I absolutely love the way these form fit around the rib cage and the straps on the arm guards..are secure! can just slip your arm in and no tape necessary.

I have the original RBZ shoulders, I'm glad to see that they've kept the same methodology when it comes to shoulders

CCM drifted away from this design for a few years. But their player department has really stepped it up recently and has brought out some solid new models.

I think with the way gear is now.. Its official.. Im gonna have two sets of gear.. lighterweight practice and casual play gear. and something a 2nd. more protective set.

Solid review Matt. As someone who has used CCM CL shoulders for years, the FT6 Pro is the true successor of that pad.
The FT4s were terrible and simply did not breathe. The FT6s are the most breathable shoulder pad I’ve ever worn. You can feel the air when you’re moving on the ice.
Regarding the shoulder cap material, I’ve never felt it but I also wear base layers. The one thing I do dislike about CCM shoulders is how the bicep guard is attached to the cap. This point always seems to fail and is probably why pro stock versions typically have two loops.
Is there a reason you undo the bicep straps? That’s a strap where I adjust it to the length I want when I first get the pads, set it, and literally never move it again. Just slide my arm through the hole.

I undo them so I don't stretch out any elastics and so they don't sit "closed" and the strap doesn't wrap the bicep so it sits flatter in my bag.

@@HockeyReviews i owns the ft4pro shoulder.. great detailed reviews. Having compared these with the previous generation shoulder ( or even current gen tacks) vs. A 10yr tack one would've been icing on the cake :)
Matt - glad your liking your ft6pro !

Unfortunately I don't have access to the FT4 Pro shoulders to look at.
But comparing these to my decade old Tacks actually makes a tonne of sense. My Tacks model, as well as the UltraTacks, are one of the most used shoulder in the pro leagues. Which shows that the newer models really haven't made big increases that make them a "must" have.
The CL and RBZ shoulders these are basically based off of, didn't need the changes they went through to be good, and a lot of pro won't get off of those 2 models and shows how unfortunately retail offerings always have to have something "new" for a new release even when it isn't needed.

I'd prefer the Ft6 pro have a slight bit thicker/ harder padding in the kidney. protection area. Alot more comfortable and confident in checking leagues wearing Tacks or Supremes.

While I agree, and have a portion of this video talking about wishing for more protection. I think CCM wants to really differentiate this line and the Tacks

In your opinion, which one do you like better? This one or the FT4 Pro?

Easily this, they changed the liner on this to be more like the UCL and RBZ
