцев назад +1

      Cat 9 with the shot blockers would probably be the best, then AS-V and Warrior top models would be the next level.
      Honestly though, if you want pro protection you should REALLY look into the CCM XP gloves, you can't be the protection on them. If you want to ensure the palms last longer make sure you use Lizard Skins, Tacki-Mac, or tennis over grips instead of tape.

    • @ddvette9
      @ddvette9 10 месяцев назад

      What about the regular catalyst 9x (without the shot blocker) vs the ASV-Pro?

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  10 месяцев назад

      ASV-Pro will be a bit better because of the float shell being off the rest of the foams.

    Looking to upgrade my Warrior DXs. Down to CCM vs. SUpreme 2S Pro, both pro stock. Can't determine is the 2S Pro (pro stock version) has the Poron? Also, what is difference between FT1 and the HGJS - is there a difference? Appreciate the great reviews and info.

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  7 месяцев назад

      HGJS will fit 1/2" bigger than retail FT1. Foam package is USUALLY upgraded in the HGJS as well compared to retail FT1.
      Hard to tell the 2S Pro version unless you can really look at them unfortunately.

    would be great if you reviewed the protection against hyperextenion for fingers especially the pinky which tends to get hyperextended.

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  3 месяца назад +1

      There isn't really any hyperextension protection in gloves besides on the thumb. You would have to go the "finger saves" like design like that is on soccer goalkeeper gloves. Easton Mako would've been the closest thing to this with the single piece of exposed plastic on the back of the fingers.
      Lots of pros break in their gloves by folding the glove backwards, including the fingers. Which would be impossible with actual hyperextension protection. The foams on hockey gloves can basically be crushed together with enough force and the fingers can just fold in the opposite direction of what you are looking for.

    • @eugwong
      @eugwong 2 месяца назад

      @@HockeyReviews Not sure if they are designed with hyperextenion in mind per se but I went to the LHS and tried flexing a bunch of gloves and some have more (non-thumb) hyperextension support than others. The CCM TACKS AS-V PRO were very good at preventing hyperextension - perhaps you can test the pair you have vs others. Not sure if this was the design intent or just a byproduct of the foam used and the width of the segmental gaps. In tersms of Pros, I have a pair of pro stock CCM Jetspeed FT-1 Pro HGPJSPP and you are right, they feel like they've been broken in backwards and are hyperextendable. They have shot blockers installed, so presumably the pro (Luke Schenn) was prioritzing shot blocking but not so much finger jamming protection. The hyperflexibility of the Pro stock might also be a result of D3O used in the full thickness of the fingers, instead of the Dual-Density Foam in the fingers of AS-V or other retail gloves. Either way, it begs the question of why thumb hyperextenion protection is such a point of design focus whereas it is not for other fingers. From injury frequency standpoint, both personal experience and googling common hockey hand injuries seem to indicate that jammed (non-thumb) fingers is common and worth exploring for designers and reviewers alike. www.sportshealthnorthwest.com/contents/sports-injuries-1/hockey
      FYI, I was wearing Bauer Ultrasonics when I jammed my pinky finger battling with a player. The Ultrasonics have very hyperextendable fingers vs my old CCM Tacks 7092 gloves. Stopped wearing the Ultrasonics ever since.

    I’m struggling to choose between jetspeed 6, catalyst 9x3, warrior alpha lx2 and bauer supreme mach gloves. Any advice on what i should choose? I have true skates and love them so thought i might like the gloves too

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  5 месяцев назад

      I have a review for all of those but the 9x3, but the previous True gloves were pretty similar to those and I reviewed them.
      I think you just have to figure out what fit profile you want and what features matter most to you and make a decision off of that!

    Can you recommend ccm prostok gloves that have a good flex cuff? Snug would be nice.

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  5 месяцев назад

      CCM HG12 have the best flex cuff there is, so that is the easy one to recommend.

      Both are solid, but they are different fit profiles. These are more snug than Tacks, so you should go off of what you like more for feel.

    Would you say this is better than the Ultrasonic gloves?
    Edit: Nvm. For the price difference between the two, I'll just stick with the Bauers. Thx

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  10 месяцев назад

      Yeah, I would say it is better. But since Ultrasonic are on sale now, grabbing an FT4 Pro or an FT1 on sale would be a better value.

      @@HockeyReviewsThanks for the response. So you're saying that price aside, the FT1 and FT4 Pro gloves are better than the Ultrasonics?
      Edit: Nvm. Watched your FT4 Pro video and it seems like you recommend them over the ultrasonics, unless people want the flex cuff. Thanks.

      @@HockeyReviewsSo I went ahead and picked up the FT4 Pro gloves in 14". One thing I noticed on the CCM's, specifically on the right glove, my index finger doesn't seem like it sits perfectly centered inside. When I start to make a fist my index finger wants to rest on the seam between the leather and black material (sorry forgot what its called). I think I might have seen this too in your other video while you had the gloves on.
      Did you happen to experience this, or did I just receive a glove with QC issue?

    • @datanpeterpan
      @datanpeterpan 4 месяца назад

      I have the FT6 gloves and the index sits the same as what you are describing. I don't really notice it though

      @@nillirk "my index finger wants to rest on the seam" I also have had this problem of the index finger sitting on the stretch gusset instead of the leather palm material. Not sure what causes this. wouldl like to know. Happened on my CCM Tacks 7092. I wonder if there is a way to bend the material so the finger sits centered

    What is the weight?

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  10 месяцев назад +4

      I don't weigh gear anymore because people focus too much on the numbers, which leads to companies like Bauer removing the plastics in their gloves just to achieve a lower and lower number for advertising.
      This glove, like I mentioned is very light weight and well balanced.

    • @DisturbedRocks
      @DisturbedRocks 10 месяцев назад

      @@HockeyReviews I understand that but light weight means different weights to different people. E.g. Tacks 4052 I had were lighter than Super Tacks gloves, neither felt heavy. But are these lighter than Super Tacks? The only way to think about that is by actual grams.
      Perhaps just mention it as a matter of fact, but not in the actual review itself

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  10 месяцев назад +2

      But again... it doesn't matter if these 20 grams lighter than SuperTacks. That 20 grams isn't going to make a difference.
      These gloves are still very light weight while not removing the plastics and sacrificing the standard retail protection.
