For some reason, the skate weight text only shows in the video as a subtitles. FT4 Pro 702grams. FT6 Pro 766. Both size 7.5.
FT6 pro has more carbon, stiffer skate, more foams, more foams and pads in the liners = slight increase in weight but totally justified in my eyes. You cannot feel the weight on the ice… At all!
According to CCM's 2023 sales catalog, the FT6 Pro skate has a stiffness index rating of 195, and not 215.
@@NicholasG27 In Europe the FT6 Pro's stiffness is 215. In North America, it's 195. That is directly from CCM Hockey.
@@NicholasG27 I don't think I can share the link I have to the EU catalogue, but its 215 on stiffness.
@@ByronLee403 Europe has a stiffer FT6 Pro. EU stiffness is 215. North America is 195. We have a different catalogue in Europe.
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial isn't this a typo? Surely it has to be a typo in the catalogue.
I got my hands on a pair of FT6 Pros from one of my buddies that works at CCM. Probably the best skates I've ever had thus far.
Hey Chris As a Geordie I always get a chuckle when you say COMFORT😜 Emphasis on the COM where we say It like CUM Or Cumfort.
Got to love an Accent 😂
I must admit I’ve also heard the Comment
“Impressive Tongue” but in a totally different Situation😜
Keeping on topic I love the look of the FT6 Pro even though I’m still guilty of owning a pair of FT1 and FT2 even though I’m more suited with wide feet to Super Tacks yet I’m old school when it comes to those still owning a few older Pairs of Skates:-
CCM 1052 Custom Lites
CCM 992 Super Tacks
CCM 852 Super Tacks
CCM Jetspeed FT1
CCM Jetspeed FT2
Reebok 10K Pump
Daoust 301 National (I’m a Gretzky Fan)
Yeah have a laugh at the above Skates but I’m in my late 50’s now and simply can’t get Rid due to Nostalgia mainly.
Love your Passion Sir and as a youngster I’m happy to say you know your stuff🙏
Helpful for sure, looks exciting! Given the cost and that I'm a rec player, I usually wait until the second iteration of the new generation of a skate so that they can iron out the kinks. Thanks again!
I bought a pair of FT4 Pros about a month ago, massive upgrade for me. Saved hundreds on them since the FT6s were coming. I was coming from CCM Ribcor 76k. I play 2-3 times a week and have been playing hockey for about 2.5 years.
After watching this, I cant stop thinking about how amazing the Ribcor 120k would have been…..
looks like FT6 is now very close to tacks line. it would be nice to have Ft6 vs AS-V lines video, especially fitting, width differences.
100% coming! We’ll be doing for the FT6 Pro announcement day by CCM. This video is very, very early ! It was meant to drop at the end of this month 🤫
The complete comfort foam/pad seamless wraparound was taken from the RibCor 100k Pros. So it's just a crossover to the FT6 since the RibCor is no longer in the lineup.
Oh and how would you compare these to the Ribor 100 K pros?
FT6 Pro stiffness explained: Europe the FT6 Pro's stiffness is 215. In North America, it's 195. That is directly from CCM Hockey.
That's kind of surprising, given the rise in obesity and overweight among people living in North America. Chris, what's the reason behind this rather surprising difference? Is this based on demographics alone or did CCM survey the weight profiles prior to releasing to europe?
Great video really excited for the ft6 pro
The FT6 pro's look like a huge upgrade over the 4's. Nicely done CCM
Yup. Good to see a company actually make improvements that aren't just cosmetic changes
Congrats on the video - usually the brands use a lot o Blah Blah words that sound to gimmicky and untrustworthy - your video is great and made me re-think.
My son plays aaa-elite in the states (he used to play for Guilford!) and usually because of price I always bought “last season” gear, like now he weara FT2s and would move up to 4s! After your video I will re-think - the thing with intermediate skates is that the price is too high still - i rather buy 4s so he can move 1/2 a size every six months other than skate with skates that are too big/small.
Thanks for the detailed comparison. I have in hand a pair of FT6 Pro Intermediate (size 6.5) skates. I do not see any carbon weave pattern in the quarter package material, I see plain glossy black. Does the FT6 Pro Intermediate use a different quarter package material than the FT6 Pro Senior?
Great review! Keep it up.
Can't wait for the FT6 pro vs. hyperlite 2 comparison.
10000000% coming!
@@HockeyTutorialOfficialabout when will the new Vapor line drop? I heard probably June?
@@kingk4882 June/July. Bauer don't really tell us much Lol!
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial their way of communication is odd. I had to deal with them as well and I got a delayed answer that did not even point to my issue.
Well, we gotta be patient I guess 😅
I hope they fixed the fitment. I had to return my ribcores and my buddy had Ft4 pros that brutalized his feet. I went with True Cat 7s they are night and day comfortable compared to CCM. I'm staunchly CCM like my only non CCM gear is my skates!
i have minor haglund’s and every single pair of skates i try on hurts the back of my foot/heel. hoping that these will be a good fit after months of looking for a pair that don’t hurt.
Are the CCM ortho footbeds really available separately? I haven't seen them anywhere, online or in shops.
I have the ft6 pro stick! When are you going to do a review on it
Can you compare the custom version with custom true and custom Bauer?
Is that blade changer the same as the custom CCM? The one that broke on both skates?
Hi Chris, do you know if the Jetspeed ft 680 do have an asymmetrical boot cut and toe cap too? Thx
What skate would be better for performance Ft6 or ft4 pro?
Pls do a video comparison on the Supreme UltraSonic and M5 Pros skates (if can be in Fit 3 it will be even better) thank you#
ill take your 4 pros size 11.. wow this skate looks insanely nice
Could you make a video on the hyperlite skates vs hyperlite 2 skates?
How’s the accessory navicular rubbing issue? I’ve heard from a lot of people it’s an issue. Including myself. I’ve been skating for 15yrs never had a skate cause me blisters until ft4 pro. I really like the way it skates, but it’s constantly hitting that bone. Even with skate punched and super feet, it helped a bit.
I bet you still prefer your trues though. Lol
Same here! I always thought I was alone with the accessory navicular, I always need to get my skates punched out. It is a pretty annoying issue with the skates
how do they compare the the cat9’s
Interesting video. I have a set of ft4pro and can’t see myself changing anytime soon. Although I’d love to know if I can swap out the tongue and buy the ft6 pro tongue - I wonder if it fits?
- id like to see someone skate in one of each of the skates and see how much of a difference they notice
i have a set of ft6 pros, and i can swap the tongue with my old as3’s, so rest assured you will be able to. hoping ccm comes out with some new d3o with the newer style of tongue
@@harrysmith864 thanks so much Harry! I imagine I’ll have to wait a few months for supply to come through 👍🏻
Chris, why would CCM go with a stiffness index of 215 for the european model? What's the reason behind this decision?
Yes this seems stupid. Its the same stiffness as the tacks? Whats the point
Looks like the FT6 took some aspects of the True SVH. Definately a nice looking skate
I previously had the FT4 Pros in the Total Custom plus. LOVED THEM. Was a shame you couldn’t change the colors on them… I then stepped into the ASV Pro for the extra stiffness and color options. LOVE these too… Now after seeing all these added upgrades to the FT6 Pro, I definitely want them. I just hope we can change the color on these!
Great video. Thanks so much!
I don't get it why don't they let the skates be customizable color wise.
@@oskarlill- Just placed my order for the Total Custom + for these FT6 Pro, and YES color options were available 😎
When is the release date on those?? In the US!
The FT2 lookes a lot nicer than both. does the FT2 D width fit similar to a FT4 "regular fit"?
Fit the ft6 tongue in the ft4 Skate ?
When do they come out
So CCM made a True(not True)? Lots of design ques from True there
question - can i try on & bake skates when wearing heel/bunga pads?
Yes
I got the Jetspeed FT4 Pro skates about a month ago. Love them, but they are absolutely destroying my ankle/calf on the outside. The little bit of foam/padding at the ankle is insufficient (comfort pad is hardly the right name). Do you think the FT6 Pro will be more forgiving in that area?
Had this exact issue and got rid of them because of it.
Hope you have the ccm 90 day return….
@@andrewgrant2948 I do, thankfully!
More pain you experience on the outside ankle more quicker you get the right posture. I had bloody blisters with my ultratacks (which btw has far less soft material on the edges of the boot) but after two-three months forgot about it by keeping skates straight with my legs in turns
I have a question
which skate families of each brand can be compared to each other in terms of player type
Video coming on that 😉
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial oh awesome
I currently have hyperlites, but would getting the ft6 (not pros) be an upgrade? Or should I just stay with hyperlites
Yes they would still be an update. Used them and unless you’re playing elite level hockey, it’s difficult to feel the difference between them and the pros. Way better than HyperLite
When do these drop?
Would it be bad idea to switch from wearing the Bauer supreme line to the CCM FT6 pro?
My son has been wearing the top of the line supreme skates since he started skating. Always in the supreme line and now in the ultrasonics which he loves.
I’m considering these over the Bauer Machs but I’m not sure if this would be a good idea.
I wish there was a way to try these on ice. These look amazing and the tech they have put into them appears to be a great step forward.
Any advice?
Thank you.
Ultrasonic are a fantastic skate! In my top 5 for sure. I would either stick with them, buy another pair (on sale !) if there are no issues with fit, support and performance. I wouldn’t move to Mach personally.. too similar.
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial he is about to grow out of the size 9 ultrasonic so I have to get a new pair anyway. I was wondering if CCM FT6 pro would be a good move. If not I will just grab the Marchs.
I don't know about changing brands at this point since the Ultrasonics are such an amazing skate. But if I have to change anyway it's either into the Machs or the FT6 Pro. But most likely the Mach's at this point.
Machs would be a sure shot , and they are amazing good skate too.
I have the machs size 7.5
My feet fits nice in the ft6pro that i tried today but i had to go for a size 8 and a superfeet insole to make them fit perfect.
So for me it would be a doable switch, will i do it..?bauer never ever gave me a reason to switch for ccm's
Took the decent parts of the 100k and Ft4 Pro and combined them. Going to be a nice skate. Now about those graphics CCM...
Come on.... You don't like them ? I think they look sick ! Id rather all black tho :D
Love my 80k... wondering if I should jump to the 6s when they release or grab a pair of 100k. Tough decision. Can't find stiffness ratings on 80k any 100k so if anyone can toss me a solid on that please let me know. Thank you!
I just moved from the 80k to 100k. They are outstanding. Love them, considering buying a 2nd pair since ribcor is discontinued. There is a noticable difference in stiffness. The 100k is stiffer but I feel in a good way. I’m getting way more power than the 80k. The step steel is also a huge upgrade.
I got mine for $800 from hockey monkey. I see they are now down to $700.
@@andrewgrant2948 Used pair local of 100k are 350 so i might juts snag them BUT the ft6 are around the corner and im really debating those. So my question is with 100k vs new FT6. Are the FT6 a 100k upgrade ....tough call, maybe ill have to wait for a deeper comparison when they are released
@@aaronmaximFrom the video the FT6 appear to be stiffer than the FT4 and definitely much stiffer than ribcor. Buying used could be a mistake since they’ve likely already been baked. If the ribcor didnt exist, I’m sure I would buy the FT6 and would be happy.
Chris, it's been a couple of months and MonkeySports in Sweden still doesn't know anything about the change in stiffness for the european model. They're running it by CCM now, but this is a very odd situation if you ask me.
Stiffness in Europe is 215. North America 195 for the ft6 pro. This is because in Europe, there was a request for a stiffer skate. For some reason this wasn’t done for North America. Hope that helps (this info comes directly from CCM Europe)
I agree… the FT4 pro design is not appealing to me … something about it is not cutting it. FT6 pro is beautiful !
Will they offer these tongues as replacement options? Would be pretty lame to lock them behind a skate line.
I honestly didn't ask that. I was too buzzed at being allowed to drop this video so early LOL! the second video going into performance on the ice will cover all that info.
Would you recommend changing the footbed to superfeet? Im getting the ft6 pro
Superfeet are great but there are more options these days
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial thanks for the prompt reply.
Any options you would recommend? I have a pair of superfeet comfort I’m my old jetspeed blacks… no complaints, but definitely open to suggestions. TIA
Ft6 pro for sure. I’m excited to get them
The boot on the ft6 pro doesn’t look as narrow as it was on the ft4 pro
Can you do a review of the whole skate line, it would be really appreciated.
We have it and that is coming. If you watch the full video, you’ll see a clip of the full line up
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial what’s the time stamp I watched the video and didn’t see it.
I just picked up some FT4 Pros for $600 so I'm good. These will probably be $1200 I bet.
Good move
Any clue how much they will cost?
1299 CAN, 999 USD i believe
I just tried the ft6 pros and they gave my feet such a bad blister, never happened before to me.
Inside small bone below ankle? Try adding just a little bit of k-tape over that area.
Really wish there more options for skates other than just CCM and Bauer. I hate how they've been allowed to buy up their competition. It's also annoying that every skate is black with an accent color. Really hope to see some companies show up to appeal to that niche. I'd love to see a video from you guys on how Eagle, Easton, Koho, Graf...etc disappeared and what it means for the future of hockey.
I know quite a few guys that wear True skates.
True !! PS: hey Graf.. please come back
@Hockey Tutorial you can still buy new Graf skates. Mostly just online though.
Well that's business for you. Companies buy each other so they can expand
As someone who doesn't play at all, barely even an amateur at just recreational skating, these *still* look good. I have wide flat feet that cause me one hell of a time finding even shoes that are comfortable, and I find most skates to be pure agony. All I see here is comfort with added comfort, and the sort of stiffness that I prefer in walking boot, but still with flexibility in exactly the places where everyone says you want skates to be flexible as a beginner so you can get the knee bend right. Not cheap, but I have a sizeable budget for *not being in pain*
Trust me, no matter your budget, this is waaayyy too much skate for a beginner, unless you are like 350 lbs. It will be a cast on you because you won't have the technique to skate them. Don't take my word, you can buy 'em and buy a middle of the road FT475 equivalent, and you will see what I mean. Good thing with CCM is you get 90 days to try the skates.
@@KP-dd2ci The 90 day satisfaction guarantee ended on April 1st.
@@PaulMarangoni Really? Source? I still see it on their websites.
@@PaulMarangoniI think it ended on the older models. But you may be right, I thought it transitioned to 30 days.
@@KP-dd2ci Genuine question, what sort of problems would I expect to run into with this vs a cheaper skate? Allowing that I can always skip lacing the top eyelet if necessary. I've looked into my options and it seems that I'm going to have to go to at least mid range so I can get something that can be baked and actually fits me properly. Before these were announced I was looking at Bauer supremes.
Seems like retail ft6 pro will be made of RocketFrame composit not of carbon fiber like yours on video
Is it just me, or does the the ft6 just look like an asv in red
That tongue looks amazing.
Best tongue I’ve experienced on a skate. Much better then the one that comes on the asv pro, and comparable but a bit better then what comes with the true catalyst.
exactly like as v pro
The ft6 pro look great. But I can’t wait till new Ribcor come out
Ribcor (skates) are gone :(
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial WAIT. FOR REAL. they were the only skates I could skate in. All the stiff boots I feel useless in. What do you thing a good replacement would be. Or do you think ccm will drop Ribcor someday again?
@@marcoharvan683 Just go with FT6 or FT680. Similar stiffness, better performance bud. Those are the models below the top spec FT6 Pro skates.
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial thanks for that. I also saw the U.S. stiffness rating is lower then Europe. I just don’t like a change and loved how the Ribcor felt compared to the jetspeeds I was forced to buy due to size. I guess it’s just getting used to them. Anyway, thanks for the advice. I do with though ccm would bring the Ribcor skates back like every 4-5 years as a special edition or at least made them a option for custom skates.
Better buy the 100k quick before they sell out. 30% off retail online. They are a huge upgrade over the 80k.
Thick footbed is worstest thing for skater, because it eats big volume of energy that should transfer to the ice, so your performance on ice will be decrease from shift to shift.
Ft6 are fire
this skate comparison looks like Gucci Vs. Walmart not only are they both top level skates but also made one after another
Beautiful skate but why the red://// who the heck wears any red out on the ice. Skate isn’t going to match anything.
Holy Marketing copy. Get that bread I guess.
Only meaningful differences are:
Softer toungue - could be better or worse for performance
Liner goes a little higher - never bothered me on FT4 pros but could only be an improvement
Facing for eyelets - more durability and maybe a better wrap before heat moulding
~10% heavier - 766 vs 702g - about 12 quarters in each skate
Stiffer? - Comments say otherwise
In Europe the FT6 Pro's stiffness is 215. In North America, it's 195. That is directly from CCM Hockey.
Maybe if the boot wasn’t all red…
Looks like an AS-V pro skate rebranded. Same stiffness and very much the same design. Edit, looks like an AS-V pro with just a new tongue.
It isn’t, there are a lot of differences. The fit is one thing we can’t show or explain in video. It is unreal ! A lot of difference with this and the ASV Pro. Plus the liners ! We’ll do a vs against ASV Pro once they officially get announced. This video was very early 🫣🤓
I think the video got the incorrect stiffness. According to CCM's 2023 sales catalog, the FT6 pro skate has a stiffness index of 195... so no change from the Ft4 pro skate.
@@ByronLee403 EU FT6 Pro is 215. North American FT6 Pro is 195. This info is coming directly from CCM.
The new FT6 line look far better than the FT4 line - that was an ugly iteration
фт 77про бест!
Outside of the one piece boot, it pretty much seems like they copied everything from Bauer skates.
Eh not really. They're kinda like the CCM Ribcor 100k pro but stiffer. Exact same tongue and tendon guard but it's a stiffer boot than the 100k pro
Tendon for sure is similar. Tongue is not
Once again Ccm copies Bauer copying the asymetrical upper boot part lol
First
Ft4 and Ft6 are both hideous looking skates. Ugly.
Everyone hates the look. Why do they keep that thick red band when it's hideous?
Glad I’m not the only who thinks these are hideous
@@thakid691 the Tacks line has a good look. The band on the heel is small and more subtle. Why wouldn't they do the same thing except in red for the Jetspeed line?
The thick band is just an awful look. It looks amateurish.
The 100k look great
@@andrewgrant2948 all Ribcors look incredible
Rubbish blade holder design on all these. With use the blades get loose and remain loose with the dial at maximum . Avoid
I'd rather that then have my blades pop out because of an internal set screw like the tuuk
Agreed this happened to my 80k.
Gotta get them custom all blacked out
What about the weight??? Which one is lighter?
For some reason the text only shows in the video as subtitles. FT4 Pro 702grams. FT6 Pro 766. Both size 7.5
@@HockeyTutorialOfficial thanks
FT6 Pro is a littler heavier because of:
Stiffer skate (more material)
More foams in the liners
More foams in the tongue
Bigger tendon
Bigger dial on holder
More facing material
You cannot feel any difference in weight on the ice. None ! FT6 Pro just feels like a much, much better performing skate. In the studio and on the ice
Replaceable tongues on FT6? Like FT4? Thanks
