5:32 "Are we gonna have a good time in the arena, crafting new decks and this and that? Not on this profile" Sums up nicely my fresh f2p expierience xD
You released this at a great time. The Historic banned event is up and running. So we can all make any historic deck ever and play those cards for free even if none are in our collection. I've been playing Historic games all day just learning cards. Oh and the first game i played trying your deck. I beat the most sweaty try hard mill deck. was satisfying thanks. Im only 6 rare WC away from owning the deck. Once i finish my Bants spirits, Gruul Landfall decks its next.
I went up to Mythic in historic about a month after downloading the game without knowing this. Rakdos sac deck with Juri, Ashnod's altar and Animation module one-shot infinite combo. I have now moved my deck into a sort of midrange control using tutors to pull Urabrask's Forge and Grave Pact into the battlefield. I don't know how it will do in the historic event but I hope it does well
Another way to have multiple playable decks to play whatever you feel like is to craft historic staples and then you compliment whatever cards to decks as you go since those cards dont rotate and more freedom to play what you want. The standard cards you get as you play through mastery pass and such.
Is there an order to watch this account progression? I just found your channel and started just watching all your videos because I’m newer to arena and trying to fix my account .. I just was buying single packs and have basically no resources or knowledge of anything besides commander for Mtg so a lot to learn. Thanks for this series though it’s helped a lot
Thanks for taking the time to watch this stuff! Welcome to the channel! As far as an order? I have all of my videos in playlists on my channel page (I will link it below). If you really need a long term goal, check out my budget guide playlist. If you want decks, check out my budget decks playlists. It really all depends on what you are looking for. If you respond with what you are looking for, I can point you to a specific video, though. : ) Cheers! And welcome!! www.youtube.com/@coffeestout
I think I should try historic as well, the standard is too grindy and stale, plus it doesn't make you happy to get lord of the rings packs and such if you only do standard like most of the game is missed to you.
I'm a Returning player struggling with the same issues since my collection completely rotated out and my janky journey deck from way-back-when is nowhere near the power level required for historic. Are you planning to also upload some games of you playing the Azorius artifacts deck so we can get a feel of how it plays?
Yeah, it always hurt to come back and not have access to your old deck, lol! As far as publishing on the Azorius Artifacts deck: I have two videos posted on how they play: ruclips.net/video/3mvGILuNgwg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/38Cz6Gfn1IE/видео.html The second video on this list is an artisan build. The first one is a pretty diverse build, but is not worried about using a few rares.
@@coffeestout Cheers for the links! Looks like the fully blinged out version's a tad out of reach for my current wildcard budget, but something to build towards for sure!
@@coffeestout So I just wanted to come back to this after trying the deck out for a bit, and it's legitimately insane. Went 8-3 over the past two days doing my 4 daily win sin historic ranked and climbed up to gold so far. beat a Sultai dredge deck too! I did take out 4 of the taplands for hallowed fountains which cost me some rares, but the extra speed you can get out of the gate seems hella worth. T1 Skirge into T2 ensoul artifact just wins unless they have removal and loses them tempo even if they do.
No gems is jump in. No chance for free mastery pass. Otherwise jump in is fine in order to get the few rares in there, lol. The mastery pass is great for constructed players.
It takes about 6 weeks of gold to win your first mastery pass through drafting. After that, you are free to spend your gold and gems on whatever you like. Jump-In packs always have the same commons and uncommons, but each has a pool of 2-3 different rares, some have only a 20% chance of appearing. Jump-Ins are great for starting your collection, but very bad for completing it.
If you are only looking to build out Standard, I would suggest saving 3K gems so that you can get the mastery pass. After that, you can use the Gems to draft with. Since I am trying to build out in Historic and Explorer, I will be saving around 10K Gems then doing the same thing. As far as Traditional VS Premier? You do you. I haven't played the Traditional Drafts at all, but either one works. It depends on if you want to play BO1 or BO3, really.
Wow, I JUST started playing magic and this video comes out, amazing timing! Do you think it's worth going into drafts for a brand new player? cause I figure I'm gonna be going 1/3 or 2/3 for a while before I start getting the hang of it.
Yes. I started playing last year. My first few drafts were all zero wins, but now I get two or three wins at least. I also get more wins in constructed now too, Drafting improves your magic more quickly that anything else I can think of.
Yeah go for It! And even if you lose at least you are going tò get Better and Better at drafting, in the long run It Will repay Oh and It Is super fun as well when you get the hang of it
Drafting is probably a gem sink before you're good but also its the most fun format imo. Make sure you go onto 17lands and have a look at the card evaluations. You can also look at decks that went 7x to see what sort of cards you'd want make into a deck. You can also have a look at how late cards go to work out your pick, ie whether you should take cards when you see them or try and get them on the way back (wheel them)
Pretty good question. I didn't know when I started either, but all ranked play is linked into the other ones. If you hit mythic in standard, you will play in mythic in historic and explorer as well, so the rewards are the same.

🤣🤣🤣
the real bottleneck are not Mythic wild cards, are rare ones.
I thought I mentioned that... I probably need to go check the edit to make sure it made the cut!! Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
This has been true since day 1 of Arena

Bant spirits? Sounds very dangerous!! I'm glad you got to mess folks up with some 0/2 artifacts. 😀
@@coffeestout I researched a OKO deck since we can use banned cards. Goodtimes. played like 10 games with that deck.
@@Minmataro718 That sounds like a blast!! I may look into that, lol.

Absolutely true!!
This is what we need and want to see honestly how to grind without pay
Thanks! Definitely more of this stuff!!

If you buy the mastery pack do u get all the stuff from the lvl ur at or does it start over?
You get everything that you have already earned.
How do u maximize? Premier Drafting cost alot?? JUMP-INS seems to be the way to go

Should you be joining drafts with gems or gold? Traditional or premier? Trying to build out standard sets as F2P

These folks speak true! Drafting is the reason most cards are designed as well!! So you get to see why cards were made.
Alright folks, it seems pretty unanimous. Thanks for the tips!
do you get packs from increasing rank in historic and explorer?
Pretty good question. I didn't know when I started either, but all ranked play is linked into the other ones. If you hit mythic in standard, you will play in mythic in historic and explorer as well, so the rewards are the same.
