Hey man!! I'm so happy that you are still in the Hive! We spoke 4 years ago on your first sliver RUclips video and on reddit and you got me into the tribe. They are my favorite and this video really feels like a homecoming for me
@Purple Gaming it really was! It looks similar to mine however I use 2 force of negations, 2 surge of Salvation, and 1 first sliver (my favorite sliver)
@Purple Gaming well I also run 3 Diffusion, 2 Unsettled Mariner, 1 first sliver, 4 galerider, and 3 Frenetic in the main so since I only have 2 force it normally works out lol but it's also pretty cheap to just hard cast worst case
How does the 3 Frenetic work out for you? I love the card, but I'm always scared to run it as more than a 2 of due to its unreliable ability and the fact that it's ability doesn't stack. (One game I pulled 3 Frenetics off the top and nothing else lol)
we desperately need a fused sliver from sub-par older cards to catch up with the meta, ie a fusion of sentinel sliver and two-headed sliver for a black and a white mana a 2/2 sliver gives all slivers vigilance and menace, or more fittingly for the color combination intimidate. that way even against oppressively fast decks or anything that contains rhinos/scion/leyline combo can be defended against whilst also having some of your slivers attack without the opponent being able to block them. well, in that specific case you either need scion to be alone for menace to work or to destroy the leyline for intimidate to work and to have non-green attackers to push through i know being big and flying deals better with this problem, but we already have enough sources for that. also this idea probably wont change a thing. maybe what we really need is sth that wizards never dared to print: hybrid colored slivers. also even more abilities on slivers. and three colored slivers. imagine if the sliver from before was actually (B/R)(W) and gave all slivers menace, intimidate and vigilance. finally a dodging sliver that can touch those that give flying. it's not too cryptic as with hunting sliver giving provoke. i'd still keep it at 2/2, though, bc stats dont mean anything anymore these days in modern. anything can have any stats you want. overall i think it's about as good a card as skyshredder sliver, with flying being a bit worse than intimidate/menace combo, but haste being better than vigilance usually. at least this new card could replace sentinel sliver entirely and maybe 1 skyshredder. (1 mana slivers with relevant abilities will never not be good) ps: i didnt know crystalline sliver wasnt modern legal, wow
@@noitsjustcody it's pretty brutal that we cant have it. there are alternatives out there, but they are just worse. atst, slivers hasnt ever been meta in modern, so why is wizards acting like they have to keep it down? afraid of counterslivers or sth? even at its best it wasnt oppressive at all, meanwhile they just keep on printing meta breaking cards one after the other and cant even get themselves to ban them in a timely manner
It might be a little outdated, but I didn't see it mentioned in the video, but does Syphon Sliver (lifelink) have a chance in this deck? Or is he usually too slow?
My knowledge is definitely outdated now, but Syphon was always a great side board option against aggro/burn in slower meta games. I personally opted to use Darkheart since my local meta was extremely removal heavy, and I was at least gaining 3 life off of a sliver being destroyed or exiled.
I’m still confused on frenetic sliver. So everything cost 0 dose that mean you have to flip a coin every time you use a colorless ability? And if you win this card comes back at end of turn but since you remove it from game doesn’t that mean the 0 cost ability goes away and you can’t use it?
It's a weird card. The 0 Cost is how much you have to spend to ACTIVATE its ability. You can do it at instant speed, and if you win the coin flip it comes back at the end of turn. You do not need to pay anything else for it to come back, because it returns as part of its ability.
I'm honestly mulling that all over right now lol. They all seem to have their place, but also tend to have different playstyles. Overlord and The First already had different deck building strategies and playstyles, and now the next two new commanders clearly are encouraging wildly different ones, too. I genuinely think they all have their place, but it depends largely on what commander you wanna run.
In modern it's likely too slow, especially for its cost. I would argue more for a copy of unsettled mariner these days if targeted removal is heavy in your local meta, or leeching sliver if you're looking for a quicker, more aggro win.
@patrickenger4243 if you're already flying over their head it's effectively another lord, amirite? A decklist by another Sliver player recently ran a 4-0 at a local, let me see if I can find it for you.
That's a darn good question. Force is an incredible card, and I've seen it used well in slivers in the past. However, you'll need to build the deck around it, primarily through running more blue slivers. A full playset of Diffusion and Unsettled Mariner would be a great addition in the current meta, and Frenetic as a 2 or 3 of would help make sure you have the blue spells to pitch. The mana base would need a bit of tweaking as well, as my land choice is mostly centered around Collected Company and Sedge Sliver's need for swamps.
@@noitsjustcody cool mam thanks! What about mutavault? Also my friend share running UW control.. supreme verdict they will have 4 of so I'm thinking the dredge scape sliver will prove useful. Do you think a copy of sliver legion would be useful ? Or even the first sliver
Mutavault is a great card, however it can make the mana base even trickier due to the fact that it only taps for 1 colorless. If you can streamline your color choices, or make all other lands rainbow lands and take out Sedge, then it can work. The 5 color big slivers are harder to slot in, but back in the days of Jund being the strongest I used to keep one Hivelord on the sideboard!
He said, 8 years, and it made me laugh. Then I had to think about why I was laughing. I learned how to play 20 years ago. I've owned cards since I was 5 though. just a bag of hand me down cards. Too funny, I'm getting old 😂 😅
manaweft, diffusion, sedge, necrotic, collected company? thats 2018 version of the deck. dont play it if you go that way you will face a lot of land pain and a lot of inconsistency
There is undoubtedly a lot of inconsistency to it, and iirc I stated that in the video. I personally still enjoy Sedge, as regen works great in my local meta, but the land base leaves a lot to be desired. I still swear by CoCo, though.

Yoooo glad to see you're still on that sliver game!
Enough had changed in the meta, so I felt like the decklist needed an update. I hope it's helpful!

How has forced worked for you? I haven't given it a proper try out of fear I won't have a blue spell to pitch.
@Purple Gaming well I also run 3 Diffusion, 2 Unsettled Mariner, 1 first sliver, 4 galerider, and 3 Frenetic in the main so since I only have 2 force it normally works out lol but it's also pretty cheap to just hard cast worst case

This guy taught me magic the gathering, dont fully remember how to play but it was the thought that counts lol
It's a hard game with too much to learn lol. If you even remember one thing you're already doing better than most!

OMG NEW PURPLE GAMING VIDEO
Sliver Hive unite.
Super excited we finally get new stuff
This video is gold. I have been practicing so much with it.
Yo I'm so glad to hear that! I only hoped that the tricks I had learned over the years would be useful to someone out there.
@@noitsjustcodyoh believe me, it has helped!

Why is it called Modern still? Wizards needs to change the name of this elderly format full of old and unusual cards.
