    "one of these is a top line stick" as he keeps the FT5 in one hand and the other two in his other hand.
    "One is mid line" as he transfers the mid line stick to the same hand as the ft5 pro.
    "And one is budget" as he holds it in his hand and looks at it 🤣
    Yeah, totally unbiased.

    accuracy test has way too much human error factor to be an actual test. I get the idea of wanting to cover up the sticks with tape but that much tape, strictly my opinion and not backed by any science, will change the characteristics of the stick I would imagine

    • @MrQuattro75
      @MrQuattro75 Месяц назад

      The tape has an effect, but minimal. The forces acting on the shaft during the action are not significantly affected by the tape.

    Once you go to a $300 stick, you cannot never go back to a $100. They feel like uncut pieces of lumber...
    Maybe things have changed today but 10 years ago when I went from a Bauer Vapor X40 ($100) to the X60 ($300), the X40 felt like holding a steel pipe....

    • @87morse
      @87morse 10 месяцев назад +3

      Things have changed for stick technology! i had an x60 as well back in the day. A mid level stick today weighs about the same as the x60. I never imagined it could get any better than the s19 / x60 era. but here we are..

    Haha I don’t know why I watch these kinds of videos, I guess for entertainment, but I love the message here. If you don’t go for the best model, you might as well save your money and go for the cheapest option. I think practicing with that cheap stick can even have advantages since it’s heavier. The gear that you shouldn’t save money on in my opinion is the helmet and maybe the skates.

    • @MrQuattro75
      @MrQuattro75 Месяц назад

      I completely disagree, or rather you are right, that skates are the foundation and NEVER skimp there. With a helmet it's very subjective. What helmet is the best? The one that has great impact tests but the shape doesn't match the shape of your head, or the one that doesn't have "five stars" but fits you perfectly? I used to use a Bauer Hyperlite helmet. It was one of the best in tests from Virgin Tech, but it didn't fit my head well (tightly). I bought the CCM 720, which only has three stars, but it fits perfectly and tightly.
      I have this experience with hockey sticks:
      When I finished my Pro career and ran out of hockey sticks, I tried some cheap ones. So I invested in the category I was used to - expensive models. But they are not designed for the amateur league - within a season they were all in the trash (broken). Now I have been using the middle range of hockey sticks for several years and in our amateur league these models last the longest. I currently have a stock of FT5 and FT6 models (you can feel the difference), and last year I bought an FT Ghost out of curiosity, which this year should be the "new" FT7 Pro line - I've already spotted them in the NHL. For me, the FT Ghost is not suitable, it has too soft a blade.

    Depending on player height, you can on occasion save money with an intermediate stick. Minus if you need like an 85 flex, you can usually get the same flex, but the stick are normally a little lighter. $100 warrior stick is like 435oz and the intermediate is like 380. Have to look it up again for the exact numbers, but the intermediate was close to the weight of their mid line stick. If you're 6 foot and need a 80-85 flex, it wont work, but if you're under 6 foot and stay around 70-75, you can usually find an option that'll work. Also most of this isn't that important if people are just doing beer league XD. No one needs to go spend $300+ on a stick.

    I would have liked to have seen some bend in these sticks to see what the difference would be, because that's what they are designed to do: store up energy and release. But that's a pretty tough technique to pull off.

    I've been buying 1 model down from the top of the line since second year U15, sometimes I'll pick up last years top model if it goes on sale but over the years I've found the second from the top sticks have way better durability. So if you break a lot of sticks and still have to pay for them I'd stay away from getting the flagship stick every single time you break a twig

    Maybe you shouldn’t stick handle so much before your first shot, I’ve noticed in this video and past videos, the more you stick handle the less likely you are to hit the target on your first shot

    For a beer league player it makes barely any difference. Save your money and buy the cheaper stick

    • @andersborum9267
      @andersborum9267 9 месяцев назад +1

      Don't agree at all; why should a beer leaguer use inferior sticks if they're able to afford it? I've seen many players benefit from better skates and sticks, well - better gear in general, and if it makes you appreciate the game or time on the ice even more, it's all the better. Also, the term beer league is an abomination, should be rec. hockey instead.

    • @alexanderh.999
      @alexanderh.999 9 месяцев назад +1

      @andersborum9267 the difference is mostly psychological. Sure, better equipment helps, but most likely it's a diminishing rate of return

    • @basilmcdonnell9807
      @basilmcdonnell9807 6 месяцев назад +1

      A lower stick might take 20 mph off your shot, and that can be the difference between a hattie every game and going a season without putting a single puck in the net.

    • @Mustang_Dan
      @Mustang_Dan 3 месяца назад

      I’ll say this…I just started playing drop in to get back at it after years away from playing and I bought myself too cheap, too heavy, and too stiff of a stick for me and I’ve lost a few puck battles in particular where I had to swing my stick one handed to try and knock the puck out of the opponent’s reach and over to one of my teammates when I wasn’t in a position to take possession. A couple times I was fatigued and I just couldn’t swing the heavy twig fast enough to have gotten the puck away from them. I recently picked up a lightly used Hyperlite for cheap and it’s like 1/2 the weight of my heavy stick and it makes all the difference in manipulating the stick. I won’t compare shot quality cause it’s not a fair comparison being diff flexes, diff curves, diff kick points, one is a SR the other is an INT, etc. But yeah, long story short, weight of your stick can definitely change your game even at the beer league level.
